June 23-July 4, 1986 Update
AII of Salem is in shock as Marlena is rushed to the hospital. Kim and Shane are already there to pick up Andrew, but upon hearing about Marlena's accident they rush to comfort Roman, instead. Neil works feverishly to revive Marlena and to repair her cracked skull. It's an ordeal. Just when it appears that Marlena will succumb to her injuries, there is a breakthrough. Neil thinks she has a chance to recover.
Emma Snatches Andrew
While Salem prays for Marlena's recovery, Emma, in disguise, sneaks into the nursery. After getting rid of the nurse on duty, she is about to take Andrew when Kiriakis comes in to say good-bye.
She tries again after he leaves, but again is interrupted when she sees Neil, Shane, and Kimberly heading her way. Quickly, Emma grabs the baby and makes a fast exit When Shane arrives to pick up Andrew, he's shocked to find that he is gone! Kimberly comes by to see what is keeping Shane and he has to tell her that the baby is missing. He suspects Kiriakis may be behind it, Donovan says, vowing that he'll get Andrew back.
Having heard about Marlena's accident, Bo and Hope arrive at the hospital. But before they can really commiserate with Roman, they hear a commotion and find Shane attacking Kiriakis! When they discover that the baby is missing, Bo is
about to take sides with Shane, but Donovan signals him not to. Instead of supporting Shane, Bo feigns loyalty to his father. Hope thinks that Bo may be making a mistake by rejecting his family. They might be able to fight Kiriakis by sticking together, she suggests. Bo, however, is convinced that he is right.
Shane, Abe, and Hope put together a notice for the newspaper with a picture of Andrew. Hope begins an investigation into the baby's disappearance. She is shocked when Bo announces he won't work on it with her. He is carrying this charade too far, Hope insists. He has his reasons, Bo says, finally revealing to Hope that he thinks Kiriakis may be able to lead him to the baby. Working with her may cause him to lose his in with Kiriakis, Bo explains. Meanwhile, Eugene has a vibe about baby selling in Cleveland. Little does he know that his vibe is correct!
Emma Gives Andrew Away!
Having arrived in Cleveland, Emma visits the doctor and gives him the baby for free. Back in Salem, Hope gets the Cleveland papers and finds some ads for private adoptions arranged through lawyers. After contacting a lawyer, Shane tells Hope he needs her to play the part of his wife so they can act as a couple looking to adopt a baby. Kimberly overhears their conversation and insists that Shane let her do it. Shane finally con sents when Kim promises not to lose her cool and blow their cover. At the Salem Inn they meet with the lawyer and learn he has a baby boy ready for adoption. He should be able to deliver the child on Monday!
Melissa And Lars Dance - Together!
Melissa goes to the rehearsal hall and runs into Lars. He asks her to dance with him. They are surprised when a representative from the Statue of Liberty Celebration stops by and invites them to perform at the 4th of July festivities in New York. Melissa is stunned when Lars accepts for both of them. She's not ready for something like that, Melissa protests. Lars is adamant. Melissa might go but only on the condition that Pete be allowed to accompany her. That's okay, Lars replies, as long as he doesn't interfere. Melissa gives her husband the good news, but Pete can't go because of a previous promise to Ivy to take care of Charlie.
When Shane and Kimberly receive a call from Attorney David James, they make arrangements to pick up the baby he has gotten for them. Abe tells the couple that a woman was spotted on a plane to Cleveland carrying a baby, but that her identity has not yet been determined.
Kim and Shane meet James and discover that the baby he has isn't Andrew. Kimberly puts on an act so that they don't have to take the baby.
Melissa Dances With Lars
When Melissa realizes that Pete is engaging an illegal business at Jump! with Victor, she tells Lars she'll be his dance partner at the July 4th festivities. It's evident from their practice sessions that they are attracted to each other. As Melissa is packing for the trip, Pete comes in and seeing her suitcase, he is afraid she's leaving him. She's just going to New York, Melissa says, and then adds that she's still angry with him for keeping secrets from her.
Before leaving for New York, Melissa decides to write her husband a note. As she rummages through the desk drawer, she comes across an envelope filled with $50,000 in cash. Furious, she tears up the note and runs out the door. In New York, Lars and Melissa have a wonderful time dancing together.
Hope Is Pregnant
Hope learns from Neil that she is pregnant. She is reluctant to tell Bo, who has resisted the idea of starting a family since he found out that Kiriakis was his father.
Meanwhile at the Allied Warehouse, Ron drives a forklift with a huge crate on it toward Bo to scare him. The throttle sticks and the machine is about to crush Bo when Patch intervenes and saves him! Bo is bleeding badly and Patch takes him to the emergency center, where Neil and Kayla stitch him up. Patch, however, collapses from a concussion he incurred when he saved Bo.
Bo goes with Hope to a 4th of July picnic. Bo gets into an altercation with the Bradys when Hope accepts an award for them and refers to them as her in-laws.
Bo leaves and Hope follows him home where she finally tells him that she's pregnant. At first he's upset, but then he says they'll deal with it. Though Hope is hurt by his attitude, she hopes to make Bo understand that a child is just what they need right now.
Kim and Shane leave the picnic early to meet with a lawyer in Cleveland who tells them they'll have to wait six months for a baby. Kim is upset, knowing that he doesn't have Andrew. Walking through the corridor, they are stopped by the lawyer's secretary who tells them that she knows a doctor who can help them!
