OH MY GOD!!!! That is all I can say. I am (almost)
speechless! I wasn't expecting this today! The last scenes are
riveting as the bloodbath begins...and something tells me it
isn't over. It will leave you on the edge of your seat. BUT, get
the kiddies out of the room first. The only ones not shot (for
sure) are Hope & Bo...and Jack & Jenn...who all leave
before the crowning.
Episode #8990 (Sweetened)
Directed by: Herb Stein
Tape Date: 1/26/01
Prelude To A Bloodbath
The show opens with everyone making their donations.
John and Marlena, Bo and Hope both make drops. Lily and Stefano
spar as they both make donations. Jack and Jennifer continue to
verbally spar with each other (geez the looks they give each
other). She takes off and he follows right on her heels. She
threatens to have security throw him out on his derriere and he
makes a comment about her studying her French. She takes off
again. Greta thanks Austin for all his help. As they talk, Sami
watches them and stews in her juices. Brandon and Angela keep an
eye on her and discuss what could go wrong. Charles mumbles to
himself and Chloe overhears. He pulls his gun (just in case) but
covers and tells her to run along. She is looking for and
worrying about Philip. Ingrid makes an announcement and thanks
everyone for their generosity. Nicole and Victor are both nervous
about the plan as Philip shows up.
Victor asks him about his confrontation with Kate as Kate
continues to beg Moroni to call off the hit. Philip and Nicole
both want to call off the plan and leave, but Victor is
determined. Nicole goes over and introduces herself to Angela as
her new sister-in-law (ROFL at Angela's expression). Moroni has
heard enough of Kate and has his goons drug her drink and she
gulps it down. Victor talks with Angela and thanks her for her
help (?) I don't know what is going on there, but apparently
Victor, Nicole, Philip, Brandon, Angela and Sami are all in
"the plan" together. Angela just hopes her father
doesn't find out that she betrayed him. Sami continues to keep an
eye on Greta and Austin and comments to herself for Greta to keep
her paws off of Austin. Shawn and Mimi return to the ball, only
to get a cold shoulder from Belle. Mimi asks Shawn to dance as
Belle watches. John and Marlena dance and seem to be having a
good time, that is until John brings up Brady's name. Marlena
doesn't want to talk about him and excuses herself to the ladies
room. Bo and Hope are also dancing as Hope sees Jen alone and Bo
encourages her to go and talk with her. Stefano and Lexie chit
chat with Lord and Lady Sheraton. As they leave, Lexie is amazed
at how well he is liked and admired by the European community.
She asks him what's the matter with him and he says that there is
something wrong. He instructs her to stick close to him and do as
he says without question. (Better listen to daddy this time Lexie!).
Philip and Chloe finally get together and he assures her that all
is okay. He tells her about the "talk" with his mom and
she hugs him. He tells her that he would never make it through
the night without her. She asks what is going on and why is he
watching Victor? Marlena joins Belle (sensing something is wrong)
and asks her WHAT has Shawn done this time? Belle doesn't want to
talk about it and takes off. Shawn suggests that they switch
partners, but Mimi points out that Belle is busy with Lily and
the children. They head that way but Belle gives Shawn the cold
shoulder again and walks away. (She is really po'd at him!)
Vincent and his hitmen go over the plan again. Moroni tells Sal
to make sure that Angela is not harmed. Kate threatens to expose
Moroni and makes her way towards Austin. She recognizes Sami but
becomes too woozy to act on it. Moroni's goons grab her and drag
her outside and knock her out and throw her in the bushes. Jack
grabs Sami and asks her to dance. Before she can say no, they are
on the dance floor. She leads him towards Austin and Greta so she
can eaves drop. She ends up stomping on Jack's feet and storms
off. Jennifer, Austin and John talk as Austin and Jenn haven't
seen each other yet. Jack comes limping up and Austin asks what
is wrong. He tells them that he was dancing and Jenn tells him he
should be careful at his age (ROFL). Austin assumes they are
together and asks why he wasn't invited to their wedding. They
BOTH inform him that there was NO wedding. Then Jenn adds "and
there never will be" as Austin looks on confused (hard to
tell with him). Austin asks what did he do THIS time and Jack
simply tells Austin to go to hell. John goes to find Marlena and
runs into Stefano along the way. He tells John if he ever needs
his help to just call on him. John tells him to stay away from
him. Jenn storms off with Jack following again, wanting to talk.
Jack finally convinces Jenn to talk to him so they head outside.
