from tvguide.com... DiMera Family Reunion on Days of our Lives British hottie James Scott (EJ Wells) no longer has to carry the diabolical DiMera torch all alone on NBC's Days of our Lives. As previously reported, Thaao Penghlis will return as EJ's big brother, Tony DiMera, on May 24. Plus, Days now confirms that other popular members of EJ's evil family are heading back to Salem: On June 6, Joseph Mascolo returns to his signature soap role as legendary supervillain Stefano DiMera. Also returning this summer are Leann Hunley as Anna DiMera and Renee Jones as Dr. Lexie Carver. "This summer, we'll see the return of our most glamorous and fascinating family: the DiMeras," Days' co-executive producer Stephen Wyman tells TVGuide.com. info from tvguide.com... Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, Days of our Lives) will judge the fourth season of SOAPnet's I Wanna Be A Soap Star. You'll see Evans seated at the judges' table with talent manager Michael Bruno and Days head writer Hogan Sheffer. But what happened to Debbi Morgan (ex-Angie, All My Children; ex-Ellen, Port Charles) who judged Soap Star during its first three seasons? "Debbi Morgan is not available this year due to scheduling conflicts with her role in the national-touring play U Got Me Bent and Twisted," SOAPnet's spokesperson explains to TVGuide.com. "Mary Beth Evans had filled in for Debbi at the Los Angeles call-back session on April 1, so she was asked to stay for the entire season." As TVGuide.com previously reported, SOAPnet viewers will help determine the next winner of Soap Star, who gets a 13-week contract role on Days of our Lives.
info from tvguide.com... Thaao Penghlis returns to NBC's Days of our Lives as the diabolical Count Tony DiMera on Thursday, May 24. (seems the previous date we were given was the first tape date for Thaao and Steve) Viewers last saw Tony in September 2005, soon after he was revealed as the culprit behind the oh-so-convoluted Salem Stalker saga. It should be fun to see Tony interacting with his wicked baby brother, EJ (James Scott). Let's just hope Days' current head writer, Hogan Sheffer, has better plans for Tony than former top scribe James E. Reilly did. Speaking of Days baddies... Heather Lindell--who played Salem's psycho maneater, Jan Spears--begins a three-episode stint on As the World Turns on Thursday, May 3. The CBS sudser says Lindell's character, Lynn, will cause trouble for Brad and Katie. Lisa Rinna Replaces Joan and Missy on the Red Carpet We soap fans are used to surprise recasts, aren't we? Another former cast member passes away from tvguide.com... Back in the 1960s, Mallory did several guest spots on TV series like Bewitched and The Munsters before Ted Corday cast him as Bill Reilly on the short-lived NBC sudser Morning Star. The Cordays later cast him on Days after that show's cancellation. Mallory last appeared on Days in the early '90s. By that time, he had left acting and become a soap director. He helmed for several shows including Days, All My Children, General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Rituals and Generations. He also produced programming for the A&E network, including biographies of gossip queen Hedda Hopper and JFK's father, Joseph P. Kennedy. Later in life, Mallory taught as an artist in residence in the mass communications department at Frostburg State University in Maryland. The daytime vet is survived by wife Suzanne Zenor, who actually played his Days daughter-in-law, Margo Horton, from 1977 to 1980. He also had an actor son, John Mallory Asher, and a grandson, Evan. "Ed was a dear friend and a very important part of Days of our Lives," says Corday. "He will always be adored by fans for his role as the first bad boy on Days who went on to become part of the show's first supercouple, along with John Clarke (ex-Mickey) and Susan Flannery (ex-Laura). I stayed in touch with him long after he left the show to teach, continuing his dedication to his craft. He will be sorely missed."

