On Tuesday, Peter warns Jude to keep a low profile, but when Jude
spies on Bo kissing Hope [not exactly keeping a low profile, is he?], Jack
spots him [and he informs Bo and Hope, who go to Abe for assistance.] Jack
gives Peter and Jennifer the news that Jude is back in town [after interrupting
them while they were in bed. Peter wasn't too happy about that. Later, Jack
finds it strange that Jenn says Peter is making a phone call to his connections
in Washington or whatever so that they'll have all the help they need to find
Jude St. Clair. Until now, Peter was convinced that Jude had nothing to do
with Tony's murder.] Bo uses police dogs to try to track down the man [he
uses an article of clothing from the cabin where Jude took Hope to give the
dogs Jude's scent. Abe later finds one of Jude's gloves in the snow.] Peter
calls Jude to give him some more money to help him leave town. The parrot man
tells Celeste that he knows everything that has happened in Aremid. When Lexie
asks for help from the parrot man in the pub, he takes her to the graveyard.
Looking at the tombstones, Lexie is shocked to see that, according to what's
inscribed, her parents have been dead for over one hundred years [the birth-
death dates were hidden below the soil level]. Lucas ends up drinking too
much as he spends time with Carrie. [He encourages her to make a new start,
and continuously tells her how beautiful, sexy, wonderful, etc. she is.]
Carrie sends him to Hope's bedroom to sleep it off. After Austin goes to bed,
Sami heads to Carrie's place and drops some pills into Carrie's drink. [She
gets her to drink it by toasting to the New Year with her dear sister, and
then convinces her to finish off the bottle since there's only a little bit
left.] When Carrie passes out, Sami carries her into the bed with Lucas [and
disrobes her], who is passed out. She then rushes back but collapses from a
pain in her stomach. [Austin (who has been miserably dreaming about Carrie)
wakes up and struts around the apartment in his undies before noticing Sami
on the floor. She tells him to get Carrie for help.] Austin finds Carrie
in bed with Lucas.

On Wednesday, the search for Jude is on. The state police and search
dogs wait to pitch in. To keep his connection to Jude St. Clair a secret,
Peter has no choice but to help the guy get out of town. But as Peter guides
Jude out of the woods, they come across Jack and Jenn searching. They duck
out of sight before being seen, but Jude thinks that was too close for comfort,
and blackmails Peter into depositing money into an off-shore account. If you
don't, warns Jude, I will tell Jenn everything. Peter goes along with Jude's
demands, but as soon as they are out of the woods, Peter tells Jude that he is
on his own. [Peter only helped Jude get out of the woods because he was
familiar with the area. Jack meets up with Abe, Bo, Hope, and the other cops,
and no one has found Jude yet. Jack again gets suspicious when Peter says
Jude is probably long gone, and it's for the best for the safety of the people
in Aremid. Meanwhile, Jennifer is still wandering around and runs right into
Jude. She recognizes him and tries to get away, but an earlier ankle injury
impedes her. Jude realizes he now has a hostage should he need one.] Bo and
Hope both wonder how their New Year's kiss will affect their future relation-
ship. They both admit they felt passion, but Bo wants to be sure before they
move forward. I'm sorry, sighs Hope, but I'm not sure that I can give you the
time that you need to sort things out. Back home, Austin is reeling after
finding Carrie in bed with Lucas. [He sees Carrie drowsily snuggle up to
Lucas, unaware that she's dreaming of Austin. Later, Carrie and Lucas awake
and neither remember how they ended up together. Lucas is convinced that it
means Carrie cares for him, because she came to him.] Austin returns alone
to tend to Sami who is now passed out on the floor. Austin rushes her to the
hospital. [When Wendy and Jonah see what's going on, they want to tell Carrie,
but Austin tells them not to disturb her. Later, Wendy calls Carrie and leaves
a message on her machine. When she hears it, she and Lucas rush over to the
hospital, where Austin is very cold to her. He's worried about Sami, too,
because she doesn't seem to be responding to the medication.]
Next time, Jennifer has the goods on Peter and Jude, but she doesn't even
know it. Stefano's memories of the past leave him troubled.

On Thursday, Jennifer is captured by Jude in the woods. He drags
her back to his hideout, an old shack that's hidden in the forest. After
tying her up, Jude goes back out again and this time, he runs into Jack.