He tosses his drink in the bushes and it splatters all over
Kate's face. Bo and Hope decide to leave the party early and out
on the balcony, hear a groaning (Kate). They see a cat and assume
that was it and leave. Kate comes to and staggers inside as all
hell is about to break loose. Angela & Brandon realize Kate
is missing and decide to call the plan off. Angela tells Nicole
and she tries to warn Victor. Ingrid comes in with the crown and
tells everyone the time is here as we see everyone loading and
locking their guns. (Charles is hiding behind the curtains, Sal
is in the airshaft and the other hitman is hiding in the ball
room.)
The Bullets Fly And The Body Count Is Too High!
Oh My God! This is worse than I had imagined!!! If violence
shocks you, I advise you not watch. I am still shaking! I had to
stop and take notes. Everything goes by so fast and it is really
hard to tell who gets shot and who doesn't! There are quick
glimpses of everyone and a lot of it is in slow motion. This
makes the Moldavian Massacre (from Dynasty, for those who
remember) almost look like a tea party! Here we go, there is a
huge fanfare as Greta and Austin enter and everyone applauds.
There are guns pointed at her, Brandon and Victor as Vincent
comments that he wishes Kate were there to enjoy the bloodbath.
Stefano gets a premonition and comments to Lexie "break my
thumbs, something wicked this way comes". Kate comes to and
staggers inside as everyone gathers around Greta and Austin for
the crowning. Ingrid formally introduces them. Austin leans in
and asks her if she sees her father in the crowd and she confirms
that she does indeed and will announce him right after she is
crowned. Austin places the crown on her head as Kate stumbles in
and tries one last attempt to get Vincent to call it off. Charles
has Greta in his sites and fires 3 shots. I think the first one
missed, but the other 2 were right to the chest area and down she
goes as everyone begins to scream and hit the floor. He fires
another and takes out Ingrid. The other hitmen (who are hiding)
wonder who the hell is shooting. Then they open fire. One of them
shoots Victor in the back. He turns and takes another bullet to
the chest and down he goes as Kate gasps and Nicole crawls over
to him. Sal turns to shoot Brandon, but Angela sees him and
covers Brandon with her body and takes the bullet in the back and
down they go. John dives on Marlena to cover her and are crawling
across the floor screaming for Belle. Charles steps out from
behind the curtains and opens fire on the crowd. Sami says
something about getting the tape and takes off across the room on
the heels of Lord and Lady Sheraton. Down goes Sami (not sure if
she got shot or not). 2 security guys open fire towards the air
vent and they go down. Another guy (extra) is riddled with
bullets. Shawn and Mimi go down. Stefano and Lexie go down as
well. Like I said, it's hard to tell who is being shot and who is
diving for cover. John picks something up and throws it in the
direction of one of the hitmen and he is shot in the chest.
Marlena screams for Belle with blood splattered all over her face
and hands. Freeze frame on Marlena's bloody face, as the credits
roll.
Laney
FYI...the actual body count... as I counted them (8 I'm sure of)
Greta...3 shots fired...2 direct hits
Victor...2 shots fired...1 in back; 1 in chest John...one direct
hit to the heart/chest area Ingrid... direct hit Angela...one
shot to the back as she covers Brandon... 2 Security Men...direct
hits (although one of them resembled Brandon...and he DID have a
gun) One party guest...riddled with machine gun Possible hits...Hard
to tell... Stefano, Lexie, Shawn, Mimi, Sami and Marlena (because
of the blood on her face and hands)...and I'm sure it's not over.

A FULL replay of the massacre as it continues today (so
if you miss it today, get it tomorrow). The wounded are tended
to, someone dies and someone kills themselves. If we complained
about lack of action on the show lately, they've made up for lost
time the last couple of days! This spoiler wants to give two
thumbs up to the actors for a job well done!
Episode #8991 (Sweetened)

Le Cafs
Bo and Hope are toasting wine glasses at a café near the
coronation. Bo spots Jen and Hope sees she's with Jack, sitting
across the café. Hope suggests they stay hidden and that Bo tip
the waiter to play a song, hoping to reunite J&J. Jack orders
water and Jen corrects that to the best champagne they have. The
two argue and Jen yanks off Jack's mustache (ouch). Jack tells
Jen he would do anything to be with her and says he's changed.
