Episode #9688
Taped &endash; Various
Director &endash; Phil Sogard
Summary: Despite being surrounded by friends and family to protect her, Salem bids farewell to the Brady Matriarch, Caroline Brady (and Peggy McCay) From the jail, Rex claims his innocence, but knows the moment she dies.
At the Jail
Rex catches Mimi with the pen/recorder when she drops it. He
recognizes it being Shawn's as she tries to play innocent and say she
must have just picked it up. He accuses her of spying on him for
Shawn. She denies it but it is hard to deny when he flips it on and
we hear Shawn giving her instructions on how to use the pen. He asks
if she thinks he is a killer and she tells him she doesn't know WHAT
to believe, but only wants to help him. She asks for the
truth
is he guilty? She prays that he is innocent, but says he
just looks so guilty. He tells her that whatever happens, she is the
best thing that has ever happened to him and he loves her. He kisses
her and tells her that they made a mistake locking him up and says
something about the clock ticking down. He says if he could get out
of there, he could stop it. She yells for the guard, but he stops
her, telling her it is too late, the next victim is already dead.
At St. Lukes
In the garden, Tony is on the phone with "father", telling him about
he funeral and Caroline's casket showing up. Cassie walks up and he
cuts the call short. She asks what he is doing and he says he is
stalking the Bradys of course, since Bo and Roman are determined to
bring him down. He tells her about what happened a the funeral and
she says that now everyone will realize that Rex is innocent. He
tells her that the Brady boys have their mother in the church and
won't let her out of their sights to keep her safe.
Shawn returns to the church and finds out about the 4th casket showing up as he rants about it. Hope tries to calm him down, but he is convinced the DiMeras are behind it all. She warns him not to try and take matters into his own hands (like he would listen?) He sees Cassie and Tony through the window in the garden and is determined to confront them as Hope tries to stop him. He rushes out there as he and Tony have a physical confrontation and Tony ends up knocking Shawn on his butt. Tony warns Hope to keep him away or he will take legal action. Bo comes out and hustles Hope and Shawn back inside.
Cassie is impressed with Tony. He attributes it all to the timing and knowing when the moment is right. He tells her that all you need to do is look for the signs. Then a black raven flies in and sits on a bench. He explains the stories of the Phoenix and the Raven (bird of death) which seems to frightens Cassie a bit. She asks him if the raven is sensing death and Tony says yes. Later in the show they are seen again as Tony tells her their work is done there and suggests they go to the Brady pub to eat. The raven sqwaks as they leave.
In the church Bo checks on PopShawn and Caroline. (Everyone else is attending the graveside rites). They wonder who could have done something like this. Roman has checked the funeral home and learned that the casket and flowers were paid for by an anonymous person in cash. They question Caroline, trying to find out if there is anything she could have known and not realized it, like Maggie. Caroline recalls a conversation with Maggie earlier where Maggie kept going on and on about an episode of 'Law and Order' and about the eyes of the killer. Roman shows Caroline the picture that Maggie drew and they think that perhaps the killer thought that Maggie had passed some information on to Caroline. They all promise to protect her. Caroline talks to PopShawn alone and goes on and on about him keeping the pub if something should happen to her and about her not being around. He doesn't like her talking like that and says that she will be there with him. She promises to always be around. Caroline then wants to talk to her grandson Shawn alone and they leave and go to the bridal room. In there, she opens the hope chest and talks about the day she saw Belle in her dress. She pulls out the family Bible and shows him the Brady family tree and also gives him the family chalice, saying she wants his name on it someday along with all the others, a tradition she wants him to carry on. She also pulls out a baby picture of him and they hug. She says she loves all her grandchildren, but he is just special to her. She hugs him so hard, he comments that it is like for the last time. He vows to let nothing happen to her and she promises she is going nowhere.
As this is going on, Bo and Roman worry about their mother. They hear a noise in the foyer and rush out there to see someone and tackle them to the floor. Roman pulls his gun as Bo flips him over it's Victor. Roman goes to arrest him but Hope rushes up, telling them that he didn't break in, she let him in. Victor explains that he just wanted to talk to Caroline and was worried about her. Bo pulls Hope aside and chews her out for letting a suspect in. He reminds her how Maggie was trusting and opened her door to the killer. Hope explains that Victor would never hurt Caroline and that she was the one true love of his life and he was just worried about her. She asks Bo to put himself in Victor's shoes .what if it were her in danger. They hug and go back to the foyer.
Later, there is a knock at the bridal room door and Shawn opens it to find Victor and Bo there. As Bo and Shawn wait on her, Victor and Caroline talk alone as he tells her that he has always loved her and had to come and see her. She remembers the day she told him that he was Bo's father and how angry he was (we see some great flashbacks here as both of them look so young) She apologizes for not being honest with him as he vows to help protect her.
