Monday 18th January 1993
(Monday 25th August 1997 in NZ)
Standing on the pier looking out over the water...
John: When you first came back to Salem after all those years, some mysterious force was directing me here. No, actually it compelled me to come here. I coudln't really explain it - I just felt it. Never felt it before...or since. Until tonight. (he looks at her as she refuses to meet his eyes) That force isn't a mystery to me anymore, Doc. We both know what it is. (she finally looks up at him, hoping he won't say what she knows is the truth) That's nothing you can run from because it's just going to follow you - you just have to face it head on...be honest with yourself, and tell the truth......And the truth is, I still love you.
Her eyes filled with agony and the hints of tears, she looks as through her breath has been knocked out of her. As she turns once again to look at him, his eyes - overpouring with love - meet hers - slightly stunned from the revelation she knew was true all along...
Next scene:
Marlena turns away from him, fighting back emotion, as his love-filled gaze never leaves her.
Marlena: I don't know what to say.
John: You know what to say, Doc. It's not going to go away. Like you, I've tried to forget, but I can't. The interview tonight just brought it all back again, so I have to be honest with myself - and with you. I have to acknowledge....
She cuts him off, needing him to stop.
Marlena: No, don't say that again. Don't say it again.
He doesn't stop - he has to go on...for both of their sakes.
John: I know this is difficult for you. It's difficult for me, too. We can't ignore it any longer. Other people notice how we look at each other. What we say to each other. What we don't say.
Marlena: Maybe you're imagining that.
John: I'm not imagining anything. Rebecca has even picked up on my feelings for you and she's simply a casual friend. Now what are people going to think who *really* understand us?
Marlena: You mean Roman?
John: If he saw that interview tonight.
Marlena: (quickly) He didn't see it. He's not going to see it.
John: It doesn't matter. If he hasn't picked up on it by now, he soon will.
Marlena: I can't talk about this now, I have to go home.
She tries to leave, but he stops her, grabbing her arms with both hands.
John: You said you wanted a second chance at that life, right?...
Marlena: Let me go.
John: ...Then be honest with yourself. It's gonna be painful, but you can run from this anymore, Doc.
Marlena: Alright. Fine. We'll talk about it. ....I understand the feelings your talking about. The ones that are so painful. The ones that make you feel so guilty. I'm having them (trying not to cry). I understand that guilt. I understand that panic and that pain (losing the battle) I never stopped.......caring...about you. You were never.....out of my....thoughts. You were....never....out of my.....h....heart. (tears streaking down her cheeks as she stares at his chest, then tentatively meets his eyes). I...love you. Oh...god. Oh...god....
Both are overwhelmed as her words sink in. The final admission has hit both far deeper than they imagined it could....
Next scene:
Marlena has turned away from John, looking out over the water, trying desperately to come to terms with what she's just admitted...
Marlena: You know I thought that, if I ever said that, I'd feel this enormous relief.
John: And...?
Marlena: And I don't. I just feel...confused and a little...frightened.
John: We'll get past that.
Marlena: (turning to him) How?
John: With time. Can't deal with a situation like this in five minutes. (looking out over the water) Mmm...look at that - fisherman's coming home late.
Marlena: Oh. His lights on the water make it...very magical looking.
John: Mmm. You take your tree down yet?
Marlena: Weeks ago.
John: (a small smile on his lips) Mine's still up. Started taking the ornaments off, Brady threw a fit. How do you reason with a kid that age anyways? ....He just doesn't want the magic of Christmas to end, I guess.
John turns back to face her and takes her wrist in his hand.
John: Still wearing the charm bracelet I gave you.
Marlena: Yes, I am. I love it. It's my....favorite piece of jewelry.
He takes off his watch and holds it up.
John: You know, I must have looked at this watch for over a hundred hours.......I was so glad I was there when you needed me.
Marlena: You saved my life, you know.
John: Well, in a way, you saved mine, too....
They exchange long gazes....
