Okay, you Jack 'n Jen fans! This show is for you! I now
understand all the hoopla surrounding them. All the flashbacks
were new to me, but I'm sure their fans will love seeing them
again! Everything else takes a back seat.
Episode #8985 (Sweetened)
Directed by: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: Various
Jack & Jen Together Again
Alice Horton is playing matchmaker as she is in a cab headed for
the airport to catch Jen with a letter in hand. She tells the
cabbie to step on it and offers him extra if he can get her there
on time. Meanwhile, Jen has boarded the plane and they are
awaiting take off. She has a chatty guy named Fred next to her
trying to hit on her, but she lets him know that she isn't
interested. There is an announcement that the departure has been
delayed as Alice boards the plane (boy that Gran SURE has some
clout in Salem!). She gives the letter to Jen and wishes her well.
Jen realizes its from Jack as she holds it, but doesn't open it.
Back in her cab, Alice tries desperately to get Jack on the phone.
She finally gets a number and calls him in Rome. She informs him
that Jen is on her way to Paris and that is where he can find her
if he wants. Oh, silly Gran (you sly fox) OF COURSE he wants to
see her! ;-) On the plane, Jen holds the letter tight as she has
a long series of flashbacks of her time with Jack. Sorry folks, I
wasn't really watching then and don't know the significance of
all the flashbacks, but they look good and make me wish that I
WAS watching back then. (We see them in the car, soaking wet; her
coming on to him; him telling her that he loves her; him dressed
as Santa proposing to her; clips of their wedding; her telling
him that she was pregnant and her having Abby in what looks like
Horton cabin, anyway a treat for J&J fans, I'm sure, to see
the clips again). She says that she will never forget their time
together, but there's no going back. They guy beside her (Fred)
tells her that who ever he is, he is a LUCKY guy. She doesn't
want to read the letter and stuffs it in her purse. Later, we see
someone sneaking around the airport, hiding behind a newspaper
with 2 big holes in it (LOL). Yes, of course it's Jack (in
disguise with a beret and a fake mustache). He's in Paris
awaiting her arrival as we see her exit the plane. He tells
himself it's now or never, but things go terribly wrong and he
trips and falls with Jennifer falling on top of him, causing
quite a scene. As he apologizes, she turns and sees him with his
mustache half falling off, she recognizes him. She yells at him
to get away from her and to get a life as he follows her. She
tells him that she DID NOT read the letter and he tells her that
something that she said is an oxymoron. She says YOU are an
oxymoron and rips the rest of his mustache off and storms off. He
smiles and says he still gets to her, and takes off after her. (Note,
I have never really seen these 2 together, but with these short
scenes, I really saw the sparks, they must have been GREAT
together in their hey day). Now on to the rest of the show, or
what little there was of it.
Kate's Indiscretions
It's a new morning and Vincent Moroni finds Kate guzzling the
booze. She snaps at him as he assures her that she will be able
to repair the damage with Philip after Victor is dead. She again
pleads for Victor's life but he assures her that Victor WILL be
killed tonight and there is nothing she can do to stop it. She
keeps on drinking and she tells him that when this is over, she
never wants to see him again and storms out.Vincent has
flashbacks of ordering the hit on Brandon and Sami and calls Sal
to come over. As Sal cleans his gun, he tells him that Angela
must never find out that HE is the one who ordered the hit. He
instructs Sal that the moment the crown is placed on Greta's
head, Walker is to be a dead man.Victor and Nicole are having
breakfast, but Victor is too upset to eat. Philip shows up and
wants to talk to him about Kate, so they ask Nicole to leave. (Note
to producers: someone PLEASE get Nicole some WD-40 for her shoes!!
Geez, what a racket her squeaky shoes make). In the hallway, she
wonders just what Kate did to so upset Philip and decides to go
and find out. Inside, Philip tells Victor about catching his mom
and another man in the act. Victor is appalled and wishes he
could have prevented Philip seeing that. Philip blames himself
for not doing more to try and get him and Kate together. Victor
assures him that his mother does love him and hopes that this
incident doesn't cause him to lose faith in people and love.
