Episode#9678
Tape date &endash; various
Director &endash; Herb Stein

Summary: It’s Halloween evening in Salem…there is storm brewing and the killer is ready to strike again as everyone searches for a missing Rex. Call this one “Prelude to a Murder”

In Search of Rex…
Philip is at a costume party (dressed as Rocky?…he has on boxer trunks and gloves). Cassie arrives dressed in a cross between a dominatrix and Velma (Catherine Zetz-Jones from Chicago). She asks Philip if he likes and he comments that a LOT of guys like as all are standing around staring and making comments. She cracks her whip and Philip wonders why Rex and Mimi aren’t there yet. They argue over Rex’s innocence and Philip asks what if he is the killer and Cassie agrees that they need to stop him before he strikes again. They rush off to find him.

Meanwhile back at the loft, Mimi wants to go out and search for Rex, but they call his cell phone and find it ringing in the apartment. Shawn says that they must find him before it’s too late as Mimi argues that Rex is innocent. Shawn rushes out, followed by Mimi. They end up down on the docks as Mimi keeps saying that she is sure Rex is not a killer. Will walks up all down and out on his way home from the party. Shawn and Mimi offer to walk him home. But they get to Sami’s and she is no where to be found. Will checks over at Lucas’s and he isn’t there either. They decide to take him down to the pub.

Bonnie and Celeste
Earlier, Bonnie (dressed as a cross between Anna-Nicole Smith and a cowgirl ;-) She pulls out her cigarettes as someone walks up in a black robe and hood with a monster mask on. He pulls a gun on her and she pleads for her life and begins singing ‘Amazing Grace’ (LOL). It turns out that the gun is a cigarette lighter and he flicks it, getting a good laugh. But she is NOT amused and freaks out. After he leaves, a black cat comes running out and crosses right in front of her. She pulls out her “How to Survive Halloween” to find out how to break the curse. She reads (as she does it) “Spit three times, turn around and cross your toes…look left, then right and make sure the cat is out of sight. Don’t have a stroke, the spell is now broke. Stand up fast and MOVE YOUR ASS!” With that, she takes off running.

Celeste is at home doing a reading of her tarot cards and turns over the death card. She is sure that something bad is about to happen, the spirits are restless and evil is all around. There is a pounding at her door and she opens it to find a terrified Bonnie. Bonnie barges in babbling about what happened and asks for a drink. As she gulps down 2 of the mini-scotches she prattles on. Celeste gets a weird look and says “Oh no…it’s starting”. The lights start flashing, it’s thundering and lightening and the windows blow open, as Bonnie takes cover with some cushions from the sofa. Celeste calms her down and Bonnie sees the tarot cards and asks Celeste to read her fortune, but not here. She wants to go down to the pub where it’s safer and they can have some of Caroline Brady’s cheesecake. Celeste doesn’t really want to go, but Bonnie practically drags her out the door.

At the Pub…
Shawn and Mimi arrive with Will and are welcomed by Pop-Shawn (who explains that Caroline is helping out at St. Luke’s Halloween party). They ask if he has seen Rex, but he hasn’t. Philip and Cassie arrive as well. Cassie is trying to call Rex’s cell phone, but Shawn tells them about the phone. They are all worried about Maggie, so Shawn goes to call her and she assures him that she and Mickey are okay (see below). Philip says he has also called Victor’s and Henderson told him that neither he nor Nicole are at home either. Cassie calls DiMansion and learns that Mabel hasn’t seen either Tony or Rex either. So now they know that all 7 are missing and decide to go look for them…just as Celeste walks in and tells them that it is too late…the evil is already here. But they do not heed her warning and take off anyway.

At Mickey & Maggie’s…
There is a replay of Mickey on the phone with Marlena. He gets off the phone and reassures Maggie that nothing is going to happen to her…as we see the killer walking down the sidewalk in a hockey mask. (For the sake of my sanity, I am going to refer to the killer as a “he”…although there is no indication that it is). We KNOW it is the killer as he is having flashbacks of killing both Abe and Jack and of his attempt on Maggie. He stands outside their house looking through the window as he takes out a picture of Maggie and slashes it with the scalpel. Mickey gives her the sedative that Marlena prescribed and tries to calm her fears. They lighten up a bit and talk about Halloweens past. Wink, wink as Maggie remembers the time that Melissa wanted to dress up as Electra Woman (a character that Deidre Hall played on Saturday morning once upon a time) and that they wouldn’t let her because Mickey didn’t like the short sorts. Mickey assures her that they have a lot more memories to make but she isn’t so sure. Outside, the killer watches them through the window (we see the eye holes through his mask from his point of view and hear his heavy breathing). Maggie sees the cop’s flashlight outside (making rounds) as Mickey reassures her and suggests they go to bed for tomorrow is going to be a big day. They turn out the lights and head to bed as the killer reaches for the door knob. In their bedroom, they hear a noise that startles Maggie, so Mickey goes to check the back door. He activates the alarm system and as he looks up, the killer is standing right there looking in at him. Thinking it is a trick-or-treater, he tells him it is too late and to leave and besides, he is too old to be trick-or-treating. When Mickey looks back, he is gone. Outside, the cop scares off the killer who is hiding in the bushes. After Shawn calls to check on them (see above) Alice also calls. Maggie gets misty on the phone with her, telling her that she thinks of her like a mother and that she loves her. Mickey suggests that they go to bed, but he warns her that if she cannot sleep and roams the house NOT to let anyone in. As they get into bed, she talks about how all the suspects are either family, friends or patrons of Tuscany and doesn’t believe that it is one of them. Later, she can’t sleep and gets up and heads for the kitchen. Turning on the lights, she sits down and reads the paper at the table. She looks up and sees the killer at the window (who is not wearing the mask but has it in his hands). She smiles, happy to see them, when she sees their real face, but we do not see their face.

