Summary:
It's already the 4th of July in Salem as everyone prepares for the Horton-Brady barbecue. John finds
a clue at the DiMansion as Tony realizes it's gone. And Nicole puts her latest scheme into action.

At dotCom...
Jack and Jennifer meet up and she is excited as she checks all the other papers. No one else has the story of Tony/Stefano
and she is thrilled that they scooped everyone...even the Intruder. She wants to cover the meteor shower as well and maybe
scoop them all again. They talk about the Horton-Brady picnic and she worries that perhaps Tony may try something. They
decide to both go home and change and will meet later.

Victor and Philip also arrive at dotCom, but Philip flatly refuses to work there (to repay the damages for the broken window).
He is more concerned about Chloe and vows to stick by her. Victor threatens to cancel the check he made to Columbia, but
Philip doesn't care. He says he will get a loan or just won't go...Chloe is THAT important to him and he can't let her down.
Victor realizes that Philip actually loves Chloe THAT much. Philip pleads his case and Victor buckles, telling him he will talk
to the manager and pay off the debt. Victor asks about how Chloe is doing as Philip fills him in about her needing a transplant.
Victor tells him if there is anything he can do, just let him know. From across the room, Nicole has been watching them as she
has flashbacks of her last run-in with Victor (over Colin). She says that Victor had better be careful what he wishes for...he
just may get it.

Philip joins Mimi and Kevin (who are also there). They had been talking about the Gemini meteor shower. Kevin is really
excited about it, but Mimi doesn't really seem that interested. He gives them an update on Chloe, with both of them telling him
that they are being tested as well. As they talk, Philip spots Cynthia come in and isn't too thrilled. She strolls over as Philip
demands to know what she wants. Mimi joins in with him as they slam Cynthia for her behavior at the Last Blast. She tells
Philip she is sorry about Chloe and seems sincere as she offers her help, wanting to be tested as well. Philip thanks her as she
says she may be a bitch....but bitches have hearts too.

Jack rushes over to Victor, wanting to know what he has learned about Colin, but Victor offers no info, saying that Dr. Colin
Murphy is of no interest to him and walks off. But Jack is determined. Meanwhile, Nicole has confronted Jennifer, telling her
that Colin broke up with her...was it HER doing? Jennifer says she has nothing to do with Colin, but Nicole runs her smart
mouth, saying something about Jenn taking everyone else's cast-offs. Then she throws off on Jack, with him hearing it. She then
strolls off to join Victor as Jack and Jenn leave. Nicole wants Victor to go with her somewhere, but won't tell him where...it's
a surprise. Later, near the end of the show, they are on a hill somewhere overlooking Salem. He has a picnic planned and
says they can watch the fireworks, the meteor shower and then...who knows? She sends Victor back to the car to get the
picnic supplies, and ponders just what a long way it is down there...and smiles a wicked smile.

At the Penthouse...
Marlena is asleep on the sofa, having dreams of John the night before. She wakes up startled. Caprice comes down and
questions her as to what is wrong as Marlena explains what John is up to (is that wise?) Caprice slips and almost says
something (is she connected to the DiMeras somehow?) but she covers and assures Marlena that John is safe. But Marlena
has a bad feeling about all this. Caprice shows her the paper (the story about the meteor showers) and tells her that there is
something BIG happening. She gets a call from John a few minutes later, telling her to meet him at the police station.

Over at DiMansion...
Even though it is daylight, John is still searching the house (keep your eyes open for a RARE exterior glimpse of the
mansion...how spooky it looks). He is going through the drawers of the den (finds one with a fake bottom) as Tony heads
down the stairs and John hears him. Tony hears something in the den and investigates, but John gets away (this is where he
calls Marlena). Tony heads straight for the drawer and starts searching, finding an empty blue box and is furious, saying this
could ruin everything. He summons Bart and calls him incompetent and stupid. He wants to know just WHAT it is that Bart
does around there. Bart talks about Stefano being gone and babbles on and on as Tony tells him to shut up and listen. He tells
him about the break-in and is furious with him. Tony demands to know what happened or he will be terminated. LOL as Bart
inquires exactly what he means. (LOL...some really funny scenes between these two. Very reminiscent of Stefano and Bart).
As Tony storms off, Bart says that he is just like Stefano...only 10 times worse. Later, Bart swears that he checked the
security cameras and saw no evidence of a break-in. But Tony is sure someone was there because there is something missing,
showing Bart the blue box. Bart asks what was in it, but Tony only says that it was his past and possibly his future. Bart wants
more info, but Tony offers none, calling him an IDIOT. Bart gets a bit misty...saying that Stefano used to call him that
(ROFLMAO!!!) Tony just shakes his head and orders Bart to show him the security equipment. Later, Bart takes him to the
surveillance room and shows him the tape of the living room, but nothing shows up. As they watch it, Tony realizes that the
clock isn't moving and that someone rigged it...someone smarter than Bart...calling him an idiot again. He hears something
and asks Bart "what's that?" as they stop and listen...