Victor tells him that there is something else he needs to tell
him and to listen carefully.Kate and Nicole run into each other (literally)
on the street and begin exchanging insults. Nicole mentions
Philip and Kate grabs her shaking the crap out of her, demanding
to know where Philip is. As they argue, Kate calls her a "bitch"
and continues to shake her. Nicole finally tells her that he is
with his father and as she leaves tells her that she hopes her
"shriveled raisin of a heart breaks in two". (LOL at
that line). After she leaves, Kate blames Sami for all her
problems and says that she should have died in the gas chamber.
She vows that her stay of execution ends tonight at the
coronation.
Still Getting Ready For The Coronation
As Greta nervously paces the floor, Austin shows up with
breakfast. He calms her down and tells her that if she gets
nervous to just hold on to his hand. She says if she holds his
hand, she may never let go. As they share a tender moment, a lady
shows up with a little orphan girl, Katrina. She has drawings
that the children have made of the princess. As Greta coos over
the pictures, the girl says that she wishes that Austin and Greta
could be her mommy and daddy. Greta is touched and as she hugs
the little girl, tells her that she will see her soon. Ingrid
arrives as the lady and Katrina leave. Ingrid informs Austin that
according to custom, as Greta is crowned, the one that is pure of
heart is to kiss her. Greta seems embarrassed by this, but Austin
assures them that he has no problem with doing that, as they
smile at each other.Final Preparations for Brandon and Sami
Brandon is also pacing the floor waiting for Sami. She shows up
and they discuss their plan, with him telling her that there is
no room for error and he wants her to be safe. She assures him
that she is used to danger and they will all be okay. Her part of
the plan (which seems really simple to me) is to grab the tape as
Moroni hands it to Kate, and that she must NOT be recognized or
Moroni will have her killed. He assures her that if she doesn't
get the tape, he will. He also tells her that no one must ever
know that Angela helped them set her father up. He has the gun (how
did he get it out Sami's hands?) and he assures her that he will
use it if he has to. She tells him about calling home and about
Lucas being drunk and he promises her that she will have Will
back soon. He talks about when he was younger and being pushed
around. He says that those days over and his next target is Abe
Carver. This talk scares Sami a bit but thanks him for his help.
She mentions Austin and Brandon gets upset saying he is doing
this only for her, not Austin. She suggests asking Austin for
help during this scheme, but Brandon says no. he doesn't want her
being distracted by him. She promises there will be no slip ups
in her getting the tape back, NOTHING will distract her, not even
Austin. And the credits roll.

The Coronation
Charles figures he doesn't have to wait for the Princess to be
crowned to kill her and lurks in the hallway. He opens the door
he's hiding in and shuts it hearing someone coming down the hall.
It was Austin, heading for Greta's room. The guard at Greta's
door didn't see the door open in front of him, but Austin points
it out to him. They appear satisfied that it was just another
guest.Guests are arriving in the ballroom as Greta puts on her
gown upstairs. Lilly is there and questions if Greta feels it's
suited for her. Well, now that Greta thinks about it, no. Ingrid
is flustered as it is a copy of the dress Prince Van Amberg's
mother wore (get over it lady). Lily instructs the dress be
changed to the one she liked while Ingrid worries this is a bad
omen. Ingrid and Ilse leave and Greta thanks Lily and wants her
to be around all the time. (whatever happened to the sickly Lily
and her hired nurse/companion, haha). Austin arrives and Lily
leaves. Greta and Austin chat about how she'll need his help
placing the orphans. They're told the security detail said they
need to leave now and off they go.
In The Ballroom
Different invited guests arrive. (Ambassador and Mrs. Davis, Lord
and Lady Sheridan (Leslie-Ann Down and Ian Buchanan), then Bo,
Hope and Shawn approach to be announced and Bo gives his
invitation to the greeter. The greeter compliments Hope as to how
beautiful she is and announces Bo and Shawn Brady and Princess
Gina Van Amberg (guess he didn't read the card or remember Gina's
DEAD?) Everyone looks shocked, including the Brady's (well, duh..what
did you guys think after the last couple of years as a Gina look
alike? Did you change brains with Austin? It appears so!) Bo
suggests they leave as everyone gasps, but Hope announces to the
room that PG has passed on and they just look alike. She
identifies herself and the 3 Brady's walk into the room. John
arrives solo and tells the Brady's that Marlena wasn't feeling
well, but would join him later before the coronation. Shawn asks
about the girls, and John assures him they wouldn't want to
arrive with parents and will be there later. Shawn goes off to
check out the eats while John asks why people are looking at Hope.