Back at the pub, Celeste is getting ready to Bonnie’s reading, but suddenly has an urge to call and check on Lexie, so she goes outside with her cell phone. While she is gone, Bonnie flips over one of the cards and it is the death card. Celeste calls Lexie and finds out she is okay, putting her mind at rest. Meanwhile, Mimi and Shawn go back to the loft, looking for Rex but he isn’t there. Shawn calls Hope (at the station) and tells her that all suspects are missing. After he hangs up the storm picks up, blowing open the windows and Mimi screems. Philip and Cassie are down at the docks, with Philip telling her that all signs point to Rex. The wind begins to blow and they take cover. Outside the pub, Celeste is bathed in a white glow and says “Death is about to claim its next victim.” Back at the Hortons, we only see Maggie from the killer’s point of view as she heads toward the door to let him in. She remembers Mickey’s warning, but decides that she is not going to live her life in fear, thinking that she is not going to be suspicious of people. She is SURE that the killer is not someone she knows. With that, she deactivates the alarm and opens the door, telling him that Mickey would have a fit if he knew she let someone in. She reactivates the alarm as the killer watches her and the screen turns blood red…and the previews roll…

On the Next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Shawn is pleading with Mimi, telling her how dangerous Rex is. Mimi says “He is NOT a killer”…

Philip tells Cassie that they know the killer will strike again and he knows that she is scared out of her mind…

Maggie gasps “Your eyes…” and then “Oh my God…it’s YOU” as we see a raised whiskey bottle.

We then see Bo, Hope, Shawn, Mimi, Philip and Cassie all gathered around a computer as everyone gasps. Hope says “OH MY GOD!” as it flashes to the hockey mask…and the credits roll.

Episode#9679
Tape date &endash; various
Director &endash; Stephen Wyman

Summary: Halloween night continues as Maggie serves cheese and crackers to her guest as Shawn, Mimi, Rex and Cassie look for Rex. Hope and Bo man the cop shop office as an alarming live video arrives on the computer. At the end of the show the killer hits Maggie with the alcohol bottle as Mickey arrives... (kudos to Suzanne Rogers and John Clark for their performance today..it breaks our heart to see Maggie go)..

COP SHOP
Hope and Bo are working late at the station. Bo joins Hope in Roman's office (where are John and Roman I wonder?) by the suspect board as she tells him all 7 suspects are missing again (I wondered how she returned to the force after all these years and was made a detective, but now I know why if the others can't even follow someone). Bo talked to the person watching Maggie's house and confirmed all was well there. Hope tells him Shawn's at the loft and she's worried about him getting too involved. They realize their son has a combination of their own traits. He reassures her they'll get their old life back one of these days and she hopes her sons will realize how many good people there are in the world. Bo resents how many adults are running around in costumes nowadays which makes their jobs harder, especially tonight. He sends an officer down to the pier to look for anything suspicious. Bo and Hope see that someone hacked into the police server and a message from them is downloading (slowly). An eerie text message about seeing who their next victim will be scrolls across the screen as they wait for more. Hope returns from talking to computer tech at the station and it was confirmed that their system was hacked into, but they can't trace the sender until he logs back in again. Bo tries to read the file and a skeleton head dances on the screen and the words DEATH COMES UNEXPECTEDLY...as he calls in for another radio update from the guard. He is told all's well and orders the guy to patrol the whole house's perimeter to make sure.

ON THE PIER
Cassie shivers (gee, wonder why being almost naked) on the dock as she and Philip talk of Rex. The wind blows harder and Philip and Cassie hold on to each other.

