Peter Blake

Peter BlakePeter Blake is the son of Rachel Blake. His only living blood relative is Kristen Blake, his sister. As children, Peter and Kristen were adopted by Stefano DiMera after their parents died in a fiery car accident. While Kristen was kept in the dark about the DiMera family and its business, Peter was raised by Stefano to protect them. He eventually became one of the lawyers for DiMera Enterprises, and joined Stefano in his twisted plots against John Black. Peter would try to get away from Stefano's influence, unsuccessfully, for the love of Jennifer Horton. In the end, his DiMera upbringing would shine through, as he resorted to devilish ways to desperately hang on to Jennifer.

Peter arrived in Salem in September of 1993 to keep his sister, Kristen Blake, away from John Black. He was the mysterious person who had been calling her for months now, telling her to stay away from John. Not only was Peter her brother, but he was Stefano DiMera's adoptive son and an attorney for DiMera Enterprises. Shortly after Stefano arrived in Salem in 1993, it was revealed that they had been adopted by him as children after their parents, friends of Stefano's, had perished in an explosive car accident. Stefano had adopted them as a last favor to their parents. However, it soon became evident that Stefano had not adopted them out of charity, but out guilt.

Peter's sole duty in Salem was to keep Kristen away from John. But he also devoted a lot of his ailing father. Stefano was in the hospital suffering of his everlasting brain tumor, and recovering from a recent stroke. While helping his father regain his strength, John Black got his attention. One day, John came to Stefano's room demanding that his past be revealed. While yelling at Stefano, John noticed a carbon sketch of a woman. This sketch affected John in a peculiar way, as it put him in a trance. After John left, Peter questioned Stefano about the curious drawing. Stefano dodged Peter's questions, telling him only that the sketch held the key to unlocking John's memory, something that should be avoided at all cost. The "Captured Queen," as Stefano secretly called the woman in the sketch, not only held John's past, but could also sever the relationship between Stefano and his adoptive children. Although Stefano ordered Peter to taunt John with the sketch, it was eventually burned.

Meanwhile, Peter strove to keep Kristen away from John. He warned her that her fiancé would soon arrive. Indeed, Tony DiMera set foot in Salem once again in October of that year. Peter's only order from Stefano was to ensure the marriage of Tony and Kristen; it was his dying wish. Peter obediently followed Stefano's commands, while keeping watch over him regularly. Stefano was expected to die soon. Peter hoped to run DiMera Enterprises after his death, and continue to involve the company in illegal business. However, Tony wanted to legitimize the family business. Stefano put an end to their mild rivalry by announcing that Tony would run the company after his death, much to Peter's chagrin. Nevertheless, Peter continued to obey his father.

Peter and Jennifer collideFor nearly three months, Peter had been Stefano's errand boy. One fateful December day, Peter would finally get a life of his own. Following a visit with Stefano at the hospital, a careless woman bumped into him in the hallway and spilled coffee all over him. This woman was none other than Jennifer Deveraux. Initially upset with Jennifer, they bickered about whose fault it was that they'd collided (it was really both their faults.) But after calming down, Peter became interested in her. Over the next month, Peter would continuously flirt with Jennifer, who was still very married to her estranged husband, Jack. In fact, Peter showed Jennifer an entire different side of him. He helped her do Christmas shopping; when Austin was unable to come on the show one day, Peter volunteered to co-host the show with her; he also flew Laura Horton, Jennifer's catatonic mother, in from her Chicago hospital for New Year's.

Peter and Jennifer at Green MountainDespite these generous gestures, Jennifer spurned his advances. In a last ditch effort, Peter invited Jennifer to a ski weekend at the Green Mountain Ski Lodge in February of 1994. Jennifer said she'd think about it. After nervously waiting for hours, Peter thought she wouldn't show up. At the last minute, Jennifer appeared at the lodge. She had just received divorce papers from Jack and was finally ready to move on. Although Jennifer left the lodge that night to go to Chicago (her mother's sanitarium was on fire), Peter did manage to plant a slobbery kiss on her while eating dinner.