Roman tells Bo and Hope that Victor has a bullet-proof limo there waiting to take them all to the pub. Hope goes into the sanctuary and looks at the casket. She then prays for Caroline (as well as the whole family). She asks for protection "not just for today but for all the days of our lives." Everyone gathers back in the foyer as PopShawn thanks Victor for his help. Caroline pulls Roman aside and thanks him for all he is doing and asks him to watch over his father if anything should happen to her. Bo steps in and promises her that NOTHING is going to happen. As they prepare to leave, Caroline wants to go back into the sanctuary and pray. As she goes through the door, she takes one last look back at all of them at PopShawn then Victor then Roman, Bo and Shawn, then at Hope and smiles. She says that she has been so blessed in this life, especially by her family and friends and has never felt their love more than today God bless them all. After she goes inside, Bo pulls out the pda and sees that the clock has almost run out. Inside, Caroline kneels at the front of the church and begins the Lord's Prayer as she has a flashback of her and PopShawn (where he is giving her an emerald ring). As she finishes her prayer, Bo says the clock has run out and that Ma is safe and it's time to take her home. He goes into get her but sees her still kneeling in the church and tells everyone that he doesn't want to interrupt her prayer. He quietly walks up behind her and puts his hand on her shoulder calling "mom mom" She falls back into his arms as he screams "NNNOOOOO!!!" and the previews roll
On the next DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Marlena tells John that there's one other possibility voodoo death
Kate asks Sami if that is a threat? Are you going to make sure that I'm next? Sami says I'm going to make sure that my dad never looks at you again
Victor rushes across the living room and grabs Nicole by the neck and begins choking her

Episode #9689
Taped &endash; Various
Director &endash; Herb Stein
Summary: The Brady's mourn the loss of their matriarch, Caroline Brady. John and Marlena step into action as he interrogates Sami while Marlena offers comfort to Roman; Shawn declares war against the Dimera's as Bo and Hope vow to catch Caroline's murderer. Kudos to Peter Reckell (Bo) for a powerful performance as he says goodbye to his Ma (sniff).
AT THE KIRIAKIS MANSION
Nicole returns home from the funeral and comes on to Brady who's
sitting on the couch. "Granny" gives him some "sugar" and she offers
to tell him a story if he gets on her lap. Nope, she decides to kneel
astride him (not easy in that tight dress) and kiss him. While Brady
isn't encouraging her, he isn't protesting too heartily either.
AT ST. LUKES...
there's a replay of them going to check on Caroline and Bo
calling out noooo when she collapes in his arms. The rest rush in
from the foyer and Hope goes out calling for an ambulance. John and
Marlena are outside the church (a little late, aren't we?) as Marlena
rushes in after giving her keys (which are in her hand) to a cop to
get her bag out of the black convertible. Bo and Roman are doing CPR
while Shawn picks up Bo's PDA which slid on the floor in his rush to
Caroline. The PDA goes from the countdown to I TOLD YOU SHE WOULD
DIE. John tells them an ambulance is on the way as Marlena announces
Caroline's eyes are fixed and dialated, she's gone. Everyone comforts
each other as Bo cradles his mother in his arms (sniff). Marlena
tells Pop Shawn that Caroline suffered irreversible brain damage and
is gone. He breaks into sobs as she pats his shoulder in the pew.
Shawn asks how they got to Caroline with everyone there and Bo tells
him they will find out. Shawn remembers Cassie and Tony outside
earlier, but John tells them they weren't there just now. Hope tries
to stop Shawn from leaving (I'm sure remembering how angry he was
earlier), but Bo tells her it's okay. Roman kicks into cop mode
determined not to let the trail get cold and for the church to be
checked. Hope hugs Bo.
Shawn finds Cassie out front by the shrubs and grabs her, saying she's dead and how proud Tony would be of her. She tells him she's sorry about his grandmother and he vows not to let her get away with it. She feels bad for him and only returned for her scarf. An angry Shawn grabs Cassie by the neck and starts shaking her until Mimi pulls him off. He tells Mimi about Caroline. Mimi explains how Rex put the clues together, but was behind bars. Mimi begs Shawn to give Rex (she adds the man she loves) a chance to help piece the clues together. Shawn tells Cassie that this was a declaration of war between the Dimera's and the Brady's and the Brady's will wipe the Dimeras off the face of the earth.
Inside Father Jansen kneels saying a prayer over Caroline as they all kneel around her. Marlena knows Caroline had a heart condition and wonders if it could have been from natural causes. Bo finds it hard to believe on the killer's schedule and she died when his PDA timed out. Marlena mentions another medical phenomena, voodoo death. John loved Caroline like a mother and hugs both Bo and Roman, knowing how hard this is on them. He offers to question Sami and Kate for Roman and he thanks him, agreeing. Marlena agrees to wait with Caroline for the coroner, but reminds John how Sami loved her grandmother who was there for her when Marlena wasn't. John says the only person Sami loves is herself and leaves.