She said like she's the queen of Sheba and wants him out of her
life. He tells her that won't happen as Abby ties them forever,
unless she wants to give Abby to him. She said never and he tells
her he feels the same way. Ireland comes up and he offers to
listen this time about her reason for going there. Her cellphone
rings and it's Abby. Abby hears her daddy's voice in the
background as he holds his hand out pleading with Jen to talk to
his daughter. She gives him the phone and he uses his Cary Grant
voice asking if she has a boyfriend and if he rides to school in
a limo and has lots of money. He tells Abby he'll see her soon
and Jen grabs the phone, telling her daughter that having money
doesn't make a difference and to go to bed. Abby tells her mother
that Daddy was just kidding and hangs up. Jack seriously tells
Jen having Abby is all that matters. Towards the end of the show,
one of the royal guests stumbles bleeding into the café, asking
for help. Jack, Jen, Bo and Hope rush up to help the man and he
tells them terrorists struck at the coronation and it looks like
a battlefield. Hope gasps, worried about Shawn.
The Massacre
A full repeat of the end of Monday's show starting with Austin
escorting Greta into the room. Where we left off with Marlena
looking for Belle, the dark haired hit man walks into the room
shooting his gun and firing it at anything that moves. (How many
shots do those guns have? And I would think it would have a
silencer on it in the "hit" fashion). Moroni whips his
gun out and points it at the hit man asking what the hell's the
matter with him and this must stop. A guest grabs Moroni and
pulls him down (hello, he's the GOOD guy trying to stop the
hitman you dufus!) As Moroni wrestles with the man, the hitman
goes to exit when Sal comes in with his machine gun (why would
they have one at a hit for 3 people?) also shooting at everyone.
We see Kate and Moroni lying with eyes closed. Kate gets up and
pushes the man on top of her off. She crawls over to Vincent and
rolls him over as he points a gun at her. Once they recognize
each other, she's upset at the extent of what happened and
Vincent threatens to kill the hitmen. He goes to look for Angela,
but all Kate cares about is the tape. He criticizes her maternal
extinct and she said it wouldn't do her any good in prison. John
wakes up and feels the blood in his abdomen. He remembers his
mercenary doctor days as he poured alcohol on a similar wound he
had and held a bandage on it. He gets up and takes a gulp of a
bottle of something on the cabinet, then pours it on his wound
and puts a napkin over it. A frenchman on a cellphone calls for
ambulances, walks by and Mercenary John orders the man outside to
look for the ambulances and said he'll take over inside. The man
agrees and leaves as John looks for Marlena and Belle. Austin
finds that Greta was shot in the abdomen as well. He holds his
hankie on it and rips her petticoat to wrap around it as well.
Greta wants to know if the children are okay and hears crying.
Austin wants to leave to get help, but she asks him to stay with
her. John helps an elderly lady and Marlena rushes up to him. She
cries in his arms in relief and they split up to look for Belle.
Sami rushes into Marlena's arms, happy her mother is okay, but
Marlena doesn't recognize her. Sami takes off her mask saying
it's a disguise as Marlena asks what she's doing there.
Sami rushes off to get the tape and Marlena asks if she's seen
Belle, but Sami doesn't hear. John sees Belle and Lilly. John
hugs Belle, relieved she's okay as Lilly comments how Belle was
so brave and helped save the children's lives. John hugs his
"baby girl" as Lilly rushes over to Austin and Greta.
Austin tells Lilly to get a doctor and asks about the children.
She tells him they got the children out and someone took them to
the hotel. Later we see Lexie working on Greta. Austin goes to
lift Greta and Lexie yells at him not to move her.
Austin asks for the truth and Lexie tells him not knowing the
extent of her injuries, it would be bad to move her (tell that to
Philip, Lexie!) He tells her he understands and Greta asks about
the children and Mrs. Mitchell. Greta asks Austin to look for
Ingrid (Mitchell) as she has to take care of her. Austin asks
Lilly why anyone would want to shoot Greta. Lilly tells him she
saw Charles with a gun and Austin tells her he warned security
about Charles (maybe they worked in Salem previously?). She tells
him there were two others shooting and they're the ones firing at
the crowd. Austin threatens to kill Charles. Charles watches from
behind a curtain across the room, wondering how Greta could still
be alive and moves forward vowing this wasn't for nothing. Lexie
tells Greta that she did everything she could and Mrs. Mitchell
didn't make it. Austin comforts Greta as she cries. Sami finds
Brandon on the ground, cradling Angela in his arms. He tells Sami
Angela was shot and to get a doctor. Sami rushes to get one and
bumps into Vincent. Vincent tells Brandon he's a good man for
protecting his daughter, but Brandon is honest and tells Vincent
how Angela threw herself in front of him to protect him. Vincent
holds his head in shock, watching his daughter crying and her
telling Brandon she's glad she's dying in his arms. Vincent holds
his head crying, asking what he's done. Angela thanks Brandon for
making her so happy and showing her what love could be. Angela
passes out and Brandon grabs her father as he rushes up and tells
him to get control of himself. Kate rushes up to get the tape and
Sami blocks her, telling her to let Vincent's daughter die in
peace. Angela wakes up and asks about the tape. She asks her
father to give it to Brandon as she vowed to give it to him after
they were married. She needs to fulfill that promise so she can
die in peace. Kate whispers in Vincent's ear not to do it, but
Vincent hands it to Brandon, saying his daughter's promise to her
husband means more to him than anything Kate has or wants. He
returns to Angela as Sami whispers to Kate that it's all over.