It's also interesting to mention that during Christmastime, when Doug and Julie Williams briefly returned to Salem, it was revealed that Julie knew Peter quite well. They'd met in Monte Carlo many years ago, where he had represented some friends of hers.

Meanwhile, Stefano was out of danger. His tumor once again disappeared, and he had completely recovered from the stroke. All the DiMeras were now living in the old Donovan mansion. Peter's only orders were to keep taunting John. Now that the sketch of the Captured Queen had been burned, Peter and Stefano taunted John with piano music. Chopin's Nocturne in E Flat, Opus 9 affected John in the same manner as the sketch. While this was going on, Tony and Kristen were finally ready to marry, after having postponed their wedding. The day of their wedding, Peter aided Stefano in faking his death. Stefano's car had been rigged to explode. While Stefano hid, Peter pressured Kristen to go ahead with the wedding. No body was found, of course. In reality, Peter had had a secret room built behind a wall in the foyer of the DiMera mansion in which Stefano hid. This room was only accessible by typing a numeric code on a secret keypad. While Peter was the only one who knew of this room and of Stefano's faked death, Tony soon discovered their ruse and ordered Stefano to leave Salem.

In the meantime, Peter insisted on conquering Jennifer. They grew closer, as he did "small" favors for her, like pulling strings at the Chicago Hall of Records so that she could access marriage certificates (she was searching for proof that Kate Kiriakis was Austin and Billie Reed's mother.) While they did become close, she pulled away from Peter after her father arrived in town. Bill Horton, as well as the rest of the Hortons, convinced Jennifer that dating a DiMera was not a wise thing to do.

Peter carried out Stefano's orders while he was away at a location called Maison Blanche. First, all he did was mess with John's head by leaving the Chopin music recorded on his answering machine. But when evidence in the Curtis Brown murder investigation began to point toward Stefano, Peter took action. He paid a visit to Fred Harris, the police officer on Stefano's payroll who had guarded Stefano's hospital room the night Curtis Brown was murdered. He took Fred to an abandoned warehouse and informed him that he would soon be joining Stefano at his secret location, Maison Blanche. Before Peter could send Fred to Maison Blanche, Fred was captured by Bo Brady and John Black. The next day, Stefano was revealed to be Curtis' assassin, something Peter and Stefano had been trying to cover up since October. Fred Harris, who had been the key witness at the trial and who was in jail awaiting a trial, mysteriously died soon after. He was found hanged in his cell by Tony, Kristen, and John. Peter did not seem shocked when he found out the news, and neither did Stefano. But whether or not Fred's death was murder remains a mystery.

While that mess was quickly swept under the rug, Peter occupied himself with a new hobby: dealing drugs. In April, we discovered that Peter owned a very hip nightclub in Salem called The Warehouse. In addition to good music with a bad atmosphere, The Warehouse also specialized in dealing cocaine. It was also at this club that Peter was able to woo Jennifer back. He made sure she saw him with another woman, Rain. Peter and Jennifer began dating once again, though she was still cautious of him. Less than a month later, they would both be invited to a charity cotillion, organized by Kristen, at...Maison Blanche.

Peter and Jennifer give in to their feelings at Maison BlanchePeter and Tony were shocked when Kristen announced that she would hold her cotillion at Maison Blanche, knowing full well that Stefano was there. However, Stefano told them to go along with Kristen; he'd stay hidden. Before leaving for New Orleans, Peter left Leo in charge of his nightclub. Roman Brady had been snooping around, so he told Leo to be careful. At Maison Blanche, Peter and Tony made sure that Stefano would be out of sight and nervously escorted Kristen and Jennifer outside, where the grand party awaited. Some time later, it began to rain very hard. While the guests huddled in one of the houses on the estate, Peter and Jennifer found their way to a different place and made love, oblivious to the fact that hell was breaking loose. For one thing, Roman was on the grounds with a search warrant and wanting to question Peter about his drug-dealing. And for another thing, Maison Blanche was burning to the ground, John & Marlena were found to have been prisoner in the house, Stefano's scheme was unmasked, and the rain turned into a hurricane. When Peter and Jennifer finally emerged from their love nest, Roman viciously questioned Peter about Leo, the drugs, his nightclub, etc. This shocked everyone, but Peter claimed that it was all a lie and everyone stood by him.

