The Players

The Story
Billie and Bo arrive in Rome because of their undercover investigation of drug lord, J.L. King. Bo has convinced King that he is a crooked cop looking to make money off drug smuggling. Bo is excited because he feels that after this bust he can throw King in jail and then tell Hope the truth about him and Billie. Bo and Billie have been pretending to be in love for King and his goons' benefit so they will not go after Hope. They weren't able to tell anyone about the ruse because it would put those who knew in grave danger. They arrange a false engagement that shocks everyone (and thrills Kate). Meanwhile Franco tells Kate he wants her to send him and Hope away for a photo shoot. Kate, not knowing Billie and Bo are there, sends them to Rome. (I have absolutely no idea why at this point Franco did not fear for his life because of the Moroni family. I guess the writers thought of that later.)
Bo and Billie do not know Hope and Franco are in Rome and vice versa, but they both coincidentally get booked into the same hotel, the Hotel Doro. The hotel also happens to be where Hope and Bo spent their "second honeymoon." (Hope is even given the same room!)
Although King is an international drug lord, he seems overly preoccupied with Bo's personal life. He decides for Bo to prove his loyalty (and that he is telling the truth about being in love with Billie and not Hope) he has to marry Billie as soon as possible.
During this time a fortune teller continuously tells everyone that they will all go through a great deal of pain before they can find happiness. She also says that Billie and Bo's marriage will cause pain and trouble for all involved.
Hope and Billie both separately know a woman named Monique who is getting married. She is working on Hope and Franco's CW photo shoot. When she talks to Billie, though, she is called away before revealing the woman she is shooting is Hope.
After a few narrow misses Hope, Billie, Bo, and Franco still do not realize that the others are in Rome. Monique agrees to let Billie wear the wedding dress they are using in Hope's photo shoot for her wedding to Bo.
Hope and Franco talk about her feelings for Bo while Franco continues to express his love for Hope. One day he tells her he has an appointment and speeds off. Hope is curious and follows. He goes to an orphanage. When Hope reveals she followed him, he says he didn't tell her where he was going because he didn't want her to pity him because he grew up there. Hope decides he is a sweet, wonderful man.
King anonymously invites Hope and Franco to witness Bo and Billie's marriage. Hope thinks it is another woman (Monique) and man's marriage until she goes to help the bride get ready and it is Billie. However, Hope, being the noble woman she is, agrees to witness the wedding anyway. About half way through the ceremony she passes out, but after she wakes up, the wedding continues.
After Bo and Billie are married, Bo tells King he wants to hurry up and smuggle the drugs so he can get his money and go on with his life. King agrees.
Hope and Franco go back to Salem at this point to attend "Kristen" and John's wedding.
Bo tells Billie to wait for him at the hotel while he does the drug bust. She is worried for his safety but he assures her he has an Interpol agent working with him and he will be okay. Bo meets the Interpol agent, Dean, at a pier. Dean gives Bo a remote that will call him at the push of a button. Then Dean goes to King's goon Max and tells him that Bo is going to betray them. Billie, who decided not to stay at the hotel, overhears this and goes to save Bo.
Max tells King that Bo is a traitor. Bo, meanwhile, hits the remote button because the shipment is there. King confronts Bo and is going to shoot him when the Interpol agent comes. Bo thinks he is there to help him, but of course he helps King. Billie then finds them and pretends to have a gun but Max grabs her. Bo and Billie are put into a cell in King's boat.
When Bo and Billie are going to be transferred, they attempt to escape but only Billie gets away. On the deck there is a fight and Billie jumps into the water as a goon shoots a gun at her. Someone finds a piece of Billie's clothing in the water and it is assumed she is dead. Then the police show up because Billie survived and made it to a phone to call them. They arrest King. Bo goes to the police station and is happy to see Billie and thanks her for saving his life. Bo tries call Hope but can't get a hold of her (she is on a "first date" with Franco). Bo and Billie go back to the hotel.
Billie then tells Bo that she is not going to go back to Salem because it will be too painful to see him and Hope together. Then, realizing she is about lose Bo to Hope for good, begs him to make love to her one last time.
In Salem, Abe interrupts Hope's date with Franco and tells her the truth about Bo and Billie's marriage since the drug bust is over. Hope is overjoyed and decides to go to Rome immediately to be with Bo. Franco goes with her. His boss, Kate, who is paying him to break up Bo and Hope, tells him to kidnap Hope, but he loves her too much.
In Rome, Bo rejects Billie's advances and goes to the airport alone, after trying but failing to convince Billie to come. But the airplane has a problem and the flight is canceled so he goes back to the hotel. Billie thinks he came back for her and again wants to make love to him.
