All in Paris today as families reunite, Philip is told
about his mother and Sami gets more comfortable with a gun.
Episode #8980
Directed by: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: 1/11/01
All In Paris Today
Java Café, Parisian Style (Except It's Inside)
Belle, Shawn and Mimi (who found a pretty beret in the airport
apparently) stop at a cafÈ for some breakfast. After remembering
their last adventurous trip Paris, Shawn goes for some cafÈ au
lait for them, Mimi informs Belle that she thinks Shawn should be
Belle's date for the coronation. Shawn overhears Mimi and Belle
talking about Belle going out with someone and Shawn asks who.
They laugh and have fun with some French phrases and words of
endearment. Cute scene. Mimi has a little pity party and Belle
and Shawn try to cheer her up and claim self-confidence is the
key. (Shawn read it in a women's magazine at one of JT's doctor's
appointments, haha) Mimi needs Shawn's help. She wants Shawn to
say something sweet to her in French so she can tell her mom that
some cute guy said something sweet to her in a french cafÈ.
Shawn goes over and kneels next to Mimi and says my petite
something or other and kisses her (Belle is not happy about that,
haha).
Coronation Preparation And Family Get-togethers
Ingrid shows Austin and Greta the preparations for the coronation.
They are in awe as Greta hopes she'll live up to expectations and
admits being swept off her feet. To lighten the mood, Austin
literally sweeps her up and twirls her mega times (whoa, I'm
dizzy), asking if that's the way to ask a princess to dance.
Greta is laughing and Ingrid smiles watching. Also watching is
Lily and Kate, who agree Austin and Greta are good together. Lily
is glad Greta is over Eric and Kate includes Sami as the horrible
Brady twins. Kate greets her son and after he closes his mouth in
surprise, hugs and kisses his mother. Greta squeals when she sees
Lily and hugs her. Austin wonders if his mother came alone and
asks where's Victor?
Ingrid introduces Greta's lady in waiting (oh brother) who runs
off to fetch Lily a cuppa. Lily informs Greta how the plane
flight of Salemites was an awkward one. Greta is surprised,
thinking the group were good friends. Lily hopes Lexie will keep
Stefano under control. Greta agrees and they both smile, agreeing
Austin was the right person to go with Greta on her trip. Lily
reminds Greta that Austin will be standing next to her, not Sami,
when she gets her crown. Charles watches from outside (hey, why's
it dark outside when the teens are just having breakfast?). He
vows that Greta will never wear that crown. Greta tells Lily that
she has different feelings for Austin than she did for Eric. Lily
is happy to hear that and reminds Greta about Eric and Nicole.
She tells Greta she has more class in her fingernail than Sami
and Nicole combined. Greta finally admits she does love Austin to
Lily. Charles is angry about being discharged after her family
has been the core of his existence and vows to put a bullet, not
a crown, in Greta's head as he has his gun in his hand. (guess a
full pension and time to do what he wants isn't good enough for
him)
Kate tells Austin about the Mexican earthquake and complains
about Sami, saying Sami's going to wreck the lives of everyone he
loves. She's tells him that Sami is still claiming that she and
Lucas were involved in Franco's murder and how negligent Sami was
with Will by not calling or being there for him over the past
months. Later we come back to Kate asking Austin if he's falling
in love with Greta. He denies it and resents her trying to tell
him what he feels. She tells him she saw them together and asks
what his true feelings are. Austin has a flashback of when he and
Greta stepped out on the balcony to the music fireworks and dance.
Ingrid interrupts, needing to talk with Austin about his role in
the coronation and he leaves Kate to think how Greta will help
Austin while he mourns Sami's untimely death.
At The Hotel
Victor and Nicole talk about Kate and how he'll tell Philip
what's going on. Philip arrives and Nicole leaves to let Victor
and Philip talk. (I like Vic's lavendar colored tie) Vic tells
his son that he and Kate are not going to get married again (were
they ever REALLY married?). Philip gets upset, not understanding
what's going on. Victor tells Philip about Nicholas and how close
he and Kate came to having an affair. (Philip had heard rumors
about that from some of the secretaries at Titan) He tells Philip
how Kate is already in Paris with another man. She's with Vincent
Moroni, a mobster, and they're going to the coronation together.
