March 25-29, 1996 Updates
Monday March 25
At long last, Hope hears the words she's waited so long to hear, words she thought she would never hear again: Bo tells Hope that he loves her. Overcome with emotion, Hope's eyes fill with tears. [Shawn D comes in a few times to see his mom: he can't believe it is real that she is alive (although I don't know why; she came back from the dead once before). He asks whether the three of them will be a family again, and Bo and Hope say they will. I guess since Billie is gone with the wind, no one cares about her anymore. Ever notice how Bo seems always caught up with the woman who is in closest proximity at the moment and to h*ll with the rest of them? I mean, just several months ago he professed he would always love Billie....oh, well, I digress. Bo wants to "show" Hope that he loves her by making love to her, but she insists that he has lost a lot of blood and should go to sleep. He dozes off before he can protest.] Kristen is so desperate [it's a bit stronger than desperation, IMHO] to save her relationship with John [that she starts acting as paranoid as Tony] that she leads Marlena [hook, line and sinker] into believing that John belongs with Kristen and that his feelings for Marlena are nothing more than those of a protective friend. [Marlena sits there stupidly and asks what exactly Kristen wants her to do (like it isn't completely obvious).] When Kristen reminds Marlena of all the trouble their past relationship caused [now this is the way the tape worded it, but doesn't it make it sound like it was Kristen and Marlena had the relationship? Oh, let's not go there cause it might lead to that was-Kristen-a-man rumor again!!!!!], Marlena realizes that she and John can never be together. [With Kristen listening from the other room, Marlena interrupts John just as he is ready to tell her that he still has feelings for her, but from the way he prefaced what he was going to say, Marlena believes that this is a classic "Let's just be friends" speech (because of what Kristen told her), telling him that she has moved on with her life and that she should not feel any obligation toward her. Note this is almost word for word what Kristen told Marlena earlier. After this, Kristen comes bopping in with a cup of coffee for John and makes goo goo eyes at him. Then, she remembers Marlena and tries to be gracious and asks if she needs anything (except perhaps driving the knife Kristen has stuck in her back, I think Marlena is all set). Marlena says no, she was just going to bed and excuses herself. Listening in (in the exact same place Kristen eavesdropped - didn't change the camera angle or anything), Marlena overhears Kristen tell John that he should commit to her and to forget the past. They start kissing, and Marlena sobs, saying that she has never loved John more than she does at this very moment. How magnanimous of you, Marlena.] Vivian gets into bed expecting to find Ivan [he was delayed; he was buying Madame the biggest bunch of roses I have ever seen], but she is greeted by a man from her past, a man she knows only as Rudolfo. But we and the rest of Salem know him under another name: [the Energizer Bunny of daytime villains, yes, allow me to present]: Stephano DiMera. [Marlena Delacroix of Soap Opera Weekly was right: he is a walking sperm bank!!!! Has he bedded all the available women in Salem???] In spite of her strong feelings for Victor [which are nowhere to be found this evening], Vivian finds herself having a tough time keeping Stephano at arms length. [They end up in bed, but not before Vivian slaps him and interrogates him regarding a ring he stole from her: recall that a year ago, when she was helping John get out of the priesthood, she ran into a cardinal with a ring with a stone like that a lover of hers stole after a one night stand. Well, the lover was Stephano. Anyhow, she demands the whereabouts of the stone. Stephano admits he stole the ring because he was in dire circumstances (like when is he not???), but that he doesn't know what happened to the stone (I think he said he sold it, but I don't recall) and that he regrets leaving Vivian that night because the memory of her was etched in his memory all those years. They make love, and then Ivan shows up with his bunch of roses. Vivian comes out of the bedroom and insists that she no longer is in the mood and dismisses him. Depressed, Ivan lingers for a few minutes and, smart cookie that he is, he figures out Vivian is between the sheets with another man. Poor Ivan. I think a lot of ladies would like a piece of Vivian for what she did to the poor guy.]

