Lawrence, Carly and Vivian are watching Sandra Stevens on TV, threatening to expose them in her investigation when Nikki overhears the TV. He wants to know what is going on and Lawrence tells him that the police are investigating Lisanne's death but that it was an accident. He notices the rug and the cat statue have gone but Lawrence tells him they have given them away. Down at the station, Bo realizes that the cat statue is gone also. The real lead comes when Tiff, the hooker recognizes a photo of Lawrence as the jerk that was in the woods late at night.
Jack and Jenn are at Wings and Jack is looking for the contact with the red carnation--all to do with Billie's ad and the money. Trust me, you really don't wanna know. Billie and Austin are there but Billie hasn't read the Spectator and doesn't know anything about the carnation. She finds a Spectator, but it is too late and she misses Jack.
Marlena is still hugging Roman and he reminds her of the poem she read to him at the Inn. (That would be the Elizabeth Barret Browning one ) What I do, and what I dream include thee.< He says that's how it will be for him, for the rest of his life. She begins to cry again as she tells him she loves him and she doesn't deserve him. She is in his arms again when John opens the door. It is several moments before her psychic connection kicks in and she moves her eyes to the door where he is peeking in. Roman feels her stiffen and pull away and asks if something is wrong. At the same time, several of the Brady clan see John at the door and pull him in. He tells them the plane was delayed because of the rain. Marlena pales as Sami tells him Carrie went out to the airport to find him. Most of the party follows John over to the food table and Roman tells him that they're glad he could make it. Meanwhile Marlena escapes to the other corner of the room, followed by the ever-persistent Kim. She tells Marlena she's as pale as a ghost and asks if she's alright. Marlena , who is patently not alright, as evidenced by the shaking hand that's about to slop drink all over the table, tells Kim that she's fine. Roman gets a call from the station and takes it in the kitchen, John goes to talk to Caroline and Marlena, in avoidance mode, crosses the room to talk to Jonah. Unfortunately for her, John follows her and she turns around to get the fright of her life as he is standing beside her. She asks him what he is doing there. He says she was so upset he was a little worried about her. He tells her he is sorry about walking into the party, he had no idea. She says neither did she, she was so wrapped up in her feelings for him she forgot it was her anniversary today. And then she came home and Roman was celebrating their marriage and He says it's okay. She says no it's not and he *has* to go. She escapes as Carrie and Sami accost John, wanting to know why he was leaving without telling them. Bo and Taylor leave and Marlena tires to avoid John's eyes for several moments. Kim observes to Jon that both he and Marlena are very quiet tonight. She asks if he is okay he says of course and she says how come she doesn't believe him. Of course at that moment, the strains of Unchained Melody fill the Brady living room and, it being Marlena's favourite song, she and Roman are told they have to dance. Her eyes can't help but stray to John and then she can't seem to move them as she sways in Roman's arms. Meanwhile, John is having flashbacks to the steamy scene which has just occurred on the plane. Marlena can't look at him anymore and buries her face in Roman's neck.
Kim and Phillip leave, Kim hugging Marlena and telling her that if she needs someone to talk to she is there. Roman decides to walk Tom and Alice home, leaving Marlena at the house with John and the kids. In a panic Marlena races upstairs, and while Sami, Carrie and Jonah are playing with the stereo, John surreptitiously follows her up. At the Horton's, Alice exhorts Roman to join them at Wings. He declines, apparently he has other plans, *if* he can get everyone out of the house. Back at his house, up in the bedroom, Marlena is staring out of the rain-drenched window and sobbing her heart out. John comes in and sees her sobbing in front of the bed. She hears him and turns round. She says that he shouldn't be there, Roman might come in. He says that Roman will think that they were talking about the kids or that he was wishing her a happy anniversary. He is nearing her and she has to close her eyes and tell him not to come any closer. He knows how she feels. Uh-uh he doesn't, she betrayed her husband. But he betrayed a friend. He tells her it was no more her fault than his and he is *so* sorry. The tears streaming down her face, she tells him that they have to go back to how they were before. Just friends. He tells her they can't. They had a chance at that before tonight, but not now. It's just too late. She tells him she doesn't know what he's saying. He tells her they can't pretend tonight didn't happen. She tells him, a tad angrily, that her loyalty is with Roman. And he feels that he betrayed Isabella just as much as Roman, but he can't take that back. She tells him he has to try. He said that it was better that he leave Salem that if he didn't he would end up hurting Roman and now they have. She turns around, somewhat shell-shocked. She can't believe that this is happening to her. She realizes that this is what patients say to her all the time. She can't believe that she lied to herself, she doesn't know how this happened. (That's pathetic Mar. You wanted it to happen. You really wanted to love him!) She doesn't know *why* it happened. John comes up behind her and tells her it's because they loved each other for a *long* time. She begins to cry again as he leans over her shoulder and tells her it's because they shared that *bed*, they shared their *lives*. He tries to touch her but she brushes him away and tries to compose herself. He says that suddenly Roman came back into the picture and it was over, just like *that*. He snaps his fingers and Marlena, nods, her fingers pressed to her lips as thought she is afraid of what she'll say if she opens her mouth. John looks down and then looks back up again, almost as if he is surprised. "It wasn't ever over was it? It's not in our hearts . is it?" Marlena struggles for a moment and then says that she loves Roman, and that she can't do this to him. She faces John, who tells her that he knows. She looks grateful for at least that small mercy as she walks past him. But then he delivers the blow. He tells her that he also knows he can't leave. He doesn't know what the future is going to hold but he is not the sort of man that walks out on a situation. Marlena swallows heavily. He says that he is going to stay right here and face the consequences. She turns to him, her eyes full of fear and hope and confusion and repeats that he's not going to leave. He tells her that he will if she wants him to, all she has to do is say. But she can't say, however much she knows she should. All she can do is cry and say 'Oh God'. He tells her that he has his answer and leaves the room as she moans. Reaching for a picture of she and Roman her crying becomes uncontrollable.