Kate stomps off. Vincent tries to cheer his daughter saying she
reminds him of her mother. He tries to leave for a doctor, but
she tells him no, stay with her. She has trouble breathing and
Brandon tells her thanking her isn't enough. He tells her he has
never met anyone so good or so beautiful. She taught him about
courage and love and thinking about someone else more than
themselves. She tells him she loves him and how special he is.
She knows he can find someone else. She wants him to be happy
like she was with him. She tells her father and Brandon she loves
them, hears her mother calling for her as she dies in Brandon's
arms. Sami watches crying as Vincent realizes this was all his
fault. Brandon apologizes, but Vincent tells him no, he took care
of his daughter and rushes off. Sami comments how this wouldn't
have happened if Vincent had just given them the tape. Brandon
says we have it now and Vincent will pay for it the rest of his
life. Sami says Angela really did love him (Brandon) and he asks
about Victor. She doesn't know and goes to check on him and
Austin. Brandon, holding a dead Angela in his arms, quietly tells
himself for her to do that. Philip and Nicole are holding Victor
and calling for help. Victor assures his son he'll be fine.
Philip yells at Chloe to go outside and find a paramedic. A man
with medals walks up and Philip asks him to carry his father
outside. Sami finds Kate yelling for Philip and the two have
words. Sami realizes that the bullet Angela died from was meant
for Brandon and there was also one meant for herself as well.
Kate doesn't deny it. Sami tells Kate to listen up and tells Kate
she's as responsible for this as Vincent is and might even be
responsible for killing her own sons. Kate rushes off yelling for
Philip (sorry Austin). Sami returns to Brandon and Angela. She
puts her hand on his shoulder and tells him gently it's time to
let Angela go. He's in a stupor of sorts and looks up at Sami,
then continues to rock Angela. Vincent rushes outside in grief
and anger at himself for being responsible for his daughter's
death. He pulls out his gun and points it at his head first, then
at his heart. Inside Sami and Brandon are talking when a gun shot
goes off as everyone in the room collapses to the floor, fearing
the gunmen are back. Brandon knows it was Vincent as he saw it in
his eyes that he couldn't live with what he had done and
continues to rock Angela.
Belle looks for Shawn and later finds her parents helping someone.
John figures Bo and Hope took Shawn and Mimi out of there (not
knowing Bo and Hope snuck out earlier). Chloe rushes up and hugs
Belle. Marlena suggests Belle leave the room, but Belle asks her
mother if she thinks she could do that without knowing how her
friends are. Marlena smiles and says no. Later Chloe and Kate
bump into each other and she tells Kate how Victor was shot in
the chest and that Philip and Nicole took him to the hospital.
Kate said it looks like Victor's dead and she's going to prison
and so is Lucas. The party's over. Greta gasps and closes her
eyes. Lexie can't feel a pulse and starts giving her mouth to
mouth as Lilly and Austin watch. She gets a pulse and they decide
to take her to the hospital. Charles figures Greta will die.
Chloe finds Belle and they decide they have to start looking at
bodies to see if they can find Shawn and Mimi. Belle said she
tried, but can't. Together they find Shawn with his arm around
Mimi on the floor, both unconscious or dead. Mimi has blood on
her dress. Guests find Moroni on the patio, lying face up with a
bullet hole in his abdomen. A man checks for a pulse and closes
Moroni's eyes as Brandon morosely watches and the credits roll.

Another terrific show as the paramedics arrive to tend
the dead and wounded, Kate calls Lucas and callous Sami finally
takes off the wig and meets up with Austin.
