Marlena gets a subpoena to appear at Roger's trial - for the defense. She tells Roman that she thinks that Roger should be punished for what he's done and she won't say any different. Roger is at the hospital and peeking in at Kim when Stella finds him. He tells her that he was just seeing if she was okay. She sends him off and then goes in to see Kim. She tells her that she's sorry about what happened but basically puts the blame on Marlena - saying that Roger can't handle the therapy and it's never going to help him. She asks Kim to tell Marlena that she should stop seeing Roger - Stella can get him to stop drinking on her own.
Marlena and Roman go to see Kim. Phillip comes in and she introduces him - saying he's her fiancee. Kim tells Marlena what Stella said. Later at their session - Marlena tells them that Kim is being discharged today. She mentions Roger's drinking problem and he storms out. She confronts Stella about her visit to Kim but Stella tells her to keep out of their business.
At Alice's, Stella tells Roger that she knows what Marlena is doing. She's pushing him to leave Stella and when he does, she'll step in and rescue him. Roger thinks she's lost it and his suspicions are confirmed when she starts accusing him of having an affair with Marlena. A little while later Abe, Marlena and Roman get the information that Roger has changed his plea to guilty. And thus begins the saga of the pit.....
Meanwhile - Marcus agrees to let Kim out of the hospital only if she stays in Salem for a week under observation. She agrees but Phillip has to go back to LA so she goes to stay at Shawn and Caroline's.
Other tidbits - Molly and Tanner go on a date, Austin gets his friend Tim to apply for the manager's job at Johnny Angel's so that they can run their gambling operation from there and Carrie invites Austin over to get to his heart through his stomach (not telling him of course that the meal came from Wings....)
Carly and Bo receive their invites to Vic's party for Nikki. Carly can't believe that she didn't know about the child. She tracks down Viv who explains that Nikki was the child of a servant and that she just didn't find the right time to tell Carly about it after she lost her own child. Victor comes across Bo and Shawn-D and asks Shawn-D to come to the party. Bo says that none of them are coming - Shawn-D is going to camp tomorrow and has to have an early night. However - the camp director calls Bo - there is an epidemic of chicken-pox and the camp is cancelled. Carly offers to do anything to make it up to him and he asks them to take him to the party...
Meanwhile, Carrie asks Julie to give Austin a job playing the piano so she offers him casual work - including the Alamain party tonight. Carrie decides to crash the party so that she can hear Austin play.
Also today - Molly decides to move out of Julie's penthouse and into the college dorm...for some independence. Brian decides after his first day of training dogs that he doesn't want to do that after all.
The party is underway when Bo and Carly finally decide to give in to Shawn-D and go to the party. As they are leaving, Carly gets a call from the hospital and she has to go in. Bo and Shawn-D go to the party anyway and there is a moment of panic for Vivian when Shawn-D claims that he met Nikki in the park a few weeks ago. Nikki denies it and it passes without comment. Then Carly arrives from the hospital and tells Vivian she came for her, because she means so much to her. Vivian tells her she thinks she's going to cry. Then the moment of truth. Carly meets Nikki.....
Marlena and Roman are settling down on the couch after putting the twins to bed. Roman casually suggests that they have another child. Marlena tells him to "hush his mouth". All those bottles and diapers... They are getting *real* comfy on the couch when Marlena suggests a bath. She goes upstairs to run it and Roman is about to follow her up when The doorbell goes. It's Stella and she wants Roman to try to get Roger's sentence reduced. She says everything is being taken away from her and it wouldn't have happened if Marlena hadn't been counseling Roger. Roman tells her not to blame Marlena but she tells him that she thinks Marlena should have been taken off the case because she's become too personally involved. At that stage, Marlena comes downstairs and Stella leaves. Roman tells her what Stella said.
Meanwhile, Roger pays Jesse a visit to apologize. Jesse gets really upset and tries to hit Roger. Carrie pulls him away and Roger leaves looking shocked. (Carrie and Jesse then go and gatecrash the party but Carrie runs out when Lawrence tells her how nice she's looking.) Roman gets a call from Stella who had just been phoned by Roger telling her what happened with Jesse and that he's not coming home. Roman finds Jesse and Carrie and asks Jesse if he knows where Roger would be. He says no and he and Carrie go to stay with Marlena (in case Roger goes back there.) Marlena manages to get Jesse to think of a place where Roger might be. He tells her an old warehouse on 5th and Main. She grabs her coat and leaves, telling Jesse to go home and stay with his Mom and Carrie to stay with the twins. When she gets to the warehouse she finds Roger, in tears.........