Victor lights a candle for Caroline as an angry Bo joins him. While Victor patiently listens, Bo (with tears in his eyes) vents about Victor's being there and for not letting his mother go. He tells him he's not his father, or family, and it was his mistake to let him stay there for a perfect alibi. Victor thanks him for what were his last few minutes with the love of his life and quietly leaves.
Marlena and Roman talk later. She tells him she told the coroner what happened (hopefully an autopsy will be done being her death was mysterious) and she feels she should go to the pub to help people there and that she'll call Eric. Roman said he'll call him later too. She breaks down, remembering the first time he took her to the Brady Fish Market when he was guarding her. Caroline never rejected her, regardless of what was happening. She offers Roman to be there if he needs anything and leaves.
Hope finds Bo next to where Caroline died. She tells him they couldn't trace the origin of his PDA's message and they should go to the pub to be with family. (I didn't recognize anyone at the pub beside the ones mentioned. Was Maggie's headwaiter Dave even there?) Bo asks for a few minutes alone. Hope mentions Kate to Roman, saying he shouldn't be alone right now. He reminds her Kate's a suspect and he's use to being alone.
WE RETURN TO THE KIRIAKIS LIVING ROOM...
and find Brady was day dreaming earlier as Nicole really does
return. She has pictures of her posing in barely anything. We return
to her asking which is his favorite, but he just agrees with his
grandfather about her and leaves. Victor arrives to find Nicole
filing her nails. She tells him how she heard on the radio about
Caroline's death and Victor, her prior lover, was there at the time.
She figures Caroline got the better end of the deal, being dead over
married to him. Victor can't take any more and rushes over to start
strangling her (my husband's in the background cheering for Victor,
LOL!!) Brady rushes in and pulls Victor off asking what he's doing.
Nicole said the bastard's trying to kill me. Victor tells her if he
sees her face again he will and leaves. Nicole asks Brady if he
believes her now. He never saw his grandfather out of control like
that .
THE PUB
is open to the mourners after the cemetary, but before Caroline
actually dies (wow, that was a fast triple graveside service if they
had it and people gathered at the pub within the hour). Lucas rebuffs
his mother and Sami enjoys taunting her about it. Mimi arrives and
asks Sami where Caroline is. Sami tells her she's at the church with
about 100 cops protecting her. Kate tells her that the widows and
widower went home to cry alone when Mimi asked to see them to give
her condolences. They mention counting down the hour in public view
(Kate and Lucas) which even surprises Sami. We see Lucas checking his
watch as well. Kate is relentless telling Sami her grandmother has
probably washed her hands of her. Lucas finally reminds them both
that this is a wake and Maggie Horton was one of the best people on
earth and for them to have some respect. Mimi, agreeing and saying
that would be over their head, walks out. Sami remains quiet as Kate
loudly berates her, saying she's cursed and that's why all the
supernatural events are occuring. Lucas leaves and Sami tells Kate
she knows she didn't tell Lucas about her past, he overheard them
talking, and to call Victor off. The two continue their bickering and
Sami vows to Kate to breakup both John and Marlena and her and Roman.
Kate tells her that people are not like rag dolls and reminds her
what her grandmother told her earlier. Sami responds no one, even her
grandmother, will stand in her way....as John walks in and tells them
that won't be a problem as Caroline's dead. Sami starts crying and
John is cold as he reminds Sami she's a suspect. In tears, Sami tells
them she wasn't there, she was at the cemetary and the pub. Kate and
Lucas agree, saying so were they. John is surprised the three of them
alibi each other. He asks what she and Caroline argued about this
morning (how does HE know, he wasn't even there himself). She tells
him and was going to apologize to her grandmother when she arrived.
John is merciless as Sami continues crying and threatens to take her
down to the station and cuff her to the desk if need be to question
her. Marlena walks in and observes what's going on. Sami says Mom and
rushes into her arms as John merely smirks. Marlena assures her
daughter she believes her and tells her to go wash her face. John
tells her it was quite a performance, saying he was interrogating
her. She reminds him he's not on the police payroll. He tells her
he's been trained to do it and she reminds him she was a trained
police psychiatrist for years. She suggests he put himself in Sami's
shoes. John brings up he's been there for Sami more years then she
has (ouch) and thought Caroline was his mother for a while as well.
He's not cutting Sami a break or making excuses for her. She reminds
him just like he didn't for Brady (double ouch). They finally hug and
realize they have to stick together now more then ever. Roman arrives
and Sami's worried about him, saying he shouldn't be alone right now
as she and Kate are suspects and can't be with him. He says he called
Kim and Kayla on the way over (hope he walked and didn't drive while
doing that). He realized it had been 10 months since he talked to Kim
(shame on you!) and how ma kept him up to date on his sisters. Roman
hugs Marlena as Kate and Sami watch. It's bittersweet for Sami to see
her parents hugging.
