Paul Keenan |
(Tod Chandler)
Paul was the first soap actor to acknowledge that he was HIV+
publicly. He died of AIDS on Dec. 11, 1986. He was 30. Paul had a
recurring role on Dynasty, but left Hollywood when he found out he
was ill to be near his family in Boston.
|
Robert Kelker-Kelly |
(Bo Brady 1992-95)
Robert played Bobby Reno on AW in 1997 and 98. However, he made the
following announcement in early 98, "'After 11 years of working in
soaps, I have decided to leave the business,' says the actor. 'AW
& P&G have honored my request to be let out of my contract .
My wife Miriam and I are looking forward to taking our lives in a new
direction.'" He appears as Trent in "Dream For An Insomniac," a
feature film distributed by Columbia Tri-Star Home Video. It also
stars Jennifer Aniston. Robert and former on-screen papa John Aniston
(Victor) shared the stage in Parental Discretion, in the
spring of 99 at the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood, California.
Just as he did on Days, Aniston portrayed Kelker-Kelly's father.
Kelker-Kelly's character, Dan, is gay, and Aniston's character, Jack,
plans to move in with Dan and Dan's lover. Three's Company star
Richard Kline directed the play. Since he left Days, he was on an
episode of Touched by an Angel, playing Matt Duncan (10/7/95). He was
also in an episode of "Maybe This Time" on ABC . He played a possible
love interest for Marie Osmonds character (late 1995-early
1996). He starred in a play called Fifth of July. It was one night
after his performance in this show that a banner descended from the
stage with the words, "Miriam will you marry me?" written on it. That
of course, refers to his former Days co-star, Miriam Parrish, Jamie,
to whom he is now engaged. They exchanged vows on June 28 at The
Manhattan Penthouse in New York City. Parrish wore a simple
white-silk high-waisted gown, while the nervous, handsome groom
donned a black tuxedo and shaved his trademark mustache. The next day
the newlyweds boarded a plane to Europe for a two week honeymoon.
Kelker-Kelly and Parrish have said they planned to travel around
England, Ireland and Scotland tracing their ancestry. Apparently
Robert popped up at the AMC studios in early 2000 auditioning for the
part of Jake (being played by Michael Lowry). A number of other
actors are also being considered. In 2001, he appeared for a few
months as the long-frozen Cassadine son, Stavros, on General
Hospital.

Thyme Lewis |
(Jonah Carver)
Thyme left Days in 1996, hoping to try other things, after being on
Days for 4 years. It was his decision to leave the show. He was
released early from his contract. Thyme now appears on Sunset Beach
in the role of P.I. Pete. He began the role on November 23, 1998. The
role is recurring. He's recently completed three feature films: Dead
On Target with Daniel Baldwin, Twelve Bucks, an independent that's
making the rounds at film festivals, and Nowhere, now in video
stores. Nowhere was shown at the Sundance Film Festival. His
character, Elvis, is a deliciously nasty guy. His head was almost
completely shaved and he had tattoos all over his body for the role.
Thyme has also started going out for pilots. In July 1997, he was a
guest announcer on the MTV show Singled Out. He made a TV pilot in
late 97, Trials of Life. It also starred Lynne Moody and Stephanie
Williams. Thyme played one of the male leads, Melvin Grantos, a
police officer whose school teacher wife gets shot and falls into a
coma. These days, Lewis is marketing Vitazings, a vitamin product he
discovered overseas. When the product went on the market, Lewis saw a
golden opportunity. He established his own company, Vitanectar, and
recruited fellow enthusiast Christie Clark (Carrie) as his
spokeswoman. Lewis claims he operates a lab far from L.A. where he's
formulating health- related products, though he prefers to keep its
location "a big secreto." Lewis, however, will give out the number to
order Vitazings: (310) 233-1221. But Vitazings is only one of many
non-acting interests. "I've lost several friends over the years," he
laments. "A lot of things I do are in memory of their spirit. I hope
that we can cure AIDS, diabetes, cancer, muscular dystrophy and
retardation - all the charities I'm involved with." Thyme continues
to do lots of charity work. In 1999 he participated in over 30
charity events, including fundraisers for abused children, Cancer,
AIDS, and The United Negro College Fund. Thyme was guest announcer of
the top prizes at the Captain Cooper Carnival at his old grade
school. Lewis recently spent time in the Windward Islands in the West
Indies taping a TV pilot, Island Hopping, a travel/adventure show
that takes viewers to exotic resorts and scuba locales throughout the
world. Lewis (the host) says the gig suits his adventurous nature.
Thyme has a role in the BET TV Movie, Hidden Blessings. He had a film
in Cannes in 1996 called Street Beat. In July 2000, he appeared in
St. Louis in the Joe Torry "Giving Back the Love" Foundation
Celebrity Basketball Challenge. He is also a member of the Hollywood
Knights Charity basketball team.
