They still haven't gotten any answers when Abe arrives and announces that he thinks Emma was murdered. Meanwhile, Shane tries to get Kimberly to admit she had an encounter with Emma, but Ms. Brady refuses. Shane explains that he found a lock of hair in Emma's clenched fist. Kim tries to deny it, but Shane has proof. Before Kimberly can say anything, Abe enters to question her.

After Abe goes, Kim confesses that she did have a confrontation with Emma right before she died. They struggled and fought, but Kimberly swears that when she left Emma, Ms. Marshall was still alive. Shane believes her and promises to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, Bo catches Kiriakis destroying his files on Emma. Victor confesses that if the police found the files, it would look bad for him--even though he didn't kill Emma.

Shane Supports Kimberly

Abe questions Shane about Emma's last days. Donovan tells the detective that Emma was at his place for dinner the night before she died, but fails to mention Kimberly's fake attempt to shoot her. Later, Shane questions Kimberly about the dirt he took off the windowsill, but Kim has no idea how it got there. She realizes how far out on a limb Shane is going for her, but they avoid getting too personal.

Kim's Arrested For Murder!

Abe searches Shane's, Alex's and Kiriakis's houses for any evidence which might implicate one of them in Emma's murder. However, he finds nothing Then, Abe shows up at Kim's apartment with a warrant. During the search, Carver comes up with a vial of liquid. He takes it to the lab to have it analyzed. When the results are in, Kimberly is arrested and charged with Emma's murder!

A Convert?

Robin gets her divorce. She's thrilled that Mike has taken an interest in Judaism. However, if he converts, it has to be because of his own convictions, not because he wants her, she explains.

Jennifer has confided in the coach and he knows something is bothering Glenn. "Want to talk about it?" the coach urges. Glenn is tempted to unburden himself.........

Kim's In jail!

At the police station, Kim calls Chris and he agrees to serve as her lawyer. Meanwhile, Abe refuses to allow anyone to see her until the preliminary questioning is completed. This news doesn't sit well with Shane. He's worried about the coverups they concocted after Kim's last encounter with Emma. While Shane's wheels turn, Chris has a conference with his client. He believes he can clear Kim if she tells him everything that happened on the night Emma died - without leaving out any details. However, Kim opts for a less incriminating version of the events.

Later, Shane sneaks in to see her and advises her to tell the truth, no matter how bad it sounds. When the lab finds traces of Kim's skin under Emma's fingernails, Ms. Brady confesses everything. "We struggled, but I didn't kill her," Kim protests. Roman believes his sister and promises to stand by her.

Patch Tries To Help

That proves to be more difficult than Roman anticipated. He's been taken off Kimberly's case because of lack of objectivity. Patch isn't very objective, either, but he's determined to help. First, he snoops around Roman's office and discovers the evidence which incriminates Kim. Then he steals it. "Everything is going to be okay, sweetness," Patch promises Kayla. "I'd stake my life on it." But when the cops discover the evidence is missing, they don't dismiss the case. Instead, they suspect that Roman may have been behind its disappearance. When Patch learns his scheme has backfired, he returns the drug vial and other items he took, but Johnson is caught immediately afterwards. Although there's no proof, Roman is certain that Patch is behind the hanky panky with the evidence. "Book him for resisting arrest," Roman tells a fellow officer who leads Patch away as Kayla watches, heart-broken.

Patch Has Another Friend

Meanwhile, Shane posts the million dollar bail set by the judge and takes Kimberly home. Before long, Patch, too, is free. But Kayla hasn't been the only one trying to help him. Adrienne is also concerned. When Steve is released, Adrienne watches Kayla accompany him home. Then, after staring at an old clipping, Adrienne makes a cryptic phone call. At the loft, Kayla and Patch start to make love, but they are interrupted by Adrienne's sudden appearance. Her place was burglarized, she explains, and she's scared. Naturally, Kayla invites her to stay.

Kim Is Charged!

At the preliminary hearing, Alex shocks everyone by testifying that Kim tried to kill Emma once before. Then Shane takes the stand and tries to explain it was just a setup to trick Emma, but Leslie, the prosecuting attorney, accuses him of being so in love with Kimberly that he'd lie to protect her! The outcome: Ms. Brady is charged with murder in the first degree!