BACK TO ST. LUKES...
Hope returns to the altar where Caroline's lying on a guerney and Bo
asks his mother what he's going to do without her. He stops the
coroner from zipping up the bag as he's not ready to say goodbye.
Breaking down, he tells her she was the best mom and grandmother. He
knows her relationship with her God kept her (and them) together. He
knows it was thanks to her what he is now and sobbing over his mom's
corpse, telling her he loves her and thanks her for the love she gave
them and says goodbye as he himself zips the bag before the coroners
wheel her out. He goes to the altar and tells God she was the best
and how he use to kid with her about being the best and she'd laugh.
She was the most wonderful, spirited woman with the sweetest and
kindest soul. His mom, Caroline Brady..he promises to avenge her
death. Hope promises to help him and together they'll build the
strongest case so whomever it is, won't get off. He looks at her and
says if this maniac lives that long....
ON THE NEXT DOOL....
Lucas (shirtless) tells Sami he knows exactly what has to be done. They have to get together...as Sami turns her head in surprise...
At Salem Place..John looks at Kate and says, "Oh my God, is it you?" She tells him she's a serial murderess and holds up her hands for handcuffs. She tells him to just to do it and put everyone out of their misery...
Hope looks at something and tells Bo this could break the case wide open..
as the credits roll...

Episode #9690
Tape date &endash; Oct. 23, 2003
Director &endash; Roger Inman
The Bradys, individually, grieve for their mother & grandmother, Caroline, with the help of friends & family. Have some tissues handy, as the tears will come as you watch.
SAMI IS BUSILY whipping some eggs as Will comes into the
apartment, frantic, cause Lucas did not pick him up, or answer the
door at his apt, and wants to call 911, afraid maybe his dad is
drinking again. Sami calmly says Lucas is fine, as we see him come
out in just a towel, asking if breakfast is ready. Will gets a
"knowing look" on his face, tho they explain that Lucas's shower is
broken. They talk of Gramma Caroline, how much Will depended on her,
how she always took care of him when his mom or dad couldn't pick him
up, & how much he loved her. He gets upset and runs off to his
room. Sami is in tears over the loss of her grandmother, & Lucas
comforts her, telling her she is a good mother, that Will needs some
space, she is giving it to him. Sami thanks him for helping her, he
says he was returning the favor
.as last night he needed a
friend and she was there for him.
He asks her why she kept the secret about Kate's background from him,
that she could have used it any time she really wanted to hurt him.
Sami claims no one deserves to know their parents are not what they
thought. Lucas talks of being a kid & wishing his parents were
together, & Sami brings up how her parent's life was perfect til
John came along. They both talk of Will, realizing he thinks they had
sex, & probably thinks they will get together. Later, a dressed
Lucas & Sami call Will in, explaining to him that they did not
have sex, they are not going to be getting together, may probably
eventually marry other people. Will listens, but says you never know
what will happen, huh?
AT ST. LUKE'S, Roman is taking down the yellow police "crime scene" tape, as Marlena arrives. He is cleaning up the church, so services can be held again, and knows this is what his mother would want. He points out the hymnals his parents donated to the church, and one of the stained glass windows. He talks of what a good person his mother was, and beats himself up for not protecting her. He looks at the cross, saying .and where were you? But then says, yes, I know, you never promised anything. He goes to the hope chest, opening it, taking out a picture of Caroline his father wants to use for the obituary, & says he will take the chest home to his father. Marlena sees the chalice, & Roman says, yes, it is from their wedding. Caroline brought it when she thought Sami was going to marry Brandon (they sure mention him a lot lately, or is that my imagination?), & being Caroline, she always held hope eternal for their daughter, Sami. Roman talks of losing best friend, Abe, and how hard that was, but nothing like losing his mother. He sobs, as he goes on about being so alone ever since Marlena left him, but then apologizes, as he knows it was no one's fault, Marlena loved John more than she loved him. Marlena suggests going to breakfast. Roman picks up the chest, follows Marlena, but turns around, looking once more around the church and at the cross .and they leave.
JOHN IS RUSHING ALONG at the Salem Mall, and bumps into Kate. They small talk a bit, & Kate warns him about Sami. She moans & groans about being a suspect, that while only 1 person is guilty, the other 6 are looked upon with suspicion, even tho innocent. She sarcastically asks John to arrest her, as she is a serial murderess. She warns him that Sami intends to get Roman & Marlena back together, but John knows that could not happen. Kate talks of how Sami uses the memory of the sweet little girl she once was to manipulate her parents and John, but he doesn't see to buy it. John talks of Roman eventually forgiving Kate, but she says no, they are over, that he just cannot forget. They see Marlena & Roman hugging.