Philip asks what's going to happen to him now and Victor tells
him he'll stay at the mansion of course. Philip asks what if he
doesn't want to and gets a reality check as Victor shows his son
the codicil to the will to read. Philip sees everything that
Victor has, including Philp's trust, goes to his mother in case
of his father's death, and figures that shows his father loves
his mother until Victor tells him that he didn't have the codicil
drawn up, his mother did. Oops.
Back To The Café
Brandon, Sami and Angela stop on the way to see Papa Moroni.
Brandon gives Sami the custody of the gun when he runs an errand.
Angela asks what about her protection and he tells her that she's
a Moroni and won't need any protection.
Brandon meets up with Nicole at a cafÈ. She tells him she's
divorced now and he fills her in on what he's up to helping Sami
with the tape. She's surprised to hear about Vincent being in the
mob and demands he tell her everything, especially about Kate.
Nicole tells Brandon about Lucas' admitting his guilt and how she
had it on tape, but Lucas found the wire and destroyed the tape.
(full flashback of that scene) After making sure his sister is
ok, Brandon wished she had told him before so he wouldn't have
had to marry Angela. She asks why on earth would he marry a woman
he didn't love (duh, she did the same, just for money with Lucas)
He confesses loving Samantha. Nicole and Brandon share barbs
about what they've done for money and love. She informs him that
she may be a cold, hard hearted bitch, but compared to his
Samantha, she's a saint! Brandon's sure that he and Sami will be
together one day.
Vincent answers the door (Sami's hiding around the corner) and
Angela starts crying. He wonders what Brandon did to her. She
tells her father it's not Brandon, but him. He doesn't love her
anymore. She asks for the tape after crying. Sami listens through
the crack in the door (no goons protecting the place?) Vincent
tells his daughter that the tape means more to him than to her or
Brandon. He explains how Kate has promised to give him back his
territory and that would be a good move for her and Brandon's
future. She realizes it would mean killing Victor and begs her
father not to do that and to trust her instincts instead. He
starts to hand her the tape and changes his mind, saying Brandon
married her without the tape and loves her. Vincent's lonely and
needs someone in his life and feels Kate could be that person.
She asks what about Sami and he tells her Sami can go to hell!
That's all it took for Sami as she opens the door, points the gun
at Vincent and tells the "bastard" to give her that
tape or she'll blow his head off as the credits roll.

Sami is surprised, Philip is shocked and Greta and Austin
surrounded by matchmakers.
Episode #8981

All In France Again Today
Greta & Austin
Greta and Lily sip their tea as Greta admits loving Austin. While
Greta tries to tell Lily that she and Austin are just friends,
Lily is all set to help Greta's dream come true. Greta gets
summoned by Ingrid for last minute guest invites, but Lily
insists on going in her place. She suggests Greta bone up on
protocol and be near Austin.
On the other side of the room, Kate doesn't just hint to Austin
about marrying Greta, she's pushing for them to be engaged before
the coronation. Whoa, Austin tells mom, he's involved with Sami
and Greta's just a friend. Actually, he doesn't trust himself to
know what loving a woman really means and doesn't trust his
feelings any more. Love the magic words Kate says next, Trust Me
(ha, yeah, right!) She tells him that his life, their lives, are
going to make a change for the better (yeah, after she has Victor
and Sami killed). While Austin tries to tell his mom that Greta
is more like a "buddy", she continues to sell Austin on
being with Greta. He looks at Greta watching him and wonders if
his mom is right.
Lily Takes Over
Lily returns quickly and recommends Greta would be better to be
less obvious and more stand offish. Austin interrupts (not
hearing their discussion) and offers to help if needed. Lily
leaves, but watches as Greta kiddingly banishes Austin from her
kingdom. He falls to his knees begging her to reconsider (both
are laughing) as Lily realizes they both are in love. Ingrid
summons Greta again and Greta insists on going. Lily disagrees,
but when Austin insists on going with Greta, Lily smiles as she
watches them walk away laughing. She sees Charles lurking and
reminds him that he was discharged. She refers to Greta as the
princess and he tells her he came to apologize to the princess
personally and Lily takes no lip. She tells him he blew it and
not to come back. He walks out calling Lily a meddling old bat
and no one treats him that way.
