Show # 9523
Tape Date: 3/2/03
Director: Herb Stein
Cassie pays for her evening of fun, Bo is on a mission and Hope
is determined to help, Brady and Victor have a nice grandfather/grandson
visit.
Hartley House
Rex and Shawn are playing video games as Mimi arrives with coffee
and heads upstairs. Upstairs Cassie is covered up head over heals
in the bed moaning and groaning as Belle is tempted to pour water
on her. Mimi comes in whispering as Cassie stirs and asks her not
to talk so loud. Belle jostles her up as she calls for water.
Belle hands her water to Mimi who dumps it on her. She says she
feels like she is dying and needs a doctor. Belle tries to call
Marlena (to teach Cassie a lesson), but can't reach her so she
offers aspirin and water. Belle says if she does this again, she
is NOT taking care of her. Mimi and Belle begin to lecture her as
Cassie asks if they are talking about sex and that she knows more
than they do. Belle tosses her the bottle of aspirin and a bottle
of water and they leave for class, wishing her a nice day. (LOL)Downstairs,
Shawn asks Rex about breakfast and he launches into this tirade
about being bored with college and wants to get out there and
experience life. He rants about how people pretend to be your
friends and then stab you in the back and you can't trust anyone.
He says the golden rule should read "Do unto other before
they do unto you". Shawn points out that he sounds like Tony
DiMera. Rex defends Tony, saying he is the only one who has been
consistent with them since being in Salem. Hope and Zack arrive
to see Shawn (after leaving the Cop Shop, see below). She hugs
and kisses on him (embarrassing him a bit). Everyone oohs and
aahs Zack as Hope and Shawn catch up. She is disturbed about the
gang shooting and the kid dying and just wanted to make sure he
was okay. They chat a while and she and Zack leave.Belle and Mimi
come down for class. She wants to stop on the way so she and Rex
go ahead, leaving Belle and Shawn to cuddle on the sofa. Outside,
they run into Chas, who is looking for Cassie. He and another
punk (Vinnie?) invite them to a party, but Mimi turns them down
flatly. After they are gone, Rex is upset because he wanted to go
and experience life. Chas goes up to Cassie's room to see her.
When he sees she is hung over, he offers her a taste of the dog
that bit her and pulls out a flask.
At The Hospital
Victor arrives looking for Brady. In Chloe's room, Isabella
appears to offer Brady support (who is keeping vigil by a
sleeping Chloe). She sees the butterfly he bought and talks about
how fragile they are. She reflects about when she was a little
girl and trying to help a butterfly from it's cocoon and it dying.
She said that Victor explained it to her that sometimes things
need to struggle to survive and live on their own. Victor walks
in and says "Isabella?" Brady thinks he can see her,
but he explains that seeing Chloe lying there brought back
memories of his daughter. He has flashbacks of Isabella's wedding
day (giving her mother's pearls) and then of her telling him she
has cancer (I had never seen these before). He says that he can
feel her presence there. Isabella assures Brady that Victor
cannot see/hear her. Victor apologizes for the way he treated
Brady earlier and asks how Chloe is. Brady gives him an update
and Victor asks if there is anything he can do. Victor talks more
about Isabella and says that they can keep her alive through
their memories. Brady says he can't help but look at Chloe and
think how his mother fought the same battle. Victor says he is so
proud of him. Isabella speaks, saying that she feels that Victor
has changed and would hate to see him fall back to his old ways
but she has faith in him. Brady translates it for her, telling
Victor that Isabella loved him. Brady urges Victor to let go of
the bitterness and anger, that's what Isabella would want. Victor
talks about when she died and the last time he saw her. He wishes
he could hear her voice once again. Brady says he can always talk
to him. As Victor goes to leave, he tells Brady that his mother
lives in them. Isabella thanks Brady then she vanishes. He sits
by Chloe and she wakes up, telling him that she had a wonderful
dream. She, too apologizes for being so harsh with him before. In
the hallway, Nico rushes up, telling Victor that Tony DiMera
wants to meet with him, NOW.
