MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2001 (***1/2)
Show #9020 (sweetened)
Director: Randy Robbins
Tape Date: 3/8/01
The longest night in Salem continues as the Kiriakis Mansion is
devastated by fire (and possibly Lucas as well)...John lays down
the law to Brady...and Sami has a rude awakening.
Austin Wakes Up (Both Physically AND Figuratively)
Sami is dreaming about Austin (flashbacks of them making love)
but in her dream, he changes to Brandon, who tells her that they
belong together. Meanwhile, Austin is in his apartment, tossing
and turning. He wakes up and says that he should have not let
that happen, it was a big mistake and is mad at himself for
giving in. As Sami continues to sleep, Will comes in and wakes
her up, wanting his daddy. He tells her that Lucas was there
earlier and she is furious. He asks if daddy can live with them.
She says no and Will says that he wants his daddy and runs off.
Sami is really mad as she spits that Lucas is going to ruin
everything. She calls Austin and tells him that she's having a
problem with Will and asks him to come over. Austin goes right
over and Will tells him that he misses his daddy. Austin talks
with him and puts him back to bed. Sami thinks to herself that
once she has Austin, all will be perfect. (Not so fast, Sami,
Austin has a few words for you). When he comes back, he tells her
that she can't keep him from his daddy. Sami's phone rings (it's
Brandon, who's at a bar (is it the Cheatin' Heart?) drinking his
troubles away. He wants to come over, but she brushes him off.
When she gets off the phone, Austin asks "How is Brandon?"
(That Austin, is he finally on to her?) She lies and swears it
was Roman on the phone. Austin starts again about Sami keeping
Lucas and Will apart. He says that Will will end up hating her in
the end., Sami (in her own little world) just wants Austin to
hold her. She is in 7th Heaven as she prattles on and on about
them. He says that they need to talk. She talks about how
wonderful what they did earlier was. He tells her that it was a
huge mistake and that it can't happen again. Cue a shocked and
hurt look from Sami.
Meanwhile, back at the Cheatin' Heart, a woman hits on Brandon (her
name is Sandy, but when he looks at her, all he sees is Sami).
She asks him about his wedding ring and explains about Angela,
but now she is gone. Sandy encourages him to move on with the
living. She challenges him to a game of pool, which Brandon wins.
She tells him that the winner gets what ever he wants (he
fantasizes about making out with Sami on the pool table). When he
snaps back, the tells Sandy to leave him alone and she storms off.
John Lays Down The Law To Brady
Brady and John are at the penthouse, talking about how well Brady
is doing with his walking. He tells him that when Belle and
Marlena get home, they need to talk. Belle shows up and John can
tell something is wrong, but she doesn't talk about it. Brady
gets upset because both Belle and Marlena know what the meeting
is about as Belle tells him to shut up, she is no mood for it.
Looking over the balcony, Brady spots Roman dropping Marlena out
front off and assumes the worst.
Out front, Marlena and Roman talk about how happy they are for
Sami. Roman is bound and determined to go after Kate and Lucas,
but Marlena talks him out of it. She tells him to let it go, Sami
is happy and doesn't need the revenge. He finally gives in, for
now. But if Sami changes her mind, he will help her out. He gets
a call on the radio about a fire in the "mansion district"
(ROFL) and he takes off. Upstairs, Brady continues to make cracks
about Marlena and Roman and John tells him to quit spying and
Belle pops him one and goes inside. Brady follows and she jumps
him. She tells him that she had a bad night and to cut it out.
She goes on to give him a brief explanation of what happened with
Chloe and Philip. She informs him that Philip did NOT rape Chloe
and that she stayed with her during her exam. Brady wants to know
why Chloe lied about it in the first place. Belle clams up and
won't say anymore. Marelena comes in as Brady and Belle head for
the kitchen. She joins John on the balcony and gives him her good
news about Sami. Belle and Brady hear her and come out to the
balcony. Belle is thrilled for Sami (John is as well) but not
Brady. He acts like an ass and starts mouthing off about Marlena
and Roman spending so much time together. John tells him to shut
up and not ruin this moment for Marlena. As Brady goes on and on,
John looks as if he could shove him over the edge of the balcony.
