On this page I decided to post some of the eternal questions about Days. These are the questions that make Days unique because only in Salem do things like this happen. For these questions there are no answers, just more questions...
Can somebody please explain Susan's teeth to me? Okay, she has bad teeth. She has quite the overbite...which means they protrude from her mouth. Right? So, how come when she puts in the fake teeth, somehow her real teeth disappear into her mouth! (Romy Welter)
How, when, and why did Susan become a main character? She was originally just some little knocked up chick used to carry out Kristen's little plan but it seems that these "Days" Eileen Davidson is always on the screen, either in Susan garb or Kristin garb, or as Susan as Kristen. UGH! Granted, I'm all in favor of Kristen's nefarious plans getting messed up but there's only so much more "Oh, Elvis. Mama's gonna work this all out. Now don't you worry now. That mean ole Kristin and that weird Vivian girl can't keep me from your Daddy" that I can take! (Julie Smallwood)
There was nary a mention to the father of Susan's baby. How did Stefano and Kristen know that the baby would even be white once Susan gave birth? The father could have been black or Chinese, but besides for the Carvers, their are no minorities left in Salem!!!! (Robert)
Why is it that when Susan becomes Kristen she can change her voice to the exact likeness of it? What are the odds that Stefano found someone with the exact same bone structure, who is really having a baby, and can act well enough to fool not only Mr. Clueless, but Vivian and Ivan, and Laura (a doctor of reasonable smarts), and Lynn... the list goes on. Did the DiMera clan find cloning before the rest of us? (Chazz Martin)
While Kristen was locked up in the secret room, wedding ring on and all, Susan was impersonating Kristen with the exact same ring on her finger. How did that happen? The wedding ring isn't as important to the writers as it used to be. Earlier in the storyline, it was a big issue to make sure that Susan and Kristen exchanged the ring when they exchanged places. (Kevin)
Just lately have they talked about the sudden appearance of the "Elvis" tattoo on Susan/Kristen's leg. Where was this tattoo while she was going to her doctor appointments and having the baby...or did she wear socks the whole time too??? (ProfWhite)
What was with the weave? Weaves grow out. And you can't exactly run your fingers through a weave. Wouldn't someone notice that SKristen had mousy brown roots and scraggly hair? But since we never saw that, I guess Susan just had her roots done a lot. Oh, that brings me to her nails. The whole time Susan was being Kristen at the doctor's appointments, she had a perfect french manicure just like Kristen, but at home, she had short ugly nails. Did she just get some Lee press on nails and put them on on the way to the hospital? (anca)
Kristen usually gave Susan just a few minutes to be anywhere. And how did she get there? Susan was never seen with a car. Did she walk? Maybe the bus? But there has never been a bus in Salem. (anca)
What ever happened to Susan's apartment and all the stuffed animals? And where are all her ugly baggy clothes? (anca)
How was it that Marlena never got the chance to meet John and Kristin's baby nurse before she was locked up so that she could realize it was her patient Susan, and catch on sooner? (Gloria V.)
Why is it that everyone talks out loud to
themselves and people standing right outside the room never hear
them, and when you are in the same room you can hear someone quietly
whisper on the other side of the room no matter how big the room is
or how far away you are? (Lorie S.)
This situation always seems to work in favor of the evil person who's
manipulating the others. No one ever overhears something that you
want them to overhear. It's when you don't want them to hear it that
they catch on.