At The Cop Shop
Hope arrives with Zack to see Bo. He is on the phone with the
parents of Ben (the boy who died) and vowing to catch the ones
who did it. He is glad to see Hope and holds Zack tight. They
talk about Ben dying and how the shooter was set free. Hope tries
to convince him it wasn't his fault, but Bo is beating himself up
over it. He talks about something being wrong with the system and
the victims having no rights. He is very passionate and questions
his own effectiveness and considers quitting the force. Hope
gives him support and then leaves to visit with Shawn.Later, Bo
drags some kid into the station (Tommy) for info. It seems that
he is going to be an informant for them. Tommy tells him about
there being someone powerful out there and if you are down with
him, he can hook you up with what you need. Bo demands to know
who, but Tommy claims he doesn't know. Bo wants him to find out
and Tommy finally agrees, but only if Bo makes it look like he
isn't volunteering info. He wants Bo to rough him up, so he
obliges as he drags him through the station. Hope arrives back in
time to see this and they talk about the "Mr. Big" as
Bo vows to find out who it is. He asks her to keep it quiet and
she asks what she can do. He only wants her to stay safe. She
tells him she doesn't want him to fight it alone. As she leaves,
she thinks that she will help him. She calls Doug and asks him
and Julie to watch Zack for her for a while. Bo gets an urgent
call and asks "how big?" He tells the other party to
get down there NOW! fade to black.

Salem University Hospital
Eugenia taunts Sami, saying theres a pool on at the hospital as
to how long before she and Brandon will break up. She enjoys
Samis discomfort as she watches Lexie and Brandon together
talking, figuring hell find out HES the babys father, not
Commander Carver. Her guess is Sami and Brandon will break up
before sundown.
Lexie arrives at the hospital and Brandon asks if theres a
problem. She tells him yes, him. They go out on the terrace to
talk privately. She tells him hes obsessed with her and her baby.
She doesnt believe his crap about helping a poor woman without a
partner in her class and is on to him. She had the paternity test
and Abes the father. She wants him to leave her and Abe alone.
Not realizing she was better off staying out of this
conversation, Sami walks out and accuses Lexie of stalking
Brandon. Lexie tells Brandon theyll finish their discussion at a
different time, but tells Sami she might try to keep her man more
satisfied. Insulted, Sami asks for an explanation and Lexie tells
her about his being a coach for another woman in her Lamaz class.
Sami is shocked. Lexie demands Sami keep Brandon busy at home or
shell lose him. Lexie leaves. Sami realizes hes after Lexie, not
the reverse. Shes not buying his helping a single mother bit and
wants to know why he's so determined to be involved in Lexie and
Abes life. Brandon manages to turn the situation around if Sami
has doubts about if hes the father of Lexies baby. Sami tells him
shes sick of the whole situation with Lexie and wants him to just
stay away from her (Lexie). He says he cant. She rants and he
doesnt understand why. She finally admits feeling threatened. She
loves him so much and doesnt know what shed do without him. He
pulls her over into a hug, saying he loves her. Shes the only one
he wants to go to sleep with and wake up with. Crying, she asks
if Lexies wrong. Is she woman enough for him? (Is this getting
old to anyone besides me... yawn)
Back at her desk, Sami remembers her argument with Brandon at the
Blue Note the night before. She spots Lexie get off the elevator
and talking to Brandon. We hear her telling Brandon that shell
save him the trouble and her visit went fine and she wants him to
leave her alone. Abe is all she needs. Eugenia (or Genie as Sami
calls her), enjoys taunting Sami about Brandon being the babys
father. Lexie comes over and demands to talk with Eugenia. Lexie
just wants to thank her for all her good work, especially when
others just sit around filing their nails (looking at Sami) and
talking on the phone. Samis not phased by it and after Lexie goes
to the pay phone, reminds Eugenia about what she has on her and
to keep quiet before looking to see Brandon standing in the hall,
staring at Lexie talking on the pay phone.
Victor & Tony
Victor visits Tony, apparently he was summoned there. Tony
dismisses Bart and Victor Nico. Before getting down to business,
Tony suggests a game of pool to lighten the mood. Victor agrees,
but warns him he takes all games seriously. Later we rejoin them
as Victors pool talents impress Tony, who asks if hes getting set
up. He tells Tony hes a nice boy whos gotten in with some bad
company. He asks if Victors seen The Hustler and Victor
acknowledges its his favorite film. Tonys pool skills impress
Victor as well. Victor tells Tony hes better at business then
pool as he wins the game. Tony offers him cognac and a cigar. The
two sit to sip and puff, enjoying the break after a trying week.
