No show due to Christmas
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2000****
Christmas Eve Day in Salem continues with the traditional
Horton ornament hanging and the rush to the church to get married.
I enjoyed the show with a visit from Tom Horton and watching the
fun the family had getting ready for the wedding.
Episode #8957
Directed by Roger Inman
Tape Date: Various
Abe & Lexie
Abe and Lexie are driving to Bo and Hope's wedding. Celeste is
babysitting Isaac and Lexie tells Abe how proud of him she is for
his going, even knowing that Brady might be there. They both hope
that John and Roman put aside their differences for the sake of
Bo and Hope for the evening. Celeste calls on Lexie's cellphone
to tell them that Lexie forgot to unload the bag of groceries out
of the trunk being she was in such a rush, so Abe and Lexie make
a detour home. Lexie is happy the car was serviced lately so they
don't have to worry about it and like an omen, we hear noises
from the car. Yup, a flat tire. Abe tells Lexie he can change it
before the auto club gets there. Lexie paces as he's changing it
saying it can't be any slower. He tells her the spare is flat
too, so yes, it can.
The Ornament Hanging
Gran's house. The family awaits Bo & Hope for the ornament
hanging and the wedding. Most of the women are all dressed in red.
B&H finally arrive carrying JT. Hope calms everyone down and
tells them they do not want everyone to rush through Christmas
Eve traditions for their sake. They chose Christmas Eve for their
wedding date due to it's being the most special Horton day of the
year and don't want to miss out on it either. Hope tells everyone
about her Charlie Brown tree in the turret and how putting their
names on the tree made her feel closer to home that night,
knowing that everyone else was doing the same thing back in Salem.
Julie has everyone take hands and says a prayer of thanks for the
family. While Mickey fetches eggnog for a toast, Shawn offers to
hold JT so that Bo and Hope can help with the ornaments. He goes
to plop his butt in the chair next to the tree and we learn the
ornaments were on that chair. Uh oh. He apologizes to Gran (and
everyone else too) and she accepts his apology by telling him
they can never break their memories of everyone. Mickey arrives
with the eggnog and picks up a box on the floor with the family
ornaments in it, much to everyone's relief. Jen asks to make the
toast and makes it a short one, that she's happy to be home with
the family. As everyone starts looking at the tree, Alice hears
Tom say he hopes he's not too late and turns to see him sitting
in his chair, saying it's a good time to hang the ornaments. She
talks to Tom in his chair as the family hangs the ornaments.
Shawn helps JT by hanging his ornament for the first time (it
says John Thomas on it) and Hope hangs Addie's. Abby asks Jen if
she can hang Jack's and she says okay. She assures Abby that she
would bet money that Jack is thinking about Abby that night as
well. Alice is called to the tree to hang hers and Tom's
ornaments. After doing so, we hear Tom telling Alice that they do
this tradition every year to remember what a special time it is
and to remember family, friends and love. She looks at the empty
chair and tells him that he was the greatest blessing in her life
and wishes him a Merry Christmas before joining her family. (although
it was more Tom's voice we heard, for those of us long time
watchers, it was still a treat to have him a part of this
traditional event, thanks)
The Church
Roman arrives at the church and no one (literally) else is there
but Father Jansen. Father wants to have a few words with Bo or
Hope, but Roman tells him they aren't there yet. He's told that
Bo and Hope were warned their wedding had to take place before
midnight mass if it was going to happen.Back at Grans, everyone
is sitting around relaxed when Hope suddenly remembers the
wedding and the doorbell rings as the limo driver arrives to pick
up the female members of the wedding party. Gran offers to
babysit JT while they all rush off with Gran warning Julie to get
Hope to the church on time!! Julie nervously suggests the limo
driver take a shorter way and he tells her the roads being torn
up (he sounds like Carlton the doorman from Rhoda, haha). Jen and
Hope get Julie to momentarily join in singing the 12 Days of
Christmas. Julie panics that they'll be late and they agree to do
Hope's hair in the limo. They stop the limo and get the hot
rollers out of the trunk and set Hope's hair in the car. Hope
tells Jen and Julie she doesn't do scarfs and won't enter the
church in rollers, so Hope orders the driver to take the scenic
route. Julie freaks, remembering promising Gran to get Hope to
the church in time. The gals decide to change clothes in the car
and have a grand time laughing their heads off while helping Hope
in her gown. They're now all dressed and Hope's hair is done,
phew (guys are still playing ball). Jen asks Hope for a mint as
she hasn't eaten all day and Hope confesses she hadn't either.