[Jude threatens Jack with a knife, but Jack says he's in a bad mood and
ready for a fight. The two struggle, and Jack gets the knife away from
him. He intends to take Jude straight to the police, but he informs Jack
that if he does so, Jennifer will die. He has taken her hostage, and if
Jack turns him in, he will never reveal where she is. Jack lets Jude go,
and he reminds him not to try to follow him either.] Meanwhile, Jennifer
escapes and makes a run for it. She meets up with Jack and the others.
They get angry when they find out that Jack let Jude go. [Jack decides
that Jennifer would be upset to learn that she was the reason he let Jude
go, since Jennifer really wants to help John prove his innocence. However,
Jenn says that Jude insisted he didn't murder Tony, and he seemed sincere.
John (who stayed with Kristen the night before, but they didn't make love
because of the situation he's in) is not happy to hear that his only chance
of clearing himself may be a false Hope. Kristen keeps her doubts of John
hidden from him.] Jennifer explains that Jude is really angry with Hope
[because she injured him]. Hope decides to be the bait to lure Jude out of
hiding. Bo doesn't like this scheme one little bit. As they argue, Jennifer
gazes at the matchbook she picked up on the shed floor. This particular
matchbook holds the account number of where Peter has money stashed under his
own name for Jude. Having no idea that this clue links Peter to Jude,
Jennifer slips the matchbook into her pocket and heads back to the honeymoon
cottage with Peter. [He arranges for them to take a nice hot bath together,
and tells her to get out of her wet clothes. She empties her pockets onto
a table. Hope confronts Bo as to why he's being so protective of her, but
she can't get a straight answer from him. Upset, she tells him she can't
deal with his mixed signals. She then talks to Jack and gets him to admit
he let Jude go because he was protecting Jennifer.] Stefano is having
flashbacks about the necklace he gave a woman a long time ago. He also
remembers how violent he became when she refused his gift. [Marlena feels
she's being 'watched', and she is. The lady in white stares at Stefano and
Marlena from outside.]
Next time, Stefano plays mind games with Kristen, and Hope gets impatient
with Bo's indecision.
Friday, January 5, 1996
On Friday, Kristen feels guilty about not telling John that she's
not convinced of his innocence. Stefano, who wants to keep John away from
Marlena, urges Kristen not to tell John the truth. "After all", he cautions,
"it would only hurt him, and we both know how much John needs you now."
Kristen agrees. She also clings to the hope that once Jude is found, he
will clear John's name. [Abe brings by the news that Peter has initiated
the legal process and there will be a hearing. John plans to make this night
a special one for him and Kristen, and tells a guilty Kristen that he's sure
things will be OK when she testifies that she has no doubts about his
innocence. Marlena and Laura chat about Laura's continued feelings for Jack
and Laura claims that Marlena's feelings for John are also obvious. Marlena
warns Laura not to make the same mistake she did and give in to her feelings.
She caused a lot of pain to her family.] Marlena realizes that she and John
can never be together [why the heck not? She and Roman are divorced], so she
needs to find someone else. She overhears Stefano talking about how wonderful
she is. Marlena is flattered and agrees to have dinner with him. Meanwhile,
Jennifer and Peter enjoy a romantic day together, but deep down Jennifer is
troubled by Jack's theory that Peter and Jude are somehow involved. [Peter
is deeply hurt that Jennifer has doubts about him, and she realizes that it's
ridiculous, and the two make up and have sex. Jennifer sees the bank account
numbers in the matchbook when she lights some candles, but doesn't know what
it means.] Hope is frustrated by Bo's concern for her. She knows Bo has
feelings for her, but there are still obstacles in the way. Hope is also
annoyed with Bo for refusing to commit. [He wants to take things slow and
be sure of his feelings.] She is tempted to walk away but she won't because
she loves him too much. Pushing thoughts of Bo out of her mind, Hope goes on
that stake-out, hoping to flush Jude out of hiding. Bo is worried about Hope
and tracks her down. [He sneaks up behind her and she nearly shoots him.
She is angry and can't understand why he's being so protective of her if he
doesn't love her. Bo tells her he *does* love her, and they kiss.]