They tell him how she was announced and Hope figures it might
help stir some PG memories. John tells her to leave those
memories in the past where they belong. Bo understands and John
asks how so. Bo tells him he knows that John's gone through the
same Stefano trauma as Hope has. Bo apologizes to John for his
actions about JT and realizes he was just helping Hope. Hope
interrupts telling Bo saying she wants to dance and glances at
John from the ballroom floor. Jack is disguised as a waiter,
awaiting Jen's arrival. He glides to the waltz music and munches
on an appetizer off the tray he's hiding behind, lol. Lord and
Lady Sheridan ask for one of his appetizers and he tells them no
and to get one off the vegetable tray as it's better for them .
He says his are horrible as he gulps one and waltzes off.
Contessa Dorothea De Lyman (Dorothy Lyman) arrives and a male
guest (Tyler Christopher) greets her and they talk about the last
time they saw each other was in NYC. John asks the waiter for a
glass of champagne, but Jack keeps walking with the tray. John
wonders where Greta gets her help, lol. Mimi arrives and gives
her invitation to the greeter (she got her OWN invitation?).
Before being announced she sees Shawn and waves to him and joins
him. He tells her how nice she looks.
Sami, Angela & Brandon Prepare
After hearing that Sami and Brandon are in love, Vincent has
added Sami to Sal's hit list (geez, don't want to get on this
man's bad side). Sami shows up at Brandon and Angela's room in
her disguise (black and white matronly gown with a lace mask (which
won't be too obvious I'm sure. She has a Martha Washington type
of hairstyle too). Angela deems Sami as looking "frumpy"
(it's definitely not a Sami gown, haha). Angela isn't sure she
can lie as well as Sami and worried her papa will know that she
betrayed him. Brandon convinces her they must. They toast for
good luck and someone knocks on the door. It's Papa Moroni.
Brandon holds him in the hall while Sami hides in the bathroom.
Vincent sees the door close to the bathroom and asks WHO's in
there. (nosey, isn't he?) Brandon tells him the maid as Angela
doesn't like wet towels on the floor. Not good enough answer and
Vincent asks Angela when she's become so fastidious (a word
Angela doesn't understand, haha) and asks who's in the bathroom
again and goes to look for himself when Angela intentionally
spills her champagne on her gown and yelps. Moroni stops and
Brandon assures Angela they'll have the designer bring her a new
gown to wear tonight. Angela asks Moroni to leave so she can do
that and he agrees. Sami comes out of the bathroom and thanks
her, telling Angela she owes her one and Angela tells her more
than one. Brandon makes sure the coast is clear and Sami leaves.
Vincent tells the hit men he doesn't want to leave until Angela's
dress arrives at the hotel.
Belle & Mimi Get Ready
Belle and Mimi are still getting ready. Mimi's got a few HUGE
rollers in her hair. She has a new collar length hair cut (cute),
and apparently the glue is gone now. She holds up her gown (wow,
for such short notice for the trip (and as Lilly's hired girl
especially), she has a nice gown!) Belle tells Mimi it didn't
bother her a bit seeing Shawn kiss her. Mimi's glad as she says
Shawn was turned on during the kiss and even moaned a little.
Belle insists he didn't and she was there to know. Later, in
their gowns and hair done (why did Mimi have rollers in? Her hair
is pulled down and even bereted on one side) Mimi tries to get
Belle to sell Shawn on her. Mimi's got on a strapless blue gown
and Belle a pink one with straps. I like Belle's hair with curls
and older hair style. Mimi won't give up until Belle agrees to
help her with Shawn and rushes off to the coronation alone. Belle
wonders if Mimi was right and Shawn does have feelings for her
best friend.
Showdown At The Kiriakis Room
Kate shows up at Victor's room. She wants to explain for both his
and Philip's sake. Victor asked about her "R&R"
with Moroni and they talk about Vincent's conditions to give her
the tape. She makes it sound like Vincent demanded she sleep with
him. If Victor will give Vincent the territory, she can get the
tape and then she, Philip and Victor can be a family again (oh
yeah, right Kate!). Victor calls her a piece of work, but Kate
tries to connive Victor to help her get the tape (what a ho).