The next day, Peter was brought into the New Orleans police department and questioned once again. Roman believed that Peter had helped Stefano fake his death. But when Celeste, the pyromaniacal caretaker of Maison Blanche, was arrested and questioned, she said she was the only one who had known that Stefano was alive. Needless to say, Peter could now breathe a lot easier. Roman had no evidence regarding the drug-dealing, so Peter was let go. Peter continued to run the nightclub, but left the drug dealing to Leo. Once back in Salem, Peter professed his love for Jennifer. Their relationship turned more intimate. But Alice's disapproval of Peter remained a constant obstacle.

One particular night, there was a dinner party that Peter and Jennifer were attending. After sneaking off to make love, Peter received a call from Leo asking him to meet him at the pier. Peter obliged and met with Leo regarding their business. Laura saw Peter with that shady character and began to think twice about letting Jennifer date Peter. The friction between Laura and Peter escalated as time went by; she blatantly accused Peter of being a criminal...and this didn't sit too well with Peter. Meanwhile, Peter unsuccessfully tried to get hold of a laptop computer that Tony had found inside of Maison Blanche and given to John in hopes that it contained info on his past.

The last straw for Peter was when Laura and Alice arranged for Jack to return to Salem. While Peter and Jennifer made love in a mountain cabin, Jack saw them and left. Still, Peter and Jennifer were very upset, of course. Jennifer saw Laura as a potential threat to his relationship with Jennifer and decided to take action. He hired a man named Daniel Scott to catch the interest of Laura. His ultimate plan was to put Laura back in a mental institution. When Peter was "introduced" to Daniel at Jennifer's house, they pretended to have been business partners many years ago.

Just as Laura was reinstated into the hospital staff, Peter had her office painted (Daniel took credit for it.) The paint used contained a toxic substance that would cause delusions to anyone who was exposed to it for prolonged periods of time. In addition, Peter placed a radio transmitter inside a small bust of "The Oracle" and had Daniel give it to Laura as a gift. While Laura was in her office, Peter would threaten the lives of Mike and Jennifer while speaking into the radio transmitter. Poor Laura thought she was hearing things at first. As she became more delusional, she panicked and began acting rather crazy. Unfortunately for Peter, the effect of the toxic fumes wore off as soon as Laura left the office. He needed a way to keep her delusional all the time. So he had Daniel give Laura a pearl necklace -- it was coated with the toxic substance. Laura loved the necklace and began wearing it every day. Laura soon began pulling fire alarms for no reason and warning Jennifer & Mike that Peter was going to kill them. At Mike's 30th birthday party at the Horton home, Laura finally snapped like a twig. Peter spoke into his phone and said that he had placed a bomb inside his present to Mike, making sure that only Laura heard him. When present-opening time came, Laura tearfully begged Mike not to open THE BOMB. She denounced Peter as a criminal and warned everyone of Peter's plan to kill them all. As Mike was ready to open his gift, having shrugged the warning off, Laura grabbed the box and threw it into the ice bucket. She'd heard a ticking sound coming from the box. Peter, acting insulted, opened the box and showed everyone the nice clock he'd bought for Mike. This certainly planted doubt about Laura's stability in the minds of everyone present.

Things began to go bad for Peter when Daniel started falling in love with Laura. He felt bad for trying to drive her insane. Peter got rid of his doubts by threatening his life. Finally, one evening, Daniel called Peter from his room at the Salem Inn. He said that Laura had come saying that her family was against her and passed out. Peter saw this as a window of opportunity. He rushed there and placed Laura on the ledge of the rooftop. Someone saw Laura there and soon all of the Hortons were on the rooftop trying to keep Laura from committing what they thought was suicide. Laura, who was quite out of it, stood on the ledge tittering back and forth. When she almost fell, Peter caught her. In the process, Laura's pearl necklace broke and the pearls fell to the street. After this incident, Mike and Jennifer decided to send Laura to Brooktree Sanitarium. Peter had won...at least this round.

