Roman chews Bo out for putting himself in danger at the hospital. Bo says he knows he shouldn't have done it but it was Marcus in danger and he made a judgment call. He asks them not to decide his fate - to leave it to the other cadets in the peer review. They agree and the review comes out as a 50/50 split. This means that Abe is left to decide whether Bo becomes a cop or not. Abe asks Roman whether or not he would have done the same thing at the hospital. Roman says he would have but he just doesn't want to end up having to put his baby brother in a body bag. Abe tells he knows better than anyone what he means and he leaves the end decision up to Roman...
In between all this, Roman goes to see Carrie. Stella turns up with a meatloaf she had arranged with Jesse to come round and they ask Roman to stay. It turns out that Stella and Roman are both Cubs fans and spend a lot of the evening discussing it. After they both leave, there is a knock at the door. Earlier on Carrie had told Austin to come round because she had a surprise for him. The knock is him and she gives him the surprise - an old album of his father's - Curtis Reed. She asks Austin what he was like but Austin tells her he can't really remember. Then he thanks her and leaves...to go straight into the arms of a blonde from Boston.
Carrie and Jesse work out their finances and realize that they can't afford to pay all their bills. They decide to get some extra work at Ballistics, but when ask Mandi, she tells them that she has too many staff as it is and that she's going to have to *cut* their hours. Carrie goes to Johnny Angels to wallow in her misery. She gets up to leave and the heel breaks off her shoe. When she bends down to retrieve it, she bangs her head on the table and she starts to cry. Austin comes and asks her what's wrong. She tells him that she can't afford to have her shoe fixed and she has no money. He takes her off to fix it and says he'll shout her lunch and they can talk about it. Meanwhile, Jesse meets a friend who tells him about the betting at Johnny Angels. He goes in and lays a bet with Austin's piece of fluff.
Roman talks to Marlena and she tells him that he should let Bo become a cop. Then she tells him that things are going well, and she is learning a lot. but Roger gas asked to see her and she is going over to the clinic today. She goes over there and Roger tells her he can't cope with the detox. He packs his bag to leave and Marlena tells him that he can't that this is the last chance he has to get his life back. Eventually he decides to stay but asks her to go, telling her he doesn't want her to see him like this. She squeezes his hand, smiles at him and then leaves. Meanwhile, Stella goes to Roman and asks for his help as she's lost her job. She wants him to get Roger home but Roman says he can't do that. He does tell her that their is a vacancy in the secretarial pool at the police station and gets her to put her name down. (This is after she calls the clinic and finds Marlena has been there...but she doesn't tell Roman that.)
John invites Victor over and tells him that he has asked Isabella to join the Alamain board. They are upstairs feeding Brady and Isabella is downstairs and hears them on the monitor. John tells Victor that Isabella has just told him that all she wants to do is be a good wife and mother and he tells him that he loves her so much he isn't going to put pressure on her to work and so decides to withdraw his offer. When they go downstairs, Isabella tells them she has made a decision, she is going to accept the job. John tells her that he won't let her but she tells him she wants to do it - she can spend more time with him. However, the twinges she is experiencing seem to be getting worse....
Ginger gets Molly and Brian to come to Alice's. She tells them that she's been offered a job with a newspaper syndicate but it means she'll have to move to Chicago. Looking at both their faces, she wonders what she was thinking of and tells them she's going to turn down the offer. Molly asks to talk to her alone and tells her that she has to go. Even though they are starting to get along really well, they can't sacrifice her future. Then she calls Ginger "Mom'. Later on Brian comes back and tells her that she has to go to Chicago - and when she does, he will go with her....
Carrie comes home after having dinner with Roman and brings a steak sandwich home for Jesse. He shows her the fridge full of food but before she can ask him where the money came from, Stella arrives. Stella tells them both what Roman has done for her. After she leaves, Jesse tells Carrie that he won the money through the betting at Johnny Angels. Carrie is surprised - saying that she's never seen any sign of it there but Jesse says it's well hidden. She can't get the oven to work and he says that he didn't pay the gas bill - he'll have to make another trip down to JA's.