Bo refuses but Billie persists until they end up making out in bed together. Franco bribes the bellboy for the key to Bo's room so Hope can slip into bed with Bo. Of course Hope and Franco select the perfect moment to open the door and see Billie and Bo on the bed together. Hope is shocked and closes the door immediately. After which Bo stops kissing Billie and says he senses Hope's presence nearby, even though he thinks she is in Salem. Bo tells Billie he can't go through with making love to her and Billie relents.
Bo goes back to Salem, anxious to see Hope. Hope, of course, thinks Bo has been sleeping with Billie and doesn't want anything to do with him. Hope never admits that she saw the two of them in bed. Instead, she just tells Bo that it is over. He doesn't understand what went wrong, since she knows that the marriage to Billie was a sham.
Meanwhile in Rome, Max, one of King's goons, captures Billie, ties her to a bed and forces heroin into her. Billie screams and tries to talk Max out of it because she is an ex-addict and she hates drugs, but Max doesn't listen. Billie hallucinates and sees Curtis, who tells her she is a no-good drug addict.
In Salem, Kate is concerned because she has not heard from Billie and that is unlike her. She tells this to Bo, who also gets concerned and has his cop contacts in Rome check on her. They call him and say they don't have a name, but an American woman is in trouble with the drug cartel. This worries Bo so he decides to go back to Rome.
Max lets Billie go, convinced she is addicted. He gives her a business card that says Club Fortuna. He tells her to go there and ask for Dino, who is expecting her and will give her what she needs (heroin). Billie resists going to the club, but does anyway and gets more heroin from Dino. She is still hallucinating about Curtis. Her father insists that she continue with the drugs while insulting her and telling her nobody will ever love her except daddy.
When Bo gets to Rome, he is given a temporary partner, Petra, a cop who always wears a tight, slinky black dress for some reason (she must be undercover). She helps him find the Club Fortuna. She suggests Billie might have gone there (she actually suggests several places that Bo checks out). When Bo finds Billie she tells him she is fine, and to go back to Salem and be with Hope. She says she has new friends, and a new life, so he should leave her alone. Puzzled, Bo leaves the club. However, he gets Max arrested and when he sees him in jail, Max can't help bragging about what he did to Billie. Bo goes to find Billie again.
When he does, Billie is terribly ashamed of her addiction, but Bo is understanding and tells her it isn't her fault. He tries to get her to go back to Salem and get medical attention, but Billie doesn't want anyone to know she is addicted to heroin again and begs Bo to let her stay in Rome. Bo agrees and says he will stay with her until she is better.
Billie goes through terrible withdrawals, and Bo keeps the drugs away from her (I guess they turned out to be heroin and some other stuff that made it even more addictive). At one point Bo leaves to get groceries and takes the needles and drugs with him so Billie doesn't get them. While he is gone Billie starts hallucinating about Curtis again, who tells her Bo isn't coming back and to go get drugs.
Bo meets up with Petra again and explains the situation with Billie. She gets Dino arrested, but Billie, who left the hotel room to find Dino and get drugs, sees him being arrested. She lays on a park bench and has flashbacks about losing Bo to Hope.
Meanwhile in Salem, Carrie and Austin have been married, much to Sami's dismay, and have decided to honeymoon to Rome. Actually, Austin decided on the spot and surprised Carrie. They are secretive about where they are going because they do not want Sami to find out and ruin their honeymoon. Austin is anxious to see Bo and his sister Billie, as he thinks they are in love and honeymooning (thanks to Kate).
Bo goes back to the hotel room and sees Billie is gone. He freaks out and goes looking for her. He finds her quickly and brings her back to the hotel, determined to help her kick her drug habit for good. He promises not to leave her.
Austin and Carrie spend a lot of time in their hotel room, still unable to locate Bo and Billie, but having a good time. Austin suddenly gets the feeling someone he cares about is in danger but he tries to dismiss it.
In Bo and Billie's hotel room, Billie is hallucinating about Curtis again. Then she sees Bo's spirit come out of his body while he is praying for her, and it fights with Curtis's soul. Oh brother! Curtis wants Billie's soul but Bo sends Curtis's soul back to hell. Billie wakes up and thanks Bo for saving her soul from Curtis. Bo, of course, does not understand and just figures it is the drugs talking.
Kate calls Carrie and Austin to see if they are having a good time. Sami hears Kate talking and asks her where Carrie and Austin are. Kate won't tell and crumples up the phone number. She then leaves her office and Sami simply picks up the phone and hits redial, finding out not only what city Carrie and Austin are in, but the hotel as well. She decides to send them a little wedding present, a man, as she puts it.