Austin levels with Greta that he has never had such a beautiful
"buddy". He promises to never do anything that would
hurt her. He asks his buddy for a favor, to leave for a glass of
wine before they're summoned again. She agrees and they sneak out
as Charles walks in with his gun. He mumbles that the princess
better enjoy what short time she has left. (Doesn't that palace
have any guards?)
Back At The Hotel
Victor tells Philip how Kate did the codicil without his
knowledge. Of course Philip blames Victor for not marrying his
mother before all this came about. He still hopes his dad will
marry his mom. Philip leaves to digest what's happening when
Nicole arrives. Victor tells Nicole he didn't tell his son about
Kate's plan to kill his father on top of everything else. Nicole
shares with him what she learned from Brandon about Kate and
Moroni. Poor Vic realizes this is all really true and like
Philip, had hoped it wasn't. Victor realizes Moroni's probably
already got a contract out on him. He assures Nicole that Kate
will lose everything, including her son. He's touched that Nicole
just didn't take the million and leave as she could of. Nicole
levels she'd like nothing better than to see Kate locked up for
life. When Victor learns that Kate is staying at Moroni's
townhouse (and he assumes Moroni's bed), he grabs his coat and
plans to confront her. Nicole stops him and he apologizes for
treating her the way he had. She tells him not to be sorry, just
treat her better from now on (starting right now as she takes off
both his coat and hers as they fall on the bed - must be that
Parisian tea, haha).
Back At Moroni's Townhouse
Sami stares Vincent in the eyes and cocks her gun. She tells him
she'll take the tape whether he's dead or alive. He challenges
her and tells her he doesn't think she's able to kill anyone,
even Franco. Bingo, called her bluff and takes the gun from her
as Sami collapses (literally) in tears as Vincent holds and
comforts her in his arms. She levels with him that all she wants
is her son and to get him away from his drunken father and cold
hearted bitch of a grandmother. Vincent promises to help Sami get
her son back after he gets what he wants from Kate, but Sami
tells him that won't happen. Convincing him it's not him she
doesn't trust, but Kate. She refers to Kate as a black widow who
mates and then kills, LOL. Kate always gets what she wants, but
Vincent tells Sami he must help his family first, and then will
help her get her son back. Kate struts in and Vincent excuses
Sami and Angela. Vincent comes on to Kate and after a few kisses,
she slips off his jacket as they fall to the floor (hello, didn't
he have a heart problem? The Black Widow will kill her mate
before getting what she wants if she's not careful, haha).
Le Café
A replay of Shawn's magnetic smooch which Mimi deems as
magnifique. Belle is not amused and accuses Shawn of thinking
highly of himself as a good kisser. He offers to prove it to her.
After he steps away for something, Mimi has hopes that Shawn
cares for her while Belle tries to convince Mimi that she herself
could care less about Shawn. Mimi pleads with Belle to help her
out in getting Shawn to take her out for dinner in Paris. Belle
spots Philip walking in and knows something is wrong as they
greet him at the door. Mimi keeps accusing Chloe of doing
something to upset him (where IS Chloe?) and Shawn joins them,
also sensing something is wrong. Philip finally tells them his
parents are splitting up. Belle hugs him in sympathy, while Mimi
tactfully asks who's dumping who and wants details (doesn't she
have Lily to take care of?). He tells them his dad is the one
ending it Shawn suggests that his folks need to meet and talk
about everything. They all agree and sit down to try and find out
where Kate is.
Sami is disguised with a scarf and sunglasses in the back of the
cafÈ. (anyone else watch The Fugitive and wonder why HE doesn't
wear disguises? Sorry, just bugs the heck out of me, haha) After
a flashback of her with Austin and then dancing with Brandon, she
vows not to let Kate win. Sami intercepts Philip as leaves the
cafÈ to call Henderson to see where his mom is. She writes down
the address of where Kate is for Philip after telling him she
didn't want anyone to know she's there, including her sister
Belle.. After Philip thanks her and rushes off, Sami nibbles on
some bread, feeling bad for Philip, but after all, Kate made her
lose her son, now Kate can lose hers. Philip notices the door
open to the townhouse and steps in without even knocking (would
you walk into a strange house that way). Moroni pops up (no shirt
on) and spots Philip, asking him WHAT? An embarrassed Philip
apologizes and backs out, but not before Kate pops up and is
shocked to see Philip there as the credits roll.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31, 2001**
Various twosomes have some deep conversations, Jen is off
to Paris, Brady begins his lawsuit, a bit of comedy relief from
Bart & Rolf (though it begins in a gruesome manner)
Episode #8982
Directed by: NA
Tape Date: NA
In Salem At Gran's.......