Down at the Cop Shop...
Roman has just returned from Aremid (wow, fast trip!) as he and Bo talk of what they discovered. They wonder what Tony
is up to with Bo fearing that he is after Zack. Roman orders surveillance of the mansion 24/7. Marlena arrives, telling them
that John has been at the mansion. They are afraid that he will ruin the investigation, but John shows up, telling them that he
was right and is going to beat Tony at his own game. He tells them about seeing Colin return to the mansion last night and how
he made himself right at home. Marlena suggests that he was only there to check on Tony as she defends him. But the men
decide they will need to keep an eye on him. Roman and Bo want to know what John found out as he pulls out a huge blue
key. They all wonder what it means as John says it is the key to the past, future and all they don't understand (well, thanks
John for being so SPECIFIC!!) They all wonder what the key is for as John is sure that when Tony realizes it is gone, will
come after him. Marlena worries and asks him if ANYTHING will stop his quest...John tells her NOTHING can. Roman
warns John about going after Tony alone. Bo has to go home and help get ready for the barbecue as Roman gets a call from
Shane. He learns that the ashes could not be identified as Stefano's, but he body that was exhumed in Aremid was definitely
that of André.

Let the Barbecue Begin...
Later, John and Marlena arrive at Bo and Hope's house (John has changed clothes) as she tries to calm him down. She
works her magic and after a few kisses, they go inside. Bo, Roman, Caroline and Zack are there (Zack is so cute in his Uncle
Sam hat). They explain that the Shawn's are out back setting up the grill and Hope ran to the store. Jack and Jenn arrive,
loaded down with boxes of hamburgers. Jack wants to talk to Bo about Tony, but Jenn directs him to the kitchen to help her.
Marlena asks Roman if Jack and Jenn are back together. He doesn't know about that, but would love to know what they have
dug up on Tony so far. In the kitchen, Jack tries to persuade Jenn to pump everyone for info, but she refuses. In the living
room, Marlena asks John if he is okay and Roman tells him to let it go for now...tomorrow's another day. Roman wants the
key, but John refuses to give it up. Outside, someone is lurking in the bushes watching through the window. Caroline drags
out that horrid jack in the box and begins to play it. (BTW, his is what Tony was hearing at the mansion). As Tony and Bart
listen, Jack and Jennifer are talking about how they should be ready...anything could happen tonight. Bart asks Tony if that is
true...is something BIG really going down tonight?...Is he going to drop another bomb? Tony laughs, saying "I'm a
DiMera...there's ALWAYS another bomb!" He cracks a huge smile...as the credits roll.

TUESDAY, JULY 2, 2002*** 1/2

Tiz the 4th of July evening. Philip and Brady visit Chloe as the Brady/Horton BBQ is in full swing. Family, friends
and meteors crash the party..some are invited, some not.....

CHLOE'S HOSPITAL ROOM
Chloe asks the nurse to leave the blinds open so she can watch the fireworks outside as Philip brings a box in. He offers to
open the box for her and tired from the chemo, she agrees. He pulls out a huge telescope for her to watch the meteor shower
with. She falls asleep by the time he gets to the window and he kisses her forehead. DOTCOM
Nancy and Craig anxiously await meeting someone at dotCom (must be the only place still open on the holiday?). A man over
40 wearing a suit and tie walks in and Craig wonders if it's who they're waiting for (ya think?) It's the private investigator that
Bo referred them to. They explain why they need to find Dr. Sykes and without discussing money or anything else, he rushes
off to get started on his assignment.

SALEM INN
Brandon wants to take Lexie to see the fireworks, but she's not in the mood. Abe arrives at her hotel room door to deliver
"her father". She thinks they found Stefano, but he hands her the ashes and figures the ISA finished their test. Abe asks
Brandon to leave, but she tells him to stay. Abe mentions celebrating the fourth with her, but she sends him scooting being she
can't spend the day with her son. Abe leaves. Brandon talks her into going with him, but she insists on taking her "father" with
her.

