Billie scores a job at the local department store as a clerk on the make-up counter with a little help from Carrie. Unfortunately, she upsets one of the store's regular customers an hour later and she is fired. Carrie and Austin are there to hear the firing but when they get back to the apartment, Billie isn't there. She's down at the Brady pub, where Cash finds her and makes her an offer she might find hard to refuse.
Jack gets Jo to call the publisher woman and pretend that she is Miranda Miller. She says she's agoraphobic and can't go out and do any publicity interviews but the woman agrees to publish her anyway.
Carly goes to Jenn's and tells her that Bo's gone. Lawrence talks to Nikki but Viv comes down the stairs and turns off the phone before Nikki can tell him where they are. Lawrence's men don't manage to trace the call but Lawrence takes the recording to Jenn's where he plays it to Carly. He tells her that they will find Nikki....

Cash gives Billie some pills and tells her that they may be able to work something out. He tells her that he wants her to start working for him as a dealer. She refuses but then tells him she'll think about it. He tells her not to think to long.....or she'll owe a lot of money. Carrie and Austin phone the pub and Shawn tells them that Billie us there. However, by the time they get there, Billie is no-where to be seen. It is only when they leave that they find her. She's taken a couple of the pills and is having a really bad trip. Austin tells Carrie they can't take her to hospital as she's on probation, so they take her back to the apartment where Austin manages her through. When she's asleep he tells Carrie that he's bad news, she'd be better off without him. Carrie refuses to listen and when she leaves the room and Billie wakes up, Austin tells her that it might be time to leave Salem.
Phillip and Kim are at the Pub when a friend of Phillips turns up. He tells Phillip he has the hottest screenplay in Hollywood and it could make Phillip big again. Phillip at first refuses but then agrees to read the screenplay. Then he sends Kim home and tells her that he has something to take care of. At home, she wraps pressies and pines over the children. She is crying when Phillip gets home but manages to cover it. He tells her he has a surprise for her and tells her to close her eyes. She does, and when she opens them, Andrew and Jeannie are standing in front of her.
Bo and Shawn-D are out on the river when they run across some friends, Mark and Shirley. The couple some onboard and tell Bo they've been chartering out their boat. Then they tell him about a friend who got paid a lot of money for taking an older woman and her son down the river on Friday night. Bo questions them and determines that it could well be Vivian and Nikki and decides to see if he can find them.....

Roman and Marlena stop by Carrie's on their way back from Colorado and Marlena discovers that Billie has been high. Carrie asks her not to tell Roman as Billie is still on probation. Marlena agrees - on the condition that Billie goes into rehab. They agree and then Marlena asks them to come over for Christmas dinner. They all agree, but when Marlena and Roman get home, Roman isn't too happy about the whole thing. He didn't get any time to spend alone with her on Colorado and he is worried about her, just having gotten out of hospital. But she says that she wants to do this and he decides to go to the station while she gets organized.
Bo tracks down the guy Ike that took Viv and Nikki down/up stream (I wish they'd be a little consistent!) After a small bar brawl, Ike tells him that he took them up to Niagara Falls. Bo calls Roman at the station and tells him that. At LaAlamain, One of Lawrence's guys brings back a suitcase they found in the trunk of Vivian's car. (Oh yeah, they found Vivian's car. ;O)) It is only full of papers, but when Carly rummages through it, she discovers there's a false bottom to it. When they pull it out, they discover a baby blanket and christening robe, belonging to Nikki, along with a baby journal.
John is told by his accountant there may be a problem with his checking account. He shows him the check that Billie forged and John realizes that it was forged on the day that he went to Washington to look for Marlena. He wonders if Carrie had anything to do with it and he goes over to see Marlena. She can't believe it at first but then he tells her the string of events. She wonders if maybe Carrie is into drugs too and when John says he swears she isn't Marlena tells him that yesterday he would have sworn that Carrie wouldn't have stolen from him either. She goes to call Roman but John tells her that Roman has to stay out of this. This is between Carrie and him. Marlena tells her that Roman is her father but John tells her that he brought Carrie up for more years than Roman did and that Roman treats her like a child. She isn't convinced but he tells her that he wants to go talk to Carrie about it first. Then he tells her that he'll never come to her with any problem about Carrie again if she goes to Roman. She finally agrees and they go over to Carrie's apartment......