Jen is job hunting thru newpaper ads, as Alice questions why she
does not return to being a reporter. Jen explains that she no
longer can just pick up and go, as one must do. She has Abby to
consider, and talks of how she misses her job in Ireland, which
was perfect, since she lived upstairs over the pub and all. Alice
asks about the man Jen followed there, but Jen declines to talk
of him. Jen tells her how she feels her life is out of control,
and Alice replies she should not use Abby as an excuse for not
living her life. Gran tells her about being invited to the
coronation, and being unable to go, but suggests Jen go in her
place. Jen mentions she does not even know Greta, but Gran says
she would understand. Jen finally caves in and agrees to go,
citing how good Alice is at "Gramma guilt". Abby comes
in (yes, our first glimpse of the recast...shorter and dark hair)
and tells Jen that tomorrow is Father's day at school. Her mother
says lots of Daddy's will probably not be able to come, so not to
worry, but Abby says, at least those kids will know why. Abby
leaves, and Gran asks Jen is she has heard from Jack. Jen says
no, she has been avoiding him, but he has called Mom (hey, Laura
Horton IS still around) and she would not tell Jack where Jen was.
Jen goes upstairs to pack some clothes, and Alice quickly calls
her son, Bill Horton (Jen's dad). She brushes aside his "catch
up" talk, and asks for Jack's phone number.
In An Office.......
Brady is mouthing off to a woman about Marlena being the cause of
him being in the wheelchair, and she replies that "wicked
stepmother" is an old cliche. She turns out to be his
lawyer, Miss Reese, and Brady continues ranting about Roman,
Marlena and wanting to sue the Salem PD. She tells him that his
case is a "slam dunk", and no problem. He talks about
his mother, Isabella, his dad and Marlena, Roman, and really is
on a big time rant. He informs her that there is more to this
story than even Stephen King could imagine, and proceeds to give
her a "once upon a time there was a guy named Roman Brady"......story.
When he is done, he says he wants Marlena destroyed, and when it
comes to Roman, he wants her to know he just does not want a
monetary settlement.
At The Diner........
Fay is pouring coffee for Abe & Roman, who are discussing
Brady's lawsuit (must not be any crime in Salem if this is all
they talk about), and why it has not been filed. They argue about
Marlena, but Roman admits still loving her, and claims he was
hoping that Doc would see how much she needed him and go back to
him. False hopes, as it turned out. Fay has gone to the next
table where Hattie is sitting, covered with a kerchief and
sunglasses. Hattie is watching Roman and getting upset. She tells
Fay she soon will begin to remove her layers (of clothing) and
surprise everyone. She gets more upset hearing Roman go on about
Marlena, and abruptly gets up an leaves. Outside, she sits down
on a bench, removes the scarf and sunglasses and cries. She gets
out her phone and makes a call. (See below)
In The DiMera Mansion Basement
(Warning.....the beginning here is really GROSS)
Dr. Rolf, better known as the mad scientist, is presiding over a
giant vat of acid (Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble), stirring it
with a huge utensil. He is disposing of Marlo's bones, and Bart
hands him the last one. As Rolf gleefully stirs, Bart sings
.."them bones, them bones, them thigh bones". With
their task completed, they decide to celebrate by opening a
bottle of Stef's finest champagne. Rolf asks Bart if he ever
yearns for something more, and Bart replies he looks forward to
the new fall TV schedule! Says he is is very happy with his life.,
has a room here at the mansion, big TV, etc.(Some really comic
dialogue here) Rolf asks if he does not want love, and Bart gets
flustered, talking about how it must be his aftershave and Rolf
cannot have his body! LOLOL Rolf roars back that is not what he
meant, and confesses he sometimes longs for someone. Cue
flashback to him and Hattie. Rolf begins to hint of doing away
with Stefano, and Bart is shocked, saying that Rolf cannot mean
he wants to dispose of Stef in the vat of acid. Bart then talks
of not understanding about the baby switch and the WHY of it (neither
do we, Bart) and asks why Stefano hates the Bradys so much. Rolf
says it all goes back a long time ago in Ireland. Bart persists,
and Rolf says well, "the Bradys were responsible for the
deaths of people very close to Stefano". The phone rings and
it is Hattie calling Dr. Steiner. She is in tears, and Rolf tries
to calm her down. She insists she wants the rest of the plastic
surgery immediately, that it is an emergency, and she wants it
now. She says Marlena is so mean, that she has got to look
exactly like her right away. They agree to get together soon.