Episode #8992 (Sweetened)
Directed by: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: Various
Kate Seeks Some Privacy..........
and telephones Lucas, waking him up out of a drunken stupor. It
takes a bit, but she tells him about the shootings, and that
Victor may be dead. Kate tells him they are in big trouble as
Sami and Brandon got the tape. Lucas has a fit, and yells at Kate
about her plan and Moroni. She informs him Moroni is dead, as is
Angela and he is shocked. They then gleefully talk of all they
inherit if Victor is truly dead. Kate figures with all those $$
they can hire the super best lawyers, and win out over Sami. But
they truly are concerned about the tape being heard in court. She
tells Lucas he has to clean up his act, no drinking, etc. and he
agrees. As they say good-bye, Kate is going to check on Victor. (Hard
to believe she has not yet gone to the hospital). Lucas
immediately pours himself a stiff one, saying he will taper off
slowly (sure, Lucas, and where have we heard that before). Will
comes in, afraid of monsters, and Lucas pulls him into bed with
him, saying from now on it will be just the two of them.
In The Ballroom.........
(These scenes are mass confusion & heartbreaking, naturally.
The bodies laying all over remind me of that scene in Gone With
The Wind at the railway station... I can only report on these the
way it happens). Lexie finally gets a pulse on Greta, but says
they have to get her to the hospital. Austin picks her up just as
a doctor arrives. He lays her back down and the doctor checks her
out. Chloe and Belle find Shawn & Mimi and cry out. Lexie
goes to help, along with Lily. Shawn is unconscious, but has not
been struck by bullets. Mimi has been hit in the leg and chest.
Lily has a short conversation with a policeman or detective (one
who investigated the thefts of her artwork years ago), as Marlena
comes to help Greta. Shawn is being carried out on a stretcher,
but comes to, and gets off. Belle and Chloe have their arms
around each other, watching the medics work on Mimi. Stefano
comes in and asks the doctor about Greta's chances. He replies
she may survive only if the American (?) is able to save her.
Brandon is cradling Angela and mourns her, repeating that she
saved his life. Sami only cares about the tape and asks about it.
The detective tries to question Kate about what she knows about
the shooting, but she denies any knowledge except for bullets
flying. Stef joins them, telling the cop about Moroni's suicide.
John tries again to cover his wound which is getting worse.
Brandon is caressing Angela, kisses her, and is very upset over
how he used her, never loving her, and now she is dead. Belle is
talking to Mimi, when Shawn comes up, and they hug each other.
John has another war flashback and goes into his mercenary doctor
mode again. Lexie loses heartbeat on Mimi. Chloe goes outside
onto the balcony where Moroni lies dead. The detective is
examining the scene, and Stefano joins the detective, noting that
he has just a single shot pistol, and the shooters had a semi-automatic.
As the cop leaves, Chloe explains about Victor being shot, and
Phillip taking him to hospital. Stefano begins to get a glimmer
of what happened, a hit gone awry. He comforts Chloe and
surprisingly has a great insight on the wall Chloe puts up around
herself. John goes to aid Greta, who is being taken to an
ambulance. He then goes over to help with CPR on Mimi. Shawn
consoles Belle who is very upset, and Mimi begins to breathe
again. As Greta is being carried out, Austin bumps into Sami. The
paramedics get Mimi onto a stretcher, and Belle tells her how
they are going to be best buddies and do everything together
again when she gets better. Shawn and Belle thank John and Lexie
for all their help. Lexie bumps into Brandon, surprised that he
is there. Marlena gets an update from Belle and Shawn about Mimi,
and the two teens leave. Marlena sees John sink to the floor. He
gets up and wipes his face with water, then sees Stefano with
Chloe and gets upset. Lexie reminds him that Stefano has done
decent things, like saving Hope in the turret. Austin is very
angry with Sami, who at last has removed her wig. He berates her
for being up to old tricks, etc. telling her to stay away from
him, and rushes outside to where Greta is being put in an
ambulance. Sami then finds Marlena and in her usual one track
minded way, tells her that she will be getting Will back. (This
girl has all these dead and wounded around her, and it does not
move her one iota!). Austin is not allowed to accompany Greta in
the ambulance as Lily will. The driver says they will need blood,
and he could donate, but she tells him Greta will need blood and
it is Type AB. As the ambulance leaves, Sami arrives and Austin
apologizes to her (WHAT? she deserved every word.....but that is
our pure of heart hero, I guess). Brandon is pushing one of the
victims in a wheelchair, and spots them talking, and he is not
very happy. He pulls out the tape and looks at it. When Austin
tells Sami about how he is not Greta's blood type, which is AB,
Sami happily informs him that she is....and she will give blood
to Greta. (A side note here.... no one says a word about being RH
positive or negative and I know that is very important. AB is
very rare, it is my blood type....and you must match the RH
factor, too.) Belle goes in ambulance with Mimi to the hospital.