Roman & Marlena have arrived at the Java Café, & he talks of it being his & Kate's favorite coffee haunt. Marlena asks him if he can ever forgive Kate. He replies, that tho he could probably forgive her for sleeping with other men for money, he just cannot forgive that it was for Stefano. The son of a b**ch caused so much havoc & grief for him and all his family. That if it wasn't for Stefano, he & Marlena would still be together, and all their lives would be so different. She tells him to take care, as she hugs them. They see John, who comes up and gives Marlena a kiss. Roman leaves to go back to the station, with John saying he is going to come along. He leaves, too, stopping to say a few words to Kate. Roman had ignored her, but she tells him she hopes he catches the killer, & he says they will. They both leave, and Kate joins Marlena, who assures her she doesn't think Kate is the killer. Kate feels sorry for Roman, he seems so alone. Marlena replies that he is not alone "he has me" .then looks surprised at herself for saying that. Kate reminds her that she has a wonderful husband, & Marlena assures her she loves John, and only is reaching out to Roman as he is so alone. Kate says he could have her, but Marlena says the wound from learning of her liason with Stefano is too fresh. Kate replies that Stefano is dead, but will he ever stop reaching out from the grave to cause misery for them all. Marlena doubts that is possible.
BO AND HOPE ARE IN BED, with Bo having had a sleepless
night. He wants to get hold of Tek to see if the message to his PDA
was traced, when the phone rings. Bo angrily says, what the hell do
you want, as he then slams down the phone, cursing telemarketers.
Upset about his mother's death, he holds Hope close, telling her he
could never stand to lose her. The killer seems to be targeting the
Bradys. Tek calls, saying he has a lead on tracing the message to
Bo's PDA. Bo & Hope rush to the cop shop, where Tek tells them
the file was traced to a computer in the library, that it was
programmed in advance to be sent out at a certain time. They all
realize a lot of tech savvy was involved, and decide that Rex would
have that knowledge, that Kate, Lucas, Vic, Nicole, & Tony would
all have vast tech resources from their companies, leaving Sami, who
was able to hack into the hospital computer system 3 different times,
so has the knowledge, too. (GMAB here! & I do mean give me a
break!) So they are back at square one.
Tek leaves, and an officer brings a file to Bo. It is autopsy report
on Caroline. Hope takes it, opens it, and says the cause of death was
poisoning
..an overdose of diazepam. They realize she probably
had ingested it before she ever left home. Hope remembers that
Marlena prescribed those same pills for Maggie, and calls Mickey.
Maggie stopped taking them, fearing, as an alcoholic, she might
become addicted to them, & says they were kept in the kitchen,
but are gone now. Hope hangs up, as she & Bo both realize the
killer took the pills the night Maggie was murdered, meaning the plan
was already in place to kill Caroline. Bo's PDA goes off, and only
the killer sends him messages on it (then what does he have it for in
the lst place?) As the message comes in, Bo looks up, saying in
anguish, Oh, my God, NO!
and on the next
Days
.
Shawn tells Brady that he & Belle will be getting married some day, and nothing can stop that from happening .as a figure watches from the bushes.
Bonnie tells Mickey you don't want to be seeing Mrs. Horton's stuff in there, as Mickey shouts at her to get out.
Nicole tells Victor he cannot stop her from making Brady fall in love with her, as Victor tells her she is wrong .he has Chloe Lane
A very upset Bo yells to Hope that the killer was just a few feet away from him. Hope says he couldn't have known, but Bo cries in anguish ..I could have saved my mom!

Episode #9691
Tape date &endash; Various
Director &endash; Phil Sogard
Summary: A somewhat unsettling show, despite strong performances by the Brady clan Frank Parker (PopShawn), Peter Reckell (Bo), Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Jason Cook (Shawn YES, you read correctly) and Patsy Pease (Kimberly). I could have done without the antics of Bonnie Plus there is the return of an UNPOPULAR character from the past. Also, lots of talk of Chloe looks as if she will be used as a pawn in a cruel game.
At the Java Café
Bonnie meets Mimi there (I think she is working) and they argue. Mimi
finds a list of Maggie's belongings and realizes that her mom is
going to take them and sell them like she did with Jack's. She is
furious with her and tells her that the Hortons will catch her. But
Bonnie just calls her a worry wart, assuring her she has a plan. As
she leaves, she tells Mimi she will see her at the wake, but Mimi
calls her a vulture. She goes over to Mickey's and marvels at all the
food that was brought. She offers to make him a plate, but he isn't
hungry. She then offers to take it all to the homeless shelter. As he
walks off, she begins stuffing her face
as a devil appears on
one shoulder and an angel on the other offering her advice. (good
grief!) She yells at them to STOP and Mickey turns around asking what
she wants. She says they need to go upstairs and clean out Maggie's
things. Mickey blows his top and runs her off (good for him!).