Lexie brings the urn back to Tony and he rushes it inside and tells Lexie there's something they have to do. He thanks
Brandon, but says he'll take care of Lexie now. Brandon follows them.

BRADY/HORTON PICNIC
Shawn tells a shocked Marlena that Caroline's gone on a health food kick as he takes inventory of things in the cooler (bbq
asparagus?). Bo assures her they have plenty of Brady Burgers (ok..what‚s the secret to a "Brady" burger? Inquiring minds
want to know, ha!) Lots of kibitzing about the food as Hope returns and munches on a potato chip. Jack is anxious to
question Shawn about Tony, but Jenn and Abby remind him in their own way that he needs to take a night off work. He calls
Abby and Will over to play hide and seek (I thought Will was gone for the summer..guess not yet).

Belle arrives and Shawn takes her out the gate to the lake for some kisses and star watching. Brady arrives and hugs Marlena
as Sami walks in and wearing a sour face looks at Brady. She and Marlena talk about Tony as Hope asks Bo where Zack is.
Bo assures her Zack's upstairs with Grandma, but goes in to bring them out back so Hope won't worry. Inside Caroline
cranks that scary jack in the box as Bo joins them. (Zack calls Bo daddy, cute) Bart and Tony (who have nothing else to do
apparently) sit and listen to the Brady chit chat). They overhear John and Roman talking about the key to the DiMera
mansion, which confirms to Tony that John did get it. He turns off his Jack speaker (order a Jumbo Jack and their new
Chocolate Banana Shake first Tony!). Colin arrives to see Tony about how his medical situation. Tony can't talk and shoos
Colin out. Colin hears someone in the bushes.

BACK TO THE BRADY'S
Kevin and Mimi arrive as do Mickey and Maggie. Maggie uncovers her marsh-meteor (LOL!) (Meteor made out of
marshmallows) They head outside to look for cousin Colin, but he's not there. Belle makes an announcement about Chloe
and the drive they've started to help her. She mentions Mimi has a clipboard to take down names and how Basic Black has
already donated generously to the cause (about the only thing Basic Black is doing these days, isn't it? We never did hear
which secretary got the job and Kate and John are never at work, nor is Brady). Jenn tells Jack they can run a series of articles
on the bone marrow drive and he agrees, saying the first one can go out tomorrow as they rush over to tell Mimi and Belle.
Later Philip brings the telescope to the picnic and Brady's absence is noted by Shawn. Belle smiles, obviously knowing where
he went to.

Sami hugs Abe when he arrives and Bo and Roman join them, noting his sullen mood. He tells them about seeing Lexie and
Hope and Maggie bring Zack over to hug his godfather. Will rushes up to Sami worried about a meteor hitting him on the
head as Abby joins them talking about the upcoming event. Sami gives Abby "the look" as Lucas also joins them. Will asks
his daddy if there will be meteors in Africa when they go this summer (guess to visit Bill Horton, Lucas' father and Will's
grandfather?). Bingo! Lucas tells an upset Sami that they're visiting Bill for the summer. Sami tells him over her dead body
and he nods as if saying, whatever. He reminds her to get use to sharing Will and Roman joins Sami after Lucas walks away.
She tells him about Africa, but once he learns why Lucas is taking Will there, explains to Sami that Will has other family
besides the Brady's and approves. Sami feels like she's losing everyone and Roman hugs her, assuring her that's not true.
She rushes up to Brandon when he arrives in the backyard, saying he's looking for Lexie. Sami tells him there's no way Lexie
would show up there after what she's done to Bo and Hope.