John: ....Y'know when Isabella died, I was just going through the motions. But she knew that's what I was gonna do. But she also knew....that something rare - and indestructable existed between us. That's why she wanted you to look after me.......Doc, losing her taught me how fragile life is. How something you love so dearly can be taken away so quickly. So if you feel something, you have to say it while you still have the time. See, now I know I was just putting myself off from people.....But being around you just taught me how wrong I really was.
Marlena: (eyes brimmed with tears) You would have learned that lesson. I know how much you miss her.
John: Oh, I do miss her. I do. I'm still mourning her I'm sure. I don't know...maybe it's just...maybe I just need to get back with somebody. Maybe that somebody has to be someone I feel comfortable with that I feel...safe with. Because when we were in that warehouse together I realized....that my life *must* go on. It *will* go on....... Oh God, I tell you, when we were down there and those bulldozers were closing in - oh, man, a million things must have gone through my mind. How we gonna get out of here? We gonna get outta her? There must be someway....And just like that it happened.
Marlena: What happened?
John: I looked at you. And you were smiling - trying to cover the fear. When I glanced down at your hands they were (making a fist) in a tight little clench. (She averts her eyes slightly and tries to restrain the tears once again) You always made a tight little clench when you were afraid of something. (his voice cracking slightly with emotion) Now in..in an instant...that little gesture brought back so many memories that I had to lock away...memories that you and I shared. Isn't it amazing? That something so small can bring back something so powerful?....And it happened. And at that moment, I knew I would rather die than to ever let anything happen to you because I still loved you that much....
Marlena: (she can't deal with hearing those words again) Oh, God!
John: ....I'm sorry - look, I don't mind to get emotional here, but sometimes it's easier to explain these emotions than control them.
Marlena: (crying again) We *can't* keep talking about this. We can't keep.....reliving these memories. Or we're going to be in...very bad trouble. We'll be...out of control.
John: Do you know how many times...I've thought about that night you came back here on that pier to me?
Marlena: That was ages ago.
John: It was just like tonight. Maybe a little more mist in the air. But the river smelled the same. I didn't have any idea what I was looking for that night. And I found you. I can still reemember the moment I turned around and I saw you standing there.....it was like I was looking at a vision. I couldn't believe you were real. (he reaches out to touch her cheek - reminiscent of the way he did that fateful night) In fact, I had to touch you...just to make sure you were real. And in that second, time *stopped*. With everything else that was going on in my life at that moment, the world just...went away. And once again, it was just you...and me.....Together once again.....Oh, Marlena.
He nuzzles against her face as the heat flashes between them - falling so easily into old ways and old emotions.
Next scene:
Breaking the embrace, pushing away from John as he captures her hands with his own against his chest.
Marlena: We can't do that. We *can't* do that. I am married to Roman. I love Roman. I would never, ever hurt him. Or my marriage.
John: I understand that. That's one of the reasons it was so difficult to reach my decision - because of Roman...the children...the family that's like my own family -- I'd never do anything to hurt them. But where does it leave us?
Marlena: No where. We can't let the past ruin the future. I am married to Roman....We have a family. And you ha.........Someday, when you're ready, you'll meet somebody and you'll fall in love and she will love you......I'm sorry....I don't get to be her....
The words she's just spoken are killing her. She *wants* to be her. But she's dedicated to Roman. She *has* to move on...for her family's sake.
John: Well put. But that was coming from a doctor, not a woman.
Marlena: No, that was coming from Roman's *wife*. Now what happened here tonight....is not going to happen again. We're not coming back to this place...(he doesn't respond immediately - just stands stoically)...John?
John: (finally) If that's the way you want it.
Marlena: (it's not, but...) That's the way that it is.
John: Well, then I guess we'll just have to walk away.
Marlena: Yes.
John: We'll have to say goodbye first, though, won't we?
Marlena: (No!) No...
John grabs her by the wrists and holds up her hands - both in that familiar, tell- tale tight clench...She knows he knows what that means, but she doesn't want to admit it...So she fudges...
Marlena: I'm cold. I'm cold....