Bo manages to corner Ike who tells him the real truth about where he took the lady and the kid. Meanwhile back on the ranch, Viv's old flame tells her there's someone asking about them at the bar down by the river. They organize to get Viv and Nikki out that night and they pack. Later on he takes Viv and Nikki down to where a car and driver are waiting and tells the driver where to take them. Then he leaves to head off any trouble back at the pub. It is a while before Vivian realizes that the driver is not driving to the airport. She demands to know where they are going and the driver stops the car and gets out. It's Bo but Vivian tries to talk him into letting them go by saying that Nikki will always tie Lawrence to Carly.
Christmas Eve at the Hortons. All the Horton balls are laid on the tree, first those absent and then those present. Tom, Alice, Mickey, Maggie, Jennifer, Jack and Abby. Jo is also there and Jenn gives her Abby's ball to put on the tree. During the festivities, Jack calls the publisher but she tells him that she has been fired and all her projects have been shelved so she won't be publishing Miranda Miller's book. Later they all go to the church chapel where the new Vicar starts a sermon. However he is called away and so Jack reads from the Horton bible.
At first Carrie denies knowing anything about the check. John says that if it had been a family matter they could have taken care of it themselves, but since it isn't they are going to have to get the police involved. At this Carrie tells them that it was she who stole the check and she intended to pay it back. She asks them not to tell Roman and John asks her why she would do it and then lie to him about it. She says that she got behind on rent etc. Marlena asks her if she's in any other sort of trouble, implying drugs. Carrie tells her she would never touch the stuff. All the time Billie is standing there listening and doesn't do a thing. Eventually John and Marlena leave and Billie thanks Carrie for covering for her. Carrie tells her it wasn't for her - it was for Austin and when Billie says she didn't get into trouble, Carrie says no but she has never seen John and Marlena so hurt and disappointed in her. At the Horton Pub, John tells Marlena that she'd better get home to Roman but she tells him that Roman decided to spend the evening in at work because of the lead on the Alamain case. She says that she is going to the service at the chapel that Tom has organized and John says that he'll go with her.......

It's Christmas morning.
Bo is on the boat with Viv and Nikki. He's taking them to Mexico and Vivian tells him it's a good idea for him as well as them. Now there will be nothing to tie Carly to Lawrence. Then he gives a gift to Nikki and tells him it's from Carly. Nikki says he doesn't want it, he doesn't like her now. Vivian tells him it's rude not to accept gifts and that it's from Carly *and* Bo. Nikki takes it and Bo goes up on deck. Back at LaAlamain, Carly wakes up on the couch and she and Lawrence go through more of Nikki's baby stuff. There's a letter there to his mom where he writes that he thinks of her and asks why she gave him up. They watch the last item - a video tape of Nikki as a baby and then Carly breaks down, telling Lawrence that she's afraid that she'll never see him again. Lawrence holds her and tells her that he had hoped that Nikki would be back before Christmas. Just then there is a noise and they look up to see Nikki. Carly asks what angel brought him home and turns round to find Bo standing there...
Marlena and Roman are downstairs and Roman tells her as much as he loves his family he would love to spend this day with his wife alone. They snuggle up on the couch and Roman adds „Opening Christmas presents‰. Marlena leaps off the couch, agreeing it's a good idea and tells him she'll go first. ;0) He gives her a box and it's a pin made of gold and pearls. She tells him it's beautiful and then she picks up a box and tells him that's for him. Only problem is - it's not, it's for John. She gives him his - it's an army knife and it has his initials on it. Roman goes upstairs to shower and Marlena grabs a couple of gifts and after calling up to him, goes out. John opens the door of the loft to find her there and she gives him his Christmas present. It's a gold watch, engraved on the back „To J.B., For giving me time, M.‰ He puts it on and tells her it's Œsensational'. Then he gives her a gift. She opens it (well, she tears it open in the way that only Marlena can) and finds a long box. She opens the box and inside is a.....gold charm bracelet (yeah, well bet all you guys are surprise by that one huh?! ;0)) He tells her that the charms are to bring her good luck - there's opals - birthstones for the twinners, and aquamarine - birthstone for Carrie, a star (for light he tells her), an angel (for protection and guidance, a life preserver for a safe journey, an anchor for steadfastness and finally a couch - because she's a shrink. (A little touch of whimsy was in order he tells her) . ;0) She thanks him, and thanks him with her eyes and then he puts it on her. Looks are flying back and forward across the room (whew!) and she thanks him again. Then she thanks Brady, picking him up out of the cot and hugging him, telling John that this is what Christmas is all about. She squeezes Brady and says he's yummy (Brady or John? ;0)) She says that she'd love to stay here, this is wonderful but she has to go - people are waiting at her place. At the door, she asks him what he's doing today - he tells her that he and Brady are going to sit down and watch a ball game. She smiles and tells him that they're not - they're coming to her place. John isn't sure but she tells him that he's spent more Christmases at that house than she has. He agrees and she says she'll see him at home.
She heads back to the house where Shawn and Caroline have arrived already. Carrie, Austin and Billie arrive and then John with Brady. Caroline notices the lovely charm bracelet and asks Marlena if Roman gave it to her. Marlena says that no, John did and then quickly shows Caroline the pin that Roman gave her. (Subtle Mar! ;0)) Marlena gives Billie a pair of earrings and tells her to wear them in good health. John thanks Billie for the present for Brady and Billie says that she just loves the little kid. John suddenly realizes that she seems to have spent a lot of time at the loft. Later he tells Carrie he'll be by to talk to her tomorrow. Shawn-D arrives unexpectedly, having been dropped off by Mark and Shirley and the traditional Brady toast is toasted. Finally there is a present opening and Austin tells Carrie he has a present for her. He has picked up the tune to her favourite song and plays it on the keyboard Marlena has hired. Then they all sing Marlena's favourite carol, Silent night....