In Paris.........
In Stefano's Room.........
Lexie and Stefano argue heatedly about her being there with him,
and how her friends are looking at the situation. She is very
unhappy and wants to go back home, making a call for reservations
on next plane back. Stef stops her, telling her she must go to
the coronation, and rhapsodize about Paris and how much she feels
at home there. He continues on how she must hint at Abe retiring
and perhaps they will live in Paris permanently. Lexie balks at
this, but Stef begins painting a scenario of Marlo's body being
identified, her family coming to claim Isaac, and insists she
realize how much of a DiMeara she really is. Lexie finally agrees
to do anything to keep her baby.
Outside A Parisian Restaurant........
John & Marlena arrive 1/2 hour early for dinner, and talk of
waiting for Bo & Hope to arrive. They get a bit romantic, but
then John tells Marlena of the suit Brady is bringing on the
Salem PD. She is upset, especially when she realizes the attorney
is Cameron Reese, the crackerjack lawyer John hired away from a
firm in New York. She becomes even more upset at how their
relationship is going to suffer since John is siding with Brady,
and John explains how he promised Isabella to always take care of
their boy. Marlena wants to know just how much is she supposed to
take, citing the knowledge of John fathering a child by another
woman.
Bo & Hope are getting ready to leave for dinner, and Hope has
uneasy feelings about being in Paris, which was Princess Gina's
home. He mentions JT, and Hope tells him that as far as the
father of JT goes, for her it is Bo and she does not want to know
any more than that. They embrace, and Bo tells her the past as
Gina is over, and the two of them will now make new memories. Bo
and Hope join John and Marlena outside the restaurant, exchange a
few pleasantries, and Hope hears music. Marlena says it is coming
from the open restaurant window, and Hope remarks how familiar it
sounds. She turns around and says "I've been on this corner
before, and listening to that music"( a waltz) and as she
ponders this...........freeze frame.

Dining out in Paris as Marlena and John talk, Kate
changes her mind on the hit and Chloe falls for Stefano's charm.
Episode #8983
Directed by: Herb Stein
Tape Date: 1/17/01,
Philip's Surprise
A replay of Philip finding Vincent and Kate. Vincent calls Philip
"stupid" and tells him to get the hell out of there.
Kate apologizes to her son, but he dashes out the door. Kate
pushes Vincent away and tells him that was her son.. Later we
come back to her dressed and crying. She tells Moroni not to
touch her again (as he tries to comfort her), pushes him away and
runs out the door, calling for Philip. She sits outside, clasping
her fur. She tells herself she now can appreciate how desperate
Sami must be to have her son after now probably losing her own.
She figures Victor should not die now. Seeing her that way was
already too much for Philip, he can't lose his father too. She
runs off to stop the hit.Chloe, alone in her room, calls to find
out where everyone else is. She calls Victor and he recommends
that she go out and try to find Philip (sure, send a 16 year old
girl out alone in Paris, no big deal!) as he'll probably need her.
He asks her to call him later if she finds his son and let him
know how he's doing. Nicole calls him back to bed, but Vic's too
worried about his son. Nicole has a way to make Kate get what she
deserves after getting Victor's temper flared. She suggests he
get the tape from Moroni and then he can put Kate and her son in
prison forever. Victor refuses to give Moroni that infamous
territory back, but knows how to make him think he will do so.
