February 24, 1987 SOD Update

 

Patch comes to Kayla's hoping to pick up where they'd left off when their romantic evening was interrupted. He's all set to enjoy her company, but he's distressed to find Adrienne there, recovering from the trauma of her break-in. Aware she is intruding, Adrienne decides to try to make things up to Patch and Kayla by cooking dinner. Patch reluctantly agrees but Adrienne's dress accidentally catches on fire. In the chaos, Patch has a flashback of his mother surrounded by flames and is upset by the connection. Patch and Kayla's plans are ruined, but Kayla promises to make it up to Patch. He leaves her, haunted by memories of his past.

 

Out of Work

Kim decides to go back to work at the clinic and get her life in order. But at the hospital, she runs into trouble. One of her patients, Kelly, has been forbidden to talk to Kimberly -- "the murderess." Kim tries to work, but her appointments don't show up. Reluctantly, Tom tells Ms. Brady that he has been forced to suspend her from the clinic. Paul takes Kim to Blondies and people point and say cruel things to her. However, Shane comes to the rescue, making Kim see that she has to be strong and not let this get the best of her. He takes her out on the dance floor in front of everyone. Later, Kimberly stops by to see Caroline but her mother has to tell her that she and Max can't have any kind of contact with each other until the trial is over. If they do, social services department will take Max and Frankie away. Kim goes home, upset, and finds that her apartment has been ransacked and the word "Murderer" painted on the wall. Shane comes over and sees it and is infuriated. He summons Abe who sees the pain Kim is going through and feels terrible.

 

Kiriakis Involved

Hope discovers that Kiriakis and Bo are thinking of hiring a powerful lawyer to defend Kim. Mrs. Brady is upset to see Victor's influence on Bo increasing, so she confronts her husband. Bo goes to the hospital to discuss matters with Kim, unaware that she'd been laid off. He runs into Shane instead. When he learns Bo's plans, Shane is upset that Bo would consider a scheme devised by Victor! Meanwhile, Kiriakis runs into Caroline who tells him his efforts are not needed and to stay out of their lives. Feeling pressure from all sides, Bo goes to Victor and urges him to call off the lawyer search. Victor agrees. Hope is proud of Bo and when they hug, they both feel the baby kick for the first time!

 

Mike proposes to Robin

Mike is relieved when he learns of Robin's divorce and he surprises her with a private engagement party in the O.R. He gives her an exquisite engagement ring and Robin accepts. Later, Jennifer tells Mike about a surprise birthday party for Alice, but is hurt when Mike tells her he can't make it because it's on the Sabbath. Mike, seeing how hurt she is, says he'll try. But when he talk to Robin, he sees how important the Sabbath is in the Jewish religion, and then tells Jennifer he won't be coming. Mike tells Alice, Tom, and Mickey that he is marrying Robin and converting to Judaism. They wonder if he is doing the right thing.

 

Kim and Shane

Shane and Kimberly decide to go back to the Curtis mansion looking for clues they might have missed. while they are there, the groundskeeper informs Shane that he saw Kim outside the study window on the night that Emma was murdered. However, he has not been questioned and he informs the couple that he will not offer information on his own. Shane continues to ask Kim about New Year's Eve, but she breaks down, telling Shane she needs to rest. He suggest they have dinner, and Shane cooks a wonderful meal. They enjoy being together, but the sexual tension between them surfaces.

Meanwhile, Alex comes to Leslie with a copy of Emma's will, hoping they can use it in their case against Kimberly. But Mickey reminds Leslie that the evidence is only circumstantial. Mickey suggests they plea bargain to get the charge dropped to second degree murder and ask Kim to plead guilty. Shane talks Kim out of it. Later, at Shenanigans, Kim overhears Leslie saying she is going to see that Kimberly goes to jail for life for what she's done. Kim gets upset, runs out, and asks Gillian if she'll help her run away. But Shane convinces Kim there are "a thousand reasons she should stay." He demonstrates by giving her a passionate kiss!

 

Orpheus On The Loose

Roman and Carrie try to cope with Marlena being gone from their lives. Sadly, Roman packs Marlena's belongings while Olivia tries to comfort her newfound friend. Roman is unaware that he is being watched by none other than Orpheus. Later, Orpheus visits Kiriakis. They make a deal to forget the past and leave each other alone.

 

Adrienne Interferes

While walking alone on the pier, Adrienne and Kayla are accosted by a seedy character, but Patch rescues them. Adrienne decide the time has come to tell Patch the truth about why she in Salem, however, they are interrupted by Kayla. Later, Patch has a nightmare about a fire. He awakens more disturbed than ever about this mysterious woman, Adrienne.

 

Glenn In Trouble

Jennifer confronts Gallagher, telling him she doesn't care that he's a narc; she loves him and wants to be with him. Unfortunately, the coach happens to pass by and overhears Jennifer divulge the truth. At school, the coach tells Glenn he knows he's the narc and offers to help him. Glenn becomes upset, thinking Jennifer blew his cover.

Later, Glenn gets a message that Jennifer is waiting for him at the park. Instead of finding Jennifer there, he finds the coach who pulls a gun on him! But sensing something is wrong, Jennifer goes to the park. She arrives just in time to see the coach holding Glenn at gunpoint. Jennifer screams and Glenn grabs her, but the coach shoots after them....