John reaches the downstairs of the house and pulls on his coat just as Roman gets home. Roman offers to take him to the airport as the storm is letting up but John tells them he has an announcement to make. Marlena comes downstairs just before he tells them that he is not leaving Salem, well not yet anyway. He has realized that he has a few things to take care of yet. Everyone is thrilled .except a stunned Marlena, on whose face we fade out.

NO Mar today....no John....barely any Roman....
What was my excuse for watching again????? We watched a lot of drivel but none of it was interesting. REALLY. We kid you not. Carrie and Austin Dancing at Wings, Billie freaking out about Cash, Bo taking the hooker out to the woods (ooh-er!) And that was about it. Seriously.

Trying very hard to remember what happened in this episode. The usual Jenn and Jack stuff....Carly deciding that she has to tell Nikkithat she is his mother.....John telling Vic that he has decided to stayin Salem for a while.
Marlena has a nightmare while asleep in the morning. It's a plane flashback (mmmmm....) but she is saying that she can'tdo this to Roman. She wakes Roman up calling his name. He wantsto know what it was but she says it was just shadows and images. He says she was sorry that she was asleep when she got home and then commentshow strange it was that John suddenly decided to stay. Then of coursehe asks Marlena where she was before she got home and that he noticed thatshe was upset about something. He thinks he knows what it is - it'sKim. She says yeah, that's it. Later they are kissing when Sami comes in with breakfast and Marlena finally agrees to let her stay.
Roman goes to work and Marlena goes to the hospital whereshe has a session with Kim. They both spend the first part of thesession trying to avoid their own problems by dealing with the other. Marlena doesn't want to talk about John at all and Kim knows somethingis up. Later, after Kim leaves, Marlena runs into John outside heroffice.....
Thursday 11th February 1993

Kim and Carly go over to the Alamains and want tosee Nikki. Viv won't let them and insults are thrown around untilLawrence comes in and tells Viv that they can see the kid. They takeNikki out to Johnny Angels and Kim talks to him. After they are finishedshe tells Carly that Nikki is ready to hear that she is his mother.
Jack decides that he is going to scoop Sandra Stevenson the Alamain story and puts his best reporter on it. Jenn triesto talk him out of it but to no avail. She warns Carly blah blahblah.... Out in the woods, Bo is searching for the cat and rug but running out of time. Neither Roman nor Rebecca are being totallyhelpful but when someone sees Ivan some way off Bo decides that they aretrying to put him off the real trail.
John comes into Marlena's office and she asks him to leave,she doesn't have time for this. He tells her to make time but shewants to forget the plane ever happened. He tells it won't be easy. She says not if they keep seeing each other, they just have to stop doingthis. He grabs her arm and says they need to talk. She tellshim the last time they talked, the last time they were alone, they endedup in each others arms, she broke her wedding vows, she has never donethat before and she never ever wants that to happen again. John reachesout for her face but she tries to jump away. He tells her he didn'tcome there to make love to her and she says she didn't go to the planeto make love to him, it just happened. He says that they couldn'thelp it. He knows that she feels that she broke her vows to Roman,but she made those vows to him once too. She has tears in her eyesas she says she knows but Roman came home then. John says that suddenlyit was as if their marriage never happened - it was just one big mistakeand it didn't mean anything. He says but it counted to him, and hethinks it counted to her too. She tells him she is wearingRoman's ring, and he is wearing Isabella's ring and they can't excuse orexplain what happened last night. It's over - it's over for all time. He asks her if turning around and running away from him is going to makeit over. He tells her it's not over and after last night he realizedthat it will never *be* over, he will always love her. She can't look at him as she tries to contain the tears. He tellsher he didn't come here to lay anything on her and he really wishes hedidn't feel this way, but you can't help the way you feel right? She tells him that they can't ever see each other alone again. Hesays it would be hard but she says they have to do it...she's *not* leaving Roman. He says he wouldn't ask her to. He doesn't want to hurt Roman and he doesn't want to hurt her. Her eyes fill with those huge ol' tears again when she says she doesn't want to hurt him either. He whispers "bye Doc" and she says goodbye. As he walks past herto the door, the tears escape and trickle down her cheeks.