Victor made some calls and he and Nicole toast glasses that Kate
will get what she deserves. Chloe has a flashback of her youth
where her foster father was mean and abusive, standing around in
his boxers and t-shirt, forced her to pick up after him. She
figures she's the last person Philip needs. She remembers dancing
with Philip and realizes if he needs her, maybe she should try to
find him. She steps out of her room going down one hallway, while
Philip approaches from another and knocks on her door, just
missing her. He goes to his room and crying, remembers seeing his
mother in Vincent's arm. He kicks a chair. He refers to what he
saw as "sick" and rushes out to look for Chloe.
Dining Out In Paris
Hope remembers being on that corner and hearing that music with
Bo. She remembers dancing with him on the street and feels their
love would always prevail, not even Stefano's mind control could
block it. John and Marlena step inside the restaurant to give the
newlyweds some privacy. Hope and Bo talk about JT and how proud
of him they are. She tells him JT will be in their hearts and
lives forever. Bo agrees and they hug.As John and Marlena sit at
their table, they spot Lexie and Stefano (good grief of ALL the
restaurants in Paris). John offers to change restaurants, but
Marlena refuses to give Stefano that power of making them leave
and John agrees. They talk about JT and how he and John will have
a bond forever. He asks if that's like her bond to Roman and she
flat out tells John she does not love Roman. She knows he's proud
to be JT's father and he wants everyone to know about it. He
agrees he would love to do all those things daddy's do with JT,
including teaching him to play baseball, but he doesn't want to
hurt or confuse him. JT needs stability. He also doesn't want to
lose what he and Marlena have as what they have means more to him
than even she knows. She sits silently, near tears, watching him
as he tells her this. :::hugs to John for saying that last part
so well:::::: Marlena admits being jealous of JT, but John's
devotion to JT is what makes him so incredible. John knows how
much Marlena's gone through and she agrees their being alone in
Paris helps, but hearing how he feels makes her feel calmer. He
agrees this time away has helped. Wiping away tears she tells him
the physical distance from home is therapeutic. She takes the
opportunity to suggest that Brady live somewhere else, like
Victor's. John refuses to even discuss that as Bo and Hope walk
up, obviously sensing their timing was bad. They offer to give
J&M some time alone, but they insist B&H sit down. They
talk about how Jen's joining them in Paris to change the subject
and start talking about JT. Bo goes on and on about JT which
drives John to drive something into his thumb as he patience
wears thin as he and Marlena exchanges looks. Hope notices and
interrupts. She mentions the good news about JT maybe not having
FAS and John tears up hearing about that. They finally stop and
order dinner, but Bo wonders what's up with John.
The DiMera Table
The waiter remembers Stefano (Salemites always get waiters with
great memories, don't they?). They order and Lexie corrects the
waiter that she's not a DiMera, but Mrs. Carver. Stefano boasts
she's also given him a grandson. Lexie apologizes to her father
if she forgets to be grateful to him, as she is. Maybe she, Abe
and Isaac could move there some day and mi ght be forced to. He
asks if there's room in her family for a loving and devoted
father. If the Salem PD learns the truth about Marlo, she'll need
to consider leaving Abe to protect his son. She's sure Abe would
want to protect Isaac too, but if he doesn't, NOTHING will stop
her from doing so. Chloe walks in, looking for Philip. Stefano
and Lexie ask her to join them. He informs her that the opera
Carmen was written on a cafÈ that was in that very spot in 1975.
(she tells the waiter she doesn't speak French very well when
arriving, yet reads the sign on the wall in French beautifully).
Stefano and Chloe talk opera. Lexie admits not being an opera
fan, but had she grown up with her father, she might have
appreciated opera more. Chloe tells Lexie how lucky she feels
Lexie is to have such charming and sophisticated and envies her.
The 3 of them have a good time talking about opera and Stefano
offers to take them to the Paris Opera House that night. Chloe
readily agrees and spots Philip at the door of the cafÈ. Wiping
tears away, he walks over to their table and asks to see Chloe.
She tells him that Stefano is taking her to the opera tonight and
Lexie extends the offer to him too (hello, who BROUGHT you to
Paris Chloe? Plus the poor guy is obviously distraught..yet all
she can think about is herself!) Philip asks for some time alone
with Chloe. (Jay Johnson (Philip) really did a super job in this
show!)