Back in Rome, Bo and Billie finally run into Austin and Carrie. Austin can tell something is wrong with Billie but they just tell him that she had bad food poisoning. Carrie and Austin tell Bo that Hope is on a vacation with Franco. Actually Hope is in the jungle with John, Kristen, and Stefano looking for a cure for Roman but since Franco is gone in France and no one knows Hope is with John, everyone assumes they are together.
In Salem, Sami manages to trick Mike into going to Rome. He doesn't know Carrie and Austin are there for their honeymoon. He thinks going to a medical conference in Rome will get his mind off Carrie. He ends up getting a hotel room right across from Austin and Carrie's, although he doesn't know it right away, and neither do they.
Mike goes to the Piazza and sees someone he knows. Her name is Debra, a doctor he knows from Israel. They catch up. Debra asks if he is seeing anyone. He says no but he is in love with a woman from Salem but he has to get over her because she is married. They agree to meet later.
There is a costume festival going on in Rome. Austin and Carrie get costumes and go. Debra gets costumes for her and Mike because they had agreed to go together. Mike and Austin coincidentally end up with the same costumes. Austin leaves Carrie alone for a couple minutes, so when she sees Mike in costume, she thinks it is Austin (the costumes cover their faces). She gives him a big kiss as Austin walks up behind them. Carrie turns and realizes she just kissed someone besides her husband. She is terribly embarrassed until he reveals himself as Mike. They all laugh and Mike explains to them he had no idea they were in Rome and he is there for a medical conference. They meet up with Debra and spend time together.
Carrie and Debra have some time alone and Debra tells Carrie that Mike is in love with a married woman from Salem. Carrie is shocked and feels bad that she had been trying to play matchmaker for Mike, not realizing the married woman is her. She decides that Mike and Debra should get together.
Later, Austin decides to go check up on Bo and Billie. Billie is going through withdrawals and appears very sick to Austin, who tells her she needs a doctor. He goes and gets Mike.
Billie insists Mike examine her without Austin in the room. Austin leaves. Bo and Billie then tell Mike that Billie is sick because she is going through heroin withdrawals. He agrees to keep it a secret and gets drugs from some doctor friends that are at the conference that will help her. Bo starts having a feeling someone he loves is in danger. He calls Shawn D in Salem, but he's just fine. He tells Bo that he thinks Hope is with Franco on vacation. Bo shakes the feeling. However, his feeling is right because Hope is actually still in the jungle and is in danger.
Debra tells Carrie she likes Mike but is too shy to tell him. Carrie butts in and starts asking Mike weird questions about his feelings while Debra hides and listens. At first Mike thinks she is saying that she wants him, but he figures out she is talking about Debra. Unfortunately, he has already said he has feelings for the woman (thinking it was about Carrie) so Carrie thinks he is interested in Debra, as does Debra.
Back in Bo and Billie's hotel room, Austin hugs Billie and notices the track marks on her arm. He gets angry at first but then he learns that it isn't her fault. She also explains to Austin that her marriage to Bo is a fraud. Billie decides to rest.
Austin and Bo talk. Austin points out that Hope is with Franco now and that Billie has always been there for him and loves him. He tells Bo that he thinks Bo really loves Billie and should give their love a chance.
When Billie wakes up, Austin is gone but Bo is there. She tells Bo she had a wonderful dream that she was carrying his baby. She says he must be looking forward to her recovery so he can go be with Hope. He tells her it is over between he and Hope and he wants to try being with Billie. Billie is thrilled, of course, and says that she is very interested in that.
In Salem, Kate talks to Austin and Carrie on the phone as Sami listens. Sami learns about Debra, who does not fit her plans. She decides to go to Rome. She blackmails Kate into paying for it, first class all the way. Bo has also called Kate and asked if she had heard from Hope because he can't get over the feeling someone he loves is in danger. Kate told him she just talked to Hope (liar!) and that she and Franco are having a wonderful time.
Bo can't stop thinking about Hope and Billie can tell. She asks him if he wants to take back what he said about getting back together but he says that no, he still wants to. He says he has to get over Hope because she is with Franco.
Mike has attended his medical conference, and according to everyone, he was brilliant. He and Debra are double dating with Austin and Carrie on a regular basis. When it is time for Debra to go home, Mike talks her into staying.
The next day Sami arrives in Rome. She gets an adjoining hotel room right next to Carrie and Austin's and steals a bellboy's keys so she can spy on them by opening the adjoining door. She walks in on Carrie and Austin in bed, much to her dismay. She also spies Carrie writing in her diary. Then she goes and gets a nun outfit so she will not be recognized walking around Rome.
Back in Salem, Kate talks to Franco on the phone (he is still in Europe on a photo shoot). She tells him about Sami blackmailing her because of the number of items she has on Kate. One is the fact she hired Franco to break up Bo and Hope. He is very upset that it might come out and ruin his chances with Hope forever.