Saunders was 13 when she started performing on Broadway. She met her husband while studying with Elia Kazan. Saunders later joined Kazan's Lincoln Center Company and performed under his direction in Arthur Miller's "After the Fall." Lanna appeared in the original Broadway productions of Milk and Honey and Philadelphia, Here I Come! She also appeared as Roz Kraft in the 1981 film "Body Heat." She joined the cast of the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" in 1979 in the role of Sister Marie but left the show in 1985, when she became too ill to continue, Pressman said. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1982. The couple's son, David Pressman, is also an actor. Saunders' father, Nicholas Saunders, died in August. Her grandfather was the Russian actor Nicholas Soussanin.
Early Edition Ends its Run As you may or may not have heard, the Early Edition has called it quits. You can see their message to fans here. Cheers to Barb, Laney, Linda and Sandra for many great years of day ahead previews. There's a chance we'll see some other fans take their place with this sort of update. Please stay tuned for news on this. Days Schedule Change on SoapNet SoapNet is changing their schedule next week as they add two more shows. Rumor has it that this new schedule will also involve changes to the Days schedule on SN. From what I've heard, Days will move back to its timeslot of 7 pm EST each evening. No word on other airtimes or if the weekend marathon time will change.
from tvguide.com... Billy Warlock Joins The Young and the Restless in May Billy Warlock is back in the daytime suds! The former Baywatcher joins The Young and the Restless on Monday, May 7. He will play Ben Hollander, Jack Abbott's new campaign manager in Y&R's fictional race for the Wisconsin state senate. Mr. Warlock is beloved by soap fans for his roles as Frankie Brady on Days of our Lives and A.J. Quartermaine on General Hospital. He also happens to be married to Julie Pinson (Billie, Days).
Days of our Lives: Matt Ashford is (Briefly) Back as Jack Last month, Matt Ashford let it slip that he's on his way back to NBC's Days of our Lives. Now there's more details to share... Ashford briefly returns as Jack Devereaux on Monday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 3. "Jack is spending time with Abby in New York and confronts her about her relationship with Max," a Days rep tells TVGuide.com. Regrettably, Ashley Benson was ill during the week Ashford returned to work, so the role of Abby was temporarily recast with actress Emily Montague. "Matt is only back for two episodes," the Days rep confirms. Because Jack's scenes with Faux Abby are set in New York, viewers should not expect him to interact with Patch, Kayla or any of the other folks back in Salem. Sigh. Ex-Days of our Lives Hottie Cast as Rob Lowe's Gay Bro Former Days of our Lives hunk Eric Winter (ex-Rex Brady) has landed the role of Rob Lowe's gay brother on Brothers & Sisters. Winter's character will be a love interest for Kevin (Matthew Rhys). Click here for the full story. For fans of another classic NBC soap... Another World Cancelled... AGAIN?! SOAPnet has decided to discontinue its daily reruns of classic sudser Another World. AW ran for 35 years on NBC and was cancelled in 1999. Back in July 2003, SOAPnet began rerunning AW episodes from 1987. The cabler is currently airing episodes from 1991. FYI, the last AW rerun will air on April 6, 2007. "The network is proud to have enabled fans the chance to reconnect with the series for a second time," SOAPnet's spokesperson tells TVGuide.com. On April 9, SOAPnet begins airing reruns of One Tree Hill and The O.C. in the afternoon. By the way, ABC Family'sFalcon Beach will also air same-week reruns on SOAPnet during its second season. (Meaning if you miss Beach on Monday night, SOAPnet airs the same episode again the following Saturday.) One Tree Hill reruns will occupy AW's former timeslot at 1 pm ET/PT daily. SOAPnet's daily reruns of half-hour sudser Ryan's Hope are bumped, too, but not discontinued altogether. Two episodes of RH will air every Sunday from 6-7 am ET/PT. This suds fan is sad to see Another World go off the air yet again. It was such a treat to relive Anne Heche's early days as twin troublemakers Vicky and Marley! In the first quarter of 2007 to date, SOAPnet's AW reruns were averaging a 0.0 Nielsen rating among women 18-49. That's not good.