BRADY PUB
A replay of Celeste excusing herself to call Lexie and Bonnie turning over the death card. Celeste gets the premonition that another death will occur soon. She stands outside in the wind knowing another murder is taking place. Inside Bonnie tells Lisa the waitress that it's so windy her cheesecake almost blew off the table (yeah, on a glass plate?) and she smushed it trying to keep it on the table. Lisa tells her it's on the house when Bonnie asks for a discount on it. Bonnie then hides the death card in her bra. Cassie and Philip arrive and Bonnie loves her outfit, saying she has one just like it at home. Cassie's mouth drops and she asks Philip if she knows who that woman is when they sit at their table? When he tells her Mimi's mother, she isn't surprised, saying she's trash just like her daughter (yeah, looks who's wearing the cheerleader outfit and who's dressed like a dominatrix and we'll see who's TRASH). Bonnie goes outside to remind Celeste about her reading and finds her in a trance. Celeste says the killer has captured her mind. They return inside and finish Bonnie's reading (we don't see it).

Philip realizes that Cassie's defense of her brother is more trying to convince herself he's innocent. She remembers asking him to tell her the truth about if he attacked Bo and Hope, then leaves to go find Rex, worried if he's in trouble or sick. Philip leaves $$ on the table to follow her.

SHAWN'S LOFT
Mimi and Shawn worry about Rex and where he is. Mimi defends Rex, saying she wouldn't be with a killer as Shawn is relentless in exclaiming Rex's guilt. She wonders why Rex bought that hockey mask, but figures it's halloween and is more worried about his headaches. She asks Shawn to be sensitive to her boyfriend, the person she loves more then anyone in the world. When he yells that Rex is a Dimera and she demands he's not (we know why, he doesn't). Shawn insists his family has to stop the DiMera's before they hurt anyone else. They leave the loft to try and find Rex.

HORTON HOME
A replay of Maggie letting the person she knew in and resetting the alarm, confident she's locked the killer outside again. Relieved to have company, she prepares tea and talks non stop as we see the killer holding a scalpel and a bottle of booze in their gloved hands. She rattles on while cutting a block of cheese with a huge knife, not concerned her visitor isn't speaking at all (she appears to be looking up at whoever it is). She tells whomever it is about being a rebel in her youth and how she remembers when she met Mickey, when she was an alcoholic and admits feeling like her life is flashing through her eyes just like they say it does when you're dying. She gets up to cut more cheese for their crackers and finds her knife is missing.

Hope calls the Horton home and Mickey wakes up and answers the phone. He tells her that Maggie must be downstairs as she couldn't sleep. He assures Hope everything's okay and Maggie's got a big session with Marlena the next day. Hope returns to Bo and they see another message appear asking if they want to see the next murder take place and a fuzzy video from a video camera shows a room on the monitor. They try to figure out where it is as Hope tells Officer Santos to have tech support trace the sender.

A knock on Maggie's back door has her look out to see it's the guard. She turns off the security system and reassures him all's well, she just has insomnia. She invites him to join them for cheese and crackers, but he doesn't hear her due to the noisy wind. She noticed her guest wasn't in the kitchen, but doesn't say anything to the guard about it when she turns around. He advises her power's been going off in the neighborhood due to the wind and not to be alarmed if hers does as well and leaves. Maggie forgets to set the alarm again. The killer videos Maggie as she finds the knife and cuts more cheese. She tells them she feels safe and is not afraid to die admitting she's had a good life. She feels like the safest woman in the world as she puts the knife down to get something. Later the lights are flickering as she assures her guest. The lights go out and she goes to get some candles, but the lights come back on again. She asks where their video camera is when she sees they're holding a bottle of booze. She mentions they don't serve alcohol in their home for obvious reasons and asks where they got it saying she thought they said they weren't going to any party that night (so apparently the other person talked, just not when we were listening). As they get closer she looks into their eyes and recognizes him/her, saying it's you just before they whack her with the bottle (we don't see it) and the screen dramatically goes black.

Hope calls Mickey back and warns him not to let Maggie open the door to any more trick or treaters tonight (just what time is it? I shut my light off after 8:30) and to be extra careful. Shawn and Mimi arrive and Hope's disturbed they left the loft, but Bo calls out he's got something on the computer. They all rush over and Shawn recognizes the frog magnet on Aunt Maggie's refrigerator as the picture's now clearer. Bo calls the guard on the radio as Hope tries to call Mickey again. She keeps getting a busy signal. Mickey sees the security system light is green, but figures it's due to the power going on and off and throws his robe on.

Meanwhile, we see Maggie sitting on the floor backed to the cabinets, bleeding from the head. She begs the killer to let her live as Mickey needs her (oh, she's breaking my heart...) She couldn't believe it would be someone she knew and now realizes she didn't know them as they're sick. We see the killer raise the bloodied alcohol bottle again as she screams.