Unfortunately, Laura escaped University Hospital on the day she was to be transferred to Brooktree. Laura went missing for quite some time, and Peter was desperate to find her. He searched the Alamain mansion along with the police, unable to find Laura (she was hiding in the suit of armor.) A few days later, Jennifer was also admitted into the hospital after suffering delusions in Laura's office. That evening, someone spotted Laura and Jennifer on the rooftop on the hospital. Again, all the Hortons plus Peter gathered to save Jennifer & Laura, who'd managed to fall on scaffolding precariously hanging off the side of the hospital. Peter saved them both by lowering himself using a fire hose. This act of heroism finally put Laura's protests to rest and she accepted Peter.

Meanwhile, Mike deduced that it had been something inside of Laura's office that had caused her delusions...perhaps the paint fumes. Before Mike could test the paint in the office, Peter had it re-painted, neutralizing the effects of the toxic substance and erasing any trace of it. Mike was pretty upset about this and had his suspicions about Peter, but he soon forgot about them. Now that the plot to drive Laura insane was over, Peter ordered Daniel to leave town. Once again, Daniel claimed that he loved Laura and couldn't do that. And once again, Peter threatened to kill him. So, Daniel packed his bags and left Salem.

During this time, Peter and Jennifer were blissfully happy and had no idea that Jack was only a few miles away at the same Retreat Center as Laura, The Meadows. In January of 1995, Jennifer told Peter that Jack had contacted her twice about wanting to reunite, and so Peter began to hate Jack even though they'd never met. Peter and Jennifer decided to go to Green Mountain for a weekend getaway. While alone at the bar, Peter began chatting with some stranger and they quickly became pals. When Jennifer arrived, she began screaming at the stranger. It was Jack. Peter made it clear to Jack that Jennifer didn't love him anymore and told him to stay away. Aside from that incident, Peter and Jennifer had a rather jolly good time there. It would be their last romantic getaway in a long, long time.

With Jack looming in the background, Peter was more determined than ever to cut off ties with Stefano. He didn't want to lose Jennifer by being involved with him. However, Peter threatened Jack in order to keep him out of Jennifer's life, but Peter's threats only fed Jack's obsession. Soon after, Jack legally found a way to move into Jennifer's house. When Jennifer refused to leave her house just to avoid Jack, Peter accused her of still loving him. Jennifer denied this and Peter & Jennifer decided to just put up with Jack's antics. Meanwhile, Stefano began to manipulate Peter, first order of business being releasing Celeste from police custody (Celeste had been arrested for helping Stefano escape from the police.) Peter decided to oblige. Of course, Jennifer questioned his motives. Peter simply talked his way of it saying Celeste was a loyal family friend.

Peter threatens DanielThat little Celeste mess, however, convinced Peter that any association with any criminals would ruin his relationship with Jen. And Jack, who had been following him, didn't make things any easier. Jack constantly accused Peter of helping Stefano in front of Jennifer to break them up. So Peter chose to go one step further in his crusade to change for the better: he sold The Warehouse, which was still up-and-running and still dealing cocaine. He sold it to Mickey Horton (who knows what he did with it!) But just as Peter thought he was in the clear, more trouble washed into town: Daniel Scott. Daniel, who had run of money, had chosen to come back to blackmail Peter. For some time, Peter put up with Daniel's blackmail. One night, however, he got fed up when he discovered that Daniel was going to tell Jack what he and Peter had done to Laura. Peter managed to kidnap Daniel before he could talk to Jack and tied him up in a room at The Warehouse. Unfortunately, Daniel escaped and went straight Jennifer's house. Just as he was going to go inside, Peter shot him, then hid him away. Upon entering Jen's house, Peter claimed that someone had tried to mug him, but Jack claimed that Peter had shot Daniel to protect himself. Was Daniel dead? To prove otherwise to Jack, Jennifer, and Laura, Peter made a phone call. A week later, Laura received a letter in Daniel's handwriting saying that he'd had to unexpectedly move to Florida. With Daniel out of the picture, and Jack's attempts to expose Peter resulting in failure, Jennifer regained trust in Peter and the two became engaged.

