Phillip Kiriakis and Shawn Brady made a video game bet at .COM. The loser would have to take the outcast of the school, Chloe Lane, to the biggest dance of the year, The Last Blast. After many games were played, Shawn turned out to be the winner. Phillip was very upset that he, the most popular guy in school, would have to take Chloe to the dance. He tried numerous times to get out of the bet, but nothing worked. Shawn reminded him that a bet was a bet
After being pushed by Jan and Jason, Shawn decided to ask Belle Black to the dance. Mimi is not thrilled by this since she wanted to go with Shawn. But that isn't the only trouble Mimi is dealing with. She continues to act strange. Belle and Chloe are worried about her. Chloe claims she sees Mimi buying what seemed to be drugs (from a thug played by future GH hunk Chad Brannon). Mimi denies this. Mimi starts to look worse and worse every day but no one can get her to tell them what's going on.
As the day of the dance approaches, Phillip asks Chloe to go with him in front of a group of people, since that was part of the bet. She is shocked that Phillip would ask her and she is a little suspicious, but is still very interested in attending. Meanwhile, Jan & Jason plot to do something to Chloe at the dance. Jan vows to get Chloe embarrassed for life.
As the day of the dance begins, Nancy, Chloe's mom, begs Chloe to let her go shopping with her for a dress. Chloe is reluctant but finally gives in. At the mall they run into Phillip, Jan, Jason, and Shawn. Nancy approaches them and threatens them that if they do anything to hurt Chloe she will get them back. After hours of shopping and trying on dresses, Chloe finally finds one she likes. The dance is getting closer and Mimi doesn't even have a dress. She pleads with Belle to let her stay home. But Belle insists. Belle even offers to let her be Shawn's date. They agreed to all go together as a group. Later Mimi shows up at Belle's house full of dirt saying that she was helping her mom in the garden. She asks if she can take a shower there and Belle says yes, but Belle doesn't buy her garden act for a second.
Chloe is getting ready for the dance and Phillip shows up to pick her up. She comes down in a black cloak and Nancy, Craig, & Phillip are disappointed. On the limo ride to the dance they have a serious discussion about why Chloe is the way she is. Then they arrive at the dance.
On the way in they are both reluctant to enter. They do and everyone laughs at Chloe chanting "ghoul girl ghoul girl". Chloe then asks Phillip, "Aren't you going to help me take off my coat"? He does and it reveals a Chloe Lane no one has ever seen before. In a striking red dress, she flaunts what she's got and waves her hair. Everyone claps and is amazed by the sight, but Jan is furious and as jealous as can be.

As the evening continues Shawn and Belle share a special
dance together. It was the first time the two seemed to show
feelings for one another. |

Chloe & Phillip have their dance and look into each
other eyes like never before. Now it is time to announce to
the king & queen of the Last Blast dance. The winners
are Chloe Lane & Phillip Kiriakis. |

They walk to the stage as Shawn sees Jason holding onto a
rope. Shawn sees what's about to happen and dives on the
stage pulling Chloe out of the way as a bucket of blood
dumps down all over Phillip. Everyone laughs and Phillip
cannot believe it. He rushes out of the room and Chloe is
shocked that the blood was meant for her. |
Meanwhile Jan & Mimi are talking by the punch bowl when Jan makes fun of Mimi's new lifestyle and Mimi replies "You Bitch!" and slaps her. Cat fight! Everyone edges them on but teachers soon break it up. Mimi runs out and Belle, Shawn, & Chloe follow. They overhear Mimi talking to a guy offering her drugs. She doesn't accept and takes off. The others follow her and find her stopped at a box in an alley. Her mom and brother are there and now it all makes sense to Belle. Mimi is homeless. Her little brother is sick and Mimi is very worried. Belle then comes forth and tells Mimi that she knows now. Mimi is very upset but worried about her brother also. They take him to the hospital and he is fine. Mimi and her family now are living in doors again thanks to Alice Horton and her generosity.
A few days later Belle sets up a surprise date for Chloe and Phillip. Now is where the love begins between them. They all decide to help Mimi build a house with Habitat for Humanity. Everyone wants to help Mimi and her family but Mimi still cannot accept it. Soon they all will find a can that will change their lives forever. No one will be the same again...