Philip and Cassie show up at the cop shop, much to Bo's dismay. Shawn throws something across the room saying Rex is over at Aunt Maggie's house...as they all return to the monitor (Bo ordered units over to 1313 Mockingbird Lane in the mean time). Mimi tells them about seeing Maggie's kitchen as Shawn plays on the computer and gets the feed back up. They all gasp as they see a bloodied Maggie unconscious on her kitchen floor. Mickey rushes in the kitchen looking for Maggie and sees the door open. He goes to shut it and sees Maggie on the floor. He kneels next to her and we see the killer's still there and walks up to Mickey holding the scalpel. Mickey looks up, but the killer has their mask on again as he says "it's you"...as the previews roll for the next DOOL...

Bo and Hope head out to Maggie's house and Bo orders Shawn to stay close to the computer and let him know if anything else is sent...Shawn asks them to be careful...

Mickey looks up asking how they can do that to Maggie as the killer holds the scalpel in front of Mickey's face...

Shawn vows that whoever the killer is, friend, family or foe, will be stopped...

Celeste and Bonnie go to leave the pub. Bonnie turns and screams ...as the credits roll...

Episode #9680
Tape date &endash; various
Director &endash; Phil Sogard

Halloween night continues, as Bonnie’s antics provide some relief to the tension generated in this episode, as the killer continues to taunt the Salem P.D., who finally reach Maggie’s house.

AT THE PUB Celeste & Bonnie continue the tarot reading, but Celeste is fearful as all the cards come up the death card. Bonnie says that is impossible as she pulls one from her bra, but Celeste insists the spirits are restless. Bonnie insists she deal again, as this is a ripoff just like Ms. Cleo, who took her for $200 on that phone call (lololol) She tries dealing again, but the cards ALL continue to come up as the death cards. Bonnie is upset, and sneaks back of the bar to snitch a couple glasses of whiskey. (I’d be on my ear with just one of those..lol). Celeste leaves to confront the evil, & Bonnie joins her, talking about how this all can become MOW! Celeste is puzzled, til Bonnie explains she means Movie of the Week….and goes on about how they would split the money. Celeste gets her vibes again, and goes on about how the evil is taking souls before their time, and the dead don’t like it. She claims the dead are returning to seek retribution. Bonnie moans that she knew she should not have taken Jack’s suits, but covers when Celeste questions her. 3 guys in skeleton costumes appear, the gals run…..down to the docks. (Oh, yeah, just the perfect spot). They hide, as the “skeletons” burst out laughing at how they scared the old broads, etc. Suddenly, there is a whispering chant….Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, kill, kill, kill….repeated over and over. The skeletons run, while Bonnie & Celeste cower. Bonnie says she is going home, pulling covers over her head until this night is over, but Celeste says is is too late….for Maggie Horton.

AT COP SHOP Bo & Hope, Shawn & Mimi (Philip has taken Cassie for a walk &endash; yeah, lame excuse, I know, and rather stupid) are watching the computer screen, seeing Maggie on floor, up against the counter. We now go to Maggie’s house, where Mickey is calling for Kent, the cop, to call 911, and turns to see the killer, scalpel in hand. Mickey rises, saying you are not going to get away with this, and takes on the killer. We see a shocked look on his face. Back to the cop shop, where the foursome see a dancing skeleton, and a high pitched voice saying, feast your eyes on this….as they see Mickey falling. Then the computer shows Mickey has also been propped up alongside Maggie. Bo frantically calls Kent, with no luck. Meanwhile, he learns that downed power lines, trees, etc. have blocked the normal route to Maggie’s home, so paramedics are taking longer than normal. On the computer screen, the killer’s face in the mask appears close up, then dissolves into a dancing skeleton, and a high-pitched sing song voice says “more to come, folks, much more to come”, then a maniacal laugh. Bo finally reaches Kent, and tells him the killer is in the house.

Kent goes in, finds Mickey & Maggie, calls the station. The killer comes in behind him, carrying something and strikes him. When Bo is unable to raise Kent, he & Hope both leave, ordering Shawn to stay on the computer and not to leave the station. (Like this hothead would listen!) Shawn & Mimi get into an argument about prayer, faith, God, good thoughts, etc, with Shawn berating it all, saying good people are being hurt and killed in spite of all this, & Mimi saying they must have faith. There has to be a reason. Shawn wants to leave to look for Rex, and goes anyway, despite Mimi’s reminder of what his parents had made his promise.

Bo & Hope arrive at the Horton home, find Mickey & Maggie, call paramedics. Lights finally flicker on, Maggie seems to come to, shuddering and moaning. The paramedics arrive, and they say Maggie has been bludgeoned, and has a deep stab wound. Mickey has small stab wounds to the left arm and right side. Hope comes across a wounded Kent. The medics say Mickey is not too bad, but Maggie is going to need a miracle, as they take them on gurneys to the waiting ambulance. Later, Hope is on the phone to Jen, telling her she has already called Lexie, but not Gran, and evidently Jen says she will do so. Bo finds a bloody rolling pin, one of the weapons (probably that was used on Kent) and then finds the whiskey bottle used on Maggie. He calls the station, saying he is sending the stuff for Tek to examine. The responding cop says Tek is off-site, but he will make sure he is waiting at the lab. Bo tells Hope to go with her aunt in the ambulance, but Hope says her job is here, and she intends to get the person responsible for attacking her family.