Jack constantly tried to prove that Peter was a crook, but he always failed. Soon, Peter began wedding preparations. He and Jennifer agreed to hold the wedding in the town of Aremid, where Peter and Kristen had spent much of their childhoods. Months before the wedding, Peter and Jennifer traveled to the town. It was not the way Peter remembered it: it was dark, dreary, and depressing. People talked about how one day the trains stopped coming...they also talked about the "Lady in White." However, the Blake house remained beautiful, though Jennifer almost died of smoke inhalation when someone set a small fire. While exploring the house, they found an oil painting of a woman wearing an exquisite white gown. Jennifer wanted this gown to be her wedding dress, and so Peter took the painting to the inn and asked them to put it in the vault. The next morning, they found the painting slashed; they also found Jack staying in the same inn. Peter accused Jack of destroying the painting and ordered him to leave Aremid. Soon after, Peter and Jennifer returned to Salem.

The trip to Aremid had left Peter a bit shaken up. He'd been having odd flashbacks from his childhood. One evening, Peter and Jennifer went to the Penthouse Grill. Jack was there as well, and he and Peter got into a heated argument on the balcony, which resulted in Peter falling over the railing. He was sent to the hospital, where he remained in a coma. While he was unconscious, Peter recalled knowing the Lady in White in his childhood, and remembered her humming the melody "Green Sleeves." Peter eventually emerged from his coma, but kept his odd flashbacks a secret and proceeded with the wedding preparations.

Peter Meets JudeMeanwhile, Peter had a secret he feared that Jack, Bo, and Hope Brady would discover. He was the secret owner of the Blue Moon, a jazz nightclub which dealt drugs and held private striptease parties after hours. Peter knew that Bo and Hope were investigating the club, and that Jack would come snooping sooner or later, so he decided to get rid of it. He had Jude St. Clair, the manager of the Blue Moon, come to Aremid. There, Peter offered him ownership of the Blue Moon in exchange for some information on Jack. He had Jude do a check on Jack from the time he had left until his return to Salem. Peter hoped to find some shady information on Jack with which to distract him from ruining his wedding to Jennifer. After some time, Jude reported back to Peter with the news that Jack and Laura had slept together shortly before coming back to Salem. The night before the wedding, Peter accidentally found Jack and Laura kissing in her room at the inn. Knowing this, Peter had Jennifer go into Laura's room and find Jack and Laura together. Jennifer was furious with Jack and was more adamant than ever to go through with the wedding. With his impending marriage secure, Peter happily gave Jude the deed to the Blue Moon that night, at the arbor, where his wedding would take place. They were unaware that the Lady in White was observing them. Some time later, Peter returned to the arbor to find it on fire, and Jack unconscious amidst the flames. Peter pulled Jack out of the fire, but promptly had him arrested for arson believing this to have been an attempt to stop the wedding. However, Jack claimed to have been looking at a document with Peter's name on it when someone came up behind him and knocked him unconscious. Knowing that Jack had somehow seen the deed to the Blue Moon, Peter began to sweat. But despite Jack's accusations, Jennifer continued with her plans to marry Peter.

Peter and Jennifer wedSince the arbor had burned to the ground, Peter and Jennifer held the wedding at the Blake house. It was almost stopped by Jack, who had gotten out of his jail cell, but Jennifer's rejection of him discouraged him from making a scene. The ceremony went off without a hitch. Early in the reception, Peter and Jennifer snuck away to a cabin secluded on the grounds. They would remain there until the next day, oblivious to the mess that was transpiring elsewhere on the estate. When they returned to the main house, they were shocked to find that Tony had been shot during the reception the previous day. When Tony awakened, he claimed that John had shot him. Wanting to protect his brother's interests and vowing revenge on John, Peter flew in a court stenographer from Salem to officially record Tony's accusation. That night, Tony died.

