People are constantly asking me for a family tree that includes all of the families in Salem. However, due to space considerations and the complexity of the thing, it's been impossible for me to create one. Here, I've done the next best thing and outlined all of the connections between the major families on the show, through marriages, affairs, children, etc. If you see that I'm missing some, please email me.
Shawn Douglas, Zack and Will all provide links between these two families. Shawn D and Zack are the grandchildren of Caroline Brady (and Shawn's step-grandchild) and the great-grandchildren of Tom and Alice Horton, because their parents are Bo Brady and Hope Williams. Will is the great-grandchild of Shawn and Caroline Brady and the great-grandchild of Tom and Alice Horton, because his parents are Lucas Roberts (Bill Horton's son) and Sami Brady (Roman Brady's daughter).
In addition, several Bradys and Hortons have dated through the years, including Kayla and Mike, Carrie and Mike, Sami and Lucas, and Carrie and Lucas.
Bo and Billie are the focus of the first link. (Of course some of the marriages that once linked them are no longer, so this shows their connections at one time.) Bo is the son of Caroline Brady and Victor Kiriakis, making him a member of both families. Billie, his ex-wife, is a Reed. Billie's mother, Kate, is was married to Victor Kiriakis. That means that Billie's father-in-law, Victor, was also her step-father. Billie's mother-in-law is Caroline Brady, who also happens to be the grandmother-in-law of her brother, Austin, since Austin is married to Carrie Brady, a Brady grandchild. That's a second link. Yet another connection between the Bradys and the Roberts is Will. He is Kate Roberts Kiriakis' grandchild and Shawn and Caroline Brady's great-grandchild. Another way to view these many connections is their relation to Phillip Kiriakis. His half-siblings are Austin, Billie, Lucas and Bo (and the deceased Isabella). His half-sister, Billie, married his half-brother, Bo. His half-brother, Austin, married his other half-brother, Bo's niece, Carrie Brady. Another half-brother, Lucas, has a child with Bo's other niece, Sami Brady. Phillip has half-siblings in the Brady family, Kiriakis family, and the Reed family. He is also Shawn Douglas' and Brady's uncle. We gained another direct connection between these families in Bo and Billie's deceased daughter, Georgia.
Brady Black is the connection here. He is the grandchild of Leopold Alamain and the grandchild of Victor Kiriakis, since his parents are John Black (Forrest Alamain) and Isabella Toscano (Victor's daughter). Another near-connection here is Philip Kiriakis. While the blood child of Kate and Victor Kiriaks, he was carried by Vivian Alamain, making him a partial member of that family as well. Phillip and Isabella would have been half-siblings, which means Brady's uncle is Phillip. So the Kiriakises are connected to the Alamains this way.
Alamains and Bradys, Alamains and Hortons
Shawn Douglas helps connect the Alamains to both the Bradys and the Hortons.
Bo and Isabella are (half) brother and sister. Shawn-D and Brady are (half) cousins and Belle is a (quarter) cousin.
John was married to Isabella. Bo and John are brothers-in-law. Bo is Brady's (half) uncle and Belle's (quarter) uncle. John is Shawn-D's (half) uncle.
Shawn-D is half-Horton. He connects John, Brady, and Belle (and Marlena, through Belle) to the Horton family.
Belle is Eric and Sami's (half) sister and (quarter) sister to Carrie. Belle is half-related to everyone Eric and Sami are related to -- Shawn and Caroline, Kim, Roman, Bo, Shawn-D, etc. And since Belle and Brady are half-siblings, then he is (quarter) related to everyone else in the Brady family.
John is related to the Bradys through his children and Shawn-D.
Vivian also has connection to the Brady family through Brady and Belle (great-aunt).
Alamains
and DiMeras
In 2003 it was revealed that John Black was Tony DiMera's half brother. John and Tony share a mother, Daphne DiMera. Daphne was Philomena Alamain's sister. Daphne gave her son to Philomena and Leopold Alamain to raise, and they subsequently adopted him. John is the son of Daphne by birth, and consequently he would be Stefano's step child by birth. However, he is an Alamain through adoption.
Reed/Roberts and Hortons
Lucas is the connection here. He is both a Roberts (through mom Kate) and a Horton (through dad Bill). That means Will is part Horton, part Reed/Roberts, part Brady and part Evans, thus connecting all of those families.
Kiriakis and Johnson, Kiriakis and Brady
These two families are connected by Jackson Kiriakis, the son of Adrienne and Justin Kiriakis. Jackson is Jack's nephew so he's Abby's (who is a Horton) cousin. Also Jackson is Steve's nephew so Stephanie's (who is a Brady) cousin.
Family Connection Questions
Are Shawn and Belle related?
They were raised as if they were related. All of Belle's siblings are related to Shawn by blood. Including Carrie, who while not a blood sibling of Belle's, is considered her her sister nonetheless. Shawn is Bo and Hope's son. Bo is a Kiriakis and Brady by blood and Hope is a Horton and a Williams. Belle is John and Marlena's daughter and is an Alamain and an Evans. However, when Belle was born, it was believed she was Roman's. She even had his last name for the first 6 years of her life. This made her Shawn's cousin by blood, as they both shared the same grandmother, Caroline Brady. However, we later learned she was John's daughter. John spent 5 years of his life as a Brady. He was believed to be Roman Brady. When Roman came back, they discovered he wasn't Roman, but Shawn and Caroline still considered him another one of their "children." When Brady and Belle were young (until their 1999 and 2000 recasts), they referred to Shawn and Caroline as Grandma and Grandpa Brady, just as they are Shawn's true grandparents. Bo, Hope, and Kim were all aunts and uncles to them, just as they were Shawn's true aunts and uncles. Even after Belle was aged, she referred to Aunt Hope and Uncle Bo. This is seen clearly when looking at their scenes with their honorary Brady relatives. So, the bottom line is, no, there is no blood relation, but these two teens were raised as cousins.