The Newlyweds In Action
Sami and Brandon talk alone in his hotel room (her hair is back
to blonde and straight... must be that French air?). He claims to
have married the wrong woman (duh) and Angela barges in with news.
She heard there's going to be a hit at the coronation. Sami goes
ballistic, talking a mile a minute. Figuring it's Victor, Sami
reminds Angela about Kate being a black widow and her papa may be
next. Angela tells them how it'll take place in a crowded room
and the shooter will disappear. Brandon sends Angela back to her
father to see if she can learn more. She leaves, hoping they'll
get Will back and can celebrate soon.Moroni calls Sal and orders
the hit, saying this is his last call and he won't change his
mind! Sal looks at Sami's picture, saying what a waste, as he
loads his gun. Brandon goes off the ballroom to explore and Sami
insists on going with him as the credits roll.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2001***
I found this show quite intriguing, as Kate finds herself
backed into a corner, Brandon is added to the Moroni "hit
list" and Victor & Nicole hatch a plot of their own.
Also "thumbs up" to Jay Johnson (Philip) today for
another strong performance! (One of the true emerging teen
talents) If you are a Philip/Chloe fan...you will eat their
scenes up with a spoon!
Episode #8984
Directed by: Randy Robbins
Tape Date: 1/18/01
I Changed My Mind
Angela and her Papa argue and she storms out of the house to find
Brandon. Vincent whines to Kate as they talk about how their
children hurt them and vice-versa. Kate talks about how all this
started and how one lie lead to another. She says in the
beginning it all started out so she could protect her son, Lucas.
She gives him the life history of Lucas, of how he met Sami and
it lead to Will. (sorry, it's a long soliloquy and I don't want
to recant it here, besides we ALL know the story). She talks
about how Sami lied about Will's paternity and schemed to keep
him and Lucas apart. She admits that she pushed Lucas to gain
sole custody even though Sami is a decent mother (I almost fell
out of my chair, Kate pays a compliment towards Sami??? What's
the world coming to?) She admits that she should have stayed out
of all of it (no arguments here). She just didn't want
Will to be without his father, and NOW she doesn't want that for
Philip either, Victor must NOT die. Vincent tells her that it's
too late to call off the hit. Sal arrives and (privately) tells
Vincent that he overheard Sami and Brandon talking and realized
that they are in love (see below). Vincent is furious and tells
him to whack them both (hmmm, that brings Moroni's count up to 3
now). After Sal leaves, Kate pleads for Victor's life but he
still refuses. Their discussion takes a nasty turn as they first
have a shoving match and then he grabs her by the face and
threatens her. Kate tells him that she guesses it is out of her
control and he tells her to just be sure to keep her mouth shut.
To herself, she says "whatever you say Vincent". (I
think she will try and warn Victor).
Madeline The Gypsy
Austin, Greta and Ingrid have all been shopping and stop by a
restaurant. They are unaware that they are being followed by
Charles and a strange lady named Madeline (a gypsy). Madeline
warns him about the dangers but he reminds her what he is paying
her to do as he spies on Austin and Greta. Angela shows up
looking for Brandon, but the waiters haven't seen him so she
leaves. Ingrid gives Austin and Greta last minute instructions
about the coronation, then excuses herself to return to the
planning. From the bushes, Madeline tries to call off the plan
and give Charles his money back, but he refuses. As Austin and
Greta talk, Madeline walks by and pretends to be ill. Austin
offers her a seat and she introduces herself as a gypsy, so Greta
wants to know their futures. She begins by reading Austin's palm
and seems to know all about Sami (the fair haired, blue eyed one)
and about all her wrong-doings and deceptions. From his hiding
place, Charles is furious over this silliness and wants her to
get on with what he paid her for. Madeline tells Austin to stop
making excuses for this woman and that she is nothing but trouble.
He is best to stay away from her. She turns to Greta and starts
talking about how she wronged an old man and destroyed his life.
Greta realizes she is talking about Charles and realizes that she
was too harsh on him and vows to make it right. Austin sees
Charles hiding in the bushes and drags him over to the table,
BUSTED! They realize it was all a scam as Madeline makes fast
tracks to get away. Austin warns him to stay away from Greta but
Charles threatens her before he leaves.