Does Franco have super-hearing? He always seems to be able to hear through closed doors and windows. Example: When Alice and everyone threw that "wedding party" the day before Bo and Hope's almost wedding. I think it was either Alice and Mike or Maggie and Mike that were going through old picture slides of Bo and Hope together to show on the projector and they found a couple of Bo and Billie in the pictures. Franco was outside looking in through a CLOSED window or door and he heard them say "this one's of Bo and Billie we better check the rest." and snuck in the house after they were done sorting and put the Bo/Billie slides back in. (Kenzie)
Isn't so convienent when Viv and Ivan always have to talk to Kristen secretly, John always seem to leave the room? Doesn't he wonder what they do or talk about when he isn't around? (Maka)
John and Kristen always hear John Jr. crying through the baby monitor, but they never hear anything when Susan talks to herself outloud. (Kevin)
Something that really bothers me is when certain characters are talking in one room and other characters are next-door in the another room. If they just went to the door and eavesdropped, they would save a lot of pain and embarrassment. For example, when Susan was in the bathroom venting about Kristen, John and Marlena could have easily listened in and figured out part of the truth. How come when Kristen is in the nursery going on and on about Marlena and talking to herself about her plan to lock Susan in the secret room, John and Marlena could have also listened in from the hallway, but somehow miss the conversation. When Bo is talking to Abe about his undercover plot to bust King's drug ring, and Hope is on the other side of the door, she could listen in and understood why Bo was lying to her and trying to protect her and keep her out of the case. This would prevent heartbreak. Or why couldn't Hope have snuck up on Bo and Billie during one of their meetings with King and overheard when Bo said to Billie that he wants to be with Hope and wants this whole charade to be over???? This would prevent a lot of suspicion, worry, heartbreak, embarrassment, and awkwardness. (Kate Campbell)
Did you ever wonder what happened to Max Brady....one day he went upstairs and never returned. (He would be about 16 by now.) Didn't he disappear just about the time the Brady Pub was built? He was always seen when it was a Fish Market. Did something happen to him during the construction?
Who is watching all the kids all the time? It always seems that Brady, Belle and Abby are no where to be seen and apparently without babysitters. (Although Jenn does seem to have hired a permanent babysitter in the last month or so--Mrs. Peterson, who is never seen.) (Laurie)
I must note that Will is an exception to this rule. He is almost always with Sami or Austin, and if not, his whereabouts are usually mentioned. For once, Days is actually giving a parent, even a young single one, the responsibility of having a child.
I really have to give my sympathy to poor Belle and Brady. Eccept for the odd excursion they seem to spend their entire lives sleeping upstairs. John or Marlena is always saying "Why don't you wake up the kids so we can go to the park" and then when they return the kids are always quickly swept away with "Why don't you go get ready for bed" at an unholy hour of late afternoon. (Dorian)
I'm surprised that all of the children in Salem aren't the chubbiest kids in the world. Anytime we finally see them on screen, they are whisked away by "cook" or one of their grandparents into the kitchen for milk and cookies. Do these kids eat anything else?
Are Shawn and Caroline running an illegal boarding house for all of the Salem tots?? None of the Brady kids ever stay at home, they are always there. How many bedrooms are in this "kiddie motel?" Belle and Brady haven't been fed in months! Someone call child welfare!!! (KMcGin)
Okay why is it that Mrs. H is always around just to watch the kids. If Jennifer is asked about Abby she always relpies "Abby's at grandma's house." "I have to pick up Abby from grandma's." "Let me drop Abby off at grandmas." Now Marlenas bunch...Belle never referred to unless Marlena wants to use her against Kristen or to see John in some way. Now we all know she is not old enough to stay home by herself. Eric is in Colorado and Marlena makes no attemps to see him. Doesn't she want to say Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas on the occasion? She didn't even care about Sami unitl she got hit by Austin's car. And she is so close to Carrie they have a real Mother daughter relationship and Carrie isn't even her daughter!!! (Candace McArthur)
Sami and Austin always send Will over to Jonah and Wendy's to be taken care of. I have no problem with that, except that the actors who play them quit about a year ago, and they haven't replaced them. So, when they send Will over to Wendy's they are sending him to stay by himself in a non-existing place. (Becky)