They remember Burger Barn is nearby and the two gals consider a
drive through while Julie tells them no. Hope goes on about how
Julie loves a juicy burger and you can almost see Julie's mouth
watering, haha. Julie agrees, and the limo driver said he can't
get the limo through the take out lane (they are pretty narrow)
and the 3 gals run into get their burgers, LOL. Later they're
munching their burgers and having a great time savoring them when
Julie takes a bite and squish, splatters catsup all over Hope's
dress and face. (oops) They ask the driver if he has any club
soda and he drops the bottle as he passes it through and warns
Hope too late as when she opens it and it sprays all over her,
LOL. Jen and Julie suggest she stand up in the roof window to dry
off and when she does so, she sees Abe and Lexie and yells to
stop the car. She gets out and asks why they aren't at the church.
Lexie gives Abe her shawl to avoid getting grease on the seat and
he climbs in one side of the limo and the 4 women sit on the
other side. Hope's putting on lipstick and Julie yells for the
limo driver to hit it. Sure enough, Hope gets lipstick on her
face. Meanwhile, Bo and Shawn procrastinate getting in their
penguin suits by playing a little one on one at Gran's basketball
hoop (snow on the ground, but no coats are worn, brrr). They're
still playing ball as Mickey, Maggie and Gran arrive at the
church with Abby and JT. (Guess they didn't see Bo and Shawn
playing ball when they got in the car?) Bo and Shawn arrive
momentarily (they are quick changers!) and learn Hope isn't there
yet. Roman's about ready to put out an APB as the limo company
can't reach the car and Maggie thought the driver was a little
strange. Shawn announces the car's there and Abe walks in wearing
the red shawl. He suggests Bo give the bridal party time to
collect themselves. Father Jansen is nervous that they might have
midnight mass during their wedding and the guys go to the altar. The
gals enter the church and Gran watches the mayhem and after Julie
apologizes to Gran, is ordered to watch from afar, haha. Gran
gives Hope Addie's earrings as something old to wear. She also
gives her a beautiful bracelet as something new. Julie hugs Gran
and tells her thank you and Julie hugs Gran and tells her she's
sorry and rushes off with the other gals. Gran asks Tom for a
Christmas miracle and I think he says have faith to her as the
credits roll.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Bo & Hope's wedding at last - not without a hitch (LOL)
and one Christmas miracle coming up. Everyone looks beautiful! (O.K.,
lots of schmaltz, and I shed some tears, so I gave an extra star
in the spirit of the season!)
Episode #8958

Get Me To The Church On Time.....
Outside the church, Marlena & John arrive, and meet Sami.
Kate & Victor arrive with Philip & Chloe (YAY, no glasses
on Chloe!). Everyone disperses, and Sami taunts Victor & Kate
once more (in front of Chloe and Philip), before going inside.
Shawn Sr. arrives with a change of tux for Abe (he has a musician
friend who lives around the corner, thus a tux was close by, lol).
John tries to talk Marlena into returning home so she and Brady
can resolve their differences, but she says Brady just wants
revenge. She tells him to let Bo & Hope have their two boys,
and that he should just keep JT in his heart, and his paternity a
secret for the good of all.