Peter immediately began a crusade to get John convicted of murder. As the crime scene was investigated, a great deal of evidence began to point straight to John. However, Hope, who had disappeared for a brief amount of time, alerted everyone to the fact that she had just been kidnapped and held hostage by Jude St. Clair. Jude's presence on the property hurt Peter's case against John because it presented police with another viable suspect. Worried that his connection to Jude would be revealed, Peter located Jude, gave him money, and told him to get as far away from Aremid & Salem as possible. Although Jude seemed to have taken his warning seriously, Peter still wasn't in the clear. Soon after, he discovered that Jack and Jennifer were investigating The Blue Moon to find out once and for all who the club's owner was, and thus find out who Jude had been meeting in Aremid (Jennifer firmly believed that Tony was the club's owner, but Jack was convinced it was Peter.) Before Jennifer could look through The Blue Moon's papers, Peter had the club's replacement manager, Deke, call a dirty cop named Charlie to raid the club and confiscate all documents. The raid went off without a hitch; unfortunately, not all the cops involved with the raid were on Peter's payroll, so all evidence confiscated during the raid remained on police hands. Just as Jack and Jennifer received a court order to look through those documents, Peter had a judge on his payroll seal them until after Christmas. Peter then called Deke and told him to somehow destroy those documents before the holidays were over.

Jude blackmails PeterAs Peter and Jennifer returned to Aremid to continue their honeymoon, he was contacted by Jude. When he was met by Jude in the woods, Jude told him that he was going to blackmail him. He threatened to go to the police and tell them about all of Peter's shady dealings; he also threatened to reveal Peter's involvement in the revelation of Laura and Jack's affair. Not seeing another alternative, Peter gave Jude $40 and a matchbook with the access code to a Cayman Islands bank account written on it and told him to take money out of that account after he got away from Salem. When Peter returned to the house, he found Jennifer exhausted. She told him that she'd just finished escaping from Jude, who had kidnapped her and held her hostage! Peter vowed revenge on Jude. Meanwhile, Deke managed to destroy the deed to The Blue Moon and all documents connecting Peter to the club.

As far as John was concerned, Peter made all efforts to have him convicted despite Kristen's protests, eventually asking for the death penalty. Before long, Peter succeeded in proving John guilty of murdering Tony, especially after he discovered a tape made by Tony before his death in which Tony confessed he was frightened by John. John would soon be put to death in the gas chamber. Meanwhile, Jack and Jennifer were close to finding out the truth. Jack had found the matchbook with the bank account number and was hell-bent on finding out who was providing Jude with money. So Jack and Jennifer went to the bank in the Cayman Islands to see whose name the account was under. Right before Jack and Jennifer saw the account holder's name, Peter hired a computer hacker to erase his name from the account. Still, Peter needed to get rid of Jude once and for all. Once they were all back in Aremid, Peter saw Jack holding a gun to Jude. A fight then ensued between the two, which would end if Jude told Jack who he was working for. Afraid that Jude might tell him everything, Peter shot Jude from afar and killed him.

Naturally, Jack accused Peter of shooting Jude to keep him from revealing their connection. And really, Jack wasn't too far from the truth. Peter had fired that gun knowing that he would benefit regardless of who got killed. If Jude died, his connection to him would remain secret; if Jack died, his rival for Jennifer would be gone. Despite Jude's death, Peter's connection to him did surface when the Lady in White, now treated by Laura, began to think coherently. After lying a couple of times, she finally admitted to having seen Peter with Jude the night of arbor fire. Peter confessed that he had known Jude, but continued to claim that he hadn't had any business with him. Again, Jennifer believed him. Meanwhile, the Lady in White was discovered to be Rachel Blake, Peter and Kristen's mother. This explained why the Lady had tried to lie about Peter's connection to Jude. Peter would have very little to do with Rachel after this, and she eventually died in an explosion. During this time, Peter got so sick of Jack that he began building a house in Salem -- a duplicate of his childhood home in Aremid.