BACK ON THE DOCKS Bonnie notices the whispering voices have stopped, and she babbles on to Celeste about nice Mrs. Maggie Horton, how she got Bonnie other jobs, and has this fabulous wardrobe. Celeste calls Lexie, giving Bonnie the opportunity to have a little fantasy. She is in her maid’s uniform, mop in one hand, pail in the other, when she sees a vision…..it is Maggie as an angel, all in white, wings included. She has come to tell Bonnie something. Bonnie, fearful, says, you are not going to tell me I am…..as she literally kicks the bucket…lolol. Maggie says no, but I have left you something in my will. Bonnie gets excited, thinking perhaps it is perhaps her handsome husband (Maggie gives a shocking, NO!)….. Tuscany….but no, it is her wardrobe. Maggie (She is one fabulously beautiful woman, if it has not been mentioned before, yes I know it has, but she is!) waves her wand, and Bonnie is transformed, hair, makeup, wearing a beautiful, strapless, form fitting white gown, with some black designs in the bottom part that flares out from the knees. She looks gorgeous, but protests that she is a rather full-figured woman, and that the clothes would really not fit, that no one could ever take Maggie’s place, and to change her back. Maggie waves the wand, and Bonnie once more stands, mop in hand (why do I think of Cinderella here?), as Celeste comes up with the news about Maggie & Mickey being attacked. She says, the evil is here to stay.

They leave the docks, with Bonnie babbling about the spooky night, and stop in front of the costume shop, commenting how the masks and costumes are all so scary. Bonnie babbles about various horror movies, and they see the hockey mask, saying that was scariest of all, even with blinking eyes. Suddenly they realize that it is a reflection they are seeing, and the person is behind them. Scared as they are, they slowly turn around, and Bonnie screams to high heaven. Over at Salem Place, Shawn & Mimi hear the scream and run towards it. Meanwhile Bonnie decides it is just another person trying to scare older folks, and walks right up, confronting the guy, knocking the scalpel aside, commenting on not wanting to get her leather…..well, imitation leather jacket ruined. We see his view of her thru the eyes in the mask. Suddenly, both Celeste & Bonnie realize it is the killer, and run away, bumping into Shawn & Mimi, exclaiming about the killer. We see a figure with a hockey mask (no scalpel) come around the corner, turn and run away, and Shawn gives chase. The figure reaches a locked chain link fence, and Shawn is right behind him………as the previews for next show roll……

Sami to Lucas….I get it, I did it, I killed her

A cop to Shawn &endash; Take off the mask, let’s see who it is, as Shawn rips off the mask and looks a bit stunned

Kate to Roman….You’re right, tonight I blew it. Am going to confess.

Jen & Hope at Maggie’s bedside. Her entire head is bandaged. Jen says, Do you know who did this, as Maggie says yes.

Episode #9681
Tape date &endash; various
Director &endash; Phil Sogard

Summary: Maggie Horton clings to life as the search for the suspects continues…Rex, Sami, Lucas and Kate are all located…with two of them coming across looking extremely guilty…first Sami, then Rex.

At the Cop Shop…

Roman is back and in charge at the station barking orders at everyone. He watches the video feeds of Mickey and Maggie being attacked (as we see more graphic images of Maggies attack than before), then they are seen being placed against the cabinet and the killer waves at the camera. Roman vows to come after the “bastard”. Later, he is on the phons with CSI going over the clues. Then he calls Kate, but gets her voice mail and prays that she has an alibi.

Later, he is on the docks and spots someone in a black coat and hood. As he sneaks up on them, he calls for backup. He pulls his gun and have the person turn around, only to find Kate. He asks his famous “what da hell?” is she doing out so late and where she has been. He calls and cancels the back up as Kate protests and proclaims her innocence. He informs her that she fits the description but she is a bit confused. He informs her about the attack on Mickey and Maggie as he is very suspicious of her. She says Maggie is a friend and she has no reason to attack her. They argue and she finally gives up, saying she blew it. Roman asks her if she is going to confess and she says yes, why not?…he has already tried and convicted her…just go ahead and lock her up. They sit down as he asks her where she has been. She tells him that she was at the pub with Will and later, went looking for Lucas but couldn’t find him. Roman suggests that they go together and look for Lucas and Sami. They go over to her apartment but she isn’t there. Kate spots a black hooded coat and points it out to Roman. Roman says that there is a killer among them and he is not going to go easy on them…whoever it is.