from tvguide.com... Days of our Lives' Head Writer to Judge Soap Star 4 Last week, TVGuide.com reported that the next winner of I Wanna Be A Soap Star will score a 13-week contract role on NBC's Days of our Lives. (Read the full story here.) Now there's more juicy news to share about the SOAPnet reality show's fourth season. Soap Star regulars Michael Bruno and Debbi Morgan will be joined at the judges' table by... drumroll, please... none other than Days' head writer, Hogan Sheffer! "We've usually had a soap-opera casting director be a judge," SOAPnet's spokesperson tells TVGuide.com. "This is the first time we are getting a head writer." What's more, SOAPnet viewers will finally get a say in the outcome of the casting contest. "We are going to let America have a voice," the rep explains. "After Episode 9, when the show is down to two contestants, we'll ask America to vote on the winner." Judi Evans Returns to Days of our Lives as Adrienne Last week on NBC's Days of our Lives, Judi Evans wrapped up her stint as Bonnie Lockhart in a gut-wrenching, tearful scene with her TV daughter, Farah Fath (Mimi). While we'll really miss Bonnie, Days fans won't have to miss Judi Evans for long! The daytime veteran exclusively confirms to TVGuide.com that she will return to Salem as Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis, the character she played from 1987 to 1991. "You got the scoop, dude!" Evans says with a laugh. "I am returning to Days as Adrienne. My first day back at work is March 30. My first airdate should be May 1." Days' executive producer, Ken Corday, sure fired and re-hired Evans fast, huh? "Ken mentioned something at the goodbye party for me and Farah," she recalls. "He said, 'Well, you do have a brother who needs your help.'" Just so we're all on the same page, suds fans, Corday was referring to Adrienne's brother, Steve "Patch" Johnson, who's played by Stephen Nichols. "It's been 15 years since Adrienne's been on the canvas," Evans says. "God knows what's been going on in her life. Where did we leave off? She left Salem with Justin (Wally Kurth) and their three children. She was pregnant with their fourth. They were going to live in Dallas, Texas, where Justin was starting a company. All I know about the upcoming story is that I'm coming back to help my brother, Steve. I'm kind of going in blind!" For those who didn't watch Evans' first stint as Adrienne, here's a quickie character sketch from the lady herself: "Adrienne started out as a damaged person," Evans explains. "Through the help of her family and her husband, she became stronger. She was always strong, but she had been raped by her father, whom she shot and killed. Adrienne lost the memory of doing that, and Steve took the rap. Right before Steve was sentenced, she remembered what happened. Of course, Adrienne was exonerated because it was self defense. "Later, Adrienne met Justin," she continues. "She's a very loving, good-hearted woman and family is very important to her. Adrienne takes the high road only, whereas Bonnie does what she has to at any cost! "I'll miss Bonnie because I'm a very bawdy person and I got a kick out of her," Evans says. "But I've missed playing Adrienne, too. I miss playing those high emotional life-or-death stories. Evans explains that her latest Days stay is open-ended. "I'm not sure if I'll be on contract or not," she says. "Whatever works for Ken. Basically, if Ken says jump, I say how high. I feel grateful to him for giving me so many golden opportunities. I'm just so glad to be going back to Days. Leaving there felt like a divorce. I felt like, 'Where's my family?' Hell, I'd clean the bathrooms just to work there again! "I'm looking forward to what [Days' new head writer] Hogan Sheffer has in store for Adrienne," Evans enthuses. "He can go anywhere with this character. One reason I was so disappointed about leaving was that I had barely gotten a chance to work with Hogan's material. I'm really looking forward to having a chance to do that this time." And we're looking forward to watching it! Kudos to Corday for making our Days brighter by keeping one of his show's brightest stars front and center.

