It is Christmas evening at the Brady's and Bo makes his entrance. He tells them that he found Vivian and Nikki and brought them Back to Salem. Roman gives him back his police badge and tells him the force needs him. Later Shawn-D finds a present behind the tree. It is from Marlena and Roman to him and Carly. He opens them and then goes outside.
Carly yells at Vivian while Lawrence has Nikki upstairs. Later when Nikki comes downstairs he tells her he doesn't want anything to do with her because she said those horrible things about Aunt Viv. Yet he goes upstairs and tells Viv that he can't believe that Carly is lying. He says that when she looks at him her eyes look like she cares. Carly feels that she's not wanted and she goes to see Bo. She finds him outside Roman and Marlena's but he isn't really receptive to her...
Bo heads back to the boat and inside the Brady's Roman gets a call from the station and takes it upstairs. Caroline tells Brady he's gorgeous and John says no he's not - he's a manly man - too cute! Shawn and Caroline leave as John is trying to get Brady into his coat thing. He is having trouble, so Marlena offers to help. John moves and she zips Brady until he's snug. John says that she should be good at that - she did it enough with the twinners, but by the time he came on the scene, they were toddlers. She tells him to cherish what he has now and he tells her he does. She tells him that they have wonderful memories, they'll always have those. He says yes they will (then those eyes!). She reaches out and squeezes his hand and smiles at him. However Roman comes down the stairs and catches the moment between the two....When he comes into the room, John pulls on his jacket and then leaves. Roman apologises to Marlena for interrupting whatever it was and then asks if it's about Isabella, he knows that it must be hard for John. Marlena says he is missing her terribly and then hugs Roman tight. He asks her what that is for and she tells him it is because they are alone and can't a woman hug her husband when they are alone. He says yes and it's been a while since they were alone. Marlena says that they should take advantage of it and kisses him. Then she pulls away and says that she thinks that he should take advantage of her. They kiss again and then they head upstairs.....

Where to start! I warn you - this goes on forever. (Oh and a certain cream wool coat made it's first appearance....;0)...)
Julie arrived at Jack and Jenn's and told then that Victor had offered her a very good price on the Spectator. Jack asks her that if he can come up with the money to offer her the same price will she sell it to him. She says she will but both she and Jenn are skeptical that he can come up with that kind of money....
Billie tells Carrie that she can't take Austin up to the cabin and if she tries Billie will tell Austin what she's up to. Carrie won't listen to her and when Austin arrives he reminds her she has an appointment with her probation officer. She asks him not to leave till she comes back and he says he won't. But when John arrives Austin goes down to see Gus his promoter. John asks Carrie about the check and then tells her he thinks she's covering for Billie. She assures him she isn't but she isn't a very good liar. He tells her that Billie is not worth it. Carrie says she is and that she does a lot of stuff people don't know about. Austin comes back and Carrie tells him that Billie called and said not to wait so they leave. John wants to use the phone so Carrie tells him to lock up. But Billie arrives before he leaves and he confronts her about the check, tricking her into admitting she did it. She says he can't prove anything and John tells her not to hurt Œhis girl' or she'll have him to answer to.
Marlena is looking at the charm bracelet and the box and card from John when Roman comes downstairs. She slips the box away and then throws herself into his arms. He asks her what's gotten into her - first last night and now this. She tells him that she loves him so very much. He tells her he knows and she asks him never to forget that. He says he won't (sob) and then tells her he wants for them to go away for the weekend. She tells him that this isn't a good time - she has to start on Kim's therapy right now. Roman asks her if it's really a good idea that she is Kim's therapist, given their familial bond. Marlena tells him that Kim thinks she needs her, thinks she can help her and she believes she can too. She's not going to walk away now... She tells him that it is important when you are as fragile as Kim that there is someone there who understands what you are going through. He says kinda like them huh? She asks what he means and he says that the years that he was kept prisoner help him to understand what she has been through. She hugs him and he says that he is glad he can be there for her. Her eyes slide to the bracelet. She goes into the hospital for her session with Kim (now played by Ariana Chase). Kim tells Marlena that it was even harder to see Andrew and Jeannie go this time. Marlena says she knows and Kim asks her what was the real reason she left the twins in Colorado. Marlena tells her that she didn't want to but they were having such a great time there and that she is not yet herself again after the ordeal she has been through. She says that she can't be alone right now, she can't be in the dark. She sleeps with the light on and when they were in Colorado she woke up screaming and Sami came running in thinking that something more was happening to her. Kim sees a young girl she helped and questions how she could help her when she hadn't even dealt with her own problems. Marlena takes it on board and asks Kim if they should really be doing this - after all she is not completely over her ordeal yet. Kim says that Marlena is the only person she has been able to open up to about this....similar experiences create a bond between people. Marlena says yes they do...thinking about John. Later on she is listening to the session on tape and Kim talking about Shane and her mind wanders back to John on Christmas Day outside the house.
