On Monday, Marlena has found out that Kristen is the one who told Stefano which of the four planes she was aboard. Marlena is furious about this, and she's ready to tell John everything. [Kristen interrupts them before Marlena can say anything, and John excuses himself to finalize Marlena's travel plans. Of course Kristen lies to Marlena through her teeth and says she would never do anything like that. Marlena is disgusted to see how evil Kristen truly is, and wants to tell John everything.] Kristen realizes this could mean the end of all she's worked for, so she plays her pregnancy trump card to get Marlena to back off. It works, at least for now. [Kristen also begs Marlena to think of Rachel, and how much this trip and surgery mean to her. Marlena informs Kristen that once she returns from San Francisco, she is going to discuss the situation with Kristen's doctor, and as soon as the baby is out of danger, Marlena is going to John with the truth.] Later, Marlena and Rachel depart for San Francisco. [John and Abe stay with Stefano in jail to make sure that Marlena is safe.] Just as the plane flies off into the sunset, John makes a startling discovery. [Stefano is uncharacteristically silent, and the police officer guarding him casually mentions beating him at chess. Both John and Abe know that Stefano is a master chess player, and *no one* beats him. John demands that the cell be opened, and they confront Stefano, who peels off his mask to reveal a nice blue-eyed man underneath. Meanwhile, Kristen watches the plane fly over the house, and bids good riddance to Marlena. She's only sorry that Stefano has no way to get to her. Wrong. Rachel was sedated for the trip, and was wearing her giant black bee-keeper hat again. Concerned that Rachel hasn't come to yet, Marlena checks on her. Underneath the veil she finds Stefano. Carrie plays with Will and fantasizes that he is hers and Austin's. Kate sees the way Carrie still looks at Austin, but Carrie insists that it's over -- he's with Sami now.] Sami decides that she needs to solidify her hold on Austin, so she coaxes Austin into taking her away on a romantic vacation [she proposes it as a getaway for him, since he's been working so hard; and then adds that it will be great for Will to spend time with his mother and father as a family.] While Austin is working out the details, Sami sits back and relaxes, confident that she has gotten rid of Lynn for good. Sami couldn't be more wrong about that. [Lynn finally meets up with Kate, and hints that she has some information in which Kate might be very interested. She isn't, not until Lynn mentions getting Carrie and Austin back together. After telling Kate about how Sami drugged Austin, Lynn hints that a monetary recompense might be warranted, and Kate is willing to pay anything to substantiate her suspicions about Sami. She's concerned that Lynn's word won't be good enough, though, and she doesn't want to confront Sami again without proof. She calls Jamie over, and tells her that she has no reason to protect Sami anymore -- she knows everything now. She just needs Jamie to fill in some of the details. Sami gleefully tells Carrie and Lucas about her and Austin's planned trip. Carrie can't help feeling upset, and Lucas tells her that she must let go of Austin. He promises to make her happy. After some thought, Carrie realizes he's right. Tearfully, Carrie asks Lucas to make her happy, and he holds her.]

On Tuesday, Stefano is not in jail but on the plane with Marlena. John has just found out, and he's frantic to find and rescue his precious Doc. After hearing the news about Marlena, Kristen finds her mother bound and gagged. Once Rachel is freed, she declares that she saw Stefano's face. [A bit backwards here -- after learning that the "Stefano" in jail was an imposter, John checked with the pilot, who said everything was OK. It's a pilot hired by Stefano, so of course he says everything's OK. John then calls Kristen to inform her that Stefano has escaped. Kristen hears muffled cries, and finds her mother bound and gagged in the house's secret room. John surmises that Stefano snuck on the plane in place of Rachel, and rushes to track down the plane's location.] Back on the plane, Marlena becomes increasingly distressed over Stefano's intentions to keep her from her loved ones for ever. [She tells him that he'll never get away with this -- John won't let him. Stefano is not concerned. Marlena says she'll never *ever* return his feelings for her, but Stefano is certain he will have his way eventually. When he leaves to discuss the flight plan with the pilot, Marlena searches for a way out of her situation. Me, I would have gauged his eyes out with a spike heel and kneed him hard in the crotch. But Marlena searches through Stefano's things, looking for a gun, perhaps. She finds a phone, and prays it works as she calls John. He freaks when radar can no longer track the plane. Stefano has told the pilot to fly very low, out of radar range. John is busy concentrating on finding Marlena and doesn't want to answer his cell phone, but Abe says it could be important. John takes it and hears Marlena's terrified voice. Rachel is disgusted to see that Kristen seems almost relieved that Stefano has kidnapped Marlena. She says she has nothing to do with it, but won't be a hypocrite and say she's not glad it happened. Rachel is shocked that Kristen would be so selfish as to sacrifice another person's freedom and happiness for her own, but Kristen is only concerned for her own happiness and keeping John.] Kate grills Jamie about Sami [and gets the details she needs], while Sami gets ready for her romantic trip with Austin [they leave tomorrow. Boy, I wish I had a job like Austin's: "Oh, by the way, I'm going on vacation to Bermuda. See ya."] Meanwhile, Carrie could just cry every time she remembers how she and Austin talked about going to Bermuda together [I don't remember this. Fake flashback. Lucas succeeds in cheering Carrie up, but she reminds him that she's still not ready for a relationship with him. Kate formulates her plan of attack and calls Lucas and Carrie and Sami and Austin over to the Kiriakis house. Jamie tries to call to warn Lucas, but she's too late. Sami thinks she's being invited over for dinner; she doesn't realize her downfall is imminent.] The tension between Hope and Bo grows as that misunderstanding keeps them apart. [They still love each other, but hurt feelings and miscommunication prevent them from talking.] But things change for the better when Caroline tells Hope that Bo has an engagement ring for her. [Hope is thrilled, and realizes how silly she's been to be so cold to Bo. Bo can't understand why -- he thought he spoke highly of her in the interview following Stefano's hearing. He doesn't know that the edited version that Hope saw made him sound very harsh. Bo shows the engagement ring to Abe, who notices that one of the stones is loose. He's too busy to take it back to the jewelry shop himself, so he asks another cop to drop it off for him. Of course Hope is there looking for a gift for Bo, and when she hears that Bo sent the ring back, she is completely heartbroken.]

