Roman tells Caroline he never wants to see Marlena again. Marlena tells Alan to leave and tells Sami she can't see him as he's too old. Sami orders her to get out but Marlena stands firm! Then Roman arrives and tells Marlena to leave while Sami looks smug (being the perfect individual she is how can we really expect her to tolerate being in the presence of imperfection?). Marlena refuses to leave. Roman agrees with Marlena that Sami can't see Alan as he's too old and Sami asks Marlena why she has to ruin everything. She rings Alan to tell him she can still see him but he says he doesn't want the hassle.
In the courthouse Lucas tells everyone that he killed Curtis, describing what he did and getting Bo and Carrie to corroborate what he's saying about the speeding ticket and the fact that he was looking for Curtis that night. Bo arrests Lucas. Vivian uses the opportunity to tell Victor how perfectly dreadful she feels for him and the embarrassment he has suffered.
The judge calls a mistrial, which Mickey explains isn't as good as a dismissal because with a mistrial you can be tried for the crime again. Essentially though Billie is free. On her way out Kate screams at Billie "This is all fault you little tramp!". Gee Mooom, that's not so nice.
Everyone goes back to Carrie and Billie's for a surprise birthday party and a congratulations to Billie party. Alan starts talking to Carrie about the attack, saying it's obvious now it must have been Lucas. Carrie gets upset and freaks out when the lights go off for her birthday candles to be blown out. She tells Austin that the only way she's going to get over it is by going back and having their special weekend. Obviously Alan overhears their plans.
John turns up at Marlena's to see Belle. She's upset because Roman hates her and Sami despises her. They have dinner and talk about Stefano being after the Brady's and Marlena asks him if that's all or if it's also because of Kristen and Tony that he's so desperate to prove Stefano's still alive.
Roman goes to wish happy birthday to Carrie and tells Sami to stop going on about Marlena, that they have to put the past behind them. She tries to get Alan back and they dance.
Bo can't understand why Billie isn't happier to be free but then they go up onto the roof with a bottle of wine and she cheers up. They dance together and he tells her all the nice things about her he likes and she's happy.
Tony tells Kristen he's bought Stefano's house and she's happy. Jen is still there with Peter and they all celebrate the new house together (though Peter doesn't look so happy about it). Jen asks to speak to Kristen alone and Jen seemed to be going to ask her something but she didn't. Kristen is happy about Jen and Peter getting on so well and tells Tony she's so happy, if only Stefano was there.
Someone with a black glove on posts a letter to John.
Billie has a nightmare of Roman locking her up in jail for the rest of her life. Bo knocks on her door and wakes her and she tells him about the dream. He says she won't be going to jail but she says she's still confused about how the gun with her fingerprints on them got into her apartment. Bo says they're going to question Lucas about that. Then he suggests he and Billie go somewhere to be alone. They go to the beach to pretend they're on her island paradise. Billie sees engraved into a tree "Bo + Hope" and realises Bo has been there before with Hope. Bo says he's over Hope now and he and Billie have a future together. Then it starts raining. They go back to the boat and are probably about to do the deed when Shawn-Douglas rings to tell them they have to come to a party.
Victor goes to see Lucas in jail and asks him for the truth. Lucas says he killed Curtis and wants Kate to have happiness with Victor. Victor says she'll have no happiness without Lucas.
Laura and Jen go through Laura's old things and Laura grieves for the time she has lost and identity she has lost. They do her make-up and Laura feels shocked at her age looking in the mirror. Laura asks to see photos of Jack but Jen says she's put them all away so the viewers won't get confused when the actor who will replace Matthew Ashford later this year starts. Then they talk about Peter and Jen's feelings for him. Alice rings with a surprise. Jen tries to phone Bill again but can't get through. Jen brings her a photo of Bill and says how noble he is. When she goes Laura says "Hardly" and tears up the photo.
Alice and Maggie go to Brady's and see Caroline looking down because Shawn's forgotten today's the day he proposed to her, which they usually celebrate. Alice and Maggie say what a difficult time it's been for the Bradys and the Hortons (since when hasn't it been?). They also wonder why Laura's so interested in the murder trial. Maggie remembers the strain there was before Bill and Laura before Laura was committed and wonders if Laura has anymore surprises in store for them. Shawn arrives and has remembered their proposal anniversary. He gives Caroline a ring.
Abe and Roman question Lucas. Lucas tells his story of what happened the night of Curtis's death. They suggest they don't believe him and Lucas can't believe that after the weeks of being hassled by Bo, now they won't believe him. Victor won't let him sign a confession but Lucas says he'll sign it.
Everyone heads to Alice's party, but no-one knows why she's throwing it. Billie nearly doesn't go because she's worried that if Lucas retracts his statement she'll be back on trial, but Roman brings round the signed confession and says she's off the hook!
Jen is upset that the cake she ordered for the party fell on the ground and is ruined but Peter looks like he's going to fix things up.
Kate doesn't go to the party because she's so upset about Lucas she had to be sedated. So Vivian uses the opportunity to chat Victor up. Marlena and John turn up at the same time so of course it looks like they arrived together which upsets Roman, Sami and Carrie.