Colin arrives at the front door and tells Bo he brought a guest, the guy the cops have tailing him. Marlena and John kiss and
the fireworks start. Shawn goes after Bo so he won't miss them. He overhears Colin and can't believe Bo put a tail on Colin
as Abe joins them. Colin threatens to call his lawyer and Abe takes Bo in the kitchen and privately tells him he's calling the tail
off. Jack had gone in to call the paper and eavesdrops as Colin asks PopShawn to get Bo off his back. (where are Alice,
Doug and Julie?) Marlena fetches Pop Shawn for Caroline and others flock in and out of the house. Maggie (carrying Zack)
and Hope join them, asking what everyone's doing inside. A knock on the door and Bo finds two cops with Tony and Lexie.
Maggie hands Zack to Hope without being told to as Hope hugs her son. Bo tells them to take Zack upstairs as Lexie stares
at them. John asks what they're doing there and Lexie wants to see Zack, but Bo holds her back. Tony rushes over and
slams the jack in the box to the floor, smashing it to pieces (thank you Tony!!). Tony explains about just learning his father
had planted the transmitter in it and says that's why he and Lexie came, to show he and Lexie want to change the DiMera
ways. He wants people in Salem to live in peace, just like what he and his sister want to do. John's not buying it and he
munches on an apple. Lexie cries in Brandon's arms about not getting to hold her baby and Abe asks the cops to take his
wife out of there. Brandon leaves with her. Abe tells Sami not to tell anyone about what happened. They're not charging Tony
with anything, just going to question him. Tony tells John he'd like to speak to John privately, but John tells him he knows
Tony's just like his father. Hope and Maggie come downstairs (without Zack!) and asks if they're gone.

Outside Alice is there (finally) watching fireworks with Mickey. Jack, Jenn and Abby are snuggled together watching too as
Colin watches from nearby. Mickey goes to take Alice home as she hugs Hope. The meteor shower starts as everyone oohs
and ahhs. Philip tells himself that star will be his and Chloe's as Kevin tells Mimi that's a meteor, not a star (snort).

Lucas goes to take Will out of Sami's arms, saying it's Will's bedtime and they're off to Africa early in the morning. Sami is
crying, but tells Will to have a good trip and how she'll miss him. She starts sobbing as little Will waves goodbye as he and
Lucas leave and rushes off to cry in private. Marlena and John come out and she tells him to enjoy the gift they've been given
(meteor shower). Belle tells Shawn the meteors look like they're so close and we see these huge rocks coming at them in the
sky.

BACK TO CHLOE'S ROOM....
Brady walks in and finds Chloe looking out at the fireworks. He tells her to go back to sleep, but she reminds him he
promised to show her the stars. He carefully helps her and her IV stand walk over to the window to see the meteor shower
as she leans on him.

HERE COME THE METEORS...
The meteors are coming closer to Salem and the sky is glowing red. Sami was driving by Dimansion and pounds on Tony's
door out of real fear of being outside during the shower. Tony isn't buying it until he looks up himself and the sky turns red. At
the picnic, family's and couples huddle closer to each other as they watch the meteors coming closer toward them. Philip
realizes he doesn't need the telescope to see them and looks up too. Last scene is of Belle and Shawn holding on to each
other as a meteor apparently hits earth and a flash of light as the credits roll....

The meteor showers hit Salem, literally, bringing along some unexpected visitors, great special effects, and surprising alliances. The mystery, fun & excitement begin.

NIK & VIC
Nik & Vic are having their little picnic, as Nicole promises Victor that even the meteor showers are part of her plan. He warns her not to stand so close to the edge, she moves forward, kisses him, turning him around and slowly working him to the edge. The closeness & suddenness of the meteors startle Nicole and she falls over the cliff. (This has to be the same cliff Sami fell over in Italy, LOL). Vic gets the lantern, seeing Nik hanging by her hands. He leans over, telling her to grab his hands. She is scared, but eventually does, and Vic pulls her up. Nik is truly shaken up, and they sit in the limo, while she tries to calm down, after she nearly died. Victor lets her know he realized what she was up to, that she did not want to make love to him, she wanted to kill him, and was going to push him over the edge - no witnesses, no one would know (what about the limo driver?) Nicole denies this, but says she hates him. Victor talks of her need for power, love and money, and tho she says she is rich, he considers that pocket change. (I should have that pocket change, lol). Vic declares his love for her, telling her that neither the fantasy of Austin, or the conquest of Colin are what she is looking for, and that when she gets over what other men, including her good for nothing father, have done to her, she will come to him. Nik dissolves into tears, but turns and kisses Victor.

