Billie fed the guard dog which made it turn friendly. Bo then found a karaoke machine and decided to sing. They sang "Winter Wonderland" together. They then discovered a Christmas tree and decided to decorate it to really get into the spirit.
At the hospital, Tom and Alice read the Christmas story at the children's party, as Kate, Victor, Roman, Marlena and maggie watched. Mickey came as Santa Claus. Kate told Marlena that she was sorry for what Marlena was going through and told her that she knew what it was like to lose a child.
Jen tried to get Laura to speak again but a nurse arrived giving Laura her medication and making her unable to talk. Jen figured that she must have imagined hearing Laura talk. Jennifer decided to arrange for Laura to come to Salem for the holidays much to the horror of Vivian.
Sami was told by Mr Miller's secretary that he was busy so Sami left, unseen by John and Kristen. She later returned to his office and was not impressed that Mr Miller had found another couple. She told Miller that she did not want a local couple, but rather a couple from outside of Salem.
John and Kristen told Roman and Marlena that they felt they were close to finding Belle. John explained that he had a feeling that the baby they were talking about at Miller's office was Belle.
Wendy saw Abe at the Brady pub and told him that she thought the way he was treating Lexie and Jonah was inexcusable. Abe tried to explain his feelings of betrayal to her but Wendy explained that at Christmas time he should be forgiving.
Jonah encouraged Lexie to try to get into medical school. He told her that he would help her study for the exams which would be held in January. Lexie was hesitant but agreed to try.
Shawn and Caroline were organising the Christmas party at the pub with Father Kyle, Mickey, Maggie, Austin and Carrie. Fr Kyle explained that there were not enough toys for all the children. Mickey rang Mr Barron, who owns Barron's department store, and told everyone that Mr Barron had allowed them to fill two boxes of toys. Shawn, Mickey, Austin and Carrie went over to Barron's and while they were collecting toys, Bo and Billie pretended they had just walked in from the street.
Lucas asked Kate for a donation to the party, so that he could impress Carrie but Kate refused. Victor, however agreed to help. Lucas went to Barron's and announced that they could buy as many toys that were needed. Carrie was not impressed by Lucas' actions.
At the party, Kate and Billie argued over Countess Wilhemina. Kate told Billie that she was a loser just like Curtis. Billie asked how Kate knew about Curtis and Kate tried to cover up by saying that she had read about him in the paper. Billie was not convinced.
Alice was worried about Tom and Jennifer and Caroline tried to reassure her that he would pull through.
Tom's health continued to deteriorate and he had memory lapses, not realising it was Christmas time and later not recognising Jennifer. Dr Withers told Alice his chances were not good. In the lounge Jennifer broke down and was comforted by Peter.
Stefano and Peter were bemoaning about Tony and Kristen's postponed marriage. Peter suggested telling Tony about Kristen's affair with John but Stefano said that would be a mistake.
Tony returned to Salem saying he had a surprise for Kristen. He told Kristen, Alice and Jennifer that he had arranged for Dr LeBlanc, the french specialist, to fly to Salem with his medical team to operate on Tom. Everyone was delighted and Kristen was especially grateful to Tony for organising such a wonderful thing.
John and Kristen rang Miller to try and hurry up the proceedings for the adoption. Miller did not tell John about the mother's request that the couple be non-Salemites. He only explained that there would be a delay in the adoption but John insisted that things be hurried along.
Sami reiterated to Miller her desire that the parents be non-Salemites. He tried to convince her otherwise but Sami would not listen. Later John told Sami that the police were close to catching the kidnapper.
Tom was taken into surgery while Alice, Jennifer, Mickey, Maggie waited anxiously. Kristen and Alice were very grateful to Tony for flying Dr LeBlanc in to operate.
Miller lied to Sami saying that he had found an out of town couple to adopt her baby. Later Sami told Caroline that she would not attend midnight mass with the family because she was spending the night with Jamie who was alone because her parents were out of town.
Miller rang John and told him the mother had agreed to the adoption. Sami overheard Shawn telling Bo that the police were watching the adoption lawyer's office and when the mother showed up she would be caught. Sami panicked and asked Mr Miller to move the meeting place to a restaurant out of town. At the restaurant, Sami was anxiously waiting for Miller to appear when John approached her and asked what she was doing there.
Jen and Austin arrived at Pinehaven to take Laura back to Salem. Vivian overheard two nurses saying Laura's doctor had gone to California. Viv had Ivan steal Laura's authorisation from her file. The nurse told Jen that the doctor had not okayed Laura's leave and that she had to stay. Jennifer was heartbroken but Austin had the doctor fax another letter of authorisation. Kate thanked Bo for agreeing to visit Victor on Christmas day, telling Bo how much Victor would appreciate it. She told Bo of her and Vic's plan to have a child of their own.
At St Luke's Bo suggested that Billie sing at the midnight mass as the church choir was snowbound in another town.
Tom's surgery was a success. Alice and the Hortons were extremely glad. Alice, Mickey, Maggie and Jen brought the Horton Christmas tree and the Horton ornaments to Tom's hospital room. While putting the ornaments on the tree, Tom complained that it was a shame that Julie and Doug weren't there for the holidays. Alice claimed she had a surprise. She opened the door and Doug and Julie walked in much to everyone's delight. Doug and julie announced that they had remarried in Switzerland.
Stefano had a go at Tony for leaving Salem, and Kristen, for so long just to get a doctor for Tom. He told Tony that he should be pursuing Kristen more. Tony told Stefano to butt out.
Fr Kyle tried to get Billie to agree to sing at mass. Billie told him that she hadn't been to church in years and that she was not a good person. Fr Kyle told her that it is never too late to return and that God accepted and forgave everyone. Billie agreed to sing and did so at the mass.
Sami told John that she was meeting Jamie and her parents for dinner but she thought she had the wrong restaurant. John then told her that he and Kristen were there to meet a lawyer and a girl who possibly had Belle. Sami panicked and returned to University Hospital to ask Jamie, who was working, if she could borrow her credit cards. Jamie gave them to Sami and all of this was witnessed by Stefano. Sami arrived at the airport, hoping to escape Salem with Belle.
Kristen told Stefano how she was frightened that Sami would blow their cover at the restaurant. Stefano then told Kristen about Sami and her desperate need for money. Kristen figured out that Sami was the mother and with John they raced to the airport.
At the mass Marlena told the congregation she was grateful for their support. As Billie sang, John and Kristen came in with Belle and handed her to Marlena.