John: You're not cold, Doc. You're afraid. What are you afraid of?
Marlena: Nothing. I'm not afraid of anything.
Tears steaming down her cheeks she pulls away from him. She *has* to get out of there.
Marlena: Goodbye.
Turning to leave, she pulls her coat tighter around her and rushes off, leaving John in the aftermath of what has just transpired....
We now return you to your typical summary....
Marlena is back at the Pub when the waitress notices the bracelet. She asks Marlena if it's a gift from a special guy. Marlena says it is. The waitress comments that it's nice to know Marlena still thinks Roman's so special after being married to him for so many years and leaves. Marlena unclasps the charm bracelet and slips it into her purse. "I know where I belong..."
John's still at the pier when Rebecca walks up. She asks if he comes here often, then admits it was a pointed question - she knew from the interview this is where he found Marlena. She tries to delve into his and Marlena's relationship once more and John says he'd appreciate it if she just dropped it. There's not anything going on between him and Marlena - not anymore.
Back at the house, Roman is watching the interview when Marlena comes home. She notices what's playing on the TV and he says he's mad as hell....at Jennifer and Phillip. She's relieved that's all he's mad at and says she's glad it happened - she and John were trying to deny what was going on and Jenn wouldn't let them do that. She made them get it out in the open where they could deal with it and get on with more important things... "...like this." With that, she pulls him into one heck of a deep kiss...
Marlena tells Roman she and John will always be frends, but she's in love with Roman Brady - *this* Roman Brady. He's glad she said that, he's had his doubts - afterall, the three of them have one complicated history. She tells him she's all his and he tells her to "C'mere." After a slow kiss, he lifts her into his arms and carries her upstairs...
Back on the pier, John and Rebecca have a little banter about something. He stays behind for a second, still holding his watch. As he tries to put the night behind him, he slips the watch into his pocket...
Tuesday 19th January 1993
(Tuesday 26th August 1997 in NZ)
So little happened today it's barely worth writing a summary.
Carly wanted to take Nikki to the boat but Lawrence wouldn't allow it so instead Bo, Carly and Shawn-D turned up on Lawrence's doorstep and Bo made several remarks about Lisanne. Later he and Taylor went to the coroner's office to ask the coroner to relook at the file. He refused but after they had left he picked up the file and something *happened* to jump out at him ..funny how that happens .
Billie (who discovered the money was missing in a previous episode told Phillip who wasn't at all happy as it will mean that Simon Fairchild will be coming to town. She told Austin (who got out of hospital) that she wanted to leave Salem, but not why.
There was some of the usual Jack and Jenn stuff but nothing worth detailing
Wednesday 20th January 1993
(Wednesday 27th August 1997 in NZ)
Kim talks to Phillip about the interview .and about Jenn's sacking. Phillip tells her that the execs feel that Jenn didn't go far enough in her questioning of John and Marlena but Kim thinks she went quite far enough. Later, Kim and Mar are having a session in Mar's office....Kim can't bring Claire and Lacey back out, but can't. Marlena says she's trying too hard. She's in control whether she believes it or not. Whoops! Session's over. Kim says, yeah, her sessions over, but what about Marlena's? She knows something's bothering her. Marlena covers and says she misses the twins. Kim knows something else is eating at her and Mar confessed it's Roman. The whole Carrie Roman deal is getting too tense. Roman's going to talk to Carrie again today and he won't let her off easy this time. Kim knows that's not all there is. Something in her gut tells her there's more. Marlena and Roman? Mar says things are fine between her and Roman. Really.
Kim still doesn't buy it. She's not alone in her confusion. The family hasn't stopped loving John. They couldn't cut off their feelings just like that. And Marlena couldn't do that either. But the family was able to deal with their feelings, but Marlena, John, and Roman couldn't do that...partly because of Isabella, but they had to act like nothing happened. And she thinks they're still doing that. Mar says not anymore and admits she bumped into John on the pier. "It was very intense." Kim asks if she wants to talk about this and Marlena hesitantly nods. They talked about how they feel. They both did. And the fact is that she's Roman's wife and that's where she belongs. And John would never do anything to hurt Roman. Kim asks if she's staying with Roman just because she doesn't want to hurt him and Mar says that's never been an issue. But.....she still loves John. Kim says John will find happiness again, but things won't be easy on any of them until he does.
