January 1988 Updates
January 5, 1988
Neil checks up on Kim and tells her she's doing better,
but she wonders if now Shane plans to bring Eve back. Eve calls
the hotline and says she's not sure how much more she can take
and hangs up. Adrienne wants to know what is going on with all
the strange men in the house, but Justin uses Diana as the reason.
Kim is happy to learn Shane is not bringing Eve back for now.
Gabrielle goes to see Shane about Eve. Kim and Shane joke around
about picking out a name for the baby and how difficult her
pregnancy has been, but he feels it will be better.
January 8, 1988
Kayla runs over to Steve's and looks for help, in light
of Jack's plans for a campaign train for them to travel on. Kim
surprises Shane at Blondies by telling him she wants to spend
some time with Eve. Diana awakens and tries to get the keys off
Roman while he is asleep. She is able to get them and when Roman
wakes, she hides them. Melissa tells Jack he knows she's not a
killer and wants his help, but he says he can't do that, for
Kayla's sake. Steve and Kayla try to find a way out of her
sleeping with Jack. Victor and Serena talk about where Diana
might be. Roman makes some eggs and has to feed them to Diana,
since she is handcuffed to the bed. She later tricks Roman into
laying down, and handcuffs him to the bed. He wakes up and tells
Diana he doesn't want her to marry Victor, he wants her to marry
him, but she says she has no choice. Later Diana comes back after
seeing her mother and Victor plotting.
January 12, 1988
Shane gets a letter from Eve's adopted parents. He tells
Kim they are giving up their rights to Eve. Jenn walks in the
Fish Market and overhears Frankie and Eve. Kayla waits to talk to
Steve about Melissa. Steve tells Kayla he is going to talk to
Melissa himself, but before he can, Gabrielle catches him and
stops them. Kim tells Shane maybe it's time to bring Eve home.
Shane talks to Gabrielle about adopting Eve. Kim then asks
Gabrielle about Kim adopting Eve as well. Later Kim tells Shane
of her plan.
January 14, 1988
Diana tries to sneak out of Victor's, but he catches her
and says they are getting married the next day. When Shane goes
to see Gabrielle, Eve sneaks out. Adrienne tells Jo she is
pregnant, but is not sure she is going to tell Justin, given all
that is happening. Eve goes and argues with Kim about her wanting
to adopt her. Shane comes back and finds Eve and Kim arguing
again, and tries to calm Kim down. Shane talks to Eve about her
and Kim. Justin learns from Neil about Adrienne. Justin and
Adrienne finally talk and he's on cloud nine. Kim and Shane go to
Blondies as Gabrielle comes in with Eve.
January 19, 1988
Shane goes to see Gabrielle and says he can't sign the
adoption papers at the moment as Eve overhears them. Shane tries
to explain to Eve the reason, but she gets mad and takes off.
Jenn goes to see Frankie about Max's accident and his eye. Kayla
goes to see Max in the hospital, and Steve is there in Max's room
and they share a kiss before Jack comes in and asks Steve for his
help on the campaign with the riverfront residents. Eve goes to
see Kim with a gift for the baby, but Kim is skeptical. Eve then
says she is leaving town, as Kim tries to talk her out of it.
When Kim can't she calls Shane and tells him what is going on.
Max's bandages are removed and his eye is fine. Eve goes to Nick
for a place to stay. Shane and Gabrielle find Eve. Shane tells
her he and Gabrielle have to go to Washington, but he's arranged
for her to stay with Shawn and Caroline, as she likes the idea of
being near Frankie.
January 21, 1988
Kim goes to talk to Caroline and Eve is there and is
cordial to Kim before she goes out and sees Nick waiting for her.
Angelica plans a victory party for Jack at Blondies. Shane tells
Gabrielle their flight has been cancelled because of a blizzard,
but he rented a car to drive them home. Eve meets with the
customer Nick set her up with, and he is real dangerous. The
photographer finally hands Jack the photos of Kayla and Steve,
but he drops them before he can see them, as Kayla picks up the
folder. Eve calls Kim looking for Shane, but he's still not back.
Kim finally gets her to tell her the address before the guy pulls
the phone out of the wall. Kim gets there and sees what's going
on, and acts like a hooker to get the guy to let her in. When he
steps out for a few minutes, Kim confronts Eve about what is
going on, and Eve admits to Kim what she has been up to, as they
look for a way out. Kayla gives Jack the folder, not knowing
about the pictures. Jack opens it and sees Kayla and Steve. Kim
gets Eve out a window, but is unable to get out herself before
the guy comes back and slaps Kim so hard she flies over a table
and lands on the floor.