Sami & Lucas…
Earlier, Sami was in bed having a nightmare of Mickey and Maggie being attacked. Her entire dream was from the killer’s point of view. She wakes up screaming her head off as Lucas comes rushing in and wakes her. Hysterical, she says “I did it…I killed her”. She is disoriented, and starts wiping her hands, thinking there is blood all over her. He calms her down and finally gets her fully awake as she describes her vivid dream, all the way down to the whiskey bottle and scalpel. A shocked Lucas says it sounds like she is describing the scene and thinks she was there…therefore she must be the killer. She swears she wasn’t and gets very agitated and begins yelling at him to leave. They argue as Sami begins to slam Maggie for her fragile state of mind. She says you couldn’t even look at her without her crying. Sami says she knows personally how it feels to have someone trying to kill her, but she is the kind to fight back…not be afraid and cower like Maggie and cry at the drop of a hat. Lucas has heard enough and gets disgusted with Sami. But Sami says that maybe Lucas is afraid that Maggie would name him as the killer. Lucas tries to call over to the Horton’s to check on them, but Sami stops him. He decides it would be better to go over there and check on them. Sami jumps out of bed and begins to dress, demanding to go along.

Later, they arrive at Mickey and Maggies, and see cops crawling all over the place. Sami has more flashes from her dream as Lucas says it was NOT a dream…she tried to kill Maggie. Lucas demands to know what she did to his aunt Maggie, but she says nothing…it was just a dream. Sami asks if he is trying to cover up his own guilt and reminds him of the comment he made as he left the party and asks him about HIS alibi. They decide that being there is not a good idea and makes them both look guilty so they decide to leave before anyone sees them. Oops, too late. A cop walks up and recognizes them as being suspects in the other murders. He informs them that Mickey and Maggie were attacked. Lucas asks how it happened and he tells them about the murder weapons (oh, come on!). After the cop leaves, Lucas looks at Sami, saying he is sure she did it and accuses her of being the killer.

In Search of Rex…
Rex and Cassie are still on the docks looking for Rex as Shawn and Mimi chase the hooded figure down an alley. Philip and Cassie come rushing up as Philip and Shawn hold him down. Shawn pulls off the mask, but it isn’t Rex, as he was sure it was. It is some other kid, (Elliot something) that Mimi works with at the Java Café. Cassie knows him from school as well. He wants to know what is wrong with Shawn as he explains. But the guy says it’s Halloween, everyone is dressed up. They realize they have the wrong guy and Elliot says that it is Shawn that is psycho. Mimi is sure that Rex has an alibi. Shawn has an idea and takes off to look for him, with the other 3 following. They all end up at DiMansion and search the house. They find Rex upstairs asleep in his bed, but they can’t wake him up. Cassie explains he is wired that way and falls into these deep sleeps. Shawn and Philip look around and find a black hooded cape and hockey mask in the bathroom. Mimi asks Cassie what if Shawn is right and Rex did do it, but Cassie defends her brother. She whips out her cell phone, saying they need help and calls Marlena. But Marlena doesn’t answer (hmmm…wonder where she is) so she leaves a voice mail. Philip walks up and asks if she thinks he is guilty. Shawn tries to call Bo and Hope, but can’t get them either. Rex begins to wake up as they all gather around. Shawn asks him if he knows why they are there and he says yes, because Maggie Horton was attacked and she is dead (as everyone exchanges glances). Shawn and Philip jump all over that as Shawn is now sure that he is the killer.

At the Hospital…
Friends and family gather (and the group sure is getting smaller) as Lexie tends to a bandaged Maggie and vows to save her life. Jen, Alice and Caroline are there as Mickey is brought into the waiting area via wheelchair, saying he is okay. Lexie comes out and informs them that Maggie is suffering from some kind of hematoma and lost a lot of blood and her vitals are weak as Jen comforts Mickey. Lexie doesn’t want to offer false hope and says that there could be brain damage. Mickey begs to go to her as Lexie takes him in and Alice and Caroline comfort Jen. Caroline says that the killer struck to keep Maggie quiet. Mickey sits by her bedside (oh, heartbreaking) calling her “red” and begging her to live, saying she is his world and that he don’t know what he’d do without her :-(. Jen is on the phone with Hope, giving her an update as they bring Mickey back out and Alice says they need to pray. Caroline disappears for a while (I think she went to the chapel). Lexie tells Jen it doesn’t look good. There is a code blue (as Lexie rushes off) . Later, Alice and Caroline go to the chapel as Jen informs Mickey that she has talked to both her dad and Mike. She also tells him that she tried to call Melissa and Sara, but got their voice mails and didn’t want to leave this message. Instead she asked them to call her. She also tells him that she tried to call Lucas but couldn’t find him. Both of them find it hard to believe that Lucas could be guilty (as do I). But Mickey is sure that the attacker is someone that Maggie knew because she let them in. Lexie rushes out and tells them that Maggie is conscious and they rush into her room. Mickey tries to get her to talk, but she is just worried about him, noting the bruises on his face (this is breaking my heart here). Jen asks her if she knows who did this to her and she says yes, I do…the screen fades and the previews roll…