Stefano watches John being the triage supervisor, murmuring how
proud he is of John, when Mr. Black passes out. Stefano then sees
his wound, calls Lexie over, who says John has no pulse. Fadeout.

Another excellent show as most of the action takes place
in a French hospital...as Sami spills her guts to Austin, John is
in serious conditon and Kate takes one step closer to the point
of being unredeemable. Also, Chloe and Stefano prove that they
have ice water in their veins and absolutely NO hearts!

The Aftermath
Chloe is with Stefano in some French restaurant drinking tea. (How
callous are they?) He talks about how they are alike and have the
same tastes. She hopes that Victor and everyone else is okay (well,
then why aren't you at the hospital?) When she mentions John
Black, Stefano gets a bit worried and almost says too much about
him. He tries to talk to her about her childhood, but she doesn't
want to. He calls her music the world that she escapes into. He
tells her that people will lie, but the music speaks to the soul.
He calls some man and woman over to sing to them. After they
finish, she goes to get dessert for them and Stefano calls Lexie
on the cell phone. He finds out that John is in serious condition
and tells her to go to John and whisper something in his ear. She
is unsure and questions his request, but he is adamant. Earlier,
John is in the ER with the doctors working frantically with Lexie
assisting. (WHY does she seem to be the one in charge?) They say
that he has lost lots of blood and that they may be losing him.
Belle and Shawn are waiting on news about Mimi as they hug. Belle
wonders where Chloe is and Shawn tells her that he saw her with
DiMera. Bo, Hope and Jenn rush in and they tell them about Mimi
while Shawn insists that he is okay. Marlena shows up and
consoles Belle. Hope asks about John and Marlena and explains to
them all about all John did to help everyone. She leaves to go
and check on Mimi for Belle and Bo leaves to find out information
on Victor. Bo and Belle comfort each other as Hope and Jenn leave
too. Marlena returns and tells them that Mimi is in surgery and
Belle goes to pieces, thinking she won't make it. Bo returns with
no news on Victor. Lexie comes in and tells Marlena and Belle
about John (they didn't even know he had been shot?) and that he
is on life support. Belle starts balling and Marlena is in shock,
but wants to go to him. Lexie explains how he collapsed while
working on others and tells everyone to pray for him. Marlena and
Belle comfort each other as they cry over John. Marlena goes to
check on John as Bo and Hope urge Shawn to stay with Belle. Hope
and Bo leave again to find out about Victor and Jenn goes to call
Alice. Alone, Shawn and Belle hug. Earlier, Hope and Jenn were
alone and talked about how lucky they were, but both feel guilty
that they were spared. Jenn worries about calling Alice with the
news. Hope wonders where Jack is and Jenn says she sent him away,
not wanting to deal with him. She tells Hope that it is over and
just too complicated. Hope offers advice, saying how her life
with Bo hasn't been easy. She tells Jenn that she and Jack can
work things out if they are committed. Jenn says that if she
wants happiness and peace of mind, she can't have Jack in her
life. She can tell that Jenn still has feelings for Jack, but she
insists her feelings are only for her daughter. She promises Hope
that she WILL stay in Salem. Jenn says something about being
attracted to the wrong men and Hope picks up on it, asking if
there was someone else besides Jack. Jenn tells her this is not
the place or time to discuss it. Shawn comes in and gets them and
they all rush off to the other room. That is when they find out
about John. Kate is at the desk (along with a dozen others) all
shouting for information. She is trying to find out if Victor is
there and his condition. Bo, Hope and Jenn show up and Kate tells
them that Victor was shot. She can't find out any information and
to herself, says that she needs to find out if Victor is dead or
not. Outside, Brandon and Nicole talk. He is down and out and
Nicole tries to convince him that Sami doesn't love him. He is in
denial over it, and won't accept that Sami actually loves Austin.