January 22, 1988
Shane and Gabrielle stop for dinner while they wait to
get their car running again, as Shane worries when he is unable
to reach Kim. Eve gets Kim to the hospital, but it doesn't look
good for the baby. Jack answers questions as he looks at Steve
and Kayla, but does get to talk to the photographer who tells him
they are recent pictures. Abe talks to Eve about the guy who was
attacking her, as she worries about Kim and the baby. Neil comes
out and tells them they weren't able to save the baby. Jack
invites Steve to his victory party as he acts strangely towards
Steve and Kayla. Kim asks Neil about Shane, but doesn't want to
see anyone at the moment. Neil gets angry when Kim asks about Eve.
Eve is remorseful about Kim and the baby, when Shane and
Gabrielle come and see her sitting outside his house. She then
fills them in about what happened, and that Kim lost the baby, as
Shane takes off. Jack confronts Kayla with the pictures. Shane
arrives at the hospital and tries to explain to Kim why he wasn't
back sooner and tries his best to comfort her. Jack is angry at
Steve and Kayla's betrayal and goes too far by forcing himself on
Kayla.
January 26, 1988
Jenn and Mike talk about their parents' problems and
Bill getting a divorce from Laura. Gabrielle finds Shane at the
hospital nursery. Eve goes to see Kim with some flowers. Kim
wakes up and they talk as she tells Eve she can go home. Eve then
asks Kim if she told Shane what really happened, and Kim says she
and Shane have a lot to discuss. Kim tells Caroline she's angry
at Shane for not being there with her, then feels bad for feeling
that way. Shane talks to Eve about what happened to her and Kim,
so he can catch this guy who did this. Bill and Janice continue
to grow closer. Mike and Jenn go to visit Laura. Shane goes to
see Kim, as Eve walks in, and Shane asks them for the details of
what occurred. Later, Eve asks Kim why she didn't tell Shane the
truth, but Kim says she doesn't want to hurt Shane the way her
father was hurt. Kim then tells Eve she has to give up that life
and she is going to watch her very closely to be sure she does.
January 27, 1988
Diana tries to sweet talk Ethan into letting her into
Roman's office without him being there, when Roman comes up from
behind her. Frankie and Paula Carson get physical. When Shane
opens the door, Eve is there to move back in, and he is surprised
to learn Kim told her to. Kayla takes care of Steve after Jack
had him beaten up. When Shane asks Kim what is going on, she
insists this is how she wants to handle things. Roman asks Diana
what she wants, so she asks to see the file on Victor and he
laughs her out of his office. Steve wonders when Kayla is going
to tell Jack the truth about them, but she says Jack won't touch
her - not now. Kim tells Eve she has 2 choices: live with
Gabrielle and her rules, or live there with her and Shane and
abide by Kim's rules, as Shane walks in and hears them. Shane
tries to get Kim to talk to him, but she won't open up to him.
Marcus goes to check on Steve. Kayla meets with Jack at Blondies,
and tells him she knows he hired someone to beat up Steve. She
then threatens to reveal what he did and tells him to move out of
the loft - now! Roman comes to Diana's rescue when she goes
snooping about Victor. Shane sees the tension between Kim and
Eve, and asks Kim to share her feelings with him about what has
happened. While talking to Kayla, Marcus sees the bruises on her
neck and she tells him Jack raped her after finding out about her
and Steve. Marcus promises not to tell anyone, but encourages her
to tell Steve. Kim finally allows Shane to get close to her again.
January 29, 1988
Frankie feels uncomfortable with Paula, after their
encounter. Eve comes home and finds a baby sweater laying around,
and tries to hide it from Kim, as Kim thinks she is hiding
something else, until Shane comes in and says he meant to put it
away, it was something he bought on his last trip to Washington.
Kayla finds Steve getting ready to talk to Jack about them. Steve
wonders what is wrong with Kayla as she puts off telling Jack.
Kim plans to go back to work, as Shane worries she is going back
too soon. Steve and Kayla go to see Jack together, and Steve
tells Jack the truth. Eve tells Kim she'll try to accept her.
Jenn asks Frankie to get back together with her, and he's
thrilled. Jack warns Kayla not to tell Steve what happened, and
to forget the divorce. Eve asks Shane about her mother, as
Gabrielle walks in. Kayla tells Steve she wants to go somewhere
far away - now. Shane and Gabrielle argue about the truth, as Eve
overhears Shane say Gabrielle is Eve's mother and she has to tell
her so.