[comments by Dorothy, although she did not catch the entire episode]:
Marlena walks in on John and Kristen kissing. John is uncomfortable but unaware of how hurt Marlena is. He steps out, and while he's gone, Kristen turns to Marlena and says [in a very mean tone], "John and I want to spend the evening alone." Marlena gets the picture loud and clear [can a picture be loud??? Hmmm...] and turns to go to her room [Why the heck is she staying at Kristen's house??? Why doesn't she go and stay with Caroline or Mrs. Horton? Better yet, why doesn't she go back and stay in her house? It isn't like anyone else is living there!!!!!!!!] when John returns with a surprise that thrills Marlena. [He brings Belle over. Now if that is a surprise that thrills Marlena, you must start to question Marlena and John's parenting skills. I mean, how often do they see Belle? And what about poor Brady? Anyhow, John and Marlena coo at Belle, who seems like she graduated from the Abby Deveraux school of comportment. Very cute, but a distinct lack of personality. Marlena takes the rug rat upstairs to bed. Meanwhile, Kristen and John get hot and heavy. Kristen asks him to make love her. Obviously thinking that Marlena wants nothing to do with him in a "love" way, John agrees and carries Kristen upstairs.] Meanwhile, Bo and Hope return to Salem [Grandma et. al. throw them a welcome-back-glad-you're-both-alive party], eager to get on with their lives and relieved to finally be home. [Just how long have they been in Aremid? Since before Christmas, right???] But Hope is soon wondering where home is now. Austin is deeply hurt that Carrie is with Lucas at the ski lodge, a place that was once very special to them. [He contemplates calling her, and she stares at the phone waiting for it to ring, but it doesn't. Jonah tries to get Austin to tell Carrie how he feels, but Austin is sure that Carrie has written him off since she is with Lucas.] Carrie is trying to enjoy herself with Lucas, but memories of Austin keep getting in the way. [The maid comes in and starts telling Carrie how she remembers how much in love Austin and Carrie were (can we say plot device???). Carrie tells herself that she shouldn't throw away the opportunity of having something with Lucas to try to have something that can never be with Austin. Lucas leaves and comes back with a pretty seed pearl necklace Carrie saw in the gift shop. Carrie then goes into the bathroom and comes out in a pale turquoise-blue bikini and robe and suggests that she and Lucas go outside in the hottub. Personally, I think even late March is a bit early to go out in a bikini. Carrie kisses Lucas, apparantely deciding that she ought to reciprocate his feelings since she thinks things between her and Austin are inevitable. Meanwhile, Sami is at a club with Jamie. She starts hanging out with a guy called Rob, who buys her several drinks. They get in the limo Austin arranged. Rob tells Sami that it is really convenient her having the limo as he puts the screen up so the driver can't see what they are doing: they don't have to go to his place. Sami questions him, and Rob lets her know that he wants to have sex with her. Why do you think I bought you all those drinks, he asks. Sami thought it was because he liked her. He does, he says, as he starts forcing himself on her. Jamie races back to the apartment and tells Austin that she thinks Sami is drunk and that she left with Rob. Austin finds Sami alone in the limo. The driver heard her screaming and threw Rob out before he could hurt her. Austin tells Sami that she is a wonderful, beautiful girl who is a good person and a great mother and that he thinks anyone would be lucky to have her. She doesn't believe her. He kisses her.]

Note from Dorothy: [Fair warning, the recording was really bad today: several inaccuracies and it seems really out of order chronologically. I will try to set the record straight]:
John and Kristen make a real commitment to each other, but that's only after John admits that he had feelings for Marlena before he was scheduled to be executed. [If I recall correctly, he never says specifically that he had feelings for Marlena. He kinda evaded the question all together.] He works this out with Kristen then proposes marriage. [WRONG!!!!!!! Kristen asks John to get hitched. He accepts, and then Kristen makes an "engagement" ring out of a gum foil wrapper. How cute.] Kristen happily accepts [you mean John]and suggests that they hit the sheets. [This is correct: she was the one who wanted to dance the horizontal tango. They start stripping each other, and Kristen has her dress half off when they are interrupted.] Unfortunately, Marlena's return puts a damper on those plans. [John hears a noise and sees Abe's car outside. Concerned, John races downstairs to find Abe and Marlena in the foyer. They tell John that Stephano has tried to abduct Marlena (again). John apologizes profusely, saying that he "should have been there to protect you, Doc." Kristen is not pleased. They leave, and Kristen finds the foil ring on the floor. Bad omen, hon.] [OK, everyone hit the rewind button...we are going back in time.] Meanwhile, Abe has been searching for all of Salem for Stephano. He hits one dead end after another because he has been in Vivian's bed making love to her for hours. [They are apparantely the Energizer Bunnies of lovemaking in Salem. *grin* And you thought Sami had no scruples!] Abe [along with a small army or police officers] heads over to the Salem Inn. His search leads him to Vivian's room. [Ivan shows up again. Vivian reminds him that she told him to take the day off. Ivan informs her it is now the evening. Vivian tries to keep Abe out of her bedroom, not because she knows that her lover is Stephano, but because she doesn't want Ivan to see. When Abe opens the door, no one is there. Stephano escaped somehow, the chameleon. Abe apologizes profusely for intruding (he thinks the rumpled bed and the champagne are there because Ivan and Vivian have been doin' it. He leaves. After Stephano fails at swiping Marlena, he encounters Celeste and demands her help (food, clothes, a place to hide). She refuses. Good for you, Frankie. Let's just hope your loyalty to your daughter doesn't make your pretty blonde head come away from your neck. Later, Ivan, still feeling dejected but also fearful for his Madame's safety, sees a shadow in the alley. Comparing who he sees to a picture in the newspaper (a cover story on the manhunt for Stephano) Ivan realizes that he has seen Stephano.] Bo and Hope enjoy the party and have a romantic time remembering when they were kids together. [They go up in the attic. Bo dares Hope to put on an old dress. She does, and Bo puts on a tie, an old jacket and a fedora-like hat. They dance to an old song, and there is a really cute flashback to a younger Bo and Hope in the same clothes. Little Bo wants to lead because he is the man. Little Hope stamps on his foot. (Good for you, kid!) Little Bo produces the fedora and calls it a boss' hat. He puts it on. It doesn't fit him. He puts it on Little Hope. It does fit her, so he says she is the boss.] They can't wait to get back to the boat to make love. They're about to do just that when the evil Stephano puts his plan to stop them into motion. [WRONG AGAIN. Marlena was outside thinking when Stephano came out of the bushes and told her that he would never hurt her and that she should just accept that they were gonna be together and that he was taking her away. Bo and Hope are still up in the attic dancing when Maggie tells them what Stephano attempted to do. Bo and Hope want to be back on the job, but Mike tells them that they aren't physically well enough. When they argue, Mike tells them that, according to Abe, neither of them are on active duty.]