At the Brady pub John is talking to Abe who asks him how things are going between him and Marlena. Roman says he thinks they are very good - he tells Abe having the family home at Christmas really made it feel like he was *home*. And he says that Marlena has shown him so much love since he got her out of that pit that he feels like a jerk for ever doubting her. He makes a New Years Resolution never to doubt her again. Later, when he comes across Kim and Alice in the hospital, Alice tells him that Marlena has signed out for the day. Roman says she's probably gone home and Kim tells him she'll go with him. At the lift she tells him that Marlena has already helped her, she only wishes she could help Marlena. Roman tells her not to worry, Marlena is doing just fine...at which Kim looks more than a little concerned.
At the loft John opens the door to find Marlena there. She avoids his eyes for a while before she asks him if he has been to see Carrie and he tells her that he thinks she is covering for someone. She asks is it Austin and then realizes it is Billie. She tells him she wants Billie out of that apartment and away from Carrie. They discuss the situation and Marlena is relieved that Carrie is still honest, even if she was covering for Billie. John says they must have done something right and then stops. Marlena says that they did both play a part in her upbringing. She says it has been difficult for Carrie. John tells her it's been difficult for everyone. ŒPresent company included' she tells him. He mentions that Carrie is worried about her and Roman and then says that maybe they all expected things to fall into place a little too quickly, but he is sure that things will be alright. She says she bets they will be. (Not with that sexual tension and those *eyes*.....) The level of discomfort is rising astronomically and she makes the excuse that it's late and she has to leave. He asks her to say hi to Roman for him and she says she will. There is a last lingering gaze as she leaves.
Back at the house Roman tells her they are going out. She is thrilled and grabs her purse, checking something. Roman says, by the way, he was at the hospital earlier and where did she go before she came home. She pauses for a few moments and then tells him she had some errands to run. He asks what errands. There is another pause before she laughs and tells him to listen to himself.....after which they leave for dinner....

Only half watched this ep....
Carrie and Austin make it to the cabin but it's a little Œrustic' for Austin's liking. Carrie convinces him it's okay and cooks him dinner. Later they begin to make out and Carrie tells him that she doesn't want to wait any longer - she wants him to make love to her. He picks her up and takes her to the bed but after a while tells her that he can't do this and that they'll have to wait till after the fight. Carrie grudgingly agrees but later on as he's sleeping she sabotages the car so that they can't get back to town.
Meanwhile back in Salem, Billie has a visit from one of Simon's men, who tells her that she's going to store some money for them. Billie says no but the guy forces her to. She goes to the pub to see if she can find out where Carrie and Austin are and tells Caroline that they are at a cabin in the mountains. Caroline later tells Roman, who isn't impressed. Outside the pub Roman and Bo catch the Billie's visitor who is known to be bringing in money to Salem to be laundered. When Billie gets back to the apartment, Gus corners her and wants to know where Austin is. He tells her if Austin ducks out on the fight, he's in big trouble.
Bo asks Roman to let him back onto the Lisanne Gardener case but Roman tells him that the case is closed. Bo knows it's foul play and asks Roman to let him have a couple of weeks to see if he can come up with anything.
Nikki finds the suitcase that is full of his baby stuff and finds the letters that he wrote to his mom. He reads one out and Carly (lurking outside the back of the house,) hears it. Later she comes in and they decide they will have to tell him they are his parents before he accidentally hears it somewhere else. Carly is afraid he will reject her and Lawrence gets him downstairs to apologize for his behaviour. He gets over his pique at Carly and Lawrence gives him one gift from Carly that he missed. It is a boat and he and Carly put it together.....