She's sure she can make everything all right with Philip again.
She asks if their son's happiness isn't worth his damn territory?
They argue about who's got Philip's interest more to heart. They
both remind each other how they both started from the bottom up (in
their own special way) and then she tells him she loves him and
doesn't want anything to happen to him. He asks like what? She
insists she cares about Victor and reiterates all he has to do is
trade the property for the tape. Victor orders her to leave and
he'd never be able to trust her again. She pulls his face to hers
and kisses him, telling him to remember that and he wipes his
lips as she leaves. Philip and Chloe sit in a restaurant and talk
about what he saw. She suggests they not go to the coronation,
but he wants to be there for his father. She tells him he's
learning what she's known all along, you can't trust anyone.
Philip suggests they leave as he wants to be at the coronation
for his father.
Back At The Coronation
A few orphans arrive with Ingrid and Ilse. She sends the kids
into the ballroom alone and comments how the Princess will be
upset there's no money for the orphans. (I think Ingrid and
Charles should BOTH be banished myself!) Sami arrives. Ingrid
turns and looks at her and asks for her invitation. Sami hands
her one and it satisfies Ingrid. Sami's glad Brandon was so
thorough.Bo and Hope are waltzing and having a grand time when
she gets a little dizzy and has a flashback of a former time when
dancing in a white gown with someone. Bo tells her she's
remembering as the credits roll.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2001***
Lexie lets Stefano know how unhappy this is making her,
and the Coronation Ball takes up most of the show. Forgive me,
but I just have to describe this in the snippets of scenes, which
is how the ball progresses. The scenes go back and forth so much,
it is hard to keep track.
Episode #8987 (Sweetened)
Directed by: Herb Stein
Tape Date: 1/23/01
Some Salemites Are Still Primping.......
In their hotel room Lexie is unhappily commenting on being
covered with diamonds and it is way too much. Stefano tries to
talk to her about the European lifestyle, and she will come to
love it, but Lexie wants none of it. As they prepare to leave,
she wants to check on Marlena, and knocks at her door. Marlena,
who had been flashing back to conversations between Hope and John
about JT and murmuring how she just cannot handle it anymore, is
now dressed for the ball. Lexie bolsters Marlena's confidence and
she finally decides to go to the ball. Meanwhile, Jennifer is
unhappily looking out the window at Paris below. She calls Alice
and scolds her for finding Jack and telling him where she was.
Alice scolds her right back, telling her Jack is Abby's father,
and she should at least talk to him. Jen hangs up, and decides to
forego the festivities, just stay in her room reading and eating
bonbons. (LOL) The phone rings, and the security guard at the
other end (our rascal Jack) tells Jen that they ejected a man who
came looking for her, and it is safe to come. Jennifer is
delighted, but not ready, however, with the aid of speedy
filming, (this was so funny, like in those old silent movies) Jen
is dressed, hair fixed, and out the door.
At The Ball...........
Many of the guests are waltzing, music is playing and the Marquis
& Marquessa of LaCieniga (I just love some of these in-joke
titles) arrive (this is Bobbie Eakes and.....sorry, I know this
actor, but his name escapes me). Some great camera shots from
different angles and overhead. Jack, as a waiter, is still
carrying trays and looking for Jen. Mimi is talking to Shawn as
Belle arrives, and his eyes light up. After some small talk,
Belle is finding herself unhappy about Mimi going on about Shawn,
and finds her Dad. They dance, then a young Frenchman asks for a
dance. They bump into Mimi and Shawn dancing. Chloe asks Philip
to tell her of his "mystery" plan, but he keeps mum. (They
must have used the same speed filming as Jen to have gotten back
to their hotel, dressed to the nines, and gotten to the ball so
quickly. LOL. Wonder where Chloe got all the jewelry?) Lord and
Lady Sheraton are milling around, trying to get an hors'd'eurve
or glass of champagne from waiter Jack. Charles is lurking,
waiting for Greta to appear as he keeps mumbling to himself about
ending her reign. Hope tells Bo how she remembers dancing with a
man in a similar situation, wearing a white dress. Bo tells her
it is all in the past, and they are living for now. John
overhears this conversation. Stefano and Lexie arrive at the
ball, and within a few seconds so does Marlena. Stefano offers to
escort them both in, but Marlena says no, her husband would not
approve. She enters, hands in her invitation. (But she is NOT
announced) A bit later, Bo, Hope and John talk and Bo tells John
he realizes that John was just trying to be there for Hope when
Bo wasn't, and to show no hard feelings, tells him to dance with
Hope. John is hesitant but Hope grabs his hand and they go out to
the ballroom. John & Hope discuss JT, and Hope tells him how
well JT is doing. And that she understands the sacrifice he is
making. He tells her she does not, and talks of JT's conception.