John again tells him to let it go. Belle tells her mom not to let
Brady get to her when she is so happy. But Brady keeps on and
says something about Roman having an extra X chromosone since he
can't stay away from his "EX". (Sorry, but THAT one WAS
funny. Not sure if it was scripted, but John almost loses it
there as he covers his mouth as he is smiling. Personally, I
think it was DRAKE laughing, NOT John, you decide for yourself on
Monday). Marlena tells them they need to have their family
meeting. To which Brady says she sounds like the nun in the
"Sound of Music". John tells him to shut up (for about
the 5th time) and that there are new rules in this house and he
will obey them. He tells him that everyone is to treat everyone
with respect and courtesy. And whoever breaks this rule will have
to find a new place to live. Brady explodes and says he is outta
there and storms off.
The Kiriakis Mansion Goes Out In A Blaze Of Glory (Bon
Jovi Should Be Playing In The Background ;-)
Outside the mansion, Kate tries to convince herself that
she did the right thing as the mansion goes up in flames. She
thanks God that Philip and Lucas weren't at home. Meanwhile, we
see Philip in the house yelling for her as Nicole searches for
Victor. Nicole finds Victor and they try to get out as the house
begins to collapse around them. Philip rushes upstairs but no one
sees Lucas in the floor. Outside Chloe yells for Philip as Victor
and Nicole finally escape through a side door. Once outside,
Chloe rushes up and tells them that Philip is inside. Victor
rushes back inside for him. Philip is in Kate's room and opens
the window. Kate sees him and begins yelling for him to jump.
Roman arrives and Henderson goes to find a ladder. Philip jumps
out the window to a tree and shimmies down (just as flames burst
out the window). He gets to the ground as Kate hugs him and he
tells her that he was looking for her. Nicole is holding Victor
back from going inside as Chloe runs around the house and tells
them that Philip is okay. Philip asks Kate what happened and she
begins telling him about her "nightmare" of seeing
Victor. Philip realizes that Victor must be inside and starts
back in but Kate stops him. Chloe comes back around the house and
hugs Philip and whispers to him that Victor is out back and is
okay. Philip tells Chloe what happened and that he must find his
dad and talk to him. He says this MUST stop (talking about
torturing Kate). Henderson tells Kate the house looks like a
total loss and she agrees, as we see Lucas lying in the foyer.
Nicole notices that Victor's head is bleeding and he tells her
that Kate whacked him with a poker and that he thinks she started
the fire.
Philip and Chloe sneak off to talk and return to the infamous
stables. They talk about what all has happened this evening and
he holds her. He tells her he is so sorry she got hurt, but she
tells him it's not his fault. She knows who to blame, Nancy. They
kiss and Philip tells her that he loves her.
The fire department has now arrived and Davis (the driver) shows
up. Kate asks him where Lucas is and he tells her that he dropped
Lucas off here earlier and he said he was going to bed. Kate
starts screaming and rushes to the house to save him. Roman
restrains her and goes inside himself. Around back, Victor hears
Kate's screams for someone "to save him". He realizes
that Lucas must be inside and heads in, but Nicole stops him,
telling him it's too late. Roman finds Lucas as the ceiling
starts to collapse. Outside, Kate is devastated and says if he
dies, it's all her fault. Roman carries Lucas outside to waiting
paramedics, who rush him off in an ambulance. Roman confirms to
Kate that it WAS Lucas inside as she screams/cries "NO!!! NO!!!
NO!!!" and collapses to the ground as the credits roll.
Laney
I got this interesting email from one of our readers about the
Chloe rape storyline. Thought I'd share her insight. Special
thanks to Isa! "I volunteered at a rape crisis center in
college. I was very surprised to see 1) that your survey showed
most wouldn't have had Chloe examined and 2) the show's story
line sort of blaming Nancy for everything. Chloe is exhibiting
EVERY SIGN of a real rape victim. The shock when they first found
her, screaming when she saw Phil, the constant "Don't Touch
Me!", even the denying it happened and TRYING TO GO BACK TO
THE MAN WHO DID IT! All of these are normal and common for a rape
victim, especially one that is hurt so badly that she wants to
pretend it didn't occur. I'm very unhappy with the fact that they
are blaming Nancy for being a good mother and trying to help her
girl. I'm also unhappy with the fact that no one seems mad at
Chloe for lieing about a horrible crime that she knows nothing
about."