Later Marlena runs into Sami who asks her if somethingis wrong because she looks terrible. Marlena tells her she hurt herfeelings (Sheesh...obviously not something she is used to hearing ;0)) and Sami tells her that she has to look better for the benefit partytonight. She drags her off to the spa where they have a great motherdaughter afternoon. They come out, Mar looking gorgeous (*LOVE* thatsuit!) and Sami looking like a lioness with all that hair. They are giggling in Salem place when Marlena spies John and she quickly moves Samioff......
Friday 12th February 1993

It is the night of the hospital/PD benefit and Bo is stilldigging in the woods. Carly comes back to the house and tells Lawrencethat it is okay to tell Nikki now. Lawrence manages to stall hertill the following morning and everyone ends up at the benefit. Carlytells Bo she will be able to tell him everything tomorrow (which I stilldon't get...what difference does telling the kid they are his parents maketo the whole business??) Anyway....There is an altercation between Lawrence and Bo at the party and Roman has to step in and tell Bo to backoff. Bo suddenly has an idea and tells Roman and Taylor that theyhave to get down to the station. They meet John and Reblecha on theirway in and Rebecca ends up going with them (big loss....NOT!). At the station Bo says that Lawrence may own some land there and that mightnarrow the search area. Meanwhile Lawrence gets a call from his contactand discovers that Bo may be onto him. He rushes down to the area and digs up the stone cat...only to be nabbed by Roman, Bo and Rebecca.
Carrie is going to the benefit, but without Austin. It's Valentines Day (oh yeah - BTW....it's Valentines day) and they aregoing to surprise each other. Carrie calls Sami and asks her to getsome stuff together. Sami meets her outside of Wings but Carrie can'tget away so Sami has to take the stuff up to the apartment. At theelevator she meets up with Austin but the elevator stops on them and thenthey are plunged into darkness as Sami starts hyperventilating....
Caroline goes to see John and tells him she can see heis unhappy, very unhappy, won't he talk to her about it? He tellsher he can't and manages to shift her out the door without too much timepassing. At the party Vic catches up with Caroline and asks her aboutJohn. Caroline senses that he is unhappy, very unhappy but she shouldn't be talking to Victor about John...or anything. John is going to theparty with Blecha but before she arrives he goes out and talks to the Ickster's star. After a bit of a struggle and a few tears, he takes off and pockets his wedding ring. Right about then there is a knock onthe door.....they exchange compliments, head out to the party where Rebecca is hijacked by the aforementioned three musketeers.
Skipping back a couple of hours, Marlena is getting readyfor the party (with her hair down now because Sami's 'daddy likes it that way'). She opens a drawer and slips out a photo of she and John, (the one in the yellow sweater!). Roman sneaks up behind her butshe slides it back into the drawer before he sees it. They kiss butshe avoids anything more by saying as they are filling in for Lexie andAbe, shouldn't they be getting ready for the party? She pulls outher beaded white dress and says that she hasn't worn it since the night of the Arts Council benefit. Then they realize that that was thenight they had that fight and she was kidnapped by Stella. Suddenly they don't like that dress anymore. She chooses a low-backed blacksequined one while Roman tells her how much stronger their marriage issince they went through all that. (Funny how all of a sudden people are commenting on the wonders of Roman and Marlena's marriage...it seems even people that barely know them!) Later they arrive at the party,but Roman is soon hustled out with Bo into another storyline and Marlenais left alone. She goes out onto the balcony where John, who wasabout to drive back home, sees her. Kim comes out and tells her thatif she wants to talk about anything...she is here for her. Marlenadoesn't wanna talk and heads back inside. It is time for the bigmoneymaker of the night. They are drawing a name and that personcan be bid on for a dance. Tom draws the name and it is Marlena EvansBrady. Marlena is surprised and Shawn starts off the bidding at $100. There is a flurry of bidding before one deep voice rings out clear overthe rest. One hundred thousand. Everyone is silent and askingwhat. Mickey asks him to repeat it. As Marlena turns aroundto face John he repeats that he is bidding one hundred thousand.....