Alice tells everyone the party is a celebration of faith to help lift everyone's spirits. Vivian feels like throwing up, however the speech makes Carrie decide she definitely wants to go back to the ski lodge to have her weekend with Austin. Sami's mad at Carrie for telling Marlena about Alan and tells Carrie to stay out of her life. Carrie worries about what trouble Sami could get into.
Laura tells Vivian how Jen told her about Kate's help when Abbie was sick. Vivian tells her not to go soft and urges Laura to tell the rest of Kate's secrets. She wonders if Bill is part of the secret. Laura says she never wants to see him again.
Billie wants to leave the party because reporters keep showing up to take photos of her and Bo together. Peter gets a cake to the party and Jen is ever so grateful! Laura thinks he's wonderful too. Laura thanks Austin for donating bone marrow to Abbie and he thanks her for helping get Billie off the hook. He asks her if she remembers what gender kids Kate had but she can't remember.
Roman makes a speech about Mom and Pop and loving couples trusting each other and lots of other things that make Marlena feel even more guilty and sad. Then Alice proposes a toast to Tony and Kristen's new marriage. Marlena wonders if Roman is thinking of them and goes to talk to him but he walks off and she goes off crying.
She goes to talk to Sami to ask her to put her bitterness aside but Sami remains solid in her self-righteous self. She arranges to meet Alan after the party and makes Jamie say she'll be staying at her place.
Kristen goes looking for Tony but obviously finds John instead. She makes a snide comment about why he's in that room - reliving old memories of his and Marlena's affair?
Bill turns up at the party and Laura doesn't look so happy. Billie waits for Bo to go and get his motorcycle and sees Curtis standing them - well, it's more flashes of Curtis not really him standing there in the flesh.
The hallucination of Curtis tells Billie just because Lucas signed the confession it's not over yet. He tells her the answer to the murder is in Billie's head. She screams, he disappears, Bo comes and takes her back to the boat and he reminds her the murder charges are behind her. She can't remember how they got to the boat. He says she asked him to take her home and he instinctively brought her back to the boat. He gives her a necklace with her birthstone and that if she's afraid to touch it and she'll know he's there for her.
John asks Kristen whether she'd still have married Tony if she hadn't found out about John and Marlena? She says she loves Tony so much they're going to try for a baby. Then she reaccuses him of killing Stefano. Stefano rings Peter and asks after all the kiddies. He says they're all well. Stefano tells Peter it's time for phase 2 of his plan and for Peter to keep an eye on the Bradys and John and that things with John are going to begin tonight.
Marlena persuades Roman they need to work together to help Sami. He agrees and says he'll think about what to do and walks off. Bill and Laura reunite and in her head she blames him for her catatonia - she blames him and her.....
Maggie does a thank you speech to Alice. Alice does a speech of how her faith is confirmed by Bill being back, and Jen finishes it saying how perfect it is Bill and Laura being there together. Strange how no-one but us and Vivian have noticed Laura doesn't look so thrilled.
Carrie worries about Sami heading for trouble. Sami's out with Alan and says to Jamie on the 'phone she will prove she can look after herself. She suggests to Alan they go somewhere a little quieter. Then she kisses him. Alan says he thinks they should take it slow and that he feels protective over her because he knows how much Carrie worries about her. Sami wonders how their conversations always come back round to Carrie and tells him she thinks he's more interested in Carrie than in her. Alan says they're just friends. He says to Sami there could be an 'us' and kisses her. He invites her back to his place and while she's getting her coat he says "Maybe I can't have you, Carrie, but I can have your sister". Back at the party Carrie shivers.
Tony and Kristen dance and kiss while John looks upset. Then the music that reminds him of his past is played and Peter smiles at how it affects him. John asks Peter about the music but Peter tells him he's got nothing to do with it, that if Stefano was alive he could take care of things all by himself.
Laura and Bill dance while Alice and Jen watch happily. Alice notices Laura looks tense but Jen thinks she's just overwhelmed. Bill tells Laura how natural it feels. He says he remembers they had problems before, but that he waited years for her to come back and he knew that they'd be together sometime. She says she has to sit down.
Roman tells Marlena he 'phoned Jamie and Sami's fine and studying. He says maybe they could put into an agreement the finances and things with the kids. He tells her he's filing for divorce.
John goes to the park and sits on a park bench and disturbs a man sleeping there who says his name is Gabriel, or Gabe. They talk and John tells him how his life derailed and there are things about himself he doesn't know. Gabe wonders if he could help and maybe their meeting wasn't accidental. John says he senses his life's about to change. Gabe says he's right, and there may be trouble but not to worry, John, he won't be alone. John asks how he knows his name and turns around but Gabe has gone. John goes home and gets the letter that was posted yesterday. In the envelope is a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. "Stefano" he says.
Vivian tries to get out of Laura why she's do angry at Bill but Laura won't tell her. Laura goes to see Kate. Marlena waits in the rain for someone to come and fix her car. No-one comes then Roman arrives and says 'get in'. Billie and Bo start to make love but things he says remind her of Curtis. She stops but then they keep going but then she thinks of Curtis again and screams "no".