Show #9021 (sweetened)
Director: Roger Inman
Tape Date: 3/8/01
The longest night in Salem continues as the Kiriakis Mansion is
history, Chloe & Philip return to the barn and Abe realizes
Lexie has become a DiMera.
Jack & Jen Discover DotCom
to talk without Abby overhearing. Alice had gotten home and would
be with Abby. Jack's mind reels with the operating costs for such
a business and interrogates the waitress. Jen's patience wears
thin and she goes to leave when he apologizes and quickly orders
cappucino for them. Jen's had it though, tells Jack there's no
need to talk. She's happy without him and unhappy with him.
They're not married and she's not going to live with him. He asks
if they can have a rational discussion and she asks who's going
to stand in for him as he's not capable of it (LOL). He gets her
to admit that he doesn't joke about Abby and she agrees about
that and sits down to talk with him. They talk about his lack of
communication with her and Abby in Africa. She tells him to look
around at all the computers and how email is so readily available
and even the minimum wage waitress carries a cell phone (don't
email me if you don't, that's just what Jen said ;-).
The two banter back and forth. He already has a couple irons in
the fire and wonders if their old house is still available. Jen's
nerves are fraying as she tells him no child should grow up in a
house where the parents don't love each other. He tells her thats
not the case, is it? Jack has a document showing a child should
be with both parents, even if they're going through tough times.
Jen doesn't mind his being with his daughter as long as she's not
around. She tells him she never makes a decision without
considering Abby first and he mentions she didn't when she took
his daughter out of Africa and away from her father. Oops.
Back At The Green Mountain Lodge Bar
Abe and Lexie learn that Marlo was a drunk and a drug addict. OK,
Barb admits she did just smoked pot and took pain killers for her
back, but stopped that when she found out she was pregnant. Glen
confesses Marlo still drank a lot though and when drunk, said she
thought the baby was better off dead then with her as a mother.
Abe and Lexie glumly listen to their tale. Lexie asks why Marlo
disappeared and Barb wants to know why they're so interested in
all this. Lexie laughs and tells Abe she's done it again, gotten
too nosey. She tells them she's a motivational writer and
interested in stories where people do the right thing if there's
a struggle. Of course she shares the profits with the people who
share their story with her and Barb encourages Glen to tell Lexie
what she wants to know. He tells her Marlo didn't like his
nagging and left. He tells her Marlo didn't have any family that
he knew of. Lexie figures the baby had special needs from her
alcohol and drug abuse and it would take a special couple to
raise a child such as that. Glen sounds like he might back away
from proceeding with his search and Lexie brightens. Lexie asks
for their address in case her publisher likes the storyline and
of course Barb obliges. She asks for Lexie's, but she tells them
Abe refused to let her bring business cards on this trip (as Abe
watches and listens dazed). Lexie said she and Abe will send a
bottle of champagne to Glen and Barb's room so they can have it
in their hot tub and start their own family. Barb hugs Lexie and
tells her she's the nicest person she's ever met. Alone with Abe,
Lexie says she thinks it worked as Abe looks at her, saying he
doesn't know what's happened to her. He doesn't know her anymore.
Lexie feels justified to what she did, even knowing that Glen's
son didn't have special needs. He remembers how Lex didn't even
like to lie before, but she's changed. She leaves to be with
Isaac, but Abe knows she's a DiMera now.
Although His House Is Burning Down
Philip and Chloe continue to smooch in the barn. Both seem to be
unphased about the evening's horror at the hospital and his home
and smooch some more. He offers her some sandwiches and soda from
the tack room (sure have a picnic, roast some marshmallows on the
burning house for dessert, what the heck). They lie down and
laugh and she comments about how thoughtful he is to her, even
though his house and stuff is burning down. He knows it's just
stuff and the thought of losing her would be more devastating. He
promises never to keep a secret from her again after what
happened earlier. Chloe tells Philip he's pure and uncomplicated.
He would like to spend the rest of his life making her happy and
secure, so she'd know she's loved. Chloe likes that idea, but
can't say those words and puts her security glasses back on. She
does share that having him in her life makes each day easier. He
understands her position and doesn't want her to feel bad if she
can't vocalize her feelings back to him. She puts the glasses
back on her head and he tells her he loves her and is there for
her. Instead of saying what she does feel and feeling trapped, he
dares her to look into his eyes and say she doesn't love him so
he can at least hear her say the word love somehow. She does so
repeatedly with a smile on her face and they kiss, knowing she
means the opposite of what she says.