Victor mentions Bos problem with gang violence whom he associates
being led by some underworld kingpin. He asks Tony if he knows
anything about that as he lights up. Tony tells him its beneath
his radar, but will share any intelligence he finds on the matter
if he hears anything. Victor asks what Tony wants. He backed off
his vendetta against Larry Welch and he owes him, what is it?
Tony hands him a note with what he wants. Victor looks at it and
says there's no way in hell. Tony insists that Victor must do
whatever it is as his honors at stake. They play another game of
pool as Victor asks Tony if he believes in the dead talking to
the living. He tells him about what happened at the hospital and
felt that his late daughter was talking to him. She always
thought him a better man then he was. Tony tells him he (Tony) is
reformed now that hes a father. He knows exactly what he wants
and how to get it. Bart and Nico interrupt to see if theyre
needed. Theyre not and dismissed. As Victor and Tony chat about
passing on the sins of the father to their children, Tony takes a
key opportunity to chide Victor about his son being in law
enforcement. Victor misses his shot and loses their wager because
of it as Tony wins the game. Tony has the paperwork all ready,
just needs Victor's signature.
The Spectator
Jennifer proofs a copy of the paper, but finds an ad was printed
way too small. Harold agrees and will have it changed. Cute as he
asks what else she needs and she tells him a one way ticket to
Hawaii for her. He notes to call transportation before she tells
him shes just kidding. As he leaves, Hope walks in with mochas
and lunch as a surprise to Jen. Shes proud and jealous of what
Jens accomplishing in her life and feels like shes got more to
contribute then just being a mom, saying Zack's almost preschool
age. Jen suggests Hope freelance for her as they've got a mystery
to solve. Later the gals are eating lunch at Jens desk as she
briefs Hope about Carson Palmers spending habits and choice of
dates. Jack thought she looked familiar, but couldn't place her.
She tells Hope about unsuccessfully trying to get his date's
wallet. Hope suggests they look up old pictures of Carson Palmer
in the paper to see if the same woman is with him. The cousins
roll over to the database for a look see. They find out that
Palmer was a boy wonder. They find a picture of the woman at the
restaurant and Hope (who appears mighty handy with the computer)
enlarges the woman's face and saves it to floppy. Theyre going to
take it to the police station for Bo to trace. The cousins high 5!
(fun stuff!)
Cop Shop
Jack asks Bo to speak privately. They use Abes office (naturally).
The two agree to work together on this current drug problem in
Salem, shaking hands to seal the deal. Bo wonders how cases are
getting thrown out so quickly, thinking its an inside job. Jack
tells him his theory is the persons in the DAs office. Carson
Palmer comes to Bos mind immediately. He asks Jack what hes found
out. Jack tells him not only the way hes handled recent cases,
but about the press conference the other day. He rechecked the
numbers Carson Palmer cited and they weren't just fuzzy, they
were distortedespecially the ones about street crime. Bo asks how
he means to prove it and Jack tell him thats where Bo comes in.
Bo tells him Palmers out for both his and Roman's neck, it's just
a matter of time before he buries them. On cue, Palmer walks into
their closed door office, and asks if theres something they want
to tell him. Palmer says this is on the record and intends to
process the responsible person for the drive by shooting of Ben
Wells. Jack and Bo are both amazed as Jack tells Palmer about his
incorrect math from the press conference and ones about street
crime. Jack threatens a headline about it, but Palmer turns it
around to that being the Brady Boys and Salem PDs problem. Bo
asks him to get the hell out of his station if hes done. Palmer
calls him on that phrase, spouts his mantra about getting the
Bradys if they even jaywalk and stomps out. Hope and Jen arrive
in his wake and show them the floppy disk with something that
might help their cause. Bo brings up the womans face and the four
of them watch the monitor as he cross references it. They're all
surprised at what they find out. Maria's mug shot is on the
screen and she's got a rap sheet a mile long. Jack said Carson
Palmers sleeping with the enemy. The foursome all have a print
out of the information they need as Jack and Jen head out. Alone
with Bo, Hopes excited about being back..strong and happy. She
feels like she's contributing again. Bo's happy for her, but you
can see hes worried as well. He tells her he is determined never
to lose her again (talk to John about that homing device Bo).