Meanwhile....Julie got a letter from Doug. He seemed fine, but was quite brief and the tone was a little off - it was a dull letter. No one else (Alice, Tom, Mickey, Maggie) had heard from him - not even a little note in the Christmas cards. Julie says he hasn't even returned her calls. Maggie catches Julie aside and asks if she thinks Doug's found someone else. Julie says they're divorced. Maggie says she still loves him. Julie says again, they're divorced and it's not that simple anymore.
Marlena returns home calling for Roman, but he's not home (he's at Carrie's, from what I can tell). She goes to the mantle and picks up a picture of her and Roman then moves to the wicker chest and removes a hatbox. She lifts out hers and John's wedding picture, then like she has in her mind so many times before, flips back and forth between the two, looking at pics of her with the two men she loves. She lays the photo of her and John back in the hatbox, takes the charm bracelet out of her purse, and slides it in on top of the photo, then replaces the hatbox.
Roman goes to see Carrie to see if he can get her to talk to him but she won't. She asks him to trust her but he says he can't trust Austin and she is in over her head. She says that he doesn't trust her either. He tells her he just loves her and wants to protect her.
Jenn goes to talk to Phillip to try and convince him to get her job back. He tells her he can't, they have already found someone else to fill her place.
Roman comes home and Marlena darts out of the kitchen and plants a big one right on him. ;o) They talk about Carrie and Austin. Roman thinks they're hiding something from him and he's not too crazy about Austin. He admits he's trying to make up for the time he lost while he was away and now feels like he's losing her since she's growing up. He's afraid Austin's into some shady dealings and Carrie's going to get hurt. Marlena says all they can do is hope their children, when they fall, don't fall too hard. And tries to get him to get his mind onto something else. He suggests a movie and popcorn, she says she has a better idea and will be right back.
She comes back downstairs with a suitcase and goes to the phone to call Hilary (sec'y). Marlena requests her to clear her schedule for a couple of days. Roman asks why and Mar says Abe managed to clear his schedule as well. Besides, Roman and Carrie could use some time apart...Abe and the entire police force can look after her. So, is he going with her? She hands him his ski coat and says maybe they can bring back some old memories....and maybe create some new memories, then kisses him good. He quickly agrees to go with her and off they go.
Thursday 21st January 1993
(Thursday 28th August 1997 in NZ)
Shady figure sneaking around outside of Brady Pub, John and Kim inside. Kim tries to get John to talk about Marlena (Kim's kinda the pre-possession, tad more subtle Laura of '93...and I LIKE it!). She knows he still loves Marlena.
Marlena and Roman come in from skiing (Mar in all her lilac ski gear, earwarmer, and goggles - how CUTE!). Roman's about to take off her boots when a knock at the door interrupts.
Shady figure still sneaking around outside of Brady Pub.
John and Kim talking inside - he's really not comfy talking about Marlena to anyone, even her. John says Marlena would have to be free and clear for him to even THINK about making her a part of his life. But she's Roman's *wife*.
And he doesn't want to hurt Roman. Roman deserves some happiness after all he's been through. Kim says that's not the end of the subject - John says he thinks it is....he and Marlena have talked about it. They're friends, that's all. But what he's got to do is 'Get out there and start chasin' them women!....Sounds sick doesn't it?'
Shady figure still sneaking around outside of Brady Pub.
John offers Kim a ride home....or at least to walk her out, they leave.
Shady figure that's been sneaking around outside of Brady Pub sneaks in and uses the phone....gets Dr. Evans' answering machine and hangs up.
This scene is just too dang adorable. You just have to PICTURE IT....
