On Monday, John's bail has been revoked, which means it's back to
the big house for him [or in this case, back to the wine cellar of the pub.]
As John is being led away, he turns to Kristen whispering "the proof of my
innocence is out there". In Tony's diary. Unfortunately, the only person
who has the proof to set John free is the woman in white, and no one knows
what she intends to do [she keeps saying she "has to help Johnny", but she
also seems to have a few screws loose.] In the meantime, Celeste finds
Stefano out cold in the woods. She realizes he has been struck by lightning,
and drags him back to the Blake house [in his wheelchair] to the very same
room where the lady in white has come to read the diary. The lady is forced
to run for cover, and in her haste, she leaves the diary behind. [Jennifer
notices the diary on the floor and Celeste takes it.] Mike examines Stefano
and he thinks the jolt could cause the old Stefano to re-emerge. [As Celeste
and Mike are discussing Stefano's condition outside his room, the lady in
white returns and searches for the diary (Celeste has it.) Stefano opens
his eyes and sees the woman, and demands to know who she is. She hears Mike
and Celeste and runs away.] When Stefano begins to regain consciousness,
Celeste quizzes him to see if his memory has returned. Stefano remembers
nothing [so he says], leading Celeste to believe he is still in an amnesiac
state. She leaves him to recuperate. Once alone, it's obvious that Stefano
does remember, and that means the old Stefano DiMera, who everyone would like
to forget, is back. [To help make John feel better, Kristen arranges for
permission to bring him dinner in his cell and spend some time with him
(though she must remain outside the cell). They try to keep it a happy
time, but the reality is that John is on trial for murder. He emphasizes
to Kristen that he did not kill Tony, and it's clear that she still has
trouble believing him. Jack learns from his contact in Salem that the
sealed records from the Blue Moon raid will be opened tomorrow, and he
can get a sneak preview that evening. Jack rushes over to tell Jennifer.
Their producer Arnie wants her to cover the story, so they have to leave
for Salem right away. A nervous Peter lets Jennifer go.]
Next time, Peter takes action. Jack and Jennifer have a close call. Stefano
worries about Marlena.

On Tuesday, Jack and Jennifer are headed back to Salem to have a
look at the papers from the Blue Moon raid. Peter is frantic about this
and calls Deke demanding to know if he got rid of the evidence. Deke is
sorry, but he wasn't able to pull it off. [He says he found a police
officer willing to take a bribe, but it's not a sure thing. Peter threatens
Deke to get the job done or suffer the consequences.] Peter races back to
Salem, trying to get there before Jack and Jenn [he had told Jenn he was
staying behind to meet with the judge about John's case.] Meanwhile, Jack
and Jennifer's plane is involved in a near-accident [they almost make an
emergency landing. Jack comforts Jennifer and diverts her thoughts to the
wonderful time they had at the Horton cabin with Abby.] Although disaster
is averted, the plane is delayed, leaving Peter enough time to get to the
police station ahead of them. [Conveniently, the person guarding the
evidence goes to get a cup of coffee.] But just as Peter is about to abscond
with the evidence, he hears Jack and Jenn at the door. [He quickly explains
to Jenn that his meeting with the judge was canceled, and it's just as well,
since he should be here in case this evidence is connected to Tony's murder.
I get the feeling Peter could tell Jennifer the moon is made of blue cheese
and she'd believe it.] In the meantime, Kristen has pulled a few strings
[like stealing the spare set of keys to the jail cell] and is now treating
John to a night of romance in his jail cell. As they cuddle and cooo, Marlena,
who has heard about John being sent back to the slammer, arrives to express
her concern. Marlena is upset to see how close John and Kristen are [and she
leaves before being seen], but she manages to cover. [Laura knows Marlena
is hiding her feelings for John.] When Laura mentions Stefano having been
struck by lightning, Marlena rushes to his side. Meanwhile, Stefano's memory
is back, and now he is afraid that Marlena will learn that her friend has
turned back into her enemy. [He recalls all the terrible things he did to
her and the Bradys. He realizes she would hate him if she knew he is the
old Stefano again, but then also realizes there's no reason she has to know
that his memory has returned.]
Next time: Stefano plots to make Marlena his. Kristen comes up with a plan
to keep John out of prison.

Ê
On Wednesday, the old Stefano is back, and he wants Marlena for
himself. He makes her an enticing offer to go away with him [he wants her
to go with him to Europe, where he intends to set up clinics and hospitals
for those less fortunate than him. Since Stefano's reputation precedes
him, he needs Marlena to help him], but Marlena refuses because she can't
live without John in her life, even if it's just as a friend. [Stefano's
offer to bring any of her friends to Europe, at his expense of course,
doesn't persuade her.] Stefano decides John must be removed, but how?
Soon after, Stefano finds out that the judge who is hearing John's case
[John has decided on a quick non-jury trial] is in debt to him from years
before. Stefano lets the judge know that his memory is back. "If you don't
do what I want, you'll be sorry." The judge gets the point loud and clear.
[Marlena and Mickey enter, and Stefano continues his amnesiac act.]