FRIDAY, MARCH 28, 2003
Marlena gives John the cold shoulder and finally
reveals she's upset because he planted the electronic bug. She
reminds him that their marriage is based on trust and questions
him about the device but he won't answer. The two end up arguing
about Tony's desire for Marlena with Marlena reminding John of
how he took Kristen from Tony. Belle's upset when Cassie admits
that her hangover was cured with help from Chaz and his special
drink that included a shot of whiskey. When Cassie boasts about
going to a party at Vin's tonight with Chaz, Belle urges her to
reconsider but Cassie won't hear it. A professor at the
university approaches Rex for help with a math problem his
graduate students are unable to crack. Rex agrees to look it over
and offers to solve it if he and his other teachers will help him
graduate early. When the professor okays the plan, Rex solves the
problem, causing the professor to offer him a job once he's done
with school. Rex turns the offer down and hints that he's already
got an experiment in mind that will need his attention. Upstairs,
Belle argues with Cassie. Mimi joins the argument and then Chaz
who chooses to stay out of the verbal battle, eventually
escorting Cassie out. When Rex is unable to convince Cassie to
back off from Chaz, he returns to Belle with his news and she
announces she's done worrying about Cassie. Later, when Cassie's
caught with a beer at the house, she's threatened with expulsion.
Jack and Jennifer confront Carson in his office about Marie, the
known felon he's been dating. The two sneak back into Carson's
office and, using the redial button on his phone, get a lead on a
"gentleman's" club named Clue Echelon.
At The Penthouse
Marlena comes downstairs, adjusting an earring in silence. John
remarks that she came to bed in silence, and has been cold and
distant all day. Marlena responds that she does not like being
treated like a criminal, and is obviously angry about the bug
John put in her purse. The phone rings, it is Belle, but Marlena
cuts her short, telling her it is not a good time, and to handle
it herself. (see below) and hangs up. John explains about
protecting his family, but Marlena will have none of it. She
tells him he is irrational, (not in this case, Marlena!) and he
says if that is what she thinks, he has nothing more to say. She
questions him about where he got the bug, what other little
tricks has he acquired, but he is now silent. She talks of their
relationship always being based on trust, and what has happened
to them? (Does the phrase Defamation of Character ring a bell?)
John says he must protect his family, no matter what, but Marlena
will not put up with it. John asks why not, unless you have
something to hide. They argue about Tony, with Marlena pointing
out that John is afraid Tony will take Marlena away from him,
like he took Kristen from Tony (hmmm, when did that happen? I
thought Kristen chased John! I keep remembering that pregnancy
pillow, lol). John argues back, pointing out Tonys motives.
Marlena decides to go for a walk, picks up her coat, and begins
checking all the pockets, telling John she is looking for a
tracking device. She leaves.
Hartley House
Mimi & Rex are talking math problems, with Rex offering to
help her, but Mimi could never concentrate, while looking into
Rex's beautiful eyes. (Love that Meems!). She tells him she could
see into his soul thru them, but he does not believe in something
he cannot see. Chas comes downstairs, and they both wonder what
he is doing there, he claims helping a friend. Upstairs Belle
finds Cassie doing exercises, and is surprised she is feeling so
well. Cassie brags about the Prairie Oyster Chas gave her,
containing a raw egg and Worcestershire sauce that seemed to do
the trick. Adds that a couple shots of whiskey helped, too. Belle
gets upset that she was drinking again, after being so sick, but
Cassie shrugs it off, and talks about her boyfriend, Chas, the
party they are going to that nite, being thrown by Vin, and
refuses to listen to Belle. She tries to call Marlena, but is
told to just handle it herself, that it was not a good time. (Never
a good time lately for Marlena to listen to Belle) Downstairs,
Professor Bahlah overhears Rex & Mimi talking about drinking,
and tells them he hopes they know Hartley House has a zero
tolerance policy for drinking, and you could be expelled from the
house for doing so. They assure him they were talking of an off
campus party they have no intention of attending. The professor
asks for some help from Rex, as Mimi goes to find Belle. He shows
Rex a math problem the PHD candidates in his department cannot
seem to solve, and a lot of grant money is riding on it. Rex
agrees to take a crack at it, but only if the Professor promises
to give him all the tests he needs to graduate early, and get his
other teachers to do the same. Since so much prestige and money
is riding on it..the professor agrees, and Rex solves it in what
seems to be a matter of minutes. Bahlah thanks him, making a joke
about his humor needing work, but his math talents are
otherworldly. Rex gets ticked off, saying he is not an alien, etc.,
but is assured it was a joke, and see, his sense of humor does
need work. He offers Rex a job after his early graduation, but
Rex, with an eerie, serious look on his face, says he has an
experimental research project he wants to work on first. He
refuses to say what it is, only that it is top secret, and people
will be blown away. (oooooooohhhhh, yuk!)
