March 10, 1987 SOD Update
Chris interrupts Shane and Kimberly's romantic evening with a news article describing their "illicit" relationship. Kositchek advises Kim to move out of Donovan's house so that Leslie will not be able to use their relationship against Kim during the trial. Realizing that she is growing extremely dependent on Shane, Kim decides it would be best on a number of levels if she went home. Shane promises that he'll still be there for her -- every step of the way.
Max Gets Shot
Jennifer and Glenn temporarily manage to elude the coach, but eventually the armed man catches up with Gallagher. The coach forces Glenn into an abandoned warehouse where he holds the teenager at gunpoint. Unless Glenn tells him everything he knows about the undercover narcotics investigation, the coach plans to kill him! Luckily Jennifer and Frankie get help and locate Glenn. But as Gallagher is being rescued, Max shows up and is shot in the confusion. The police apprehend the coach and Jennifer, Frankie, and Glenn rush Max to the hospital. While Robin and Mike work desperately to remove the bullet that threatens Max's life, Frankie tells his friends that if his brother dies he'll never forgive them. Luckily, the surgery is a success. Meanwhile, Caroline goes to Kayla's apartment to tell her about Max's condition. Caroline is shocked to find her daughter with Patch!
Lars and Melissa
Lars tells Melissa he has a surprise for her. Will she meet him at Blondies? When she arrives, he whisks her off to the airport in a limo. He's taking her to the ballet -- in New York! After a magical evening on the town, Lars and Melissa return to their hotel and make love.
Patch Confronts Adrienne
While helping Kayla at the emergency center, Patch accidentally knocks over Adrienne's purse, spilling its contents. He sees a picture of himself taken when he was 5 years old! He pockets the snapshot, but before he can examine anything else Adrienne returns and gathers up her things. Later, Patch gets an opportunity to look through her purse again. This time he finds an old newspaper clipping which describes the fire which occurred when he was a boy. Curious why Adrienne would have these things, Steve confronts her. "I'm your sister," Adrienne finally admits.
Kim's Trial Begins
Shane and Kim share a quiet moment before the trial begins. But when Chris sees the pair, he warns them that they shouldn't risk being seen together. However, when the court recesses for lunch, the couple goes to the pier and shares a picnic lunch.
As Kim's trial moves along, Leslie calls her first witness for the prosecution. Alex testifies that Emma told him she had been kidnapped. Neil is next to take the stand. Leslie gets him to admit that Kimberly requested him to administer sodium pentathol to Emma, but he refused. Shane testifies that he received a sample of an experimental drug from the I.S.A. on the same day that Emma was kidnapped. Donovan further reveals that he did kidnap and drug Emma at Kimberly's request! When Leslie asks Shane if he is still in love with Kimberly, the courtroom is thrown into pandemonium!
As Kimberly's trial continues, Chris tells Shane they may be overlooking one prime suspect: Alex. Not only did Alex want Emma's money, he was around the hospital often enough to get the drug that led to his wife's demise. But who could have sold Alex the drugs? Donovan locates Vicki Jarvis, a nurse who quit just before the murder occurred. At first, she refuses to testify, but finally she admits she sold the drug to Marshall. Chris subpoenas the nurse, but when Shane goes back to see her, Vicki's gone!
Patch's Mother Comes To Town
Adrienne catches Patch gazing at a picture of his mother and she realizes her brother must care about his family. But Johnson responds by telling his sister to stay out of his life. Meanwhile, Patch's mother, Jo, shows up at the emergency center, badly beaten. Adrienne tries to convince Jo to see Steve, but Jo won't consider it. Adrienne tricks Patch into going to the hospital with her, and when Steve enters his mother's room, Jo is moved to tears.
Mike And Robin At Odds
Mike receives a letter from Ivy saying she's left town. She was falling in love with him and knew the feeling wasn't mutual. Robin sees Ivy's note and Mike admits that he and Ivy slept together. "But I was never in love with her," he explains. A hurt Robin doesn't understand Mike's casual attitude toward sex and walks out on him. But her problems are far from over. Jacobs receives word that a lawsuit has been filed against her. She's charged with bypassing more qualified doctors to give Mike Horton a research grant. She did this because she was sexually involved with Mike, the lawsuit contends. Mike offers to resign from the research post and break off the engagement, but Robin announces that they will fight this together!
Orpheus Has Marlena
Orpheus finds Marlena in the garden with his children. He greets the children and then kisses Marlena. Uncomfortable, Marlena moves away to compose herself. When the children leave, she remarks how wonderful his family is and how special his wife must have been. He must miss her a great deal, Marlena says, adding that she could never replace her. Orpheus glares at Marlena, vehemently stating that's not what he wants. If she refuses to cooperate, he'll kill her!