Meanwhile, Kristen and John continue to enjoy their evening together, but
Kristen is suddenly very troubled when she hears that her testimony is
crucial to proving John's innocence. She discovers that a wife doesn't
have to testify against her husband, and all at once, she thinks it's the
perfect time to become Mrs. John Black. [John is suspicious of this sudden
decision, but Kristen insists that the only reason she wants to marry him
is because she loves him. This from a woman who divorced her husband for
lying to her.] Bo and Hope have made plans for a romantic dinner for two,
but those plans fly out the window when Shawn-Douglas reminds his Dad that
he promised to take him fishing. [He tries to get out of it, but Hope tells
Bo that a promise is a promise. They can bring back the fish they catch
(already scaled and cleaned of course) and they'll have dinner tomorrow.]
It turns into a family outing when Hope joins them at the camp site.
[Bo tells a story about a princess. A common man falls in love with her,
and they marry. They have a son, a prince. "And they live happily ever
after?" says Shawn-Douglas. No, says Bo. An evil sorcerer takes the
princess away. Years later they find her again. But Bo doesn't know how
the story ends. He promises Shawn-Douglas he'll tell him when he knows.
As Shawn-Douglas sleeps in the tent, Bo and Hope get closer.]
Next time: Bo and Hope have some fun. Vivian strikes out with Victor.
Ê
Thursday, January 18, 1996
On Thursday, Bo is hot for Hope, and although she feels the same,
she thinks they should wait. [He goes into her tent to wake her, and she's
dreaming about him. He asks what she was smiling about - what was the dream?
She admits it was about him. Shawn-Douglas comes along and teases his mother
about talking in her sleep last night. All she said was "Bo... Bo... Bo..."]
To ease the sexual tension between them, Bo challenges Hope to a fishing
contest [to see who can catch the most fish. The loser has to make breakfast
in bed for the other for a week. Bo and Shawn-D fish in a different area than
Hope, and don't have much luck. They return to camp to find Hope cooking up
half a dozen trout. Unfortunately the forest ranger ruins Hope's trick when
he stops by to return the car keys she dropped, and a receipt from a local
fish market.] Later, they decide to go skiing. They pack to head up to the
mountains, unaware that Jude St. Clair is already there, waiting to get his
revenge on Hope. Carrie and Austin struggle to come to terms with their break-
up. Again fate intervenes, this time in the form of Victor Kiriakis, who
manages to get Carrie and Austin working together once more. Being so close
has an effect on them, but as always, Sami shows up to ruin the moment. [She
is upset to overhear the models from the photo shoot say they feel sorry for
baby Will since he's illegitimate. Austin comforts Sami and says he's proud
to have her as the mother of his son. Sami tells Lucas that she will find a
way to get Austin to marry her.] Vivian's campaign to make Victor jealous
backfires when Victor believes Vivian is happy in her new relationship with
Gregor. Before Vivian can tell Victor otherwise, he murmurs "I know now you
don't want the deep commited sort of love I'm looking for, so I will file for
divorce as soon as possible." [This is the anniversary of their 'wedding'.]
Vivian is about to throw in the towel when Ivan takes matters into his own
hands and goes to Victor on behalf of Madame. [He hands him the videotape
that Vivian made for the dating service, the one she wouldn't let Ivan use
-- the one where she admitted she was lonely and longed for someone to love,
a home, a family.]
Next time: Bo and Hope could be heading for a fall. Stefano takes care
of some unfinished business.
Friday, January 19, 1996
On Friday, John's trial is to begin in less than 24 hours. Kristen
is still not convinced of John's innocence and is desperate not to take the
witness stand because of her doubts. She goes to Peter, pleading with him
not to force her to testify. Out of love for his sister, Peter agrees not
to call Kristen to the stand unless it is absolutely necessary. Meanwhile,
John tries to remain up by remembering that Bo and Abe will find the real
killer, or at least uncover enough evidence to set him free [Abe and Bo don't
seem to be working too hard at it. John has Mickey draw up papers giving
Marlena custody of Brady in case anything should happen to him. Marlena is
upset and realizes that John could be found guilty. She tells him that she
will always be there for him. Kristen arrives and Marlena looks away whilst
she and John suck face. Funny how Kristen isn't sure of John's innocence,
yet she'll sleep with him and asked him to marry her.] Unfortunately for
John, Stefano's threats to blackmail the judge if he doesn't find John guilty
have worked. With the judge in his pocket, Stefano plans to press Peter to go
for the death penalty. [Kristen had come to see Stefano earlier, and she
confessed that she still has doubts about John and asked that they be married,
since she knows she wouldn't have to testify against him as his wife. Stefano
tells Kristen that she should continue to keep her doubts from John, but she
can't lie in court if she is called to testify. Lying under oath is wrong.
Stefano hints to Peter that it would be for Kristen's own good in the long
run if John were completely out of the picture. Peter agrees, and decides
to pursue the death penalty.] Bo, Hope, and Shawn-Douglas arrive at the ski
lodge. Hope challenges Bo to a race down one of the slopes tomorrow.
[She claims to be a better skier than him, and the loser will have to do
whatever the other person wants for an entire day. The two cuddle by the
fire as Shawn-Douglas sleeps.] Meanwhile, the ranger on duty hears a report
that avalanche conditions may be in the area. Thinking that no one is around
because of the bitter cold, he decides to wait until tomorrow to post the
warnings. If Bo and Hope don't spot that sign, it could be curtains for them.