from tvguide.com... This just in... Sudsy cable channel SOAPnet has greenlit a fourth season of its reality casting call, I Wanna Be A Soap Star. For the first time, Soap Star contestants won't be vying for a role on an ABC soap opera. This year's winner scores a 13-week contract role on NBC's Days of our Lives, which airs on SOAPnet in same-day reruns. "We have had an incredible partnership with Days of our Lives since acquiring same-day episodes in 2004," said SOAPnet boss Deborah Blackwell. "Our ability to cast a contract role on their show, that has over 40 years of history, speaks to our special relationship. We look forward to working with Days, Corday Productions, Sony Pictures Television and NBC to bring a fantastic new cast member to Days of our Lives." Production on Soap Star 4 is slated to begin in May, and casting for the fourth season's 10 episodes will take place in Miami on March 17, in New York on March 24 and in Los Angeles on March 31. Soap Star 4 will hit the air in August. As expected, the ab-licious Cameron Mathison (Ryan, All My Children) will stay on as host.
Bo and Hope's baby girl, Ciara Alice Brady, has been cast. She was first seen onscreen last week and is portrayed by Danica and Dakoda Hobbs. from tvguide.com... Hurrah! NBC has tapped Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady, Days of our Lives) to replace funnylady Caroline Rhea as host of The Biggest Loser. Sweeney &emdash; who debuted on Days in 1993 &emdash; candidly discussed her own struggles with weight loss and body image in her book, All The Days of My Life (So Far), published in 2004. The currently slimmed-down star keeps her figure by running after her 2-year-old son, Benjamin, and working out at "boot camp" classes as often as possible. "Alison is an incredible talent," says Loser's exec producer Ben Silverman, "and will bring not only a great fresh face to the show but a huge, loyal fan base. We are thrilled and look forward to another strong season." Ali told SOD, "I don't meant to be cheesy, but I really believe in the message of the show." Oh, and no worries, Sami fans: Sweeney's nighttime TV gig shouldn't interfere too much with her Days duties as Salem's resident scheme queen. from nbc.com... This week...

from tvguide.com... Matthew Ashford is returning to NBC's Days of our Lives as Jack Devereaux. The actor recently told Florida's Bradenton Herald newspaper that he had reached an agreement to come back to Salem. Days obviously was unprepared for this random leak and they're keeping mum on the details of Ashford's return for now. "We cannot provide any details regarding casting at this moment," a show rep told TVGuide.com. Why did Ashford first reveal his daytime comeback in a little Florida newspaper, you ask? He just happened to be down there filming an indie movie comedy called The Unlikely's, in which he plays four of the characters, including one who is a soap-opera actor. In other Days news, Judi Evans and Farah Fath will last air as the Lockhart women, Bonnie and Mimi, on Thursday, March 1. Weren't they thinking of replacing Fath as Meems? "As of now, we have no plans to recast Mimi," a Days rep tells TVGuide.com. from sodonline.... from SOWonline...

Yikes! Crazed Days Fan Tries to "Exorcise" Drake Hogestyn Stalker alert! Most soap-opera watchers can tell the difference between a fictional daytime drama and real life. But there have always been a few fans who get a little bit, um, confused. Here's the strangest incident I've heard of in quite awhile: On New Year's Eve, an Oregon man named Carl Raymond Cheney showed up at the home of Days of our Lives star Drake Hogestyn (John Black) in Malibu, Calif., and made a bizarre scene, the AP reports. According to court papers, Cheney was carrying a Bible and seemed to be absorbed in a long-ago Days storyline involving demonic possession. Cheney allegedly ran toward Hogestyn's daughter shouting, "Where is he? I will cast him out!" Hogestyn recounted that he lept off of a ladder and went after Cheney. "This sick person Carl Raymond Cheney believed that Satan was in me and that he was the Christ," Hogestyn stated. "I grabbed him by the hair, spun him around, delivered a right cross to the chin that sent him down the stairs," the actor added. Hogestyn and his son then restrained the guy with duct tape until the local police came and arrested him. This week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Cheney pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and entering private property without permission. An L.A. judge also granted Hogestyn's request for a restraining order against Cheney, who was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay with his father. Cheney must attend psychological counseling sessions and take his prescribed medications. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6.
