Johnnie-Jean "J.J." Bagwood

J.J. BagwoodJohnnie-Jean "J.J." Bagwood is the sister of Hank Tobin. She is the biological mother of Victor and Joey Kiriakis, children that she gave up for adoption in order to give them a better life with Justin and Adrienne Kiriakis.

J.J. dresses up as AnjelicaOn May 23, 1989, Justin Kiriakis hired J.J., a professional pediatric nurse, to take care of his son Alexander. Alexander's mother, Anjelica Curtis, insisted on living in the dumpy apartment below Shenanigans, so Justin brought J.J. to live with Anjelica and look after him. Although J.J. was a responsible nurse, Anjelica also used her in her countless schemes to win Justin's affections. Living with Anjelica was pretty much a roller coaster ride for J.J.: In less than a month, they moved from the Shenanigans apartment, to Victor Kiriakis' mansion, to Justin's penthouse, and back to Victor's mansion. Nevertheless, J.J. never complained about Anjelica. In fact, she eventually got so used to her that a little of Anjelica rubbed off on her. When J.J. developed a crush on Victor's bodyguard Nico, Anjelica taught her how to entice him. Unfortunately, J.J. never quite got the hang of it and Nico ignored her advances. It also became evident that J.J. even sort of...admired Anjelica. For Halloween, J.J. dressed up as Anjelica and went around acting like her. It's no wonder that everyone that day asked her why she was dressed as the Wicked Witch of the West!

In November, J.J. was developed a little more as viewers learned that she had a brother, Hank Tobin. Hank happened to be Adrienne Kiriakis' foreman in her new company, Johnson Construction; Anjelica and Justin, who owned Kiriakis/Deveraux Construction, were determined to put Adrienne's company out of business. As soon as Anjelica found out J.J.'s connection to Hank, she begged J.J. to spy on him. However, J.J. refused to do something like that to her brother. Nevertheless, Anjelica began spending a lot of quality time with J.J. and Hank in order to get into their good graces.

J.J. finds out that Hank is deadIn March of 1990, J.J. was horrified to hear that Hank had been in an accident at a Johnson Construction site. Upon arriving at the scene, J.J. was given the news that Hank had died on the way to the hospital. J.J. was destroyed, especially after the police discovered that the accident had been pulled off deliberately using a detonation device. Furthermore, the structure had been poorly-constructed. This was a crushing blow to J.J., who knew that Hank had handled most of the construction of that building. Evidence against Hank began to mount, and J.J. couldn't believe that her brother would've been capable of something like that. Throughout all of this, Anjelica consoled J.J., and even gave her a large sum of money to help her. Little did J.J. know that the accident had been caused by Anjelica, who had paid off Hank to sabotage the building. Not long after this, the truth came out. After Anjelica died in a plane crash, J.J. left Salem.

About five months later, J.J. unexpectedly showed up on Justin and Adrienne's doorstep...pregnant! As it turned out, all those tips that Anjelica had given her hadn't gone to waste. She had had an affair with a married man eight months earlier and was almost due to give birth. Knowing that she would never be able to give her child a good home, J.J. didn't know who else to turn to. Justin and Adrienne invited her to stay in their apartment. But that wasn't enough. J.J. wanted to give the child a good life and asked Justin and Adrienne if they were willing to adopt him or her. Because a child is what the couple had wanted for years, they eagerly said yes! To everyone's surprise, they later discovered during an examination that J.J. was carrying twins! On September 17, 1990, J.J. finally gave birth to twin boys. The children were named Victor, after Justin's uncle, and Joseph (Joey for short), after Adrienne's mother Jo.

J.J. and Stanley give up their twinsShortly after the children's birth, however, Stanley Krakowski arrived at the hospital. He was the children's father. Stanley opposed to giving them up for adoption and convinced J.J. not to go through with it. J.J. began to have second thoughts about giving up the children and begged Justin and Adrienne to let her live with them at the penthouse, if only for a little while. Living with the Kiriakis, J.J. was able to see firsthand how Justin and Adrienne loved the children as if they were their own. After a month at the penthouse, J.J. came to the conclusion that it would be in the children's best interest to be adopted by Justin & Adrienne. Although Stanley still opposed, J.J. reminded him that he couldn't take the children because he was married. Finally, Stanley agreed to the adoption and signed the documents. Justin and Adrienne reminded J.J. that she would always be welcome to see the children. However, J.J. decided to leave Salem.