At the Kirakis Mansion
Victor walks into the den to find Nicole boozing it up and he walks
over and swipes the liquor bottles in the floor. She is terrified of
him and if she had to stay with him, would rather be dead. He says
she is going to WISH she were dead. He hands her the divorce papers
and she says she is ready to sign and that $100 thousand dollars is
better than nothing. But he yanks them away, telling that WAS the
agreement, now she will get nothing. She asks how she will survive
and he quotes Clark Gable with "Frankly my dear
I don't give a
damn". They exchange snipes and insults as she tells him that when he
tried to choke her, she has it on film. Not batting an eyelash, he
goes and picks up the phone and calls the police station to report
her for murdering Colin Murphy. She reminds him that he helped cover
it up and if she goes down, so will he. He hangs up the phone as she
tells him he made the right choice. He says that he will NOT let her
hurt his grandson. She tells him that she is NOT leaving unless he
gives her $5 million. But Victor calls Nico and tells him to pack her
things
she will be leaving today. She threatens to turn Brady
against him, but Victor says there is no way she can. She says she
can make Brady fall in love with her. But Victor says she is
wrong
.he has a secret weapon
Chloe Lane
and he is
bringing her back to Salem.
At the Cop Shop
Bo gets a message on his PDA and it's a blurry image of Caroline
asking "How could you do this Bo
how could you let me die?" She
chastises him for letting her down and calls him a failure. She says
that she always knew that no good would come of him and hopes that he
is happy now. Hope tries to turn it off, but he pushes her away and
won't take his eyes off it. She keeps on berating him and tells him
that she is now in hell as she begins to burst into flames and
yelling as Hope keeps trying to get it away from him. She finally
vanishes as Bo stares at it in shock. Tek brings in a package that
just arrived for Bo and informs them that it has been xrayed. Both
with gloves on, they open the package to find a loaf of Caroline's
bread. There is also a note on Caroline's personal stationary. Hope
reads the note. It says "Dear Bo
as I write this note, I am the
Brady Pub sitting at the bar
I just told your mother (Hope
pauses and then continues as they realize it is from the killer). As
she reads it, we see the scene play out from the killer's point of
view. Caroline is smiling at the killer as they ask for something to
jot something down (we do NOT hear the voices in the scene, only
Hope's reading the letter). She gives them stationary as she explains
about just baking a loaf of bread for Bo. Bo comes bustling in for
coffee, then rushes out, without giving her a chance to give him the
bread. She then offers the bread to the killer. As Hope finishes the
note, she says "this is the last loaf of bread your mother
baked
enjoy it." Bo becomes furious, realizing that he was only
a few feet away from the killer. Hope tries to get him to remember
who was there that day, but he can't and blames himself.
At the Pub
The pub is dark and closed as ShawnD looks at a collage of pictures
behind the bar of his grandmother. Brady walks up and says he was an
amazing woman. Over coffee, they talk about her and Brady says she
was always like a grandmother to him as well. As they sit and talk ,
there is someone lurking, watching from outside. Shawn talks about
how proud he is of his family and what a rock she always was for
everyone. He sees his childhood teddy bear in the window and goes to
get it, wondering how it got there. He gets a call from Belle (we
don't see her and they talk). Brady calls Nicole's cell phone, but
hangs up, without leaving a message. He tells Belle about the bear
and she makes a suggestion and he goes upstairs. Mimi comes by
looking for Shawn and outside, Bo and Hope arrive
Bo NOT wanting
to be there.
Earlier, popShawn is upstairs (where Caroline's casket is) as he talks to her, saying his final goodbyes. (Get out your hankies). This is so sad as he asks how can he go without her. Someone walks up behind him and he turns and says "Kimmy" as they hug and cry together. She assures him that Mom will always be there with him. Shawn is so happy to see her and she only wishes she could have been there sooner. She promises to help him through this and talks about how blessed they all are for having had her in their lives. Alice comes by and speaks to Caroline as well, telling her what a good friend she was. She says that she wasn't the first and fears she won't be the last. With teary eyes, she asks "When will the streets of Salem be safe again when will we ALL be safe again?" Later Hope tells Alice that she is so worried about Bo Alice tells her that he will never have peace until he lets go of his anger.
ShawnD goes to visit with his grandmother and puts the teddy bear in the casket with her and kneels beside her. He cries as he says he knows where she is and that she is safe now. He says that he loves her and he always will and kisses her. Downstairs, Bo and Hope come in to be greeted by "Kimber" and they all hug. She tells them that 'pop' is having a hard time as Bo blames himself. Sensing Bo's anger, Kim asks Hope if she can speak to Bo alone and Hope goes on upstairs. They sit as Kim cries, telling him that Mama was a good woman and is in heaven now and for him not to forget the things she taught them, especially forgiveness. He scoffs at her "Sunday School" talk, saying he could NEVER forgive that bastard that killed their mother in cold blood. She tells him that he must let go of the anger but he says he can't and wants that SOB to suffer as much as or more than his family and even that would never be enough. He grabs his jacket and storms upstairs, leaving Kimberly crying.