On Wednesday, John receives a frantic call from Marlena from the plane. As John talks to Marlena, the control tower tries to locate the aircraft. [Stefano is purposely having the plane fly low so they can't be detected by radar.] Marlena starts to tell John the truth about how Kristen kept them apart, but the line starts breaking up. [She tells John that she loves him and that Kristen is the one who told Stefano which plane she would be on, but John can't make out what she is saying. In order to determine their location, he asks Marlena to look around her. She says they are above water - no landmarks. She looks for maps or travel plans.] As she's fiddling with the phone, Stefano walks in and catches her. Marlena hangs up, not knowing if John heard her or not [No, actually Stefano takes the phone and gloats to John while Marlena screams in the background.] With a wicked laugh, Stefano says "John will never find us if we don't exist." [Marlena is confused, but soon learns that Stefano plans to make is appear that they are dead. He has the plane brought up to a higher altitude so that it can be detected, and then manipulates things such that the control tower thinks there was an explosion. John was all set to chase after the plane, but Abe stops him when he realizes what has (supposedly) happened. John refuses to believe that Marlena is dead - he would feel it if she were. Search and rescue teams are organized, and John is told to go home and be with Kristen until they receive further word. Marlena violently resists Stefano, so he gives her an injection and she falls unconscious.] Back home in Salem, Kristen uses Marlena's absence to her advantage. [Kristen sets up a romantic evening for her and John. Rachel is very disappointed and hurt to see how much her children are like Stefano. Once John is home, Kristen hangs all over him, hoping they can 'comfort each other' during this time. She's got one thing on her mind -- getting John back into her bed and making him forget all about Marlena.] Kate's little impromptu farewell party for Austin and Sami is bound to turn into a night Sami will never forget. [All are a bit confused by Kate's excessive niceness toward Sami. Kate's plan is to make Sami feel safe and secure before confronting her with the information she has. Kate hints to Carrie, who is clearly not in a party mood, that her pain will be over this evening. She also takes Lucas aside and emphasizes how much she loves him and wants him to be happy. He believes he can be happy with Carrie, and says he's going to take her home now since she's upset. Austin and Sami also prepare to leave, since they have a flight to catch tomorrow. Kate doesn't let anyone leave until she asks Sami more about her trip. Is she all packed? Did she bring enough drugs? Sami is confused. Well, says Kate, you're planning a romantic trip. You'll need more of that drug you used to get Austin into bed the first time. Lucas jumps in to defend Sami, but clearly Kate has no intention of letting her get away with her lies any longer.]