That it was out of passion, the passion and love and lust between
Princess Gina and her mercenary. He tells her he would never tell
anyone else, only Marlena knows, and as Hope thanks him for
everything, she kisses him on the cheek. They hear "Guess
this is what I get for being late" and turn to find Marlena,
who then makes a few sarcastic remarks. Hope leaves and John
tells Doc how much he loves her, and eventually softens her up,
making her forget how upset she had been. The hit men are
circulating, pictures in hand, looking for their targets. One
bumps into Philip, drops his picture of Victor, but Phillip does
not notice. He goes off with Chloe, and the picture is retrieved
safely. Sami is popping up here and there, still intent on her
custody battle. (Now why does no one comment on this black lace
mask she is wearing, this is not a masquerade ball or Mardi Gras?)Jack
is stumbling around looking for Jen, and accidentally stumbles,
making the orphans think he is a clown! (Gotta love Jack, cannot
help it!) He panics everytime he spots the Bradys, John, etc.
Greta and Austin arrive outside the ballroom. She is nervous, and
wants to leave to get a pizza, she needs a pepperoni fix. (LOL)
She is afraid they will forever feed her nothing but caviar and
champagne. Austin calms her fears, promising her that anytime she
wants pizza, he is just a phone call away. He removes her cape,
revealing a beautiful dress with the obligatory royal red sash.
Ingrid introduces her, prefacing her remarks with comments about
Princess Gina's philanthropic nature. Greta makes her entrance........think
of My Fair Lady and Audrey Hepburn at the ball.........and Austin
accompanies her on the "Royal Walk" between the
separated throngs of guests. Greta greets various people, Lord
& Lady Sheraton, the Marquis & Marquessa, always
introducing Austin. Sami is smouldering as she observes all this.
As Princess Greta chooses Austin for the first royal dance, Sami
turns green with envy, muttering that no way is Greta gonna have
Austin, and that as soon as she gets custody of Will, she will
get Austin back. Austin takes Greta into a side room for a bit of
quiet time, and one of the orphans comes in, followed by Ingrid.
They all go back into the ball, but Ingrid once again mentions
the lack of money for the orphans. Jennifer arrives, and meets up
with Bo and Hope. The gals exchange compliments on how they look,
and a good looking man asks Jen to dance. Jack spots her, and
leaves to shed his waiter attire. A bit later, Jen turns and
literally bumps into Jack. She wants to know what he is doing
there, and he gives her his French accented security inspector
voice. He tells her that he scammed her, so she would come. (Gosh
the sparks between these two!!!) Charles pulls aside a drape, and
draws his gun, commenting on how he has the "perfect shot".
He takes aim at a waltzing Greta.....Freeze frame.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2001***
All coronation today as everyone has arrived and words
are exchanged before the action begins. Jack and Jen have some
verbal sparring that they're known for and do so well.
Episode #8988 (Sweetened)
Directed by: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: 1/24/01
The Coronation Continues
As Greta and Austin dance, Hope and Lexie notice that it's Jack
that Jen's talking too. Stefano joins them and asks about Bo.
Hope informs him that Bo's calling home to check on the baby (the
whole show?) and excuses herself to talk with someone (Jack).
