Tanner arrives at Julie's penthouse. He asks Molly what she's going to do about the professor. She's not sure and Tanner says he won't let the guy get away with it. He goes down to the university. Meanwhile, Molly takes a call from Tom Horton for Julie regarding Professor Newurth. Tom asks her if she would mind giving a personal evaluation of the professor as he is in line for the hospital administrator's job. Molly tells him that she'll think about it and get back to him. She phones Brian and asks him to meet her. She tells him that she has a friend who is being sexually harassed and wants to know her options. Brian asks her if it's her but Molly says no. Brian advises her to tell her friend to go to the police. She can talk to Dr. Evans if she doesn't feel comfortable talking to a man. Meanwhile, Tanner confronts Gavin who denies the whole thing. Tanner grabs him but is interrupted by Tom Horton. He goes back to Molly and tells her that the matter is in her hands now. She asks him why he's doing this for her, he tells her it's because he cares about her and they kiss.
John and Isabella visit a vastly improved Shawn. John talks to him about fixing up the fish market. Shawn tells him that there are other things he would rather be doing. John says he has the money to make Shawn's dreams come true. He just has to decide what he wants. Later John and Vic go to an Alamain board meeting. The proposal is to move one of the production plants out of Salem and to an Asian company. John persuades them to reject the idea. After the meeting, Lawrence and Lisanne go home for a spot of pillow-talk and Vivian has a drink with Vic, the first glimmers of interest there. When John gets home, he gives Isabella a gift. It's a little gold gondola. Isabella tells him it's lovely. He tells her that's not the real gift - he's going to take her on a honeymoon to Venice...
Molly comes down the stairs in the morning and imagines what Gavin Newurth could do if she went to the police. Tanner rings, then comes around and she tells him that she is not going to press charges. He tries to persuade her to. Later, when she is at the hospital, she sees Gavin with Tom Horton and they are talking about the new job. Molly goes to the Police station and when Tanner gets there, she tells him that she's changed her mind. She mentions Crystal Lake and Tanner finally clicks that it was the Professor that assaulted him mother and cased her to commit suicide. He goes to Gavin's office and attacks him. Meanwhile, Molly tells Roman that she wants to press charges against Professor Newurth for sexual assault.
Carrie and Jesse start their new jobs at Ballistics in the newly opened Salem Place. Their workmates are particularly egotistical young women who don't really think much of Carrie. A band is playing the Mall and they all go out to have a look. The guitarist is a good-looking young man that all the girls swoon over. Later he comes into the store and Carrie serves him. He wants to try on a t-shirt but there are no changing rooms free so he changes in the middle of the store (great bod), totally flustering Carrie. Later, back at the apartment Carrie is standing by the door when the guy walks past and enters the apartment next door. The apartment where all the piano music has been coming from. Welcome to Salem Austin Reed....
Molly starts to tell Roman what happened. He sees that she's finding it hard to go on and he suggests that she tell Marlena. He calls Marlena in and Molly tells her everything that happened. Marlena stresses that it's not her fault and that it happens to a lot of young women. She tells Molly that it's a very difficult decision to make, but she has an even bigger one ahead. Gavin may plead guilty to a lesser charge and get off scot free, so Molly's other option is to take it to the press. While all this is happening, Tanner attacks Gavin at the University. Brian is sent down there after reports of a commotion. When he gets there, Tanner tells him that Gavin is the reason that their mother is dead. Brian refuses to arrest Tanner and the security guard and secretary take the Professor to the hospital. When Brian gets back to the station he tells Roman what happened. Roman tells Brian that he's putting him in a difficult position so Brian leaves his badge and gun behind. Tanner goes and tells Vern the latest developments, feeling guilty that he blamed his father when he never saw it with Molly himself. Molly meanwhile is talking to Julie who also feels guilty for not realizing. Molly decides that she will go public and Julie gets a reporter so they can put it in the morning edition...
Carrie runs into Austin at the recycling bin in the hall and they introduce themselves and she discovers that he is the piano player next door.. Later she trumps up a broken curtain rail as an excuse for him to come over. They talk about Jazz and he lends her some CD¹s. At which stage Jesse comes home. Austin gives them a lift down to the Mall where they meet up with the Ballistics girls. They are all disappointed however (especially Carrie) when Austin tells them he's meeting someone and goes off with a blonde bimbo.....
Molly's story is in the morning edition of the spectator. Professor Newurth and his wife call a press release (in the park!) to refute the allegations. Tanner happens across them and bursts in telling them that he's lying and publicly threatening him. He calls Molly later and she meets him at the park. He tells her he's made a mess of things and he's going to turn himself in. The Professor goes to Lisanne and asks her to take on his case. She tells him she'll think about it but Mickey tells her she can't because he is representing Molly.
Nothing much else happened - John played the tycoon again, Vivian had lunch with Vic who is casting his eye around for a new women, and she also found out that Nikki has run away....
John goes to see Marlena. It's a great J&M scene, the first time I've seen them looking uncomfortable around each other for a while. They talk around how well they know each other and the moment is only spoiled when John mentions his impending honeymoon with IzzyB. He asks Doc if she knows what Shawn's dream is. She tells him and they call a family meeting at the fishmarket. There, John tells Shawn that he's going to give him the money to start his own Irish pub. Shawn doesn't want to accept it, but Marlena takes him outside (cute scene) and tells Shawn that he has to accept John's offer because he would be so disappointed to be turned down. Shawn agrees and they begin making plans.
Meanwhile, Carrie purposely bumps into Austin and gets herself invited to a rehearsal of a band he knows.
Nikki Alamain (the obnoxious little twerp he is), is on his way to Salem to surprise his Aunt Vivian. Vivian is frantic about his disappearance and the possibility of his arrival in Salem. The best laid plans...... Despite all her best efforts Nikki arrives at Salem airport, bumping into Carly who is seeing John and Isabella off on their honeymoon. He takes a taxi to LaAlamain and sneaks in the front door....