Roman's pouring glasses of French 75 for them from a pitcher with a little scoopy-like stir thingymabobber - a concoction the ski patrol uses to keep people warm - loosen up muscles. He give Marlena a glass, she likes it, and he starts frittering with a deck of cards. She asks if they're going to play a game. Roman says he thought they might play a little poker. Mar says she doesn't think she brought enough cash to play poker with him - Roman says (with a brilliantly devilish grin) not to worry - she's wearing her bankroll. She almost does a spit-take with the Fr 75 as she realizes what's going through his mind....they're gonna play strip poker. He says yup - Fr. 75 hasn't gotten to her, has it? He rehashes the rules - she wins a hand, he takes off a piece of clothing, he wins a hand, she takes off a piece of clothing. He'll make it even easier - they'll just play straight 5 card stud - 1 card down, 4 cards up. She says (for about the 4th time ;o> ) "I got it." Roman proceeds to deal and it's lookin' mighty good for Mar. They're tied as they get to the face-down card....Roman's hand with a full house! He starts to reach for the zipper on her sweatshirt and she holds up her foot "Take off my boot," she laughs. He does and they go for the next hand. He reminds her of the drink and as she reaches back, he slips two aces out of his sleeve and plants them in the deck (Ro-man's cheatin'!). He shuffles and deals again....dissolve to next bit - Marlena's lost another hand and he's unzippin' the sweatshirt. He lifts it over her head as she giggles.....dissolve to - Roman saying her lucks returned, she finally won one hand. She tells him to 'start undressing' and reaches for his sweater. Uh, uh, he says. Turnabout's fair play and he hold up his boot.....dissolve to - him helping her find the buttons to her ski pants which she removes before falling onto the bed next to him in yet another fit of giggles (LOVE those giggles and laughs)....dissolve to - yet another hand....Marlena, now wrapped in a big puffy blue towel keels over laughing as she's *finally* won another hand. He tells her she should be excited - it's only the second hand she's won. She tells him to take off something good - something *big*. He reaches for his belt, then the bottom of his sweater before finally reaching for the collar of his turtleneck - which is just a dickey! There goes his piece of clothing. Marlena stops laughing long enough to ask, "That's all I get?"....dissolve to - Mar scraping the bottom of the pitcher with the stir and licking the stir - still wrapped in the towel. She's decided something fishy's going on and take the cards away from Roman - starts dealing. He's already fixed the deck, apparently, cuz - AHA! - she's lost again. Down to the towel. She dodges him as he reaches for the towel and jumps up, cards in hand. She tells him if he wants the towel, he'll have to come get it, tosses the cards in the air, and makes a mad dash for the bathroom. He gives chase, saying that's cheating - he was playing fair!
Here's the transcipt of the poker game:
M: What did you say they called this again?
R: (pouring from a pitcher - complete with scoopy-like stir thing) into champagne glasses) They call this "French 75. You see, it's a...i..i..it's a concoction that the ski patrol uses, for medicinal purposes. For people when they're cold up on the slopes kind of...loosens up the sore muscles.
M: Mmm...Very Good - I like that.
Roman picks up deck of cards and start flittering them.
M: We gonna play a game?
R: Yeah, I thought we might play a little poker. Winner take all?
M: I don't think I brought enough cash to play poker with you.
R: Oh...<smiling devilishly>...you don't have to worry about that. You're....wearing your bankroll.
She almost spits the Fr. 75 out giggling.
M: I got it.
R: You up for it? Huh? Yeah?
M: We're gonna play strip poker.
R: Oh, strip poker. That's very good. (tapping his head with his finger) Frence 75s haven't gotten to you, have they? Yeah, we're going to play a little strip poker. You know how to play it, right?
M: (finally stopped giggling - simply) Yes.
R: You win a hand, I take off a piece of clothing. I win a hand you take off a...piece of clothing....
M: I got it.
R: ...and so forth and so on. Tell you what, even make this easier, more simple, we'll just play straight 5 card stud. Alright? One card down, 4 cards up.
M: I *got it*. (then giggles - eyes just a-dancin')
R: Okay! I'll deal, you ready?