Austin and Carrie have lunch and then Austin starts talking about getting back to town. Carrie attempts to distract his attention, but he goes out to start the car. He comes back in when it won't start, stressed out about getting back to town. He realizes that there's no phone an Carrie hasn't told anyone where they've gone. He decides to go for help but then comes back later having found nothing. Carrie says that since they can't get back to town they can make the most of it. Austin says that she doesn't understand....if he don't get to the fight and win it, the loan shark will kill him. Carrie says that her dad will protect him but Austin tells her that her dad will throw him in jail if he finds out why he owns the money. He says that the only thing he can do is to go out and fix the car. She says he can't - it's freezing out there. He says so he'll freeze to death if he can't get the car fixed. So then she breaks down and tells him she pulled a wire out of the car so that he wouldn't be able to get back for the fight. Her excuse that she didn't want him to get hurt doesn't wash with him and he is furious. They go out to look for the wire but have no luck....
Carly, Nikki and Lawrence run into Bo and Roman at Johnny Angel's and Lawrence gives Bo a check for $25,000 - the reward for bringing Nikki back. Bo tears it up and they have a tense conversation and eventually Bo leaves. Lawrence and Carly later go to the Pub to talk to Kim about how to tell Nikki that they are his parents. She says that she'd love to help as long as Marlena thinks it's okay. Later Jenn persuades Carly and Alice persuades Bo to go to the New Years party at Wings.
Marlena runs into John at the Mall and asks him if he wants to have a coffee. He says yes, but only if it's back at the loft. She asks him if it's Brady's nap time and he says it is but there's also something else he wants her to do for him. When they get there he hands her envelopes saying it's checks for Sami and Eric. $5000 each - that's how much he gave Carrie so now it's all fair. Marlena says she can't accept them and so he tells her he wants to help his kids. She says that she knows why he wants to but she's not sure how Roman will take it. With her agreement, he says, He'll be okay with it. Brady starts gurgling and Marlena realizes he has a temperature. But it's only teething and she tells John that he'll be fine. John asks her if she has plans with Roman tonight and she realizes that she's already late. In order to spend more time with John she decides to get changed in the loft. As she goes to get her clothes from the car she pauses at the door to wish John a ŒHappy New Year'. Then she goes and he whispers „Happy New Year Doc.‰ Later she gets changed and comes down to the living room, wearing a strapless leopard-skin print evening dress. She looks *stunning* and John thinks so as he turns around and catches sight of her. He tells her that "Woah," she's going to knock Roman's socks off. She smiles and asks how Brady is doing. He says just fine - she was right - he's teething. She says if only she could solve everybody's problems that easily. So he asks her how she's doing. When she says she's fine, he doesn't believe her - saying she's been edgy these past couple of weeks, and he asks her what's up. She says that when they were in that pit she promised that if she had a second chance she would do everything properly this time and she says she just isn't doing it right. He asks her if she's tried and she says yes, but then she realizes that perhaps she isn't trying enough. She says she's not telling Roman how she really feels, what's happening inside her and she should be. She says that they all did that didn't they? They all tried to move on like nothing had happened, nothing had changed and they had nothing to deal with and she realizes that they are doing that again. They're not dealing with anything. She walks to the fireplace and John walks up behind her, practically leaning over her shoulder. She sees his arm and then hi face and swallows. John tells her that maybe it's time for change, a new start. He suggests that she just leap in there with Roman - not worry about what she's going to say. She turns and says that he makes it sound very simple. (His proximity makes her catch her breath). He tells her he's not a shrink so he doesn't tend to overanalyse things, at which she laughs. His being so close is almost killing her as he carries on. Then she turns around and says it's good advice and she can't wait to see Roman to try it out. (Mmm-hmmm...who is she trying to convince?)
Later she arrives at the party and Roman tells her she looks gorgeous. She tells him he looks pretty gorgeous himself. They head outside on the balcony and he puts his jacket around her shoulders And he holds her as the countdown begins inside. As the clock strikes new years Bo and Carly are toasting each other in silence with long stares as Lawrence walks in....