Every time Sami and Austin have to go out, one of them will leave Will with Wendy. Now, it's good that they're responsible parents, but doesn't Wendy have a life? Any given time of night or day, Will will be with Wendy. Three in the morning? No problem, Wendy will take care of Will. What would they do if Wendy wasn't home one day? Sami might have to stay home, then she wouldn't be able to carry out her evil plans to break up Austin and Carrie. (Valerie Yeung)
There are a many childern living in Salem and I'd like to know where they are all the time and who is taking care of them while everyone is out of the counry, dead, in jail, or God knows where? Children such as Phillip, Abby, Belle, Brady, Shawn D-- I'm sure I've skipped over a few but none of these kids are old enough to be taking care of themselves. Some of them like Phillip aren't seen for months at a time. How do these people carry on such "glamorous" lives but never have to so much as hire a babysitter? Or do the Horton's run some sort of secret 24 hr. day care? (Erin)
How come no one cares about their kids until they're adults? Sami and Eric are always on the show these days, but doesn't Marlena care about her other child, Belle? No wonder Salemites grow up to lead such twisted lives, they suffered from severe neglect when they were normal kids! (Whitney)
Why did John send Brady to live with Marlena? Talk about bad parenting skills. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't exactly trust my kid with someone who had been possessed by the devil. Does John even realize that Belle and Brady are his children, or did that memory get wiped away too? What about poor little Phillip? Does the kid EVER get out? Unlike Belle and Brady, he has no sitter or anybody with him. What he do that was so terrible that he had to be sent upstairs by himself, only to come down at Christmas? The child welfare people should really check on this. (n/a n/a)
It amazes me that the children in Salem are so well-adjusted, or so it seems, considering all their parents ever do is worry about their love lives or chase a loved one and try to get them to admit they still love each other. Or, they're at the Penthouse Grille or at Chez Vous, having a romantic dinner. And the only time the children are ever seen that I can recall is when they had the circus in Salem. A lot of the kids that get shoved off on their grandparents like Shawn and Caroline, are way too young to realize that the way their parents (John, Marlena, kate,Sami) are acting towards them is wrong, but if I were Shawn-D, I'd ream out Bo and Hope for leaving me at the pub all the time with my grandparents. And the funny thing is is that Shawn-D never seems upset when he catches a word with Bo or Hope. I remember when Hope miscarried in the 80's and wanted a child so bad. Now that she has one, she pays no attention to it! She's always off on a quest about her past! That would be a great storyline if Shawn-D ran away due to the neglect of his parents. That would get them thinking. When is he going to get a love interest? (Kate Campbell)
Do the kids at Salem High have a normal school day? They act like college students -- "I have a class now, I have to get back." When I was in high school, you went from 8-3 or whatever it was, but you couldn't leave school, go to the mall for a few hours, and return for another class without actually ditching. (Carly)
Some
questions about the 2002 Salem High graduation...
Are there typically more students than parents at a graduation. At
Salem High, there seemed to only be a 10 foot section of bleachers
for parents, while the students took up the whole gym floor.
Are there no students with last names that begin with B-K? After Belle Black and Shawn Brady got their diploma's, the next one to receive a diploma was Philip Kiriakis. Then after several "L" students, Chloe Lane, Kevin Lambert, and Mimi Lockhart, there were no more students. Everyone had received their diploma.
Why didn't students line up for graduation well before the ceremony started? Mr. Woods had to yell "places for procession" to get the ceremony to begin.
Thanks for Emily for giving me the idea for this section
Why is it that everybody in Salem is financially stable? They either all have great jobs (cops, doctors, lawyers, etc.),own businesses, work for someone who owns a business, inherited a fortune, or is blackmailing someone for a huge sum of money. We hardly ever meet someone who is struggling financially. And when we do meet someone with a normal job or none at all, they seem to move up in the world very quickly by getting a great job, inheriting a fortune, getting their own business...etc, etc, etc. (Bob King)
Is there a single college graduate in Salem? Jennifer started at Salem U, but after she got her internship at the Spectator, she left school to lust for Jack. Sami also dropped out of Salem U when she had to lust after Austin. Actually, it seems Carrie did the same thing, as did Lucas (lusting for Carrie). How did they land these jobs without a college education? I guess school always is second on the list, when time needs to be devoted to catching someone who doesn't love you.