Inside the church the men are in the side room and the women in
the bride's room. Roman cannot find the ring, so he & Abe go
looking for it. Bo tries to feel confident that two of Salem's
finest will find the ring (LOL!). Doug wonders who all the people
are in the church as he thought it was a small wedding and Mickey
tells him it's the congregation waiting for midnight mass. Shawn
Sr. and Bo have a few tender moments together, as do Bo and Shawn
D. later. Caroline arrives and gets clued in by Julie as to the
disasters that have befallen the bridal party on the way to the
wedding, and especially Hope. (We see flashbacks of the limo
events). Julie and Lexie take Hope's dress somewhere, Jen hurries
in with makeup kit, hair dryer, etc. Father Janus is becoming
impatient as people are arriving for midnight mass. Bo tells
Shawn to tell his mom the wedding starts in 5 minutes!! Glances
are exchanged inside the church between Sami and the Kiriakis
family, John and JT.
Bo comes out on the altar holding JT, as Mickey takes Alice down
the aisle to her seat. The bridal party marches down the aisle, (Shawn,
Lexie, Roman, Jen & Julie) and then Doug brings Hope on his
arm. She looks beautiful with a spotless gown and hair down and
curled again. She's not wearing any veil, just a very small tiara
at the crown of her head (whatsupwiththat? reminded me of PG
personally). Chloe tells Philip she knows who Gran and Lexie are,
but asks who are the blonde and the other lady are, so he
identifies Julie and Jen for her. Doug takes a moment at the
altar telling them how he loves them both and to please make this
their last time. He takes Hope's bouquet and gives it to Julie (isn't
Jen the maitron of honor and suppose to hold them?. Father Janus
says a few words and Bo & Hope say their vows, both using
Days of Our Lives in them. As they exchange rings, Bo makes a
most heartfelt speech to Hope, and she does the same to him, then
turns and tells the guests that they all know that their son JT
is a child with special needs, and that recently John Black's son
was paralyzed. She asks the guests to join her in praying for all
suffering children and reminds everyone that their first priority
is what's best for the children (as she subtly looks at John who
appears to have picked up on what she meant). Bo & Hope kiss,
Father Janus pronounces them husband and wife, and they come down
the aisle with Shawn and JT, wreathed in smiles.
All I Want For Christmas...........
At the penthouse, Brady is having a therapy session with Carl (the
therapist at the hospital), and Belle is in curlers. She tries
talking Brady into going to the wedding with her, but he is
adamant about not going, saying his presence would be a downer
for several of the guests. Carl motions to Belle, and she says,
"Oh, it is here", and opens the door, bringing in a
motorized wheel chair. She gets Brady to agree to get in his tux
and at least go out with her, even if it's not the wedding. She
reminds him of the perils they have been thru and survived, and
runs upstairs to gets dressed, hoping he'll go out. When she
comes downstairs dressed in a beautiful long blue gown, he teases
her about not being able to keep up with him, but she pulls out a
scooter, refusing to wear a helmet with it as it would ruin her
hair. (NOT a good example here, she already has had brain surgery)
We next see them resting outside the Salem Mall, as carolers sing
in the background. Belle continues her pep talk, when a woman
with two boys greets Brady. Yes, the ones from the diner when
Brady got shot. One boy throws Brady a ball and Brady isn't able
to catch it. The boys are surprised to find him in a wheelchair,
as their mom had said he was only slightly injured. Brady tells
them he is going to okay and the family leaves (note from Linda..I
can't believe the boy's mother wasn't more apologetic or
sympathetic as it was her fake water pistol that was responsible
for Brady's getting shot, especially for her being a slain
officer's wife!). Belle talks a bit more to Brady, then retrieves
her scooter, as they have to get going. She hits Brady's leg with
it, and he grimaces in pain, and then joyfully tells Belle he
FELT itwhen she hit his leg! They hug.........and the credits
roll.

Mostly Bo and Hope's reception today.
Episode #8959
Directed by Herb Stein
Tape Date: 11/30/00
The Reception
Doug is happy to have given away Hope at this wedding being he
missed her first. Other guests arrive at the reception in Bo and
Hope's backyard. Marlena tells John she'd rather not be there and
he responds it's not easy for him either, but it's Hope and Bo's
big day!Shawn runs up to his room to call Belle before going to
the reception. (with all the curtains around the reception, I
thought it was Tuscany at first ;-) He leaves a message for her,
hoping she'll come to the reception and hangs up. Just after
Shawn left his message, Belle and Brady return home. Both are
riding high with happiness with his getting some feeling in his
leg. He has now regained all feeling in his legs and feet. He
tries to stand up, but is too weak. She's relieved he's not
discouraged. He shoos her off to the reception. She gives him a
hard time saying she's not going, but finally gives in. He has
fun teasing her when she goes to fix her hair and makeup for
Shawn. She gets Shawn's message as she changes shoes and smiles.