Sami decides she wants to read Carrie's diary so she waits until they leave the hotel room and she goes into and takes it. She starts to read it, but unfortunately for her, they come back while she is there and she has to hide under the bed while Austin and Carrie continue to celebrate their honeymoon on the bed, right above Sami. Carrie takes a shower and Austin falls asleep. Sami gets out of her hiding place and kisses Austin in his sleep. Austin, thinking it is Carrie, kisses her back. Then Sami darts back into her room with Carrie's diary. Carrie soon discovers her diary is missing.
In the Piazza, Petra is back and Bo introduces her to Billie. Petra tells Billie that in order to convict Dino she needs Billie to testify, but the records will not be sealed, and Billie's drug addiction may come out. Although upset by that, Billie agrees to be questioned, because convicting Dino is more important.
Billie runs into Sami, who is still dressed as a nun. She doesn't recognize her and starts telling Sami her troubles. She thinks Sami has taken a vow of silence. She talks about her abusive father and how Bo means so much to her. When Billie lets her go, Sami returns the diary to Carrie and Austin's room.
In the Piazza Bo and Billie, Carrie and Austin, and Mike and Debra are spending time together. Mike has bought Debra a silk scarf but it is noticed that is isn't her colors, but rather Carrie's. Debra gives the scarf to Carrie. The song "You are so Beautiful" comes on and Carrie recalls dancing with someone to the song and it being special. She does not remember that it was with Mike and Austin says it was not with him. Mike remembers, but does not say anything.
The fortune teller talks to Billie alone and tells her the other woman that Bo is in love with is in great danger. Billie doesn't say anything to Bo about it at first. She tells Austin though, who tells her to forget about what the fortune tellers says, Hope is fine and with Franco, and to relax.
Also in the Piazza, Sami is being followed and finally he grabs her. It is Franco and he says he is there to stop her. Sami quickly covers and says that since Billie confided in her, she grew sympathetic to her, and would not tell on Franco's involvement in breaking up Bo and Hope. She tells him she never had anything against him and still has plenty of other blackmail on Kate. She suggests they pair and help each other. She tells him if he helps break up Austin and Carrie that she will help him get Hope. Franco reluctantly agrees, threatening her not to double cross him. They also discuss that neither of them knows where Hope is.
Sami has Franco tell the DJ to tell everyone to switch dance partners. Mike and Carrie end up dancing of course.
Bo tells Billie she needs rest so they should return to the hotel room. When they get there Billie tells Bo she has something to tell him (she is going to tell him what the fortune teller said) but Bo tells Billie he has something to say too, he wants to make love to her (so much for rest!). He then asks what she was going to say, but she says it isn't important and she and Bo go to bed.
Sami and Franco are still scheming back at the Piazza. Franco "runs into" Debra on the way back from powdering her nose (she has never met Franco). She tells him she has to go because her boyfriend is there. Franco feigns surprise when she points out who her boyfriend is, Mike, because he thought it looked as though Mike was in love with "that woman" (he points to Carrie). She says that, no, Mike wouldn't fall in love with a married woman. Then she remembers Mike telling her he had been in love with a woman who had recently gotten married. Debra returns to the table and Mike suggests they go to her room for a nightcap. She agrees. First she talks to Carrie alone though, and asks about her relationship with Mike. Carrie says they are just friends. Debra decides Franco is wrong. Carrie realizes it is bothering her to see Mike and Debra together and wonders why.
Sami and Franco have the band play "You are so Beautiful" over and over. In Debra's room Mike and Debra are getting close. But then they start talking and she asks if Carrie is the woman Mike is in love with. He tells her that she is but that he has to move on. They begin to kiss again but Mike's heart is not in it so they stop. Mike can't stop thinking about Carrie, especially with the song playing. Mike looks out the window. At the same time Carrie realizes where she remembers the song from and looks at the window. Sami sees them and knows her plans is working.
The next day Bo and Billie go to the hot springs and have a romantic time, despite Bo's feeling that Hope is in danger.
Mike and Austin find out about Roman's being on his deathbed and tell Carrie. Sami overhears and screams "No!" but they do not find her or know it is her. They decide to go back to Salem and barley miss each other on the plane.
Back in Rome, Bo and Billie are the only two remaining. They call Kate and she tells Bo that Hope is back and had a great time. Soon Bo and Billie decide to return to Salem because Billie is pretty much recovered. At some point she tells Bo what the fortune teller told her about Hope, but Bo forgives her, because it wasn't like she actually knew anything, just a fortune teller's premonition.
That is it for Rome. Everyone goes home and the stories continue!