Back up at the burning house, we see Kate freaking out again. She
admits to Roman that Victor was in the house and he must be dead
for sure. She tells him it was only a dream about Victor after
she flashes back to whacking him with the poker. Roman holds Kate
tight as he tells her Lucas wasn't breathing when he took him out
of the house (did he get that close a look at him as he darted
out of the fire and threw him on the guerney in the fire
blanket??).
Roman & Kate Arrive At The Hospital
To find Lucas with a team of doctors and nurses working on him.
She dashes into the room wearing Roman's jacket over her
nightgown as they use the defibulator on him. She asks Roman how
she could do this to her own son. He asks what she meant and she
remembers starting the fire. She doesn't care what happens to
herself, she just wants her son to live. The doctor comes out and
tells her they got a heart beat. They put him on a ventilator
until he can breathe on his own. She wants to see him, but the
doctor tells her no, he needs to be in a sterile environment and
wouldn't know her anyway. The doctor will keep her posted. Roman
asks Kate what she meant about blaming herself and she admits she
should have checked Lucas' room when smelling the smoke. She
tells Roman it's Sami's fault, his bitch of daughter. (Oh yeah,
blame EVERYTHING on Sami! Roman at least knows that Sami was home
being he was with her.) She says Lucas was devastated about
losing Will. The doctor returns and tells them Lucas is in a coma
and they don't know if he'll ever come out of it. Roman asks the
doctor about Kate saying she's responsible and the doctor said
it's normal and survivor guilt.
Back At The Blaze
Victor watches from the bushes as Nicole tells him that it was
Lucas still in the house and he's on the way to the hospital now.
Victor decides it's time to end the charade. Nicole can't believe
what Kate did to both Victor and then what she did to Lucas being
he was still in the house. She chokes up saying even Lucas didn't
deserve that. She convinces Victor that Kate is a monster who
kills without a speck of guilt in doing so. Victor agrees she
must be stopped. She gets him to hold off doing anything tonight
so that Kate can be with her son at the hospital as he'll need
her. Victor agrees to hold off and to not tell anyone how Nicole
did a nice thing for someone else as she tears up. Victor and
Nicole watch the mansion collapse as she tells him memories are
fireproof. The house was a dungeon/cave and she's glad it's gone.
He should build a house full of windows and light for him and
Philip. She'll even design it for him. He'll have everything he
needs. He asks everything? As they hold each other, the house
collapses. He doesn't think there's any way he can pay Kate back
for what she did and Nicole has an idea. Have her arrested for
attempted murder. He likes that idea as the credits roll.

Show #9022 (sweetened)
Director: Mary Madeairas
Tape Date: 3/10/01
The Endless Night is over as a NEW DAY dawns in Salem, family
gathers at the hospital while some individuals have private
conversations, not only with others, but with them-selves! (A new
director for today's episode).
At Alice's
Jen returns from taking Abby to school, as we see Jack in his
car, talking on the cell phone (Jack, get off the phone or off
the road... tsk) to a real estate agent. He is telling her his
expectations for her to find the right house, in the right
neighborhood, with the best schools, etc. for Abby. As he hangs
up he tells himself he will have Abby with him, but will Jen come
too? Meanwhile Jen is telling Alice about Jack's idea of having
them be roommates, which Gran thinks is not a bad idea. Jen is
astonished, but Gran tells her she knows she would do what is
best for Abby, and mentions how Fergie & Prince Andrew live
in the same quarters for their girls. Jen goes to get the paper
and is shocked at the headlines about the Kiriakis mansion
burning down.
Jack arrives, and offers to drive Jen to the hospital. She is
very upset about Lucas (her 1/2 brother), as is Alice. She tells
Gran she will check on things and call her. Jack drives her to
the hospital, where she introduces herself to Craig and asks to
see Lucas, but he says only one visitor at a time, and the mother
is first. Austin arrives and they hug, as Maggie arrives. Jack
tells her about Lucas, & she overhears someone say Lucas
evidently had been drinking. Maggie doesn't understand why no one
told her Lucas was drinking again, since she is his AA sponsor.