Sami & Brandon
Sami and Brandon are at the palace(?) pretending to be tourists.
They find the guest list and learn that one of the guests (Madame
DeWitt) is ill and will not be attending. They decide that Sami
will attend the coronation disguised as Mdme DeWitt. Sal,
Moroni's hit man, is following them and overhears them talking as
Brandon professes his love for Sami and can't wait to inform
"the boss". Sami and Brandon find a picture of Mdme
DeWitt on the computer and print it out. Sami thinks she will be
able to fool everyone. Sami tells Brandon that they must warn
Victor. Angela shows up at the palace looking for them. Sami
decides that she must call Will RIGHT NOW and whips out her cell
phone. Will answers the phone and informs her that "daddy"
is asleep on the couch and can't wake up, he thinks maybe he had
too much candy (ROFL...from the mouths of babes). Sami is sure
that Lucas is drunk and passed out and Will is alone and this
infuriates her. Henderson takes over the phone and assures Sami
that he is looking out for Will. He does admit that perhaps Lucas
has "fallen off the wagon" and get this, Sami wants him
to take pictures of Lucas! Of course, he refuses and hangs up on
her. (You go, Henderson! Don't let her push YOU around). Sami
pulls out her gun and vows to take care of Lucas (from Paris? I
think she just likes handling that thing! Gee, Sami with a gun is
ALWAYS fun!). Brandon calms her down and they go back to
pretending to be tourists, taking pictures. Brandon stops and
stares at her and again professes his
love. She tells him that she loves Austin and must follow her
heart. Later, Sal meets up with one of his cronies to enlist his
help. He says that 3 hits at once may be too many for him to
handle, so Sal will take out Sami and Brandon and wants this guy
to hit Victor. They decide that it will go down during the
crowning moments of the coronation when the music is at its
loudest and all eyes are on Greta. Angela overhears all of this
and takes off to find and warn Brandon and Sami.
Philip Spills His Guts To Chloe
(If any of you enjoy Jay Johnson's (Philip) performance today,
you will also enjoy it tomorrow. He seems to be the teen actor
that emerging as a true talent, IMO). He and Chloe wander the
streets as she begs him to tell her what is wrong. He is
reluctant to share with her and instead asks if she cares for him.
Of course she does and tells him that he is like all the heroes
of her favorite operas rolled into one (ahhh, how sweet). He
confides that everything that he has believed in has turned into
a lie and asks her if he can count on her. Does she have feelings
for anyone else? (You can almost FEEL his insecurity here. Could
you just IMAGINE what he is feeling after all he has learned?).
She swears that he is the only one that she wants. He talks about
how he is happy they are taking it slow and how he hasn't
pressured her or offended her which would result in her pushing
him away. She asks where this is all coming from, but he just
wants to hold her right now. He kisses her and tells her that he
loves her and asks her to walk with him. She tells him he may not
know much about opera, but he has the soul of a poet and assures
him that she would walk ANYWHERE with him. They find a bench and
sit and he finally decides to confide in her and tells her what
happened with his mom. She is shocked, to say the least, and
understands now why he is so upset. She assures him that she will
never tell anyone what he shared with her as she just hugs and
consoles him on the park bench.
Victor & Nicole Devise Their Own Plan
Earlier, Brandon had called Nicole and confirmed the hit planned
for Victor and they work on a plan to save Victor's life. She
tells Victor and he is shocked to learn that Kate is actually
going through with it. He swears that there is no way he will go
near that coronation. As she tries to change his mind, he asks (sarcastically)
if she just wants him to paint a target on his back. She explains
that she has a plan and goes on to explain (of course, we don't
hear it). Victor tells Nicole if they can pull this off, Kate
will never recover. They celebrate the plan and look forward to
Kate and Moroni being squashed like bugs. She cautions him that
it will be dangerous, but he is not frightened. They end up
kissing. And Nicole says that Kate Roberts will regret the day
that she ever messed with Victor Kiriakis. And as they make a
toast to sweet revenge, the credits roll.

Date Correction:
Oops... I misheard the year. I had "1975" in Thursday's
spoiler instead of "1875" for the year Stefano told
Chloe that Carmen was written on that very spot in the restaurant.
Sorry about that. Linda