Austin is in the ER with Sami as she is getting ready to donate
blood. He is really down and out and she tries to comfort him. He
has a valentine (the ONLY mention of the holiday) that one of the
orphans made for Princess Greta. Sami says a little prayer for
her (is she sincere or is it for show?). Sami decides to tell
Austin the whole sordid details as to why she is in Paris and
what she is up to. For the first time in a long time, she is
completely honest with him, even telling him if the tape gets in
the hands of the authorities, his mother and Lucas could go to
jail. When we return, she has explained most of it and tells him
how they got the tape and that Brandon has it now. Austin asks
her if she loves Brandon. With tears streaming down her face, she
tells Austin that she has always loved him, since the first time
she saw him. She apologizes for all she did to break up him and
Carrie, but she now wants him, her and Will to be the family they
always wanted to be. Brandon barges in and tells Sami that she is
making a big mistake. He covers by saying he was talking about
the tape. Sami gives blood and Austin asks Brandon to leave, but
he doesn't. Kate barges in and wants to speak to Austin privately.
They go to another room, but Austin has nothing to say to Kate.
He only wants answers from her about her part in all of this. He
says that she no longer has a son and storms out. He returns to
the ER with Kate on his heels. Nicole gets a call on her cell
phone and says "Oh my God, NO". The nurse comes and
tells Austin that Greta is out of surgery and asking for him, so
he leaves (as Kate and Sami cut each other ugly looks). Nicole
gets off the phone and tells them that Victor is dead. Kate puts
on a show, but turns around and to herself says, "Sorry
Victor, but no one is going to stop me now" and smiles, as
the credits roll.

Hattie comments how sweet Rolf is to let her eat a chocolate chip
ice cream cone. He's all dressed up in a suit and tie (looks like
Hitler with his hair and mustache that way) and he considers it a
valentines gift to her. She tells Rolf as soon as she takes over
Marlena's life, she'll divorce John Black and marry her true
love, Roman Brady. He doesn't want to hear that and she thinks
she's figured out why he wants to change her to Dr. Evans, calls
him a bag of wind and heads off. He catches up to her and she
fears they want to kidnap Marlena and turn her into a hit man and/or
clone her. (been there, done that already, haha... wonder where
all the Marlena clones are nowadays?) She figures they'll kill
her so people will think Marlena's dead. Rolf assures her she is
the last person he wants to see dead and she doesn't believe him.
He said he's not that kind of doctor (ask Marlo about that) and
she yells at him. She's read enough mystery books to know she's
his next victim and refuses to let him do it. To shut her up, he
kisses her. Afterwards, she's mesmerized and Rolf tells her he
wouldn't do that if he was trying to kill her. Staring at him she
vows she'll have to get to know him better. Abe and Roman are
chatting at Java Café, talking about the massacre. Roman cuts
Stefano some slack for at least protecting his children (ain't
that the truth). The subject of Brady comes up again. Brady (on
crutches) and Carl are also at Salem Place (for all their driving
around Salem, is this the only place to go?). Brady vows he'll
make people pay for what happened to him. He sees Abe and Roman
and heads their way on crutches. He falls and they rush to help
him. Brady mouths off about his step mommy dearest and Roman. Abe
lets the kid mouth off, but tells him they both want only the
best for him and are praying for him. After Brady mouths off some
more, they tell him they're praying for John. Brady tells them
his dad is in Paris and realizes something's wrong and panics,
demanding to know what. The top cops realize the kid doesn't know
and wonder what to do. They tell him what happened and Brady
accuses them of lying to him and rushes off. Roman feels bad that
Brady didn't know, but knows Brady's a troubled kid and no doubt
will figure out a way to blame Marlena for what happened to John.
They talk about John being shot and Hattie and Rolf overhear.
Hattie almost moans out loud (something Rolf said she's known
for, LOL), but Rolf covers her mouth and pulls her back. He tells
her she might not have to divorce John when she takes over
Marlena's life, just be the grieving widow. Soon Hattie will be
Marlena Evans.
Back At The Hospital In Paris
Belle prays in the chapel. She thanks God for coming through for
her family lately (no kidding, her being almost hit by a train
and in the hospital, brother, father and best friend shot...
these kids have been through a lot!) Shawn joins her and they
pray together. He lights a candle for both John and Mimi. He
figures everything happens for a reason and wants to go check on
Mimi. Belle thanks him and goes to check on her father. (He's got
a white towel around his shoulders, but still wearing the bloody
shirt, whatsupwiththat?)
