Stefano tells Vivian that she has no right to ask for anything from him yet says he will consider her request for an affadvait. He leaves & is spotted by John & Abe who had followed Vivian. They take pursuit and Kristen arrives on teh scene & has cramps. Johns stays with Kristen & Abe follows Stefano but he runs into Vivian & Stefano gets away. John accuses Viv of helping Stefano & she denies ever seeing Stefano. She suggests it is Kristen who is helping him. John realises it was Stefano who lured Kristen to Paris. He takes Kristen & Rachel back to the hotel & returns to search for Marlena. Abe is pleased Lexie has come too. John finds the drawing of the crown & recognises it from the game. he calls Abe & they meet at the church. John discovers a map that is similar to the game.
Marlena asks one of Stefano's servants for help. He is too afraid of Stefano to do so but confirms Marlena's suspicions that Stefano is worried as someone knows she is in Paris. The servant tells Stefano that Paul dropped the drawing of the crown. Stefano is upset but realises no-one will recognise the significance of it. Vivian tells Ivan that Stefano may sign teh affadavit & they will be out of this mess.
Bo & Hope continue to have opposing points of view over whether Franco attacked Jill. When Bo learns that the movie Franco saw at the movies was on TV the night before, he suspects that Franco may have slipped out of the theatre. While Hope & Franco are called to an unexpected photo shoot, he questions the cinema staff.

John, Abe & Kristen look at the map & believe it depicts an underground system of tunnels in Paris. Kristen has a flashback to Stefano telling her this. They go to John's friend, Rene to find a more up-to-date map of the Parisian underground. Rene explains that the tunnels are a complex maze & to search them could take years. He also proposes that Stefano may have the tunnels booby-trapped. John returns to the church to pray for help & gets inspiration when he sees the drawing of the crown. He explains to Abe & Kristen that he has organised for a display of the real crown (once owned by Marie Antoinette) at a function. He believes Stefano will try to steal it & they can catch him.
Marlena continues to hope that someone knows where she is despite Stefano's insistence that she will never be saved. Paul shows Stefano a newspaper article about the crown. Stefano announces to Marlena that they have been invited to a party.
Austin & Carrie decide to keep their personal relationship separate from their work but it is obvious to everyone at their presentation that they are very much in love. This upsets Lucas who is still angry at Kate for reassigning him so he is no longer working with Carrie. Kate tells Lucas thats he is throwing Austin & Carrie an engagement party. Austin & Carrie slip away from work to get romantic at home.
Sami's neighbour, Mary, tells Sami she needs to get out more & offers to look after Will at any time. When Sami has a true power failure she calls Austin, but he refuses to come over. Sami calls Lucas who does come over. Lucas tells Sami about Kate's party. They decide they must do something. Lucas tells Sami of a plan he has.

Sami reconsiders Lucas's plan but he convinces her to go ahead with it. Before the engagement party, Lucas again accuses his mother of favouring Austin & Kate denies it. Carrie decides to visit Victor so Lucas goes to Victor's room so he can be there when Carrie is visiting. When Victor squeezes Carrie's hand, she is so overcome with joy that she hugs Lucas. They tell Kate the news & Lucas seems to forget his animosity toward Kate.
Austin asks Sami to bring Will to the party but is disturbed when Sami brings a date, Brent. Jamie learns that Brent & Sami aren't dating. (Lucas's plan was to get Austin jealous by making him think Sami was dating). Austin tells Carrie that he doesn't want another guy having an influence over Will but Carrie tells Austin that if Sami is dating she must be getting over him. Jonah & Wendy, on behalf of the staff of Titan present Carrie & Austin with a gift certificate to buy new furniture, Kate announces she is paying for their honeymoon. She tells Austin he should take Carrie to Paris & that they should go now before the wedding. Sami & Lucas overhear this & realise they need to do something soon to break Austin & Carrie up.
Caroline overhears Franco yelling to someone over the phone & asks him if everything is all right. Franco assures her everything is fine. Bo & Hope go to the police station where Jill is going to make a statement. Bo plans on showing her Franco's photo. Jill rings to say that the man rang her & threatened her so she is leaving town. Bo decides to follow Franco & Hope goes along to prove he is innocent. They learn from Shawn that Franco is dining at the Salem Club. When they get there, Hope is called to Titan so Bo watches as Franco saves a man from choking. Soon afterward Franco leaves but Bo looses his trail. Franco goes to Titan where he gets in the same lift as Hope.

John shows Abe, Lexie & Rene his preparations for the masquerade ball. He assigns them all tasks that night. Kristen wants to be a part of the operation. At first John refuses but eventually he allows her to help. He shows them the extensive security surrounding the crown & how he is confident the lure will be too much for Stefano to resist. Kristen & Lexie discuss Stefano & their feelings toward him.
Marlena writes Belle a letter & hopes to give it to someone at the ball. She asks Stefano to take her but he refuses. She keeps insisting & Stefano tells her that he will take her if she will give him a chance to proove he is the man that she could have feelings for. Marlena agrees. Paul warns Stefano that the ball could be a trap but Stefano is not worried & says if the ball was arranged by John he will deal with it.
The lift carrying Hope & Franco stops between floors. Thinking about Bo's accusations Hope becomes nervous being alone with Franco. Franco believes Hope is claustraphobic & helps her calm down. Later Hope tells Bo that Franco was so caring that there is no way that he could hurt anyone let alone attack Jill. Bo is not convinced & wants to continue to watch Franco. Hope agrees to help him but only to proove Franco is innocent. At the Salem Club they see him talking to a woman at the bar & Bo worries that she might be his next victim.

Bo &Hope continue to tail Franco. They see him meeting with the woman from the bar & then listen to a phone call he makes where he talks about a surprise for a woman he knows. They then follow him to a warehouse. They go in & Franco is surprsied to see them. Bo asks what he is doing there & Franco says he will show them.
Rene provides John, Abe, Lexie & Kristen with earpieces so they can stay in contact at the ball. Lexie has a hidden camera in her mask. Rachel tells Kristen not to help Stefano but she is adamant she is doing it protect her child. John has Abe, Lexie, Rene & Kristen look out for a woman dressed in gold.
Vivian learns of the ball & decides to attend as it may be her last chance to get Stefano to sign the affadavit before he is caught. A costume shop mix-up has Viv dressed as Napolean & Ivan as Josephine. John recognises them & fears they will ruin his plan. He has Rene escort them from the ball. Vivian is distressed that she will not be exonerated & gets drunk. She returns to her hotel & asks Ivan to stay the night with her.
Marlena is dressed in gold & hides her letter to Belle in a pocket of her cape. At the ball she tries to make contact with someone but Paul prevents her from doing so. Stefano has arranged for many women to be dressed in gold & John & co. are confused at first. John has each of them follow a different couple. Lexie follows a couple outside & Stefano confronts her. Stefano tells Lexie that he believed that she would understand his passion for Marlena & not turn him in. Lexie uses the hidden camera to let John know. John, Abe & Rene rush outside.
