John was surprised to see Kristen on the pier and not on her honeymoon. He then saw that she was not wearing a wedding ring. He immediately assumed that she had cancelled the wedding because of him. Kristen explained that she loved Tony and the only reason she had postponed the wedding was because of Belle. She explained that she thought she could get information from the street people who did not trust strangers or the police. John and Kristen decided to continue their investigations independently and share any results. Bo, still in the bathtub, pulled Billie, fully clothed, in with him. She got out and wrapped herself in a towel while her dress dried. Bo told her that he wanted to make love to her but knew they should wait until she was cleared of the Curtis Brown murder. They heard a noise on deck and Bo discovered the photographer from the tabloid newspaper going through his garbage. Bo told him to leave but he tried to get Bo to give him information about the murder. Bo again told him to leave. Billie was frightened by all the publicity Bo was receiving from the case.
Sami, calling herself Nancy White, saw the adoption lawyer. He asked her some questions and Sami made up a story about being a single mother. He told her that for the adoption to go through he would need the birth certificate. Sami was upset but was determined to get around this obstacle. She went to the hospital where she struck up a conversation with a doctor who was in charge of births. The doctor explained to Sami how the birth certificate information was entered into the computer and sent to City Hall. The certificate was then sent to the parents. Sami entered false details into the computer and was almost caught by John who was following a lead. Tom told Alice to o home and get some rest but she insisted on staying with him. Mickey and Maggie came to visit Tom and brought a book on Venice. Tom explained that he knew that Alice had always wanted to visit venice and once he was better he was going to take her on a trip there. During the visit, Tom had another attack and was wheeled away for some tests, leaving Alice very distraught.
Kate, Victor and Lucas were decorating the Christmas tree when Victor's lawyer rang about Vivian. Kate used the time to talk to Lucas about his love life. She warned him that Brandee seemed an ambitious opportunistic girl who would take advantage of him. Lucas assured Kate that he and Brandee were just friends and the only girl he was interested in was Carrie. Kate was happy because she thought that Carrie was a nice girl. She told Lucas that she would arrange for Lucas to be involved with Countess Willhimena so that he could spend more time with Carrie.
Later Victor gave a toast saying that he was going to have the best Christmas ever because he was spending it with his new family. Kate confided in Victor that she felt bad about taking over Billie's company but wasn't changing her mind. Victor told Kate that for Bo's sake he wished Kate would but was not going to interfere. Ivan, under instructions from Vivian, continued to withhold Laura's medication in hopes that it would bring her out of her catatonic state. Vivian went to visit Laura and tried to provoke her into talking again by talking about Kate and showing her photos. Laura did not talk which frustrated Viv. Later Laura did move her hands. This delighted Vivian who has become convinced that Laura will be the key to her leaving Pinehaven. Laura had a fantasy where she visited Kate and attacked her for traumatising her and keeping her locked up for eighteen years. Vivian warned Laura not to talk in front of the doctors or nurses and to only speak in front of her or Ivan. As they left Laura spoke the words "Kill her"
Wendy was planning a dinner for her and Jonah at her apartment. She invited Carrie to join them and she reluctantly agreed. Moments later Carrie discovered that Austin had also been invited. After dinner Jonah, feeling bad about being expelled from medical school, left for the Cheating Heart. Wendy followed him. At the Heart, Jonah was about to get into a fight but Wendy called Austin to help. After Austin got rid of the antagonist, Wendy invited everyone back to her apartment but Austin refused, saying that Carrie did not want him there. While the others were gone, Carrie was visited by Lucas who told Carrie of their working together. Carrie was not impressed but Lucas told her that he was working in hopes of trying to get Billie her company back. Later Wendy warned Carrie not to trust Lucas and to try and work things out with Austin. Carrie told Wendy that the time she and Austin were together was magic but that was over now. As she said this Austin and Jonah walked in and heard what Carrie had said.
It seems Tom has a blood clot in one of his arteries and had an adverse reaction to his medication. His doctor is putting him on another medication and calling on some specialists for help. Alice is worried about Tom but Jen tried to reassure her that Tom would be fine.
Jen began her Christmas shopping and ran into Peter. He offered to help her with the shopping. He was surprised to learn that Jen had a daughter and expressed worry that her husband would be upset if he knew they were shopping together. Jen explained that Jack had left her and she decided it was time to stop defending Jack's actions to others. Peter and Jen had coffee and continued with Jen's shopping.