Bo, Hope and JT stop inside their house on the way to the
reception. (It must be 1 a.m. and everyone's wide awake, even JT).
Both comment this wedding wasn't as lavish, but it was more
special than their first. Bo promises to make up for lost time
with JT and commits to be a good daddy. Hope jumps onto his lap
and kisses him. Shawn comes downstairs and suggests they party at
their own reception, scoops up JT and gives them 10 seconds to
follow him out back. Outside Marlena comments on what John's
dealing with in regards to his sons and he tells her that's why
she needs to come back home to live. Shawn has his grandpa drum
roll in the newlyweds.Roman proposes the first toast, proud that
his brother and Hope don't give up on marriage as many people do
today, and have enduring love. He mentions other people in this
room who have endured such love (Doug & Julie, Mickey &
Maggie, Alice & Tom Horton and then his own parents).
He toasts Bo, Hope and their sons, hoping they have a wonderful
life together. John privately walks away at that and Bo and Hope
have their first dance to the song You're all I Need, My
Valentine(?). They only dance to the first part of the song, but
it looks more choreographed then sentimental to me (don't flame
me, just my opinion). We return to the end of their dance and
after they kiss, Hope tells everyone else to dance, it's a party.
Marlena refuses John's offer to dance, but everyone else joins in
the fun. Chloe and Philip go out to dance and Shawn Sr. asks Jen
to as well. An Irish jig starts and the Brady men perform for the
guests (cute). Marlena and Jen talk over the music playing and
she welcomes Jen back home. She asks if Jack will be returning to
Salem soon. Jen tells her no and that she is surprised Marlena
hadn't heard that she and Jack aren't together anymore. Marlena
just figured Jack would want to be near Abby and Jen doubts that,
but asks not to talk about it right now. Marlena doesn't take the
clue and keeps asking questions to the point where Jen is tearing
up. She tells Marlena sharply that she said she didn't want to
talk about it and why is she insisting on doing so (justifiably
in my opinion, it's not the time and place to do that). Marlena
apologizes and said she's been doing a lot of that lately and
rushes off with Jen apologizing for being so harsh. Hope catches
John alone and thanks him for the best wedding gift anyone could
give her, her son. She knows how difficult this must have been
for him and wants to bless both him and Marlena and gives him a
kiss on the cheek of thanks as Marlena walks in and sees it. Hope
steps inside the house for her bouquet (aren't they all FREEZING
outside in sleeveless dresses?) and sees a picture of her mother.
She wishes her mother had been there today and hopes she knows
how much she loves and misses her. Doug overhears and reassures
her that her mother knew that. Doug feels that Addie is taking
all of this in and comforts his daughter.Bo walks up to Marlena
and she congratulates him on his big day. He asks for a few
minutes with her and she's surprised that he wants to now. He
agrees it would have been better at a different time, but wants
to get something off his chest. He asks why she told Hope that
he's not JT's father and how could she do that? He's talking
softly to her, but she doesn't want to talk about it and is
worried they'll be overheard. She does say that Hope took it well
and seems to be handling it just fine.
He unloads on her about when she refused to tell anyone about PG
because it was confidential patient information and how it
resulted with his son being shot and thrown off a building
because of it. She finally mentions it's always about Hope, what
about her and how this is all affecting her. Bo's clueless about
what she means (not knowing that John is JT's father) and she
covers by saying that they're her friends and she cares about
them and excuses herself.Belle wheels in our her scooter and it
hits the dance floor and bolts her into Shawn's arms (how
convenient, haha, wonder how many times they had to practice THAT!).