Jen asks Jack to leave, as she wants to help her family.
Sami Comes Back To...
her apt. after taking Will to school. She asks herself what
mommies do after taking their kids to school, and decides they
have a coffee break! LOLOL. She talks to herself about Austin,
and dismisses his idea that last night was a mistake. She babbles
on about her fantasy world of her, Will and Austin. Meanwhile
Austin has opened his door to get the paper, and is shocked at
news about the fire, and no one called him. He goes to show Sami,
who mutters something about Kate & Lucas getting what they
deserve after what they did to her. Austin is appalled, and she
tries to cover up by saying she was shocked by the news. He
leaves for the hospital, and she smirks to herself, that now she
won't have to put locks on Will's window to keep Lucas out. (Yep,
this gal is just so caring.....) Just then Brandon arrives with
flowers for her, & she shows him the paper. He says "Well,
guess what goes around, comes around" (so much heart, these
two). He soft soaps Sami about how he accepts her, and she
doesn't really love Dudley Do Right, just obsesses over him. Sami
decides she has to go to Austin before Kate gets her claws into
him.
Philip & Chloe Awaken In The Stable
(It is amazing that with such a huge fire, not one wisp of smoke
found it's way into their little hideaway). Chloe goes over last
night's events, and comments that they survived it all. Phillip
feels it shows how strong their love is. They talk of the
dangerous game his father is playing......and Victor walks in,
telling them they are right, and it will soon end. He informs
them that Lucas was a victim of the fire, and Philip realizes his
mother will be needing him, and goes to the hospital. Victor
apologizes to Chloe for walking in on them the previous evening,
causing her so much trauma, and Chloe apologizes back for
compounding the problem. She says she has to leave, but has no
where to go, and will NOT go home, and Victor realizes she has
had an argument with her parents. He inquires as to what
happened, and as she flashes back to the argument with Nancy, she
tells Victor it is none of his business. He thanks her for
keeping his secret, and asks why she did. She shrugs, and talks
of how he reminds her of Faust, who wanted to be young again. He
tells her she must then be Marguerite. (They are referring to an
opera, I think). He tries to convince her to go home. Chloe says
she should leave now.
In Lucas' Hospital Room
he lies completely swathed in bandages, as Craig & a nurse
discuss his condition, which is not good. Outside, Kate (still in
her nightgown and very dirty from the smoke) talks to herself
about the fire, and how Victor must NOW be truly dead. She
relives starting the fire, then as she is berating herself for
causing Lucas's injuries, she has several flashbacks of him over
the years.
Philip arrives, and she is so happy to see him, but babbles on
about it being all her fault. When he questions her she explains
how devastated Lucas was over losing Will, and he really went on
a drinking binge. She relates how he went out with the chaffeur,
cause she would not let him drive...but he must have come back
and she should have checked his room. Craig comes out, tells Kate
that Lucas is on a ventilator, will need extensive skin grafting
because of all the burns, and that he is in a coma. Kate wants to
go in, but Craig tells her the risk of infection is too high, she
must get cleaned up and into clean clothes, and sends her to the
nurses' station.
Craig then apologizes to Philip for hitting him, and they make
their peace, shaking hands. He pressures Philip as to the WHY
Chloe was so upset, and tho Phil at first refuses, he eventually,
reluctantly, tells him it was because he had lied to her. Craig
tells Philip he can go in to see Lucas, but first must get
cleaned up, and sends him to the showers (thank goodness, that
hair is driving me nuts) Inside Lucas's room, two nurses are
talking of Lucas, and how he might be a vegetable if he comes out
of the coma. One tells the other the mother is coming in, and is
asked if the mother is ready for this. She goes outside and tells
Kate to come in. Kate is in hospital scrubs, with her hair under
a cap. She puts a mask over her face, takes a deep breath, goes
into the room and stands at the bedside of the comatose Lucas as
the credits roll.

Show #9023 (sweetened)
Director: Randy Robbins
Tape Date: 3/12/01
Some kids are back at school, Hattie starts her Marlena
impersonation, Chloe returns home and Brady and John have a talk.