Upstairs, Belle & Cassie argue about John, with Cassie
remarking that John never liked the twins to begin with. Then
they argue about Belle herself. Belle has a flashback to learning
about the twins relationship to the Black family, and Mimi comes
in. Cassie leaves for a shower, and Belle talks of Cassie ruining
tonite. Mimi is quick to guess it involves Shawn and sex. Cassie
comes back in, more arguing about being sisters, partying,
drinking, Chas being bad news, etc. Rex has arrived, too, but
mostly listens. Cassie refuses to listen to reason, flounces off,
with Rex following. She argues with Rex, telling him they may be
twins, but she wants to find herself (jeez, this conversation is
sooooo lame) and discover who she is, apart from his twin.
Meanwhile, Belle is having several flashbacks to various
arguments she has had with Cassie over Shawn. Rex comes in,
saying he made no headway with Cassie, and what are they going to
do. Belle says she is thru worrying about her, she is staying out
of Cassies life. Downstairs, Cassie asks another student where
Chas is, but the gal has not seen him. She inquires how Cassie is
feeling, learning Cassie has had a bit of the hair of the dog.
She tells Cassie she has more if she wants, pulling a cold can of
beer from her purse. (a COLD can???) Cassie greatfully thanks
her, the gal leaves, Cassie pulls the pop top just as Professor
Bahlah comes along looking for Rex. He realizes Cassie is hiding
something behind her back, Cassie drops the opened can, he see
it, mentions the zero tolerance policy, and says he will have to
report her. She says she can explain. (Hmm, can Daddy Tony get
her out of this one?)
Heart To Heart
Just a salute to a cool, loving, detective couple (Hart to Harts
Jennifer & Jonathan) as our Jack & Jennifer arrive at
Carson Palmers officepretending to be exterminators, telling
Carsons secretary the place is overrun with mice. She has never
seen one, so Jack promptly holds up a white one by the tail, the
gal screams and runs out. Jennifer smiles, as she opens her
purse, into which Jack deposits his little friend. (Kudos to
Melissa, I would have been screaming away, too). Inside his
office, Carson is telling someone that Bo Brady & Jack
Deveraux are getting too close, when J&J burst in. Palmer is
angry, but Jack and Jen proceed to pepper him with questions
about the woman he was with. (They talk in tandem, finishing each
others sentences.really fun scenes). Palmer tries to say he
picked her up at the bar, but Jack & Jen know that is a lie,
tell him her name, and that he has prosecuted her in the past. He
then says he was just picking up an attractive woman, but later
recalled prosecuting her, so that was the end of it. He tells
them to leave, and they do so, promising to be back for the truth.
Carson calls Marie (the woman) to warn her, then leaves, but not
before giving secretary Carol some explicit instructions. (we
dont hear what they are). He leaves, Jack & Jen are hiding
around a corner, and try to sneak back in.but are stopped by
Carol, who is on to them now. She tells them she knows they are
Jennifer Horton and Jack Deveraux, two reporters at the TOP of
Palmers BLACKLIST!
Jack & Jen return to the Spectator, excited to know they are
on the Blacklist, as they have to be getting close. Harold comes
in, bringing a dossier on Palmer, which reveals more goodies.
Seems he is excellent at raising campaign money, but doesnt list
where it all came from. They leave to shed more light on the
situation, taking a couple of pencil flashlights along. Back to
Palmers office, where now they get stopped by a guard. Jack
claims to be a process server who was unable to deliver a
summons, and wanted to leave a note (that guy sure thinks fast on
his feet, lol), but the guard says call and leave a voice mail
message. Jack pretends to leave, gets joined by Jen, who pulls
off her brooch, and picks the locks on both doors. They get into
Palmers office, where Jen gets the bright idea to hit the redial
on the phone to see who Palmer may have called after they left. A
sexy voice answers Club Echelon. Jen quickly hangs up, Jack says
that is a Gentlemens Club..and Jen wants to know how he knows
that. LOL. Jack is off to the club, telling Jen to go home to
Abbie, he will see her later. Jen wishes him no luck with the
ladies, but he says she is the only lady he wants to get lucky
with. (Awwwwwww!). They kiss, kiss, and he tells her they have
all the luck in the world, as he leaves. Jennifer, alone, tells
him to be careful.