Kristen and Tony had breakfast together and Tony offered to help with the search for Belle. Kristen explained that she felt it best that she worked alone because the people knew her and trusted her (because of her social work with the Horton Centre) but didn't trust strangers. Kristen explained she would look for Karen and get further information from her. Peter told them that Stefano was still upset about the postponed wedding and Kristen convinced Tony to talk to Stefano.
Marlena and Roman were disappointed to hear that John had no further news about Belle. He told them of his idea of following up on single mothers who had given birth in the last few months. Roman suggested that he check out the local adoption agencies to see if there were any leads there. John told Marlena that Kristen had postponed her wedding because of Belle. She asked John whether he thought that was just an excuse but he wasn't sure. He said he was going to fight for her. Marlena and Roman thanked Kristen for her help and Marlena suggested tracking down Karen through the hospital.
Sami returned to the lawyer and told him there was a delay in obtaining the birth certificate. He was upset but continued to make preliminary arrangements. He introduced Sami to a couple, the Robertsons, who questioned Sami about her motives for giving up her child. The couple got into an argument over the name they would give the baby and Sami angrily told the Robertsons and the lawyer that she was giving her baby to a family that didn't fight. The lawyer tried to calm her down but she insisted on finding a good family for her baby. Later Sami saw John giving Marlena a supportive hug at Salem Place which angered her further.
While Tom was meeting with his doctor and the specialists Mickey suggested to Alice they talk about the possibility of Tom not making it. Alice refused to listen and told Mickey that God would not take him from them. Tom and his doctor told Alice, Mickey and Jennifer that the medication Tom was taking was not effective enough and surgery was the only viable option. Unfortunately neither of the specialists were willing to perform the surgery. Alice asked who would be able to perform the surgery. The doctor said there was only a specialist in France but he would only perform the surgery in his hospital with his team. Tom refused to leave the country for Christmas. Mickey suggested the whole family join him in France but Tom was adamant he would not go.
Tony and Kristen went Christmas shopping at Salem Place while waiting for Karen's hospital appointment. Kristen told Tony that she grew up with material things and wanted nothing for Christmas. She told him that Tony's ring was the only material possession she treasured. Later, when overhearing Tom and his doctor talk to the Hortons, she confided in Tony that the only thing she would want for Christmas was for Tom Horton to be well. Karen arrived for her appointment and Kristen told her she needed to talk to her. Pat Hamilton told Roman that she was concerned with Bo's handling of the Curtis Brown case. She told Roman that Bo should be putting pressure on Billie to confess. Pat wanted Billie followed 24 hours a day. After she left, Roman and Bo got into an argument over the case. Later Roman saw a copy of the "Intruder" with an intimate photo of Bo and Billie. This caused another fight between the brothers at the pub.
Billie and Carrie were shopping at Salem Place and Billie was excited about the Countess Willhimena products. Carrie told Austin she did not know how to break the news that Kate had taken over the company. At the pub, Carrie and Austin told Billie and she was devastated. Later Austin told Carrie that he was determined to get Brandee to tell Carrie the truth so that Carrie and he could have another chance.
Father Kyle told Shawn and Caroline that there were so many needy families this Christmas and not enough money to buy presents for all the children. Shawn suggested that he and Caroline throw a Christmas party. Billie apologised to Bo for causing problems between him and Roman. Bo noticed they were being watched by the "Intruder" photographer. He took Billie and led her through a door in Salem Place. After a few moments they discovered they were locked in this dark room and did not know where they were. Bo then heard Billie scream.
Jennifer visited Mrs. Patterson (the jeweller's wife) and asked her to check her husbands records to see if she could find the name of the woman who ordered the wedding ring. She then went to see her mother at Pinehaven. Before she arrived Vivian and Ivan were trying to get Laura to speak again. While talking about Kate, Laura called Kate a bitch and a whore. When Jennifer visited Laura, Laura said "Jen"
Sami collected the birth certificate and then took it to Mr. Miller. Karen told Kristen that the lawyer who arranged her baby's adoption was Mr. Miller but he only spoke to married couples. Kristen then asked John to pose as her husband as Tony was out of town. John agreed to help Kristen and together they went to see Mr. Miller. While they were talking to him, Sami arrived at the office, with Belle, and was going to go in.
Marlena told Roman that she did not want to celebrate Christmas with Belle gone but Roman told her that they had to. He arranged for Marlena to be the lucky customer who got to turn on the Christmas tree lights at Salem Place. Billie had backed into a reindeer statue and had thought it was a knife. Bo realised that they were locked in Barron's department store. They could not break out as it would set off an alarm. They decided to have a Christmas celebration. They changed into fancy clothes and danced. Bo found some food and they were about to eat when a guard dog appeared and threatened to attack.