Salem High
Well, hallelujah, some kids actually go to school! Shawn and
Belle wonder where Philip and Chloe are while Jan and Mimi lurk
nearby (don't these girls have a life?) Jan wishes Chloe had been
the one "fried" in the fire instead of Lucas.
Belle shares how she was with Chloe during the exam. Even though
the exam wasn't that bad, it did something to Chloe and she
doesn't think that Chloe will ever forgive her mother. They talk
about Philip and Chloe and how Belle knows her friends are in
love. Shawn figures if that's love, who needs it. Belle tells him
that he's going to be the biggest sap of all when he falls in
love. Shawn figures he never will (sure sign it will, haha).
Jan asks Meems about Shawn's kiss in Paris. She figures out
quickly it was either a mercy kiss or one to make Belle jealous (some
friend, huh?). She tells Mimi reality sucks and Shawn and Philip
aren't interested in girls like her. She tells Mimi that Chloe's
assets showed in that tight red dress she wore to the dance. Jan
comes on to the computer nerd (Kevin Lambert) to get help with
the website to expose (literally) Chloe.
Shawn comments on Belle's hair and goes to stroke it as Belle
gets uncomfortable and goes in the classroom. Shawn returns to
Mimi and Jan, telling them he saw they were listening in to his
and Belle's conversation and demands to know what they're up to.
The DiMera Trio
Short trip to GML as Lexie's back at Daddy Dearests already
telling him about running into her son's father at the bar at GML.
She tells him about Glen and Barb (who she says has the moral
fiber of jello) and how they were on their way to Salem after
seeing Marlo's picture on tv, but stopped for sex enroute. She
tells him how Abe wasn't receptive to how she handled the
situation, but Barb was. She shares what she had learned about
Marlo's drug and alcohol abuse. She wonders why Isaac wasn't
affected by Marlo's drinking and after watching his non-surprised
reaction to the news, demands Stefano explain. He tries the I
know nothing response, which
doesn't fly, and gets angry with her, confirming he does know
more. Stefano tells her he isn't lying, just happy she's thinking
more like a DiMera. After a mutual admiration talk, they hug.
Mom, I'm Home
No, that's not what Chloe says as she returns home. She quietly
enters the door to find Nancy sitting morose on the couch. Nancy
is flashing back to when Dr. Bader told her Chloe wasn't raped
and being slapped by Chloe. Nancy jumps off the couch, relieved
Chloe's home. Chloe tells her mother that she will never forgive
her for putting her through that humiliating experience and she
hates her. Nancy asks where that leaves them. Chloe points out
she's under 18 and stuck there. She knows Craig is on her side
and threatens to come between Nancy and Craig if her mother
interferes in her life one more time. Nancy tells Chloe when
she's 18 she can do or go
wherever she wants, but until then, she's in charge. She orders
Chloe to go upstairs, change and go to school for the rest of the
day. Chloe tells her mother she hates her and heads upstairs.
Nancy figures if it takes being hated to protect her daughter, so
be it. She just doesn't want Chloe
to find out who her father is.
Java Café
Maggie and Marlena have a cuppa at Java Café. Maggie tells
Marlena she's dreaming if she thinks John's going to kick Brady
out onto the street. Maggie asks and Marlena shares that John
thinks Maggie's been too inquisitive (Maggie says nosey) lately.
The gals share they need each other and this isn't going to ruin
their friendship. Maggie tries to gets Marlena to open up with
what's bothering her. She feels responsible for what happened to
Lucas and needs to help someone now. Marlena tells Maggie she
can't tell her. Maggie gets hurt and walks away in tears.
Hattie (wearing scarf and sunglasses) meets Rolf at Salem Place.
He gives her a shoebox, the contents of which puzzle her. We find
out it's a luscious chocolate eclair. She's confused as she's
suppose to be on a diet. She gives him the eclair to eat and he
says it's not what he's hungry for. She offers to make the "good
doctor" feel better and leads him elsewhere. She takes off
her glasses and scarf and approaches a sidewalk vendor, who
gushes thinking she's Dr. Marlena and tells her she misses her
radio show. Hattie (pretending she is Marlena) is rude to the
lady and insults her scarves. She apologizes to the doctor for
bringing him there and stomps off. She figures she'll be able to
do that with all Marlena's fans, then sees Maggie leaving in
tears from Marlena's table. She figures she was impersonating
Marlena for real and calls Marlena a "harpy". After
leaving money on the table for their coffee, Marlena rushes after
Maggie. She bumps into Hattie and is shocked. Hattie rushes off
and Marlena flashes back to when she and Samantha were talking a
long time ago. She calls Samantha's name and Hattie (from afar)
tells Rolf that Roman had told her that was Marlena's twin
sister's name. Rolf tells her that Marlena's twin was evil and
had even tried to kill Marlena. Hattie figures this will be even
more interesting than she thought!