ON THE NEXT DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Hope tells Jen that she must go and question Mickey…on the video feed they saw him look up and say “YOU”…

Philip shakes Tony, calling his name. Tony jumps up and kicks Philip up against the wall…

Nicole tells Brady that he is the only person she can’t hide from…

Marlena tells Rex that they need to know if he had anything to do with the attack on Maggie. He says no and Shawn yells “LIAR!”…

And the credits roll…

Episode #9682
Tape date &endash; various
Director &endash; Roger Inman

Summary: Jen, Hope, Mickey and Lexie surround Maggie hoping for the killer's name, Marlena and Tony join the spy kids as they question Rex, Brady and Nicole are caught yet again by Victor.

Hanging around the back alleys of Salem...
is another murder suspect, Nicole. Brady finds her (wearing a black hooded poncho that's zippered down the front) and blue jeans. She tosses what we see to be a hockey mask (with what appeared to be the 2 holes in the top like Rex's from the quick glimpse I got) into the convenient garbage can fire. Brady asks what she's doing. She admits burning a halloween mask that she wore when she left the house, saying she was able to walk amongst the crowd and not be stared or whispered about like she is during the daytime with her picture plastered on the front page of the newspaper as a murder suspect. Also, she never was able to dress up in a costume when she was a kid and wanted to see what it felt like. She whines about the $100K that Victor is giving her, saying he spends more on his cuff links. She mentions Maggie's hypnotherapy session with Marlena the next day, but Brady can tell and she admits, not being worried about Maggie now or ever because she didn't kill Abe or Jack. She doesn't want to talk about it anymore, just be alone. She explains she took the mask off as she realized she can't hide all her life and was just fooling herself. She asked herself what Marlena would say if she knew she was hiding behind a mask and probably needing psychoanalysis. Nicole tells Brady he's the only person she can't hide from. They talk about how he sees her as a good person, just doesn't have the faith in herself that she is. He blames her father, who only praised her to get his own way. He puts his jacket around her to warm her up and tells her she deserves to be loved and it's the only thing that matters in life. (being they're married in real life, you can see the warm smile they exchange is heart felt). Victor walks up and comments on finding them together again, but this time Brady has his clothes still on. He wants an explanation what's going on. He asks Nicole if she's decided to accept his terms for their divorce (knowing that means leaving town and never seeing Brady again) and saying out loud that he knows Brady will want to know when she's available. He knows damn well something's going on between them.

Back in the ICU...
Jen pleads with Maggie to tell them if she saw who the killer was. Lexie and Mickey are also there as Maggie watches them. Hope arrives and Lexie fills her in that Maggie's conscious and about to name the killer. Hope assures Maggie that she's safe (yeah, heard THAT before, huh Maggie?) and asks who it was. Maggie tries to speak, but only talks about Tuscany and she's got to open in an hour. Lexie explains Maggie's brain was deprived of oxygen and just rambling. They step out into the hallway. (Caroline and Alice must still be in the chapel as we don't see them at all today)

Mickey tells Jen and Hope about how he and Maggie shared some memories about their daughter, Sarah, before bed. Mickey had Maggie they'll have many more to come, but Maggie didn't think so as he tries not to break down (poor Mickey) Lexie tries to get Mickey to rest, but he doesn't want to leave Maggie's side and gets out of the wheelchair holding his side. Hope tells Jen that she questioned Officer Kent and he didn't see his attacker. She tells Jen about the video they witnessed and how Uncle Mickey looked up at the killer and said "it's you". The cousins comfort each other for a moment, wishing this were all over with. Hope hates to have to question Uncle Mickey at a time like this, but has to. Lexie asks Hope to try and get Mickey to rest in bed and she'll go back in with Maggie. Hope asks Mickey and he tells her about kneeling next to Maggie and stood up when the killer approached. He remembers back (as we see a flashback) of seeing the scalpel and the killer wearing their mask again. He asks about Officer Kent and Hope tells him both he and Officer Kent were lucky. They all look in to see Maggie asleep again, wishing she was as lucky. Lexie steps out saying there's no change in Maggie's condition. She's unconscious again and on oxygen. Mickey refuses to leave and Lexie steps back inside with Maggie. Hope asks why Maggie turned off the alarm. He remembers warning Maggie not to let anyone in. He tells them how trusting Maggie was and didn't believe any of the suspects was the killer and could have let any one of them in. Hope asks how he knew this and he tells them how they had talked before bed about it. Jen mentions some of the suspects like Nicole, Tony, Rex weren't close friends. He knows Maggie felt it inconceivable that anyone she either knew or loved would do this and he must be a madman. Hope picks up on that and figures Maggie subconsciously knew the killer was a man. Jen stops Hope before she calls Bo with that information, saying "he" is a generic term people use. Lexie rushes out, telling Mickey to get in there now.