John congratulates Bo and is looking for Marlena. Bo tells John
how he's sorry, but got a little harsh with Marlena. John
understands and goes looking for Marlena. Maggie and Mickey see
an upset Marlena in the living room as she was calling a cab and
Maggie insists on driving her back to the Salem Inn. Maggie
drives Marlena to the Inn and Marlena cries, telling Maggie how
she feels so hopeless and there are no words to express what
she's thinking. She tells Maggie she knows what people mean when
they say they need a drink and of course Maggie gets upset at
that statement.Mickey tells John that Maggie is driving Marlena
to the Inn as Belle rushes in with the news about Brady getting
feeling back in his legs and feet. John is thrilled, Abe relieved
and everyone nearby happy with the good news as Jen and Belle
spread it around.
They mention how cold it is out (duh) and how there's ice on the
canal. Shawn suggests they go ice skating right now. Belle and
Chloe even exchange glances at that comment, ha, but the next
scene we see Philip helping Chloe on with skates (where did they
come from and why are all this people ice skating in the middle
of the night?) Belle and Shawn skate onto the rink and the two
couples hold onto each other and skate. The 4 skate over to clear
ice and look down to see shapes (it's Marlo I bet). Lexie and Abe
overhear Jen telling Hope that Shawn went ice skating. Lexie
wants to go ice skating too and Abe gives in.John rushes into the
penthouse and Brady confirms he got the feeling back. John wishes
his son Merry Christmas and they hug laughing. Bo hints that he'd
like to go upstairs, but Hope wants to make the most of their
wedding reception being it'll be their last. She gives him a big
kiss to hold him over as the credits roll.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2000**
Very strange show. Even though the reception MUST still
be in full swing, Bo/Hope/ John/Marlena and all are no where in
sight. Plus, Belle and Shawn have mysteriously disappeared from
the skating rink. Also (even though it must be past 2:00 am on
Christmas morning) Salem Place is still bustling with activity!
Whatsupwithat??? Also...it's back to the Garden of Eden (argh!).
Episode #8960
Directed by Herb Stein
Tape Date: Various
Austin And The Gladiators
We are back to the Garden of Eden story with Austin and Greta. We
are treated to a replay of the last time we saw them and the set-up
for the fight. Gina, Curtis, Lillith and Charles are all there as
Austin prepares to fight the gladiators. Greta says that she
can't let him die as Curtis and Lillith delight in the demise of
Austin. Greta is told she can stop it all right now and give up,
but Austin won't let her, they are too close. He tells her that
he believes in her and her goodness (pahleeze, could this GET any
cornier?). He assures her that this is the right thing to do.
Charles starts the fight, by telling them that the rules are,
there are NO RULES and it is a fight to the death. Austin gets
knocked out right off the bat, and as the first gladiator
prepares to smash his skull (encouraged by Curtis) Austin comes
to and kills him and he disappears. Then the other 2 gladiators
come after him.
Nancy Pleads Chloe's Case
Mimi is packing her stuff to move out and Nancy is helping her.
Mimi bad mouths Chloe (calling her a witch). Realizing what she
did, she apologizes to Nancy. She says that they are so
different, she forgets that Chloe is her daughter. Nancy agrees
that Chloe can be "difficult" at times but there are
reasons for it. She asks Mimi to show some compassion for Chloe.
Mimi agrees that if she had Chloe's background, it would have
affected her as well. Since Nancy and Chloe are so different, it
makes Mimi wonder what Chloe's father is like. Nancy gets upset
and tells her that those memories are unpleasant. She says that
she sees him everytime she looks at Chloe, but Chloe means the
world to her. She only wishes that she had been given the
opportunity to love and raise her. Jan calls Mimi and wants to
talk to her. They plan on meeting at the Cineplex at Salem Place.