The Penthouse
John and Brady (slap his sarcastic little face) talk. Brady
lashes at John about how he's doing exactly what Marlena wants.
Brady admits he shouldn't have left like he did, knowing that's
what Marlena wanted too. John tells him this was HIS rule and
Brady tells him he only thinks so. He tells his father how he
himself was a nice guy and helped Chloe last night. Brady yells
about his life "sucks" because of Marlena. He doesn't
like or trust her, how can John expect him to respect her? A
frustrated John asks Brady what he expects HIM to do? Brady wants
John on his side. John finally has enough and tells Brady he's
sick of this and wants a concrete answer as to what Brady wants.
He offers to put Brady up in his own apartment and visit him
every other day if that'll make it easier. (Most kids Brady's age
would jump at that opportunity.) Brady vents he knows John loves
him, but Doc more. John tells him he loves everyone in his family
and they're his first priority. It's Brady's decision if he can't/won't
live by the rules. Brady realizes he's got to live there to
accomplish his goals. He apologizes to John and says he doesn't
want Marlena to hate him and screw things up with John and
Marlena. John buys this lie and hopes Brady can live up to the
rules. John hugs his son who promises to do his best. Brady
hobbles out and calls his lawyer. He demands she meet him at
Salem Place right away if she wants that big contingency he
offered her (why not meet in her office, it's more private!) as
the credits roll.

Director: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: 3/13/01
Not a terribly exciting show...Brady and Abe have a talk...Glen
and Barb arrive in Salem, much to Lexie's surprise.
Gonna Wash That Grey Right Outta My Hair ;-)
Victor is carrying in firewood (dressed in a flannel shirt and an
old fishing hat) as Nicole comes bouncing in, dressed in shorts
up to her crack (hmmm, what's wrong with this picture?) She has
lunch (burgers and fries, from Buddy's Burger Barn, I assume).
She tells him that after lunch, they are going to play a game and
pulls a Monopoly game out of the bag. She also has another little
surprise for Victor, a box of men's hair dye. He flatly refuses
to dye his hair, being that he is comfortable the way he is. She
keeps on and on, and finally makes a deal, if she wins at
Monopoly, then he has to dye his hair. They start kissing and she
tosses the game aside. Later (they are now in their robes) Victor
starts waxing nostalgic about Kate and tries to rationalize her
actions. They wonder if Kate is panicking yet because no one has
found his body in the ashes. They are sure that she has returned
to the scene of the crime. But Nicole calls the hospital and
finds out that she hasn't left Lucas's side. She says that Kate
must be very confident that the truth won't come out. Victor
informs her that Kate always covers her tracks. They are sure
that eventually, she will realize that Victor is still alive and
Nicole is set to destroy her. But Victor doesn't seem to be as
enthusiastic about it. Nicole encourages him as he talks about
starting over. She finally convinces him that a good start would
be to dye his hair and he agrees.
Kate's Wheels Are Turning
As Kate sits by Lucas' bedside, she says that she loves him and
that she won't leave his side. She wonders if they have found
Victor's body yet and realizes that she dropped the poker by him
(yes, she is talking aloud). She turns to find Craig there but
covers by saying that she is talking to herself and not even
making sense. After she is sure he heard nothing, he suggests
that she get something to eat and take a break. He assures her
that they are doing all they can and Lucas is getting the best
possible care. She blames Sami for taking Will and devastating
Lucas to the point of drinking again. She says that she is all
alone now and doesn't know what she will do. Austin walks up
behind her and tells her that isn't true, he is there for her. He
tells her that he doesn't hate her, just disappointed. She tells
him that she has done a lot of bad things and then gets upset
when he begins to preach to her, telling him she doesn't need his
advice. Finally, she tells him that she loves him and would do
anything to rebuild their relationship. Austin says that he loves
her as well and always will as they hug and Kate cries on his
shoulder. She wants him to do her a favor and he offers to do
anything for her, get her a room, clothes, whatever. But she
makes a strange request, she wants him to hire security to stand
guard at the mansion until she can get there. Austin tells her
that the fire department is there now investigating and she gets
upset. She goes to leave but Craig shows up with another doctor (a
neurologist) who wants to talk to her. She realizes it must be
bad news and goes with them, but as she leaves, tells Austin to
do as she asked and hire security to stand guard.