Next scene (well, not the NEXT next scene - I think that was Carrie or somebody, but I'm watching an edited tape and this is the next scene on the tape), we see two silhouettes in the shower, her leg up at his hip as he caresses it - cut to in the shower, Marlena and Roman at it in a *major* way.
They go to dinner and are talking about the shower ;o> They're reveling in their vacation. Roman sees someone and comments he looks like John. "Wouldn't that be a hoot if he were here, too?" "Yeah, that'd be a hoot." Oh *wouldn't* that be a hoot? Roman says word around the station is that IckyBella's Frizzy Haired successor has her eyes on John. Marlena kinda dances around the subject then goes back to "speaking of water stunts" does he have anything else up his sleeve? Roman asks "Here?" to which she replies, "No, I think they'd kick us out." So he suggests they go back to the room with promise of a demonstration of a little act he does with a bar of soap.
John and Rebecca are having dinner and they talk about relationships.
I really can't stomach this scene. Says he's ready to move on with life, but not ready to marry or even a serious relationship.....YEESH! She gives me the willies! FF!
Carly discovers a mark on Nikki's shirt and Lawrence asks him about it. He tells them that he went down to the wine cellar. He was not supposed to go down there but he took the key from Ivan's desk. He says he leaned down to pick up something shiny and must have gotten dirty then. Lawrence asks what it was and Nikki gives him a good luck charm that Lisanne used to wear on her watch. They tell him that it was a cognac stain but he asks if they can get it out. They say no, wine is really hard to get out, but they will get him a new shirt. Later when Kim comes over Nikki gets upset and runs out of the room yadda yadda yadda .
At the coroners office, the coroner shows Bo the release form for Lisanne's body and says it was forged. Bo asks him to get the list of people who had had access to the office. When he gets it he discovers that Lawrence had access that day.
Marlena and Roman are back in the room (fully dressed, I might add), in front of the fire. Mar's reading Elizabeth Barrett Browning and reads a poem: "What I do and what I dream include thee/As the wine must taste of it's own grapes/And when I sue God for myself/He hears that name of thine/And sees with in mine eyes the tears of two." He tells her no more tears cuz that's how close he feels to her and nothing will ever come between them again.
Back to John and IT talking about their FEELINGS and her trying to act like she really cares. FF. EW! MORE John and IT! FF! QUICK!
Mar and Roman are curled up in bed. She tells him just how much she loves him and how her heart pounds for him. She thinks it will always be like that (yeah, now her heart pounds in terror and *disgust* when she looks at what they've done to this sexy stud who's layin' in bed with her back here in '93!). Roman says she's still the only one for him. Marlena asks why he thinks it took so long for them to find themselves again. He says things were just foggy for a while, but now they're clear and very very beautiful. He goes in for the kiss and the scrump.
Shady Figure's back and sneaking around outside of Roman and Marlena's house. Shady Figure looks under doormat for key before taking off big derby hat, pulling out a hair pin, and picking the lock to Roman and Marlena's house. She goes inside and looks around.
Back at the inn, Marlena's asleep with her head on Roman's chest. He hates to break the mood, but isn't it about time they got dressed and went to dinner? (HUH? They went to dinner a LONG time ago! Hello? Oh, well. It's Days. I refuse to try to figure it out....for the moment). She says okay, just let her sleep one more minute. (Oh PLEASE let her sleep! *Hot* dream a-comin'!)
She fades off and dreams of making love to Roman. He pulls back and, amazingly, turns into JOHN! Sparks fly left and right, right and left, up and down, down and up, all over the place! John moves in to kiss her as her body just dances. In his tender, teasing, and oh-so-sexy way.....he bonks her. (GREAT dream!)
In reality, John's left the restaurant and is at the pier talking to the Isabella's star. He knows she'd approve of him and Marlena if only Roman wasn't in the picture. The family's been so good to him and his son.....so tell him - how does he forget about Marlena and move on?