To get away from Jack, Peter decided to take Jennifer and Abby to Paris, where apparently the rest of Salem had also gone to look for Marlena Evans. While in Paris, Peter encountered Daniel Scott once again. Daniel had gambled away all of the money Peter had given him the last time and wanted to blackmail Peter again. To make things worse, Jack, who had followed Peter to Paris, also noticed Daniel hanging around and began asking questions. After many threats and close calls, Peter paid off Daniel's gambling debts and managed to keep him quiet. However, when Peter and Jennifer returned to Salem, Daniel followed with the intent of extorting more money from Peter. By this time, Jennifer had finally begun having doubts about Peter. One day, she tricked Daniel into telling her everything about his association with Peter, including how he and Peter had gaslighted Laura to have her committed again. When Jennifer confronted Peter with this, he couldn't come up with any excuses. He claimed that he had only tried to get rid of Laura because she had been causing problems between he and Jennifer. Naturally, Jennifer didn't put up with this pathetic excuse and threw Peter out of the house. Soon after, she filed for divorce.

Peter diesMeanwhile, Peter was contacted by Stefano, who had evaded the police in Paris after kidnapping Marlena. Maintaining a low profile, Stefano attempted to form a bond with Peter once again by trying to help him get Jennifer back. Though Peter initially rejected Stefano's help, he soon began to depend on him again. After nothing worked to get Jennifer back, Stefano suggested that he take drastic measures and kidnap her. With no other alternative, Peter accepted Stefano's plan. He quickly made fake passports for Jennifer and Abby, and procured a sedative with which to drug Jennifer. However, drugging Jennifer proved to be a difficult task because Jack was constantly hovering about her. So Peter waited until late one night when Jennifer would be in bed. After making sure that there was no one around, Peter sneaked into Jennifer's house. But as he started up the stairs, Jack came into the house. Somehow, he had deduced that Peter would kidnap Jennifer. The syringe Peter had in his pocket confirmed this. Suddenly, Jack pulled out a gun a threatened to kill Peter. A struggle in the dark between the two followed, and ended when the gun went off. Peter was shot. Peter spent the next day in the hospital in intensive care. The following evening, he died.

Kristen finds that Peter is aliveOr did he? Well, obviously he didn't. Stefano faked his death by making him appear dead. Afterward, he switched Peter's body with that of Daniel Scott, who had suffered an untimely (or timely, depending on how you look at it) death. Over Daniel's face, Stefano placed a life-like mask of Peter's likeness. Meanwhile, Stefano nursed Peter back to health. Stefano was even kind enough to bring Peter to his own funeral! Unfortunately, Laura saw him there, as well as Daniel's body. As a result, Stefano kidnapped Laura and brought her back to the house that Peter had been building to erase her memory. Peter was still very ill and would eventually be transferred out of the country to continue to recover. Before leaving the country, Stefano brought Kristen to the house to show her that her brother wasn't dead. After saying good-bye to Kristen, a barely conscious Peter was taken away from Salem.

Peter goes to prisonIn November of 1997, Peter resurfaced on one of Stefano's tropical islands. He had been recovering there for the past year and was almost ready to leave in search of Jennifer. Unfortunately, Peter accidentally contracted a peculiar disease called "Jungle Madness." This was a daft illness which caused Peter to suffer from high fevers, hallucinations, and violent outbursts. Not thinking straight, Peter escaped from Stefano's jungle compound looking for a way to get off the island to go to Salem. After wrestling a tiger, Peter managed to leave the island and return to Salem. Imagine his frustration when he found that Jennifer wasn't there! She and Jack were being chased by FBI agents all over the country. Still delirious from his Jungle Madness, Peter somehow tracked Jack and Jennifer down to a circus in Ohio. And yet, he missed them. In the end, Jennifer was killed in a car accident and Peter went completely insane. Needing to have her body, he burst into her funeral service with a machine gun and threatened to kill anyone who got in his way. But just as he came upon her coffin, Jennifer, as an angel, came down from above and talked Peter into dropping the weapon and turning himself in. Imagine his surprise when it turned out that it had all been a trick. Jennifer had faked her death and pretended to be an angel to lure Peter into a trap. After being given the cure for his Jungle Madness, Peter was sentenced to several years in prison.

The character of Peter Blake was played by Jason Brooks from 1993-1996, and again from 1997-1998.