At Titan Publishing, four unqualified execs are inexplicably succeeding without any real education. There's Austin (ex-boxer/ex-musician), Carrie (former model), Lucas (Mama's boy) and Sami (did this chick even get her high school diploma?). How do any of them have a clue about what to do? Is it possible that we might ever see one of them fail in their jobs and realize that an education might be a benefit in the corporate world? (Beth, SOD) Salemites only have them when it's convenient. How do Jack, Jennifer, Kristen, and John make a living? We haven't seen any of them work for months. (Although John apparently went by the office once in Dec. 1996). Presumably Jack and Jennifer both still work at WTGB news, but what do they do there? How are they able to buy things for their daughter? Marlena and Laura stop by their offices and visit patients in the middle of the night, just to get out of the house. And who exactly is running Titan Publishing these days? Although Kate and Vivian are fighting for control of it, neither of them seems to go the the office.
I've never seen Mike Horton anywhere but University Hospital. Day or night he's always there when someone needs something. Good grief! Doesn't he ever go home and sleep? Doesn't he ever go ANYwhere else? (Cag)
Why does modeling always affect Bo's relationships? When he was with Billie, he modeled with Hope, and Billie fumed!! Now, Hope is modeling with Franco and Bo is fuming? And why didn't Bo offer to model? He did it in the past and he was supposedly great at it. Remember the photographers said that Bo & Hope had this "great chemistry," now they say that about Hope & Franco!! (Molly Green)
Isn't Jen a supposed talk show host? The last time that set was shown was when? Did John retire from the Bella board of directors to become a full time squinter? (KMcGin)
How long has Hope been on suspension now? Eight or nine months? That's a pretty harsh punishment. And since when is she so eager to go back to police work? A few weeks ago she said all she wanted was to be a wife and mother. (Liberty Blend)
Did anyone go to college to have these great professions? No one ever mentions that? (anca)
What's the most widespread occupation in Salem?
a. Cop
b. Ad Exec
c. Doctor
d. being paid to steal someone away from their true love (Jeff
White)
Have you ever noticed that Maggie always seems to have time, yet have you considered all of her jobs - Hostess at Wings, Co-Manager at Alice's, a perfect lawyer wife to Mickey, on every committee in town, like the Horton Center, Hospital, etc... and she finds time to babysit for John and Marlena. She's superwoman. (Tonya)
If Jenn is supposed to be some sort of "hot shot" reporter, why hasn't she been at work for the last 3 months? She must be too busy at the circus and posing as Hope to worry about her real job. (Jennifer)
Sami
is a highly paid executive at Titan and yet she never graduated from
high school. She ran away in the spring of her senior year, then had
Will months later. She's a high school dropout. It's one thing not to
have a college degree and have that sort of job, but to not have
earned a diploma is ridiculous. (info from Sean Johnson and
Stacy)
About those cell phones...not only does every Salemite have one (and few of them actually need them), but the majority of them seem to have the same one. The local cell phone company must have been having one hell of a sale, because every Salemite purchased the same white phone. In the past they had many different types of phones, but now they are all identical. It's a white flip phone with a three inch long antenna. Kristen carries hers most often, but Marlena has also been seen with the same one, as well as Kate and Billie.
