Alexander
Kiriakis is the son of Justin Kiriakis and Anjelica Deveraux. He is
the half-brother of Jackson Kiriakis, and the adoptive brother of
Joey and Victor Kiriakis. Born on February 24, 1989, Alexander Neil
Curtis was named after the father of Justin Kiriakis, who helped
deliver the boy, and Neil Curtis, his step-father at the time who
adopted him. In reality, Justin was Alexander's father, the product
of a brief affair the previous year. Although Anjelica knew that
Justin was Alexander's father, she had told everyone that Alexander's
father was a lover who'd left her. When Alexander's parentage came to
light, Neil willingly renounced all rights to him and Justin
recognized him as his son.
In
the coming months, Alexander was Anjelica's pawn in her plans to worm
her way back into Justin's life. In the end, he, Anjelica, and his
nurse, J.J. Bagwood, moved into the Kiriakis mansion with his
great-uncle, Victor. Despite his mother's selfish purposes, Anjelica
did truly love Alexander and only wanted the best for him. For almost
a year, Alexander was intensely cared for by both of his parents and
by his uncle Victor, who hoped to leave his empire to him one day. In
March of 1990, Anjelica took him in a hurry from the Kiriakis
mansion. She had just found out that her culpibility for destroying a
building would soon be exposed. Rushing to escape prosecution,
Anjelica booked passage for herself and Alexander on a flight to
Buenos Aires, Argentina. That flight crashed during take-off. While
everyone mourned Alexander's death, in reality, he and Anjelica were
alive and well because they'd never gotten on the plane.
In
March of 1991, Anjelica and Alexander were shown to be living in
relative poverty in the country. She had been running from city to
city keeping her identity a secret, and finally decided to do the
best possible thing for Alexander: return him to Justin. After making
arrangements with Johnny Corelli, Anjelica said good-bye to Alexander
and gave him to Johnny to return to Justin. Needless to say,
Alexander's sudden re-appearance (and the fact that he was alive!)
brought many tears of joy not only to Justin, but to Adrienne, and
Victor. Now a toddler, Alexander immediately recognized his father.
Soon after, the happy family left Salem for good to begin a new life
in Dallas, Texas.
The character of Alexander Kiriakis
was played by Jonathan Thornton from 1989-1990, and again in