Later, Brady and Shawn talk down in the pub again. Shawn asks about Chloe as Brady says that he hasn't talked to her lately. Shawn suggests that it is time he move on (as Brady has flashbacks of him and Nicole). But Brady says that he would need to talk to Chloe first. Shawn recalls how he tried to help someone without talking to Belle about it and the problems it caused (any guesses who he is talking about?) You got it we see a shot outside the pub as the lurker is none other than the ever-popular Jan Spears. She is on the phone and saying that she is back in Salem and planning on staying this time she has some important things to take care of.
As Bo is by his mother's casket, Hope tells the others that she is so worried about him. Bonnie arrives and is met by Mimi at the door. As they argue, Bonnie tells her that she thinks Mickey is on to her. Mickey sees her and comes over, shaking a finger at her, telling her that they need to talk. Bo talks to Caroline, saying that he will never forgive himself for failing her and that when he catches the bastard that did this, he won't wait on the law, he will send them straight to hell as the previews roll

Kim is asking "Roman, what is it?" as they turn and see Marlena grabbing her neck (apparently choking) and falling to the floor. Kim says "Oh my God!" and then screams "NOOOOO!"

Summary: As family, friends and acquaintances gather at the pub to pay their respects to Caroline, Jan Spears visits Marlena asking for her professional services. Bonnie targets Mickey as a potential sugar daddy while Caroline chats with Celeste (eerie).
MARLENA'S OFFICE
Jan visit's Marlena's office, asking for her help, professionally.
Marlena recognizes her and not happy at her return. Marlena offers to
send her to another psychologist, but Jan pleads otherwise. She tells
Marlena that she and Belle were both in Milan at the same time and
Belle called out to her, but she was afraid to respond. She realized
she missed Salem and decided to return. We return to find that Jan's
parents are both dead now. Her mother took her to Europe and her
father followed. They had been divorced, but what happened to Jan
bonded them and they fell in love all over again. They were killed in
an avalanche when they went skiing and their bodies never found.
Salem is the only place that felt like home and she asks for
Marlena's help. She wants to make amends. Her parents were wealthy
and a big insurance policy, she can afford to pay her. Marlena's
reluctant, but finally agrees. Jan hugs Marlena and asks her to not
tell anyone about her return until she's had some help. Marlena says
okay and everything they say is confidential.
KIRIAKIS MANSION
Nicole is shocked Victor would bring Chloe back, but he tells her
she's a soulless, murdering, whore and he doesn't want her claws into
his grandson. She antagonizes him, promising she WILL get Brady and
get RID of him (Victor). He scoffs at that, threatening to report to
the police that she killed Colin (here we go again)...she looks
fearful (why, just tell him you'll report his help in covering it up
AGAIN), but he tells her the obvious solution is sometimes the best
and starts to strangle her. She breaks away, falling on the floor. He
leaves to go pay his respects to Caroline and warns her to stay clear
of there. She reminds him they're both suspects, but he knows people
wouldn't believe he'd kill Caroline. She tells him it's his MO to
kill women that don't want him (it is?) and sobs by the mantle after
he leaves (sorry, no sympathy from me Nicole). Later she fantasizes
about cooling herself off with an ice cube and puts it in her mouth.
She kisses Brady and he takes the ice cube out of his own mouth (for
those that don't know, they ARE married in real life) and continues
cooling her. They rip the tops of each other and fall on the couch.
Back to reality, she figures once Brady's had her, she'll have him.
She goes back into her fantasy, telling Brady he can't have her until
he kills Victor.
AT THE PUB
Brady and Shawn continue their trip down memory lane about Jan
Spears. Brady recalls the circumstances of Shawn's helping Jan and he
calls him an overprotective big brother, aka, royal pain in the ass.
Shawn tells him Jan's gone from Salem and it's over. Brady continues
talking about her, infuriating Shawn (kinda tacky on the day of his
grandmother's wake to cause him any more grief I think). Brady
explains living in the same house with Nicole, whose father raped Jan
and got her pregnant, has made him think more about her recently.
Brady figures Jan was just misguided, but can't understand how Shawn
let her live in the Brady home. Shawn asks to put it to rest, he was
just trying to help her, period. Later we come back to our Jan
history lesson (being she's returned for those who can't remember),
Brady figures Shawn had feelings for Jan. Shawn insists he loves
Belle, but Brady persists. Mimi walks by and hears Jan's name and
joins the conversation, no way believing that Jan may have changed.
Shawn and Mimi head upstairs. Victor walks in and Brady asks where
Nicole is.