Some high heels walk up to the greeter and oh my goodness, you
won't believe the "dress?" Nicole is wearing. It's
essentially a green halter and panties with filmy green see-through
chiffon as her dress. She's wearing a long blonde fall. (she'd be
a knock out at a costume party or Emmy Awards, but a royal
coronation??) People stare, but Victor assures her she looks
beautiful. Vic is more worried about Philip. Nicole assures
Victor that one way or the other, Kate will be out of his life
forever after tonight. The hit men see their targets, Victor and
the boss man's son in law, but don't see Sami Brady. Vincent
warns Kate to give Brandon a wide berth and why. She tells him
about her paying Sal to kill Sami and he assures her that he
knows. He proudly calls it a massacre and Victor overhears. He
asks Kate if she's celebrating a little prematurely. Kate
suggests the two men sit down and work things out. Vincent
compliments Victor on his choice of women and Nicole spews back
that Vincent likes Victor's leftovers and how Kate likes rich
men, however Kate's last conquest was a 26 year old buck. When
push comes to shove, Kate likes older men with fat wallets.
Vincent doesn't like that and goes toward Nicole, telling her to
watch her mouth. Victor warns Vincent he'd be a dead man if he
lays a finger on Nicole, but Vincent tells them they'll find out
who'll be a dead man as Victor smirks. He sees Philip and joins
him. Philip's worried about what's going to happen and assures
his son everything will be okay, nothing will happen to him.
Philip's not so sure who he trusts, but agrees to go along with
his father's plan.
Nicole follows Kate into the ladies room and calls her a high
priced hooker (judging by their respective outfits, I wouldn't
say that). Kate throws back it takes one to know one! LOL! Nicole
tells Kate how she and Victor are getting closer each day and how
Victor knows she's better for him in EVERY way then Kate is. Kate
tells Nicole she's not just delusional, but mad as well and
that'll never happen. Nicole leaves saying never to say never.
In another room, Philip nervously watches the time while Chloe
still is clueless as to what's going on. Belle wants to know
what's up. She tells them she had more fun at the high school
dance and Philip and Chloe tease her, but agree they did too.
Belle tells them how Shawn is in the corner giving Mimi french
lessons. They both stare in amazement and Philip tells Belle it's
her own fault for giving Shawn the wrong signals. Chloe agrees.
Belle assures them she's only friends with Shawn, but the duo
know that's not true and Chloe tells her she wouldn't be so upset
about Shawn and Mimi being together then. Belle asks what they
were talking about and Chloe says how you can't trust anyone,
especially adults and their game playing. Philip wishes he could
just forget about that and leaves to go see his father (see above).
Belle sits in a chair and feels like she's going solo these days.
Chloe wants to go investigate what's going on and although Belle
pretends disinterest, Chloe knows better and they head back. They
see Shawn and Mimi in the garden (we don't) and go back inside.
Chloe tells Belle how good a friend she is, even if she doesn't
show it all the time. Belle needed to hear that and thanks Chloe.
Watching Philip talk to his father, Chloe tells Belle she feels
that something bad is going to happen.
Brandon and Angela arrive. She's changed to a low cut burgandy
gown. Elsewhere, Kate and Moroni talk about the upcoming hit when
Greta gets crowned. Lilly wanders over near to Sami and comments
how wonderful a royal couple Greta and Austin make. She thinks
Greta found her Prince. Sami thinks not. Brandon wants to go see
Sami, but Angela stops him when she sees her papa enter. Brandon
can't worry about her father now and goes to see Sami. (isn't
that a little obvious with him talking to her?) He's heard
something's in the works and she wants him to find out what.
Greta and Austin talk about her happy reign ahead as Charles
tells himself, why wait? Sami moves and stands in front of him
though. The dance finishes and Ingrid decides now's the time to
talk to her highness. Greta wants to announce her biological
father's name tonight after she's crowned. Austin agrees that's a
good idea. Ingrid acknowledges Greta's progress in her journey. A
boy orphan brings her flowers. Austin says the thing they learned
is the orphans will win. Ingrid informs them that the Von Amberg
estate is not as solvent as they had thought and that the money
does not exist for the orphans She tells them the Prince was
quite eccentric. Austin is furious as Greta didn't care about the
title, only the children. Greta tells them she'll use her own
money and sell the castles then for them. Ingrid tells her that's
not possible and for Greta to think what she must do. After
Ingrid leaves, Austin realizes that was a riddle.
Kathleen Noone and Rosco Born arrive (don't have close captioning
and hard to understand his royal name, but similar to his real
one). She's Dame K. Whitty and happy to be away from the kids in
Santa Barbara. They, along with other guests, lurk in the
background.