Did anyone else notice that Susan was using the BLACK flip-phone? Not the white one that every other woman in Salem uses. That should be a big clue to her identity. (Shannon Murray)
Why is that everyone in Salem has a cell phone, yet when they really need to be reached they either don't have it with them or the person calling doesn't even try that number? (Marc Schroeder)
How come everyone has a cell phone that never runs out of power unless they actually need to use it? Jude had Hope out in the snowy moubtains for weeks was constantly using his phone. (Deborah)
Why does John Black have the same cell phone, yet he abuses it so badly?? Watch him the next time he uses it. He slams the antenna down and slaps the flip part shut!! He should have gone through about 50 of them by now!! (Molly Green)
Why is it that no one, not even the police, have police scanners? Then they'd be able to HEAR all those notorious cell-phone conversations and find out sooooo much cool stuff like Kristen's connection with Susan, Stefano's big secrets, Peter's connection with Jude, and Kate's alleged connection with Franco. If King had a scanner, he'd find out for sure that Bo was working undercover.... For those writers to use modern technology as a crutch all the time, they conveniently leave out one of the most important things. (Missy)
Billie and Bo are NEVER seen without out their cell phones unless they are escaping to the Horton cabin the night before Bo and Hope's wedding. Isn't that convienient??!! (Stephanie Hurd)
Since when do cell phones work overseas? From the time that Hope, Bo, Billie, and Franco have been in Rome, they have all, at one time or another, used their cell phones. Bo called Abe just the other day...they must have some high powered cell phones...and some extremely high roaming charges too!!! (Kate)
As far as cell phones, first, everyone uses them in University Hospital. Anyone who has ever been in a hospital knows that every ten feet practically there is a sign that says "No cell phones"--they mess up the equipment. (Kristin)
Since the appearance of cell phones, one Days tradition has disappeared. In the olden days, a character could always be tracked down no matter where he was. People were always getting calls as Wings or Shenanigan's, the hospital, or any person's house they might have stopped at. I believe that's the main reason characters like Dave at Wings and Joey at Shenanigans existed. They were the ones who answered the phone and passed along the messages. We no longer have these ridiculous scenes, since cell phones allow people to be contacted wherever they are. No one would survive in Salem without them.
I noticed on a recent episode that Mike was about to make a call on his cell phone in the hospital. Now, correct me if I'm wrong...but whenever I enter my local hospital, there are several prominent signs warning us to turn off our cell phones. It interferes with life support machines or something. So shouldn't Mike know that cell phones and hospital's don't mix? He did go to medical school, didn't he? And anyway, how many people use cell phones in hospitals in Salem. Can't you just hear the Code Blues now? (CaasiL)
If
Mimi is poor what is she doing with a cell phone? (Sharon)
The
thing that drives me crazy about the cell phones is not just the fact
that everone carries the same one, but they are so out of DATE!! They
are huge and ugly! No one carries cell phones that big. Hello 1987!
They're three times bigger than my cell! (Lauren)
If you think about it, a soap year must be maybe 100 days because story lines last over the course of 2-3 days, sometimes up to 1-2 weeks in "real time". For example: Christmas time must be a real bummer because technically speaking there is only a week or two between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ironically, characters have that rapid aging syndrome so they really are aging twice as fast! (Jenny)
Why is it that one day in Salem time equals to 1 week our time? But at the same time, their time can go faster? When Billie and Kate were in Billie's apartment while she was packing, Hope was on her way there, wouldn't she have passed Billie and Kate while they were on their way out? (And why didn't Billie get her key back from Hope, and how did she keep her apartment while she was in Paris?) (author unknown)
How is it that if Sami and Eric were born in 1984, that Sami is old enough to drink alcohol in any nightclub in Salem?? By my estimations, she is "supposed" to be 20 in the show, yet, her character is only REALLY 12 years old? Same thing for Shawn Douglas. He is only 10 by dates, but not the way he acts. (Shannon Murray) The drinking age in Salem must be lower than anywhere else in the US. Sami and Carrie were drinking alcohol long before their 21 birthdays (Sami is still not 21). Since they both have a cop as a father and are members of a fairly conservative catholic family, you would think they couldn't get away with such a thing. Next thing we know, Abby will be joining in on the champagne at the next Salem celebration.
Can anyone explain why Days characters seems to look younger while they're getting older? The current Mike Horton looks younger than the previous one. It's the same thing for Laura. (Marie Blais)
There is no way that the parents on Days are old enough to have the children they do. Laura looks about 45-50 on the show, so how is it that she has 30 year old Mike, who we know she did not have at age 15 or 20. What about poor Alice Horton, who has a great great grandson, Scotty Banning, who is nearly 30. We know Alice is old, but not that old. What about her granddaughter Julie, who is about 60-65, while her other grandchildren, like Jennifer and Mike, are only in their late 20-early 30s?