Friday 22 January 1993
(Friday 29 August 1997 in NZ)
There was Carly and Bo and Lawrence and Nikki and Ivan and Lisanne's now dead cat (Ivan 'accidentally' poisoned him - you can tell Larry is ready to jump for joy, but he manages to control himself in front of a terribly upset Nikki). Nikki runs upstairs, followed by Kim who manages to calm him before rejoining....that was all I caught in FF.
Carrie and Austin were on - Austin walks down to the corner to buy Carrie a rose. She sniffs it, puts it in a glass, and somehow or another, they end up in the bathroom. Carrie bathes him, falls into the tub, he laughs, we FF.
John's still walking around on the pier talking to IzzyB's star when Abe finds him there. Abe wants to know if John needs to talk to somebody, about Marlena. John's not exactly thrilled with the prospect of discussing his feelings for Marlena. Abe says everyone knows there's still a connection between the two - even Roman. John questions the Roman bit and Abe says that after the pit rescue, Roman told him he thought J&Ms bond had grown. Abe is interrupted by his cell phone ringing - the alarm at Roman and Marlena's house has been tripped, he's heading right over. John joins him and they take off to the house where the cops who are already there tell them nothing is missing, just some of Mar's files are scattered around a bit. Meanwhile, John goes upstairs to check things out up there, finds Marlena's perfume, picks it up, takes a whiff, and remembers the first time they made love. (all this time, Sami's hiding in her bedroom closet or somewhere similarly claustrophobic) I shall return to this storyline in a moment AFTER I talk about....
Marlena's still dreaming of John (NOTE: She and Roman supposedly got up, got dressed, went to dinner, came back, went to sleep, and she's *dreaming* during the time John was pacing on the pier, but, hey, who's being picky?). She has one of those super-steamy, chemistry-filled, fantasies of him making love to her, kissing up her arm, teasing her lips with the possibility of a kiss, then finally taking her down. She wakes up with a start, which wakes Roman. He asks if she had another nightmare about the pit and she honestly answers no. Marlena's really shaken about the dream and decides to do what Mar does best when she's in denial....as Rachie so eloquently put it, she wants to get something off her mind, she 'bonks like a bunny' (can't resist quoting my cool hero hare...Eh...What's up, Doc?) But Roman stops her saying he can tell how shaken she is. He tries to get her to talk about it, saying it always helps to talk about it. She says not always. She just wants to forget about it. He finally gives in and she starts to relax a bit. Roman says he has an idea. She asks if she'll like and he says he hopes so. He says he wants another baby - how would she feel about being a mommy again? While she reels from the shock of what he just said, he talks about how they missed so much of the twins growing up (no joke! They were *8* when they left a couple of months ago - now Sami's back and she's *15*. That's like....a year per week! Anyway....). This time he wants to do it all the way through - together. She says the twins would be mortified at the thought of their parents having sex. Roman agrees - when he was their age, he would have been disgusted at the thought, but kids nowadays were 'with it' and would be cool about it. Mar doesn't agree, but....
Next scene, they're happily asleep when the phone rings. It's Abe from the house telling them the house was broken into, but nothing was stolen that he could tell. A few of Marlena's files were just thrown around. He tells Roman they can't really tell if anything is missing until he and Marlena come home and look for themselves. Roman thanks him, says he owes Abe one. Abe says he owes him a lot more than that, but who's counting? Roman tells Marlena about it all and she's instantly worried that it was some sleazeball tabloid reporter trying to get a scoop on Kimberly's story since the files were all that were bothered. He knows Mar will worry about it all night if they stay there, so he announces the vacation is over and they rush home.
In the time John's upstairs, Roman and Marlena are awakened, decide to go home, pack, check out, and DRIVE HOME from the ski lodge. Marlena immediately heads for the files and is relieved to find that Kim's is still in tact. As they try to figure out what happened, a crash is heard from outside. Cops scatter and Roman goes out, gun drawn, to find the perpetrator. "Daddy, don't!" "Sami??" (She tried to escape out her bedroom window and apparently fell). He doesn't shoot, just stands there still aiming and the sticks spin.