In the waiting room, Marlena tells Lexie she can't lose John (who's
still on a ventilator). She cries and wipes her eyes. Lexie tells
Marlena that Stefano told her to give John a message that will
help him. Marlena tells her absolutely not and not to believe
Stefano would help. Staring straight into Lexie's eyes, she vows
Stefano will not get near her husband! The doctor comes in and
tells them John has a lung infection and is responding well to
antibiotics. They should be able to take him off the ventilator
and into surgery soon. (These French hospitals are miracle
workers, both with Mimi and John!) Alone with Lexie, Marlena
comments that John is fine without Stefano's help. Belle arrives
to find her mom crying and fears the worst. Marlena tells her the
good news and Belle goes to check on Mimi. Marlena offers to join
her, but Belle wants her mom close to her dad. They hug. Belle
mentions she tried to call Brady, but didn't want to leave a
message on the machine about her dad and will try again.
Not sure why, but Lexie goes off on a tangent about how much she
wanted a baby and how much she misses her Isaac. Marlena smiles
and tells her to cherish it, they grow up so fast. Marlena
remembers Belle's first day of school and how Belle took John's
hand. Belle asked her father if he'll be there after school and
he assured her that he will always be there for her. They hope
that Belle was able to reach Brady and that he won't hear it from
anyone else. (Too late). Lexie tells Marlena about the 15 deaths
so far from the massacre. Marlena asks if anyone else from Salem
was shot and Lexie tells her that Victor was shot. Marlena gasps
and they talk about he was taken to another hospital and Philip's
with him, but don't know how he is.
Belle and Shawn are told by the doctor that Mimi is stable, but
the sooner she wakens, the better. They have to watch her closely.
B&S want to see her and the doctor said ok and rushes off to
call Mimi's parents. Belle takes her hand and they assure her
she'll be flying home in first class soon (surprised John didn't
have her parents fly over on his jet) Belle mentions Shawn's kiss
in the café and Shawn tells her there's another one waiting for
her when she wakes up. Belle mentions to Shawn that she keeps
thinking about the school shootings back home. She felt for the
poor kids in Colorado, but being she wasn't there, it didn't seem
real. Even when Brady was shot, she kinda felt that way as she
wasn't there for him. She was at this one though. Shawn mentions
that most people don't realize what danger a gun is and dead is
dead. Belle vows to make a difference for themselves and for
their kids. Shawn smiles and tells her he's glad she's part of
his life. They hear Mimi moan and rush over to her. Mimi knows
they were there and she tells Shawn he owes her another kiss.
Greta is in her hospital room and wakes up (looking beautiful and
hair perfect) as bloody Austin (can't they get these people some
scrubs to wear or a t-shirt of something?) He tells her about the
terrorist attack and she's more concerned about the children
being traumatized than herself. Austin wants her to think about
herself for once and get better and Greta assures her that with
him being by her side, she will. Sami eavesdrops and lunges in.
Clasping onto Austin's arm, she tells Greta that they've been
sooo worried about her (slap). She makes sure Greta knows about
the blood she donated. Greta wants a pen and paper and Austin
goes to get it for her, but Sami pretends like she's lightheaded
from giving blood. Even Greta realizes what's going on (come on
Austin, wake up) and turns her head and rolls her eyes, LOL!! He
helps Sami sit down and tells the nurse, who offers OJ to Sami.
He orders Sami to sit down as he and Greta need to talk and she
agrees, then pretends to faint in the chair. He taps her face
while Greta watches. The nurse takes her pulse and it's fine and
suggests she lie down in an empty bed down the hall. Sami refuses
(gee, wonder why, haha) and Greta suggests she have a doctor
check her out. She tells Austin she'd feel better if Austin just
held her for a minute (oh paleez) and of course he does so in
front of Greta, who's very alert (right after critical surgery)
and watching intently. Sami goes to leave and assures Austin
she's okay. She knows Austin needs to help Greta and that Greta
needs "a friend" right now. Greta thanks Sami for her
thoughtfulness (picking up the innuendo). Sami leaves and listens
in through the doors. Austin plops on Greta's bed (hey, she JUST
got out of surgery). She mentions the orphans again and Sami
rolls her eyes. Greta wants a head count of injured/wounded. He
tells her 15 people have died so far and how John Black was shot
and is on life support. He calls and finds out that John is out
of the woods. Greta feels responsible for what happened and
Austin tells her it's a tragedy, but the event had some good came
out of it. They raised money for the orphans and he agrees to
take partial credit with her insistence. He asks her to rest and
get better to go home. She's crying and tells him after all
they've been through in Europe, it's almost like they belong
there and she'll miss it. Outside Sami vows NO ONE is taking
Austin away from her as the credits roll.