Why does Shawn-D talk like a big guy? Why does Bo confide in him and Shawn-D asks "Do you still have feelings for Billie? Are you still in love with Billie" etc, etc. I can't imagine anyone talking like that at such an young age. [But then he's probably drinking by now too.] Or is it because Bo has no one to talk to and I'm sure everyone in Salem have got bored of Bo/Hope/Billie stuff and they don't want to talk about it anymore? (Nikki)
How can Carrie be such a young high powered executive? How old is she? 23? (MintCure)
Hope was supposedly born in 1974 (on the show), the same year as Carrie (according to her latest age report). However, Shawn Douglas was born in 1987! That would make Hope (in real years) a 13 year old mother!!! The show claims that Hope is now 30, and that S. D. is now 12, but that still makes her 18 at his birth!! I didn't think she was THAT young when she married Bo! (Kara)
If Hope was born in 1974, and Shawn-D is 12, she would have been 11 when she gave birth to him (in Days years) Jenn was born in 76, so she would have been in her late teens when she had Abby. Doesn't anyone care about these teen pregnancies? Didn't any of them have to drop out of high school? I guess not when they have Mrs. H to take care of everything. (anca)
I swear I heard Will crying just like a newborn baby in the background of a scene. He's supposedly over a year old. Why, when they brought him out a second later, did he look as calm as can be and is much older? (Gloria V. and Jenny Reid)
I still do not understand the timeframes on Days. When Bo and Billie were finishing up w/the JL King case, and Bo was trying to let Billie down easy, Hope was on her way to Rome to see Bo, (of course with Franco.....why the hell would she bring HIM, knowing that Bo hates him?? Weren't Bo and Hope supposed to finally be reunited??? What does that have to do with Franco??). In the ENTIRE time that Bo and Billie were having that "Please make love to me, Bo" conversation, Hope talked to Abe and found out the truth, packed her stuff, gathered up Franco, and flew (what? 7 hours?) all the way to Rome, and they were STILL talking about it!!! I mean, they hadn't even gotten naked yet when Hope and Franco walked in. Gimme a break! (Corey)
Carrie wasn't brought on the show until she was four or five, and that was in 84. Okay, that would mean she was born around 80. So, about the same time Carrie was born, Mike was already an adult and MARRIED. His wife, Margo, died of leukemia. (Very touching story, and one of the reason, if not the main one, that made Mike decide to become a doctor.) By that time, Mike had also had an affair with Linda Patterson and fallen in love with Trish Clayton. In 83, Mike dated Kayla, Carrie's aunt. When Mike and Robin had Jeremy, Carrie was only in sixth grade. Somehow, the writers seem to have forgotten all of that, and other bits of Salem history. (Has anyone else noticed that Mike hasn't aged in the last 15 years?) (Brook)
When Richard Biggs (Marcus Hunter) was interviewed recently, he laughed at the idea of a Mike/Carrie coupling. He said, "Carrie was like nine years old when Michael Weiss was playing Mike Horton."
How is it that Gina's daughter, Greta, looks to be the about same
age as Gina? When did Gina have her, when she was five? (Robin)
How old is Greta supposed to be? She's dating Eric who is supposed to be in his early 20's. Bo and John have referred to her as a "sweet kid." She looks about 8 in all the Princess Gina flashbacks from the mid 80's which would make her about 23, and yet was supposed to have impersonated Hope in the explosion 10 years ago. (Amber)
I was watching DAYS one day, and Shawn-Douglas was reminiscing about his mother, Hope, with his father, Bo, saying that when he was in first grade, she gave him a nightlight, to keep him safe, and to remind him that Hope would always be near. Well, if I recall, that would be in about 1993, and no one in Salem even knew that Hope was alive. She was dead. Obviously, if he's grown up so much, they must be meaning a long time ago, before she "died," but this was too big an error for even a devoted follower to take. (Kate Campbell)
The aging process in Salem really confuses me. I'm OK with Sami and Hope being much older than their actual birthdates because all soaps rapidly age the kids. What bothers me is that Shawn was born in 1987 but is now the same age as Belle who was born in 1993. Brady was born in 1992, five years after Shawn in real time, yet he's now THREE years older than Shawn. Huh? (Denise)
Time Zones don't exist in the world of Days... You can be on an island eating breakfast and its the same time is Salem... OR you can go to Paris to rescue a kidnapped baby and eat lunch the same time that they are lunching in Salem.(robinsnest)
You
know, Brady and Abby were both born in 1992, but Brady is like twenty
- one or something on the show when Abby is still a little girl.