Jack & Jen
Jen (in her own rapid way) tells Jack that she doesn't want him
there and suggests he go see the Eiffel Tower and maybe even jump
off it (LOL). She tells him she's in Paris to have fun and if he
thinks she's going to just jump in his lap he has another thing
coming as she's been there and done that! Hope interrupts and
hugs Jack, telling him how glad she is to see him. She realizes
she interrupted something and offers to leave them alone, but Jen
tells her cousin that's the last thing she wants and rushes off,
with Jack following. Hope tells herself some things never change
(thank goodness ;-) Jen finds an empty room and collapses on the
couch. When Jack walks in, she tells him to leave her alone. He
gets upset how he dropped everything to be there and wants to see
his daughter, now. She tells him she didn't leave Abby in a hotel
room on the left bank, she's at HOME in Salem. Jack tells her
that's changing and she didn't have the right to take their
daughter and leave Africa. She reminds him she did after what
happened there. All he wanted was to get rich and without doing
any work. His selling stocks in a copper mind that went bust in
the 70's, in So. Africa he marketed scuba gear so he could surf,
then in Pretoria he left quickly. He was living the high life and
ducking his responsibilities. He claims it's the same old song,
but the lyrics are getting old and she should download some new
material (lol). She claims he's the not so charming Jack Deveraux.
She tells him she and Abby have gotten rid of a piece of baggage
and there's no going back. He has no intention of going back
anyway he says, much to her surprise. He wants to see his
daughter and Jen challenges him as to all he did tonight. She
tells him he's self centered and she hate him. He gets upset and
she tells them they're done. He follows her and they call each
other cowards when the frenchman she danced with earlier
interrupts. Jack refuses to leave until they've worked out their
problem. She tells Jack to leave her alone and he returns to the
ballroom, saying it's not over. The frenchman asks Jen for
another spin on the dance floor and she agrees. She looks around
anxiously for Jack before dancing.
Hope and Lexie meet up again and they talk. Hope admires Lexie's
jewelry and notices Lexie's not herself tonight. Lexie wishes her
father and Abe could get along better and is distraught. Stefano
joins them and assures his daughter everything will be fine and
to trust him. She tells him she does as Hope glares at Stefano.
She pulls Lexie aside and is told Lexie is just nervous about her
baby. She assures Lexie the baby is fine with Abe and Celeste.
She warns Lexie not to trust Stefano.
Brandon notes Moroni is watching him and worries about Sami, but
returns to Angela. Sami bumps into one of the hit men, who asks
if he knows her. She walks away, saying she's hungry. Brandon
returns to Angela and Moroni, who criticizes Brandon for leaving
his bride. Brandon apologizes to his wife and Moroni assures him
things will work out and walks away. Angela is smart enough to
keep Brandon from being close to Sami.
The hitman recognized Sami through her disguise and now knows
where all his targets are. Charles watches through the curtains
as Austin gets up on the stage to make an announcement. No one
stops dancing however as he says this, but Charles watches as the
credits roll.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2001**
No bullets flying yet, but the tension mounts as the
coronation draws near. Most of the focus today is on the Roberts/Reeds/Kiriakis
bunch. Nary a Horton, Brady or Black to be seen, except for
Jennifer and Belle. Everything is so jumbled up, I am going to
try and report it somewhat chronologically.
Episode #8989 (Sweetened)

The Coronation Continues
Austin tries to continue with his speech, but no one seems to be
listening until someone gets him a microphone. The guests stop
their dancing and milling around and listen. Brandon and Angela
are out in the hallway going over their plan to snatch the tape.
She doesn't like the idea of betraying her father. Sal keeps an
eye on Sami, who is sure that no one has recognized her. Vincent
is growing impatient and ready to get it over with. Kate is still
trying to convince him to stop the hit on Victor. Jennifer Lopez
(oops, I mean Nicole) gets a bit rattled and suggests that she,
Victor and Philip just leave and forget about their plan. Chloe
has a feeling that something bad is going to happen which scares
Belle and they go off to talk privately. Some Frechman is hitting
on Jen (who totally ignores him as she scans the crowd for Jack.)
Austin goes on with his announcement as Greta and Ingrid try to
stop him. He tells Greta that she has trusted him this far and
not to give up on him now. He is sure he is doing the right thing.