After she gets off the phone, Nancy guesses what it was about and
begs her not to hurt Chloe. As Mimi prepares to leave, she hugs
Nancy and thanks her for everything. Nancy asks Mimi to let it go
and call a truce with Chloe. She warns her that Chloe can be
dangerous when she feels threatened. Mimi meets up with Jan and
Jason and tells them no. Jan pushes her and tells her that she
must get Chloe back for what she did to her. They call her a
"wuss" and a "loser". They continue to ride
her until she gives in. They chase Jason away and Jan tells her
that when they are finished with Chloe, all of Salem will hate
her. We don't hear the entire plan, but key words like cameras,
internet and naked. Apparently, they plan on setting up a web cam
in the girls locker room at school. Jan takes off to rig
everything up and Mimi reluctantly follows.
Philip Tells Chloe His True Feelings
Philip and Chloe are skating (hey, where are Belle and Shawn and
ALL the other people who were there earlier???) They take a break
and Chloe tells Philip she can't believe that he would want her.
She tells him that there are other girls more beautiful, social
and prettier that are in love with him. He tells her that she is
unique and that is why he is attracted to her. They go back to
skating as he promises to give her lessons. Wow, what a teacher!
In just a few moments they are skating to LeAnn Rhimes' "I
Need You" and look set to bring home a gold medal in 2002! (The
close up shots are of them but you can TELL that the distance
shots are not, because you can't see their faces. Besides the
doubles they use are just TOO good!). LOL, when they finish, even
Philip says that Chloe brings home the gold, Jan and Mimi can eat
their hearts out. Later as they skate, they talk about a lot of
things, such as the bet. Philip talks about how dumb he was to go
along with it. He talks about the wedding and how Bo and Hope are
role models for him and how he admires them. Chloe talks about
her insecurities and says that she is afraid to get too
comfortable, because it could all change (a sure sign of things
to come?) Philip tells her to just let go and they kiss. She
tells him that it has been tough for her, with no family or
friends and it has always been Chloe vs. the world. Crying, she
tells him that because of him, this is the first time she has
ever felt wanted. He tells her that he is in love with her.
Salem Place
Things are still bustling at Salem Place (WHAT time is it???) Abe
runs into Sami (while he is there getting the skates). He tells
her about Brady (that's right, I don't remember seeing her at the
reception). She asks him what is going on between him and Brandon.
She tells him that Brandon has been good to her and is helping
her get Will back. She wants to know why Brandon hates him so,
but Abe doesn't want to go into it. She tells him that she knows
about Fay Walker. Abe is shocked as Sami explains. He denies it
all and says that Brandon had a vivid imagination as a child and
just misunderstood what he saw. He warns Sami to be careful
around Brandon because of his temper. She assures Abe that
Brandon would never hurt her, but warns him to be careful.Brandon
and Angela are at the Java Café and she is chattering on and on
about the wedding. He tells her that he has business to take care
of as Benny arrives, so she splits. Benny and Brandon talk about
Abe shooting Brady Black. They are thrilled and are sure that
they will nail him this time. Brandon tells Benny that when he is
finished with Abe, he will be a dead man. Fay walks up and
overhears this. She chases Benny off and demands an explanation
from Brandon as to what he meant by that remark. Brandon rags Abe
and Fay almost slaps him. She tells Brandon it's over and she has
taken steps to stop his vendetta. She tells him that she visited
with Abe and told him why he was so angry. She tries to reason
with Brandon and tells him that there was nothing between her and
Abe and that he helped save their lives. The kiss he saw was out
of gratitude. Brandon calls her a liar but she tells him that he
got it all wrong. Abe will straighten it out with him and then he
WILL forgive Abe.After Abe leaves, Angela shows up with Sami.
Vincent also shows up and demands that Angela give him the tape
for one of his associates. Sami accuses him of helping Victor.
Against Sami's protests, Angela freely hands it over (of course
Daddy promises to give it back) Sami grabs for it, but Vincent
gets a hold on it. After he leaves, Sami is furious with Angela
and threatens to tell Brandon what she did and storms off. They
walk up on Brandon and Fay and hear them arguing. After learning
that Fay is his mother, Angela is shocked by what she hears and
tells Brandon that he is not the guy she thought he was. She says
that she cannot marry a man who treats his mother that way.
Freeze frame on Sami's face and the credits roll.