(gaby)
If
you ask me it is pretty obvious that Brady and Nicole will become a
couple. So ok it could be an older - woman - younger - man - thing.
BUT, Brady is like 11 years old in real years while Nicole is like
twenty - five. I remember when she first came to the show five years
ago and she was over twenty and he was around six, seven. That really
bugs me, because they look the same age! (gaby)

Salem--A
Magical City |
How do Days characters get from one place to another so fast? They never travel from one place to another, and if they say they'll be right there, they sure mean it! Salem must be a very small town with no traffic and high speed limits. (Knight)
How can it be possible for the entire town of Salem all jump on a plane and end up in Paris like it was a trip to the local shopping center? (Matt Vadas)
When everyone was in Paris, one morning Austin phoned to check on Sami. It was also morning in Salem. How can that be possible? Why did everyone in Paris manage to meet at the same cafe, usually at the same table, with the same song being played in the background. (Rhonda)
Why Oh Why, and when did Salem became a Big
City. When Hope and Bo where looking for Jill they keep saying how
hard it was for them to find Jill because it was such a Big City.
Since when is Salem a Big City? When Dr. Tom Horton was a doctor he
was a country doctor. Now Mike, Tom's grandson is a doctor at the
same hospital but Mike is a Big City doctor and a doctor of all
trades. Gee I hope if I ever get hurt he is my doctor because no
matter what is wrong with me Mike can fix it. (Cain)
How come every one is a Catholic and goes to Saint Lukes? If this is
a big city, why no more churches? (Dean and Denise Lollis)
If Salem is such a big city, then why do the same group of people celebrate the holidays together? You would think some of them would go out of town to visit relatives. (Dean and Denise Lollis)
I've decided that Salem is a big city just disguised as a little city. It has all the conveniences of a big city, but only holds a few thousand people. That way everyone knows everyone else and can spill dirty secrets to the people who shouldn't know them.
When Laura escaped from Stefano (and was immediately caught) she ran through the woods, apparently for quite a distance by how out of breath she was. But on the next day's episode, Jack, Jenn, John, and Marlena got a call from a neighbor from across the street from where Laura was held captive, telling them he saw lights on in the house. If there is a neighbor across the street, why in the world would Laura run through the woods when she could run to the neighbor's for help? (Michael Madden)
It takes less than a minute to get from ANYWHERE to someone's house or the hospital when someone has to be caught doing anything devious, but when John had to go home to ask Marlena if she really loved him, it took three shows. And I think it was the first time that the Salem PD enforced the speed limit. (anca)
Why is it when one person is in a country suddenly everyone hops a plane and shows up there too for some strange reason? Like when everyone was in Paris last year and now the cast is rotating it's way in and out of Rome, as if it's just down the street from Salem. (Erin)
I want to know why everyone else in Salem knows where exactly to go when they go to visit someone else in another place. For example, in New Orleans, Bo had no clue where Hope was, yet he was able to pinpoint exactly her hotel and question the manager. New Orleans is a big city and there's no way he would have known that Hope was staying in that particular hotel, much less the same one where John and Marlena were staying, too! Another example, in Rome, or Paris, everyone was able to meet up with everyone else, I hardly doubt anyone told anyone else where they were staying, yet they run into one another on the street, it's just like Salem Place! Now, Paris and Rome are huge, huge cities, how is this possible?????? However, in Aremid, I guess it was possible for everyone to run into each other since they were there for Peter and Jennifer's wedding. That's an exception. It is geographically impossible to pinpoint all these characters in a huge city unless they get really specific. (Kate Campbell)
Why
is it that when Gina turned up, everyone immediately thought that she