There are a few inside jokes thrown around between guests. (For
instance the contessa (Maeve Kinkaid) is talking to a man (can't
remember his real name) and he makes a comment about it being
"another world out there". (I assume he is from that
show). Austin goes on and on about their experiences and how they
have learned that there is no money to help the orphans (as the
hitmen and Vincent grow impatient, one of them even offers to
take Austin out.) As he explains, everyone is shocked and upset.
Jennifer becomes emotional as someone hands her a hanky. You
guessed it, Jack. She sees him and scurries off.
Sami just hopes that Austin doesn't ruin everything for her. Sal
points out Sami to the other hitman as Nicole recognizes her as
well. Sami takes off as Nicole follows her. She confronts her in
the hallway as Sami tries to pretend she is Madame DeWitt. Well,
Nicole can see through her just as easily as we can see through
Nicole's dress(?). She wants to know what Sami is up to and Sami
begs her not to give her away. Sami says that she doesn't know
how she will ever repay Brandon. Nicole informs her that she
doesn't have to, Brandon loves her. Nicole pushes Brandon and
downs Austin, but there is no persuading Sami, who informs her
that Austin is HERS.
Out in the hallway, Angela continues to smooch Brandon chattering
about how lucky she is. Sal sees them and refers to it as their
last kiss. Angela mentions Brandon's father and how she would
like to meet him someday. This infuriates him and swears that he
is nothing like that "bastard". He settles down and
apologizes to her for his outburst. She wants to talk about
children so he suggests that they return to the party.
In another room, Jack catches up with Jen and they have a rapid-fire
sparring match. (Hey, they are really good at this). She swears
that she wants nothing to do with him. (He thinks that it is HE
who made her cry). She calls him a bunch of names, including
egotistical and immature. He informs her that he wants to see his
daughter and she tells him that if he does, go to Salem. They
continue to bicker and she tells him that he makes her want to
scream. He tells her that she owes him an explanation as to why
she ran in the first place and she informs him that she owes him
NOTHING. She tells him that she is NOT his wife anymore and he
makes her sick. She lays it on to Jack pretty heavy as he wants
to talk about custody of Abby. She is infuriated and tells him
that he should just get a lawyer. He vows to return to Salem and
she refuses to even fly on the same plane with him. As she storms
off, he begins to plot to find out what her flight number is.
Belle takes Chloe into another room to cross-examine her as to
what is going on, but Chloe refuses to tell her what little she
knows, because she can't betray Philip. She explains that she and
Philip have something special and Belle assumes that they have
had sex. Chloe straightens her out and their conversation turns
toward sex as both discuss how they both are a bit scared by the
idea, especially Chloe. Belle talks about her honesty and
compares her to Brady. Well, this doesn't sit well with Chloe, so
Belle retracts her comments as Chloe resents even being compared
to him. She begins to get worried and wonders where Philip is.
Kate gets upset and goes outside for air, to be followed by
Philip. He chews her out as she tries to explain her actions. He
doesn't want to hear any of it and tells her that she makes him
sick and can't understand how she did this to his father. She
wants him to hear her side of the story as she swears that she
still loves Victor and wants to marry him. Philip storms off as
Kate says that she is not a murderer and must put a stop to this.
Austin tells the guests that they need their help and to open
their checkbooks. Lord and Lady Sheraton start the ball rolling
by pledging $1 million dollars. Victor immediately matches their
pledge as other guests jump into the pledging frenzy. Vincent
also pledges a million. The pledging goes on almost through the
entire show as these other conversations continue. Eventually,
near the end of the show, Austin informs everyone that they have
exceeded their goal of $100 million and thanks everyone for their
generosity. He and Greta hug (Nicole points this out to Sami as
she seethes.) She calls Greta a Cinderella wanna-be and swears
that Austin is hers. Nicole makes a crack about getting back to
her "sugar daddy" which Sami catches. She says she was
only kidding, but Sami thinks not. Behind the curtain the wizard
(oops, Charles) grows impatient. Ingrid takes the microphone and
assures everyone that the coronation ceremony will begin shortly.
Kate rushes back inside and finds Vincent. She tells him that it
must stop, the hit on Victor must NOT happen. He tells her that
he is sorry, but it's too late and the credits roll.