Brady & Abe Run Into Each Other (Literally)
Brady hobbles through Salem Place and verbally attacks some kid
for staring at him. He turns and runs into Abe and falls down.
Abe tries to help him up, but he refuses and ends up calling him
an insensitive SOB. Abe tells him because of policy, he isn't
supposed to talk with him, but wants to get something straight.
They sit as Abe tries to reason with him and talks about how
different he used to be. Abe takes responsibility for shooting
him and apologizes and tells him to vent on him. Brady says he
can help by going after Roman and goes off on Roman chasing after
Marlena. Abe tries to defend Roman but Brady won't hear of it.
Abe blames Brady for not telling the truth (about Belle's
accident) in the first place. Brady claims that no one would have
believed him anyway. He blames Roman for pursuing the whole thing
and says he is to blame. He lets Abe know that he is intent on
destroying Roman and THEN will get his justice. Abe needs to
think and leaves. Brady hears applause and turns to find Chloe,
talking about his brilliant performance. They immediately get
into an argument.
Roman & Marlena
Roman shows up at Marlena's office and sees a statue as he has
flashbacks (voice only) of when he gave it to her. Outloud, he
says that he will always love her. She walks in and asks what he
said (later we learn that she DID hear him). He covers and they
talk about Kate/Lucas. Roman insinuates that Kate started the
fire by her guilt. They talk about how Sami will react when Lucas
comes to and wants to see Will. They then talk about the Brady
situation and Roman suggests that he not let it go to trial and
just come clean and let Brady win. Marlena can't believe what she
is hearing as Roman admits that he WAS over the line. She also
admits that perhaps she used Roman and pushed him because of
their closeness. But she also says that Brady should have told
them about Belle and that he was wrong and must now take
responsibility. She says that it's Brady's hatred for her that
fueled the fire and tells Roman about John's new house rules and
tells him that she thinks things are going to get back to the way
they were before. Roman talks about how things used to be and she
stops him, telling him he shouldn't say something he will regret
(I think he was going to tell her that he still loves her). She
says that she just doesn't want Roman to get hurt. He leaves and
Marlena is upset that Brady could destroy so many lives because
of his hatred for her. She is afraid that her marriage can't
survive with Brady around. She thinks maybe it is a good thing if
Brady finds an apartment and be on his own. She calls John and
invites him to dinner at Tuscany.
Hope Is OH-SO-CLOSE To The Truth
Hope shows up at Lexie's upset. She tells Lexie about the call
that came in to the station about Marlo. Lexie tells Hope that
she met Glen at GML and he could be Isaac's father. Hope is
confused so they sit and talk as Lexie explains. (For those of
you with short memories, there are flashbacks of Abe/Lexie/Glen/Barb).
Lexie tells Hope that she isn't worried because she "worked
her magic" as Hope questions her more. She explains and
tells how she learned that Marlo was a drunk, hooked on pot and
pain killers. Hope is amazed that Isaac doesn't have health
problems. Hope talks about how Gina's drinking affected JT and
how well he is doing lately. Hope tells her that something is
still bothering her. There is a piece of the puzzle missing and
she must find out what it is. They talk more about Glen and Barb
and Hope admits that they way Lexie is talking scares her. Lexie
changes the subject and asks where JT is. Hope tells her that
Shawn and Belle took him to the station to see Bo. Lexie suggests
that she get Isaac and they join them, so they take off. They
arrive at the station looking for Bo and Abe. They find Abe (returning
from his talk with Brady) and he grabs Isaac and begins playing
with him. Lexie says "Oh, My God!" as she spots Glen
and Barb, grabs Isaac and runs as Abe turns to see them. Glen
says "Just the man we are looking for." Freeze frame on
Abe's face as the credits roll.
