The party is winding up but Carly is at Lawrence‚s where she reads Nikki to sleep after his nightmare. When she gets back to the boat - Bo has done it up like Cancun and they make love (yet again)....
Jack and Jenn get back to the house, Jenn slips into a negligee and they dance before they head upstairs...
Roman heads back to the loft where he finds out John was supposed to be going to the station. Except that no one has seen him for hours. He calls Abe and asks him to check impound for Marlena‚s car. Abe does and gets back to him with the news that it has been there for almost a month. Carrie is starting to get scared and Roman isn‚t far behind her.
In the pit John digs his way out from under sheets of roofing iron and calls out Marlena‚s name. Eventually he finds her hand sticking out from under one of the sheets and he pulls her out. When he realizes she is not breathing properly he gives her (a form of) mouth to mouth ;0). She still doesn‚t wake up but he tells her help will come soon - he left his car up there, someone is bound to see it soon. Yeah they probably would if it just hadn‚t been stolen....

Lawrence calls Carly and asks her to meet them at the ice rink at 1pm so that she can spend some time with Nikki. She agrees and then he tells her he wants to speak to Bo. He tells Bo that Ivan has some new news for him about Lisanne‚s death. Bo tells him to meet him down at the station. There he tells Bo that he saw Lisanne agitated about something at the house and when she left he saw she had all her clothes in the car so he followed her in his. When she drove off the cliff, he had to brake and that‚s where the skid marks came from. Bo doesn‚t trust him and asks him if he will take a lie detector test to say he didn‚t have anything to do with Lisanne‚s death. Down at the park Carly meets Lawrence and Nikki. They have a pair of skates for her and Nikki tries to teach her how to skate. While they are skating, Lawrence slips off and attempts to buy a music box. The old man won‚t sell it but when he learns that Lawrence wants it to win a lost love back he agrees.
Carrie and Roman stay the night at the loft and are getting really worried when John doesn‚t come home. Carrie tells Roman about the earring that looked like Marlena‚s and they think he might have a leave. Abe calls to tell them that John‚s car was used in a robbery and then it is found deserted. Roman comes down to the station while they run tests on it. They are trying to call Donna Welsh when a cop comes in with the tape and machine and the reports on the car. Roman discovers Stella‚s fingerprints were all over the car and when he plays the tape he finds his own voice is on it. He is even more confused when he discovers the answering machine was bought right there in Salem.
Marlena regains consciousness and is amazed to find that John is really there. She tells him she would give five years of her life for a drop of water and he discovers the water main and provides her, her wish. He tells her they need to get out but he has dislocated his knee and when she stands on him to try and get out of the pit, he collapses. She tells him they can‚t try again, there‚s no way out. He tells her they have to get out soon or... He tells her Roman is alive and well and he is trying to keep her spirits up when he tells her that God is a baseball fan. He asks her what the first word in the bible are. She mumbles ŒIn the beginning‚. He smiles and tells her no, it‚s ŒIn the big inning‚......

Vivian has a plan to get Nikki out of the house. She is throwing a Christmas party tomorrow for the children from the orphanage. Lawrence agrees and helps Nikki trim the tree.
Bo and Carly are *supposed* to be getting married tomorrow so Carly decides to go and stay at the Salem Inn so that she doesn‚t see him in the morning.
Roman and Abe discover that Stella‚s prints are also all over the machine and then got through her personal effects. They are shocked to find Marlena‚s date book and also the tapes of the Lombard sessions that should be private. They discover that Donna Welsh‚s number has been forwarded to a number in Salem - the same exchange as Shawn and Caroline‚s so they have the number traced and discover that it‚s the warehouse that has just been demolished. Abe and Roman rush down there, hoping to find some more clues.
In the pit Marlena is giving up. John is trying to keep her going, saying that someone will find them soon, but in truth, his hopes are fading, especially when they hear the bulldozers start up. Marlena reminds him that a long time ago they said that if it ever had to end, they wanted to be together. Then she throws herself in his arms and tell him that she‚s glad they are together. He tells her that so is he. As the bulldozers rumble forward John suddenly gets the idea to make a fire for a smoke signal. They burn some of their clothes and Roman sees the smoke rising from the rubble. The foreman tries to tell him it is just dust but Roman insists that there is someone down there. They begin to pull away the rubble and discover the trapdoor. He is astounded to find John and Marlena in the pit clinging to each other. He tells him he‚ll get them out even if he has to come down there himself. John tells him that Marlena is too weak to hang onto a rope so they get a ladder and John follows Marlena up the ladder. When she falls into Roman‚s arms, John gives them a little sad look..... (sob)

Carly meets with Bo at Salem Place and then goes off to Salem Inn where Lawrence finds her and gives her the music box and a small, framed picture of Nikki. He tries to remind her of what they once had and then asks her again to postpone her wedding but she refuses him.
Jenn buys a little bitty Christmas tree but Jack surprises her with a big one. There was also something about a publisher wanting to meet him about the book, but I wasn‚t really watching all that closely.
Marlena is in the hospital where she thanks John for saving her and they make a pact to make the most of their Œsecond chance‚. Later Roman is watching Marlena sleep and then starts to leave the room, however, when he turns out the light Marlena wakes up practically screaming. He calms her down and she tells him that she spent all that time in the dark in the pit and she just need light now. He tells her they‚ll leave the light on but she should get some rest. She turns over but begins to cry, so Roman slips onto the bed and holds her. He tells her he‚ll never leave her again and then begins to cry himself as he thanks God....

Carly gets ready for her wedding at the Salem Inn. She speaks to Bo in the morning and then Jenn comes and helps her get ready. She is getting ready when Caroline and Kim arrive. Kim gives her a blue garter and Caroline gives her a beautiful old cross that her mother gave her. Earlier she had received a bracelet from Marlena with hers and Bo‚s name on it and Jenn her leant her some earrings for the something borrowed.
At the hospital Marlena is told that she can go home but she‚s not allowed to go to the wedding. Roman tells her he has sent her gift to Carly and then he takes her home. She convinces him that she‚ll be fine when he goes off to the wedding - she doesn‚t need to have anyone sit with her. However later she is asleep on the couch in the living room (in the dark) when she wakes up from a nightmare and is spooked by the branches tapping against the window outside.
The Christmas party goes ahead at LaAlamain and Vivian‚s plan goes off without a hitch. In the heat of the party she switches the clothes Nikki is wearing with another little boy and then spirits him away. By the time Lawrence realizes, it is too late. Meanwhile, Carly is walking down the aisle toward her intended......