DIMERA HOME
Marlena arrives after getting Cassie's message about Rex. She's dressed in a black and white jacket and skirt (why was she so dressed up on Halloween evening and where is John??) and Shawn (who is getting on my last nerve) starts ranting about how Rex is guilty and for the time Rex was conscious, admitted knowing that Maggie was dead. Marlena is surprised that he knew that (did SHE even know Maggie was attacked?) She tries to wake Rex up when Shawn pulls out his cell and tells them he's going to call his dad to come arrest Rex for the murders of Abe, Jack and Maggie. Marlena asks him not to until Rex wakes up and can explain. Shawn goes on about how Rex is guilty while Mimi defends him. Shawn tells her about how they saw the killer wearing the same outfit (well, similar outfit....take a look at the masks below Shawn) as the killer and about seeing the video from Maggie's home at the police station. He finally says they found Rex's outfit in the closet (and haven't touched it) and he's sure Rex is doing Tony's dirty work for him. They tell her that Cassie and Philip are off looking for Tony. Marlena finally calms Shawn down and he agrees to let her talk to Rex first. She sits on the bed and asks Rex to come towards her voice, it's his.... pause, mother. (In my opinion, a couple of months ago I think Shawn would have just slipped outside into the hall and quietly called Bo with Rex's whereabouts, not ranting on and on like this)

Cassie and Philip are down in the tunnels below the mansion. She takes him to the secret room she and Rex were ordered to stay out of. The door opens (not even locked?) and they go in. Philip said he can't believe it. They find Tony (all in black of course) meditating in a yoga pose with candles burning in front of him. Cassie tells Philip she and Rex followed him down there one time, but were under strict orders never to go there again. Philip figures he'd want to know his son was about to be arrested and gently nudges Tony's arm, calling his name. Tony gets up and karate kicks Philip up against the wall. Cassie tells Tony that Philip wasn't there to hurt him and to stop. Surprised that Tony had it in him, Tony admits he could have killed Philip without coming out of his trance. They tell him about Rex.

Rex finally wakes up, saying Marlena...Mom, and asks how long he's been sleeping. Shawn wastes no time in accusing Rex of killing Jack and Abe and attacking Maggie tonight when Tony, Philip and Cassie arrive. Marlena turns to see them and gasps at Cassie's outfit (LOL!!) as Cassie tries to close the jacket she's wearing a little (hey mom, she wasn't even wearing the jacket earlier, ha!). Tony demands everyone stop harrassing his son and orders anyone that's not family out of his house. Shawn refuses (big surprise there). He back talks Tony, calling him Dimera, and saying he wouldn't leave until he calls his dad to come arrest Rex. Philip stands protectively in front of Shawn and Tony reminds him not to get in his way again. Philip tells them how Tony roughed him up when he and Cassie found him. Tony explains he woke him up from his meditation (interesting how both Tony and Rex were in a meditative type state at the same time, isn't it?). Marlena softly tells Tony that's enough and Shawn to hang up the phone. She promises to have Tony arrested if he hurts anyone physically or verbally again. She asks Rex if he had anything to do with the attack on Maggie Horton. He says no and Shawn shouts LIAR. Rex defends himself, saying everyone knew Maggie was about to name the killer. Tony asks when Maggie was attacked and Marlena tells him 3-4 hours ago (why wasn't she at the hospital then? She wasn't there for Jennifer/Jack either.) Tony says he heard Rex come home before he went downstairs to meditate. Shawn jokes about this story having so many holes he should have brought his golf clubs and how far the DiMera's will go to cover their asses. One lies and the other one swears to it as Tony and Rex smile at each other. Philip asks Rex about why he didn't go to the halloween party. He said he got a headache and came home. Marlena orders them to stop and says the police will handle it from now on. Shawn agrees and goes to the closet to bag Rex's costume to log into the station as evidence. Rex agrees, saying it'll be the best way to prove his innocence. Shawn picks up the outfit with a hanger and we see wet blood on his outfit. Cue the music and shocked looked on everyone's faces
as the previews for the next DAYS OF OUR LIVES roll..

Tony asks Marlena what about the other suspects? Do they have an alibi? If there were damaging evidence again Sami, wouldn't she protect her daughter the same way he's protecting their son?

Sami and Marlena are talking at Sami's apartment. Marlena asks Sami if she had something to do with the attack on Maggie? Sami bursts out NO she asked for her mother's help, not for her to hang her for murder...

Lucas arrives at the hospital, asking Jen if he's too late. She asks him if he did this...

Shawn threatens Rex that if Aunt Maggie dies, he will make sure he pays....