IN THE BRADY BACKYARD
In the back yard, everyone is looking up at the sky, and getting scared expressions on their faces. They talk of how the meteors disintegrate as they come thru the atmosphere. The sky is lit up brightly, but a fireball seems headed directly towards everyone as they scatter and run into the house. Shawn & Belle trip over the telescope, falling to the ground and are a bit dazed. Marlena comes running out, followed by Colin, who checks them out. Belle wonders what is supposed to happen to change her life, & Shawn tells their friends that someone told Belle the meteor showers would bring this big change. Everyone laughs. . Jack & Jenn are excited that they seem to be where the stories are, as Roman gets word, that one meteorite hit Salem near Airport Rd. & there is a one car accident there. Philip, & Kevin look thru the telescope at the remaining showers, while Mimi forgoes that pleasure. Phil makes a joke about "they're landing" which Mimi does not think is funny, even if they look like Freddy Prinz, Jr. - she prefers Kevin Lambert, thank you very much. They all leave. J&J make plans to go out to Airport Rd., calling Vern & Jo to watch Abby. Abe & Roman leave, as does John & Marlena, who had been worried about Sami. However she called Lucas, & he told her Sami had called him about Will (see below). Belle tells Shawn she wants to go to Airport Rd, so they leave. Bo promises Hope a picnic on the Fancy Face for just the two of them, as Caroline brings Zack in, who is wide awake. He calls Hope Mommy, which delights her. Later, Bo & Hope, in bed, (Wonder if everyone is gone yet, lol) talk of how happy she was that Zack has made this transition at last and called her Mommy.

AT DIMANSION
At DiMansion, Sami seeks cover from the meteor showers, which seem so very close. Tony brings an hysterical Sami inside, but she wants to run back out, concerned about Will. He tells her that is what phones are for, and she calls Lucas, who assures her Will is asleep and o.k. She hangs up, but breaks down crying, saying how alone she is, with Will going off with his father for the summer, and how she thought she'd be in Hawaii w/Austin, but she is sooooo alone. Tony sympathizes, as his father had kept him isolated, too, and he knows what being alone means, only too well. Sami yawns, asks to sleep there, being there are so many empty rooms to rattle around in. (That gal just never quits, lol) Tony says, are we having a slumber party? Sami says he should lend her PJs and a robe, & she'll make popcorn. Tony calls her bluff, grabs her and kisses her. Sami is wide-eyed and astonished, but Tony says he knows her game. She wants the muscle bound Brandon to come & rescue her away from big, bad Tony. The man her family hates. Plus getting him away from his married sister. Tony surprises Sami, by agreeing to let her do with him what she will (love the dialogue) and agrees to go along w/whatever plan she thinks up. After she leaves, Tony smiles, wipes his lips with his handkerchief (lol) saying that after Sami gets Brandon back, she will have to return the favor .....with John Black.

AT THE PENTHOUSE
At the penthouse, John & Marlena are in bed, obviously in the afterglow. Marlena hears a noise, asking what was that. (see below) John says the earth moved (ROTFL) Marlena is worried that Belle is not home yet, but John takes her mind off her problems once more, talking about having the house to themselves (wonder where Caprice is?). Later, Marlena is sleeping as John fingers the blue key on the balcony, and wonders aloud what Tony is up to. Marlena wakens abruptly, having had a bad dream, not remembering it, but just that it was bad.

ON AIRPORT ROAD
On Airport Road, the camera zooms in on a car that has crashed, steam coming from under the hood, and the driver slumped over the steering wheel, while an address book is opened to the name of Bo Brady. (In case you are interested...the Bradys' address is: 519 Scuttlehole Road, Salem 06648. Telephone number is: 555-4199) Later, workers are trying to cut the door open with acetylene torches, as police cordon off the area. We learn there is a huge crater where a piece of meteor landed, (we do not see it, tho) & our favorite reporting team, Jack & Jenn are on the scene trying to get all the info they can. Finally, the car door is opened, and Colin rushes up (this guy is everywhere, huh?) and pulls the driver from the steering wheel. The victim's head turns, moaning a bit, and is revealed to be Billie Reed! (no one says her name, but it is Lisa Rinna)

IN THE WOODS
In the woods, near Airport Road, Belle & Shawn come out to a clearing, complaining that the police would not let them near the crater. They find an unopened bottle of champagne, & Shawn laughing says other people must like this place, too, and they talk of taking it back to their parents. Belle is still looking for whatever it is that will change her life. They profess their love for each other and kiss. Suddenly the sky lights up, they look skyward, hear a crash and fall to the ground. They are clutching each other, as the camera backs up, and we see what looks like a very small version of the Close Encounters space ship. Actually reminds me of a large beetle, with blinking eyes (the lights). As Belle & Shawn watch, it opens up somewhat like an oyster shell, revealing two persons, curled up in fetal positions, back to back, with each person's head at the other's feet. (Is this not reminiscent of how Superman came to Earth, lolol) They appear to be sleeping. Suddenly sparks begin shooting off around the craft. Shawn & Belle are staring in disbelief. AND the credits roll.