Upstairs Kim tells Pop that Kayla just called and is on her way (hopefully we'll see her too). Roman tells him Bo and Hope will be back later too. Poor Pop never though the last time his family was together was to bury Caroline, sniff.
In the hall, Mickey starts to talk to Bonnie about what she did with Jack's clothes when Mimi interrupts. She pulls Bonnie aside and warns her mother that she lied and cheated to a Horton and is going to jail. She begs Mimi's help as Mickey returns, anxious to finish their conversation. He apologizes for ordering her out of the house and after some thought, realizes giving her clothes to charity is what Maggie would have wanted. Both Mimi and Bonnie's mouths drop. Saying it's the Horton tradition to give to others, he tells Bonnie to stop by anytime to collect Maggie's clothes. He leaves to see Alice and Mimi warns her mother to give them to charity this time. Bonnie's response..charity begins at home.
Alice and Celeste sit in front of Caroline's casket sharing memories of their friend. Alice said her friend was gracious to all that knew her. Celeste, today a blonde wearing a very low cut..but black...dress (c'mon, she's about to pop out of it..not very respectful for a wake, funeral, whatever), shares how she'd known Caroline for a long time and she was one of the few people that called her by her real name, Frankie, saying Caroline made anyone she talked to feel important. Celeste feels that the worst is about to come. We see Caroline's hands, wrapped with a rosary, move. Mickey asks Alice and Celeste if they want to pay their respects and Celeste gives him her chair. To herself, she feels Caroline's soul is in great pain.
Pop Shawn gathers everyone in a circle. He introduces his friend, a tenor, to sing Caroline's favorite song, Danny Boy. Celeste looks down to see Caroline (yes, Caroline) singing along and agreeing that is her favorite song) Too wierd. After the song is over, Caroline says hello to Frankie and when Celeste asks, tells her no one else can hear her. Roman touches Celeste's arm and she jumps. He asks how Lexie is doing and she tells him focusing her attention on Theo. (me thinks Roman was having a hard time staring into Celeste's face)
Later Bonnie looks down at Caroline and tells her she missed out by not changing the pub into a country western place and letting her sing there. Telling herself she just needs a backer she sees Mickey sitting there alone (what's up with the people there...the poor man just lost HIS wife too). She dreams of her singing a Patsy Cline song (Lonesome Me) dressed in a low cut country dress and hat and sitting on the bar with men oogling her. Mickey is dressed in a white and gold country suit and fumbling over words of praise to her, gives her flowers and says he's glad he sold Tuscany to buy this place for her (that'll be the day). She pulls his head into her bosom.
Father Jansen speaks and Celeste feels something bads about to happen. Bonnie longingly looks at Mickey, standing alone, wanting to help him more (run Mickey, run). She joins Mickey and he welcomes some company (told ya so). Later we return to see Marlena there. She asks Shawn if he's heard from Belle, remembering her conversation with Jan earlier. Victor apologizes to Shawn that he couldn't protect Caroline more. Shawn knows that Caroline was dying on the way to church. Victor steps over to say goodbye to Caroline and Celeste stops him as he reaches down to touch her hand. He asks for a moment alone and she steps back, watching. Victor touches Caroline's hand and says "goodbye my love". He sees Nicole enter and they bicker about him bringing Chloe back and why she's there. He suggests she leave before embarrassing them both and she does. He tells Brady, who's asking if everything's okay, to choose a woman deserving of his love when he marries. Shawn leaves to go home for a while (Jan's lurking out front and sees him leave, saying it's not the right time to let him know she's back, but soon...with her Jan smirk on her face..ugh).
Brady sees Nicole at the bar and chats with her. She pretends to start crying, saying she'd be better off dead now and holds her in his arms to comfort her. She exchanges glances with Victor as he walked in behind Brady.
Bonnie tells Mickey to go home and get some rest and come back later. He agrees and she helps him out. She offers to just call if he needs her help.
Celeste goes to the casket again and Caroline tells her she's glad she's back. She tells her that it's not over and no one is safe. Kim gets nervous when she sees Roman now has a PDA. It has a red skull flashing and says READY OR NOT, HERE I COME AGAIN. Roman asks where, when..and the PDA is psychic, cause it tells him..Right here, right now..as Marlena grabs her throat and collapses....
as the previews for the next Days of Our Lives roll...
Lexie says Marlena's heart beat is erratic..it doesn't look good...(doesn't look like a hospital bed, but maybe one at the pub). Marlena starts shaking and Lexie says she's having a seizure....
At the pub, Pop Shawn yells murderers as the Dimera's arrive...he grabs his heart and Bo and Kim help him...
Sami is at Marlena's bedside as Roman is sitting with Marlena. Sami tells Kate and John that her parents belong together and if they won't stay out of their way, she will...
Bo asks Rex if he knows who the next victim is and Rex said he does as Hope walks behind Bo with the camera following her....