Thursday, June 13, 1996

On Thursday, Kate has found out the truth about Sami's dirty deeds, and now that she knows the truth, she despises the young woman more than ever. But Kate conceals her feelings as she prepares for Sami and Austin's farewell party, all the while thinking of how she is going to reveal Sami for the low- down liar that she is. Sami, meanwhile, thinks that Kate has finally welcomed her into the family with open arms. Kate waits until the festivities are well underway before she tells all about Sami. [Everything up to this point happened in yesterday's show.] Sami tries to worm her way out of it by convincing a stunned and confused Austin and Carrie that Kate is lying through her teeth [Sami claims she could never do something so horrible, and tells Carrie how much she loves her and wants her to be happy. Indeed, Sami has by all appearances done what she could to get Carrie and Austin back together, and Austin's not sure who to believe.] But to Sami's dismay, she has more than just words to back her up -- she has witnesses. [Kate brings Lynn out to support her story of how Sami drugged Austin to get him into bed, and then timed her return to Salem to disrupt Carrie and Austin's wedding with the news of her pregnancy. Sami claims that Kate paid Lynn off to say these terrible things about her. Kate then brings out an irrefutable witness -- Jamie. She apologizes for doing this to her 'best friend', but she couldn't let it go on any longer. Jamie supplies the additional info of how Sami always interrupted Carrie and Austin because she couldn't stand to see them together; and how she messed with the clock and Austin's watch so he would be late for his New Year's Eve reunion with Carrie; and how she drugged Carrie and put her into bed with a passed out Lucas and arranged for Austin to find them together. Sami denies everything, but it doesn't work. She finally admits that it's all true, but tries to justify it by saying that she wanted Will to have a family. Carrie slaps her - hard. She can't deal with what she has just learned, and leaves the room. Sami turns to Austin, begging for one more chance. She did it because she loves him, she says. And what about Will? Austin assures her that he will always take care of Will; but as for her, he doesn't care what happens to her. He wants her out of the apartment, tonight. Sami gets on her knees and begs Austin not to leave her, but he pushes her away and goes after Carrie. Lucas is with her, and she apologizes to him - he's been so good to her. But she needs to know where she stands with Austin now. Lucas tries to get Carrie to go a little easier on Sami (after all, he was involved in many of the schemes as well). Carrie can't, and Austin interrupts them and asks to speak with her privately. Jamie catches Lucas and assures him that she didn't say a word about his involvement, and he is thankful. Kate gloats to Sami that she finally got what she deserved. Sami retorts that she forgot one very important thing. She didn't pull it off alone -- she had help. No, not Jamie. Lucas turns white as he enters the room, and Sami tells Kate "Your son, Lucas." Alone, Carrie and Austin finally admit to each other that they never stopped loving each other. So many times they wanted to say so, but something always got in the way. The two reunite at last.] The news of Marlena's disappearance brings Bo and Hope closer together. [Bo calls Hope at the Horton's, where she is staying. He says they need to talk, and he wants to meet at the boat. She is afraid that he is going to say he can't commit to her. Instead, he informs her about what happened to Marlena. He doesn't want the family to know until they're certain what has happened. It could be another one of Stefano's tricks. Hope wants to help with the investigation, but Bo reminds her that she has been suspended. He tells her that he spoke well of her in the TV interview, but they edited it so that it sounded bad. Hope still wants to be involved somehow, since Marlena is a close friend. Bo agrees to see what he can do. Hope then wonders about their relationship. Bo is confused, because he has every intention of committing himself to her, and Hope is forced to admit that she at the shop when he sent another cop to return her engagement ring. Bo explains that the setting was loose and needed to be repaired, and then he presents her with the ring. Although it isn't the proper scenario he had planned, he proposes to her; Hope joyfully accepts.] The misunderstandings that have been keeping them apart are cleared up, and Bo is ready to set his sights on the future.

Friday, June 14, 1996

On Friday, Bo proposes and Hope accepts. Now that they are officially engaged, the happy couple spends the evening celebrating [that is, making whoopie. They are interrupted by a noise on the boat, and fear that they are being burgled. It's only Shawn-Douglas, back early from camp because his friend was ill. He's thrilled to learn that his parents are getting married again, and they go to the Brady Pub to celebrate.] As they share happy memories from their first wedding, a mysterious stranger watches [Hope] from a distance. Meanwhile, Kate sees to it that the whole truth about Sami's conniving ways are finally revealed. Sami tries, but she can't talk her way out of this mess. Once Austin and Carrie get over the shock, they realize that they are finally free to love each other. [Caroline stops by and sees Austin and Carrie kissing, and learns what happened. She is sickened by what Sami has done. Austin asks if she can take care of Will while he and Carrie spend some time together. She orders Sami to get Will and meet her at the car, and she doesn't take any backtalk from Sami.] They [Carrie and Austin] go home to celebrate their love by spending a magical night on the roof [Austin asks Carrie to put on her dress from New Year's Eve. He arranges a romantic rooftop dinner, with music and dancing. The song "Suddenly" by Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Somebody plays, and the scary thing is I knew all the words! Ah, youth. Really lovely scene though. When Sami tries to tell Caroline "her side of the story", she tells her that she has no one to blame but herself.] Although Sami is furious that her best friend Jamie is the one who betrayed her, she doesn't turn her fury on Jamie but on Kate instead. Sami vows that she will not go down alone, and she immediately begins planning to destroy Kate, just as Kate destroyed her. [Sami does toss water in Jamie's face when she approaches her apologetically. She says she didn't mean for her to get hurt. Caroline scolds Sami and she runs off and finds Lucas in Carrie's apartment. He just said some really terrible things to Kate. When she learned that Lucas was involved in the schemes to keep Carrie and Austin apart as well, she couldn't believe it. Lucas admits to it, and rails into his mother for *her* scheming to get Austin and Carrie back together, thereby taking away from Lucas the woman that he loves. Lucas is disgusted at how his mother favors Austin and Billie over him, and tells her that as far as he's concerned, she's NOT his mother anymore. Kate is heartbroken. Sami tells Lucas that they can come up with something to "fix" things, but Lucas doesn't want anything to do with Sami ever again. They hear music, and peek at Carrie and Austin on the roof. Sami tearfully watches, and vows that she *will* get him back.]