Bo drops Shawn-D off at Roman's and they have a little argument before he goes next door to have supper with Carly and the Hortons. Carly tells Alice that Victor has offered to put up the money for the mobile unit but she doesn't really want to accept him. Then Tom comes home and tells them that an anonymous donor has agreed to finance the project. The call the bank to find out who it is - the bank won't say, except for that it's not Victor. Afterward they go back to Roman's to pick up Shawn-D. Roman tells Bo he'd like to talk to him and Carly and Shawn-D go off. Roman tells Bo that it was a really hard decision for him to make and eventually tells him it's because he doesn't want to see his baby brother get hurt. Then he tells him that he has to be professional and so he's in. Meanwhile, down at the village, Carly runs into Lawrence and Nikki. Nikki and Shawn-D go off to get an ice-cream and come back saying that Nikki is going to stay over on the boat. The adults finally agree.
Carly takes Nikki back to Lawrence's after his night on the boat. She isn't in a particularly good mood as the kids kept her awake with their whispering for half the night. She tells Vivian that Nikki is terribly formal and Vivian tells her that it may be his schooling. Then she has a run-in with Lisanne. Later when she meets up with Bo she tells him that she feels uncomfortable around Nikki and she thinks he feels the same around her. They go off to Wings for a celebration dinner (for Bo's graduation) and run into Victor who surreptitiously pays their bill before he leaves.
John and Isabella head off to the board meeting where Isabella has them all eating out of her hand. The pains she is having seem to be getting worse but she is hiding it quite well. They decide to go out for a celebration dinner at Wings (and see Bo and Carly). They are dancing when John leans Isabella back and she has a big twinge. John apologizes and she asks if they can go home to continue their celebration in private. There are lots of references throughout the program to how happy they are, what luck they have and how they are the perfect couple. Isabella tells John that she wants him to build them a big house with a big nursery and she wants to give him a daughter.
Meanwhile, Lisanne and Vivian have finally found they have a goal in common - to get the perfect Mrs. Black off the board and to bring John down. They call a temporary truce (awww, they're far more fun with their claws out!).
Kimberly arrives at Shane's in the morning and Andrew says that the only thing missing from their day was Kimberly - why can't she stay? The kids disappear and Shane asks her to do just that. She tells him she'll think about it. Later she goes shopping with Caroline. Caroline tries to talk her out of it - telling her it's not a good idea. Kim gets upset and ends up telling her to shut up. She apologizes and says that she just lost it for a moment but after Caroline goes she goes off to the store and buys herself a bright red lipstick. (All the while acting very un-Kim-like). When she goes back to Shane's for dinner, she goes to put on some lipstick and discovers the red one. She says it's not her and can't work out where it came from. Then later when Phillip calls Andrew overhears her talking very sexily to her fiancee.
Lisanne slips into Vivian's room while she is out and finds some photos of her and Carly in Paris in '84. Later Lisanne tells Lawrence that she has to go to Paris to sort out some business problems that she can't do by phone and they say their "good-byes". Afterwards, when Lawrence is leaving the room, Viv happens apon them and Lisanne tells her where she's going.
Roman gives Bo a medal that Shawn gave him when he started the police force. Bo doesn't want to take it but Roman insists. Bo graduates but Carly doesn't show. Later at Bo's celebration party, Vic turns up and tells Bo even though he doesn't want anything to do with him, Victor is still going to honour the father-son bond. Later Bo goes to the hospital and asks Carly why she didn't ring. She tells him that she only had 3 minutes to prep for surgery.
Stella gets the job at the police station and comes to tells Jesse. Carrie asks Austin to a Jazz evening at Wings and then realizes that she doesn't have anything to wear. refusing to ask Roman for the money she asks Jesse to lay a bet for her at Johnny Angels.
Kim doesn't remember that Phillip told her that he was coming to Salem but manages to cover it reasonably well. Shane asks Phillip to stay at the house while he's in Salem, but afterwards he approaches Kim and tells her about Andrew overhearing her sexually suggestive conversation with Phillip the previous evening. She gets upset and says that she's not like that. Later Kim gets her hair done and the hairdresser suggests she dye her hair red. She refuses but afterwards sees a red wig and buys it. Then she goes home and Phillip has set up a lovely table outside. Shane arrives home and hears the music and follows it outside. Unfortunately he rounds the corner to find Kim and Phillip horizontal on the couch...
