Monday 1July96

On Monday, John desperately tries to see what Marlena, who is now caged, is writing in her journal [hello, she has been caged for some time.] Stefano has just found out that John has been using those goggles and he is determined to stop him. [John manages to get close enough to read some of what Marlena is writing. He sees that it is a letter to him, and then he sees Kristen's name. He can't see well enough, but the letter reveals all that Kristen has done.] At the same time, Kristen fears her devious ways will be uncovered, and she tries to destroy the goggles. [Luckily, John loses his connection before he can read any more.] Now remember, Stefano made a vow that the next person who used those goggles would be killed. But can Stefano actually snuff out Kristen's life? [Kristen expresses her disbelief in the goggles, but John is convinced that they can lead him to Marlena. Kristen later tells her mother that she must destroy the goggles. First Stefano calls his shadowman, Al, to retrieve the goggles; but he discovers that John has hired guards at the warehouse. Stefano then tells him to wire it with explosives such that the next person to use the goggles gets blown up. Laura visits Alice and presents her dilemma re: doctor-patient confidentiality. She pretends it is a colleague of hers who has this problem. Alice thinks that Tom would have kept the information secret. Laura vehemently admits that she would do anything to protect a loved one; even sacrifice her career. But Laura tells a grateful Rachel that she will keep Peter's secrets to herself as long as Peter stays clean.] Back at home, Jack has decided to get on with his own life after seeing just how happy Peter and Jennifer are. Laura, meanwhile, warns Peter that if she should discover any more wrong-doings, she will not hesitate to tell Jennifer what she knows about him. Hope spends an interesting evening with the charming Franco. When Bo walks in on them, he becomes uneasy. Hope doesn't think Bo should be concerned about this mysterious new man in Salem, but convincing Bo of that is another matter. [Hope assures him that he is the only man she wants to be with, but Bo's suspicions may be well-founded. Something's up with this "Franco" guy, who continues to watch Hope through the window of the bar.]

Tuesday 2July96

On Tuesday, Sami is determined to keep little Will, but she needs help with getting her scheme off the ground. Sami asks Lucas to please lend her a hand, and Lucas agrees. [Huh? Lucas wasn't on today, unless I missed a one-sided telephone conversation between him and Sami. When Sami stops by Austin's apartment to take Will, he resists. The court hearing is this afternoon, but until then, Sami still has every right to see her son, and Mickey encourages Austin to let them go. Sami wants to spend some time alone with her baby. Jamie regretfully tells her that it seems like Austin has a strong case, but when she sees how upset Sami is, adds that it isn't hopeless. After Sami hands Will back over to Austin before the hearing, she gets a gleam in her eye and comes up with an idea that will allow her to keep Will. Carrie asks John if he knows when Marlena will be back (for Sami's sake), and he admits to her that Stefano kidnapped her again, but he will find her.] In the meantime, Bo and Hope run into the charming Franco again. Just like the last time, Bo is not impressed with Franco. Hope, who is thoroughly charmed by the stranger, cannot understand why Bo is so stand-offish. Bo doesn't know either -- it's just that there's something about Franco that rubs him the wrong way. Later, Bo becomes even more upset when he finds out that it was Franco who helped little Shawn-Douglas with his batting practice. [Bo had told Shawn- Douglas that he would help him, but Bo had police work to do and couldn't make it. Bo is not happy to see first Hope, and now his son, taken with Franco.] Stefano continues to move forward with his plan to kill the next person who dares to touch those magical goggles. Unfortunately for Stefano, he has no idea that Kristen's been playing around with the goggles. [Actually, she hasn't *yet*. However, she has a nightmare about John finding Marlena and discovering all her evil doings, and he leaves her. Despite her mother's pleading, Kristen says she must get rid of the goggles, and she heads over to the warehouse. She doesn't know that John has just been informed that the goggles are charged up again, so he heads over there too. Stefano learns that the explosives are just about in place, and he toys with the idea of letting Marlena see John one last time before killing him.]

Wednesday 3July96

On Wednesday, Austin and Carrie continue to remain optimistic that the judge will grant Austin custody of little Will. This is even after Sami's emotional outburst in the courtroom. It's too bad that they have no idea that Sami's been scheming to keep her son [isn't that a given?], or that she now has Lucas around to help her again. [Lucas at first wanted nothing to do with Sami ever again, but hearing Sami describe how baby Will will bring Carrie and Austin even closer together, and make Carrie want to have a baby with Austin - Lucas doesn't want to think about that, so he gives Sami some pointers on what to say to the judge to win him over. Austin and Carrie are shocked to see that it worked: the judge awards custody of Will to Sami.] Kristen puts on the goggles [after pleading with the guards to let her in; after all, she is John's fiance. He'll be really upset if he hears that she was denied access], and she finds herself with a birds-eye view of Marlena's journal. What Kristen reads is a real eye-opener [she seems to enjoy seeing Marlena "caged"], especially when she discovers that Marlena has detailed every dirty trick Kristen ever pulled. Kristen cannot allow John to see Marlena's journal, but she doesn't know how to prevent it from happening. While Kristen is searching for a way out [she starts to dismantle the goggles, but John arrives on the scene. She lies that she tried the goggles and they didn't work, but John insists on using them himself. He sees the journal, but can't make out all the words Marlena wrote. He then gets distracted when Stefano approaches Marlena; John angrily yells at him to stay away from her.] Stefano gets the word that someone's been fiddling with those goggles again. Infuriated, Stefano decides to take action. [Kaboom? Elsewhere, Bo and Hope continue to run into Franco, and the last straw is when Hope goes to her photo shoot, and who is her partner for some steamy, romantic shots? Franco.]
